I've been using Mitchell Heating & Cooling for years now. Angelo has been my technician on every visit. He is friendly and knows what he is doing. My system is a little over 15 years old now and is still running efficiently. I like that I get the same technician each time, who is familiar with my HVAC equipment. They offer service plans that include two maintenance visits per year, and you will be at the top of the list if you have an issue and need service. It is cheaper than paying for visits separately, and it's nice when they come for the second visit, and you don't need to pay, as you've already paid earlier in the year. read more

Had 3 Mitsubishi mini splits installed at a cost of 20k just over a year ago. After completion of install tech had to come out several times due to improper wiring. Never bolted outdoor unit to base. Fan in 1 unit is failing already. Contacted Dennis to which he replied unit has 10 yr. warranty but does not incl. labor. We just install units, warranty is with manuf. So you install garbage and then want to charge me for labor to repair, seriously! In addition my $40 shovel disappeared mysteriously. Not sure what is going on with this company, they used to be reliable. Looks like they are providing on the job training with little experience. My advice is find another reputable company as Mitchell is not that company. They will never step foot on my property again. Wow! What a horrible response to my review I received. First and foremost horizon dropping their price had nothing to do with Mitchell. They didn't even know that I was getting a bid from you. They dropped the price of their own volition. And now the owner is trying to tell me to be upset with Horizon? What a shady company. They did not beat Mitchell's price. In fact I have the quote from both. Horizon gave me a discount during a slow time of year to keep their guys working. I have a lot of respect for that. But then Mitchell's owner responding my review by basically telling me Horizon was the bad guy for them not honoring their guarantee. If you read their response to my review. They actually changed their low price guarantee policy. And directly for the owner in case you were not aware. Your sales guy told me that even if someone gives me a discounted rate they would honor it so basically your response to me is as shady as the business practices you employ. If in fact you have always stood by the deal that you offer in your current response to me then you need to have a discussion with your sales guy because he personally informed me of completely different terms meaning that it is not your fault but his and he is lying about your guarntee in order to get the sale. You should be ashamed of yourself and I strongly encourage anyone reading this to study the response and realize this is a company trying to convince homeowners who don't know anything about AC that they did nothing wrong by going back on their word. Once we made the final decision to go with Mitchell, everything went smoothly from the get go. One thing that made our decision easy was that they offer several promotions including financing, which greatly helps us as we are seniors on a limited budget. Greg was down to earth and far from being a pushy salesman and was quite helpful in explaining the entire process from applying for the financing to the installation. Installed a new AC unit for our upstairs in May and since have had nothing but issues. We set the temp at 68 at a brand new unit can't achieve it at night. Excuse after excuse, "Your one month old filter is bad" "You need to keep the door's open for airflow". These are not sealed rooms preventing any air flow from any direction and we definitely did not have these issues with our old unit. Initial install had to be redone at the furnace because of poor wiring. I had a previous unit that was over 19 years old and half the size that did better than what I wasted my money on. I have worked in industrial manufacturing for over 20 years. I spent 18 of those years as a technician troubleshooting electrical systems and air systems. The amount of run around from their techs is mind blowing. I would not doubt they use all of these excuses for most people who don't have a technical background and get away with it. They will promise you the world with "certified techs that train all year round", "Best service around". It's all a long drawn out sales pitch that will leave your wallet empty and your house hot. read more

You sold us a very expensive hvac unit in which there is a part that consistently fails called TXV valve , in fact there is a class action suit that was issued against trane about this valve and you sold us this unit during the time in which these problems started and to this day, continue , shame on you and you sent a service technician out here to my house to do my semi annual check up and this part this failed on my unit which is exactly the one involved in the lawsuit. you never informed us of this part failure you never informed us of the lawsuit you never informed us of the defective product and you sold it to us anyway. And you want over $1000 to fix it. The settlement reached in the lawsuit extends the warranty and replaces the defective item yet you did not mention that at all! You have not heard the last from us on this matter, Not to mention the Facebook pages on which I will post this information. The quality of the installation was incredibly poor so if you feel like wasting a ton of money to continually get your HVAC fixed after installation, this is the company for you. I had my air-conditioner installed in 2017 and it has been nothing but problems. I paid close to $10,000 for the unit and in 3 years after instillation I have spent another $6k getting it fixed. I had a system installed that can flow more air to the upstairs or downstairs depending on the temperatures. The regulator has frozen over five times which cost me around $100 for Mitchell heating and cooling to come out, defrost, reset. I've documented over 17 phone calls to this company in the first year. After my year warranty was up I started using a different company to service my air conditioner. They found multiple problems with the original installation. They installed a 3 ton air conditioning unit and installed a 3.5 ton thermal expansion valve which caused the air conditioning unit to freeze up again. It cost another thousand dollars to have the part ordered and install. I appreciate that this is a family run business but the job should have been done appropriately the first time. I've also made complaints to the Better Business Bureau about this company and that was the only time I got a call from the owner of the company. read more

Could not be happier with Mitchell Heating and Cooling! I would pay twice the price just to deal with these guys. Their entire staff including the ladies that answer the phone are knowledgeable about HVAC systems. Their guys that installed the unit were polite and keep our yard clean. Allen Mitchell, the owner, is an outstanding individual and goes out of his way to make his customers happy. We have had some issues related to our Nest thermostat which we installed with the old thermostat. The Nest went haywire and was causing some weird issues with the new heat pump. Allen was at our house within an hour to help us troubleshoot the problem. He determined that our Nest thermostat was bad. We replaced the unit and everything was back up and running. No charge. A couple weeks later the heat pump wasn't blowing so we called again. Allen was out again within an hour and identified a bad breaker. He replaced it within 30 minutes and we were back up and running. It was our house breaker so it seems like he should have charged us. He didn't. I called him a couple times because I thought the heat pump was acting weird. He was patience despite my ignorance of heat pumps. On one occasion it turned out the heat pump was in a thawing cycle...totally normal but looked weird to me. I guess I am one of his high maintenance customers. I can't say enough on how much on what a great company this is to work with on our HVAC systems. We have had them do annual service on our dual system in WF for at least 5 years. They are always pleasant, prompt and do quality work. The person who answers the calls tries her best to get a technician out as soon as possible that is convenient for us. And the technician, Richard, is very knowledgeable and works very quickly. We had another company service our unit for several years and every time they came out they always found something expensive to fix and even told us that we needed to buy a new unit because our current one wouldn't cool our home that summer. I should've left a review over a year ago but unfortunately I got a bit lazy but yesterday reminded me why I should leave this review! A year ago one of our three HVAC units died, after getting several quotes I was recommended to call Mitchell by a neighbor. I'm glad I did. They came out, quoted a competitive price that was for the same system I had been given by others but was in general about 10% overall less. In addition they of course did all the testing to make sure it was the proper unit instead of just quoting it like others did, also they secured all the proper permits ect. The work was done exceptionally fast and at the end the owner comes himself to ensure the system is up to spec. In addition they follow up to make sure everything is correct. Yesterday in the midst of the first real 90 degree day a different unit of ours want generating AC, called at about 4:30 on a Saturday and was doubtful they would make it out before Monday. The tech Richard (awesome and very friendly and knowledgeable tech) asked how late he would be able to come out, I told him anytime would do! I described the problem and got the impression he knew exactly what it was. At 9:30 pm exactly as he told me he would he rolled into our driveway. We walked to the unit, he did a couple tests told us what it was and within 15 minutes he had installed the fix. He worked so efficiently, quickly and politely that I am constantly amazed how great this company is. All that and what could've been a major repair was very inexpensive, and our AC was up and functioning in less than 6 hours on a very hot night. You should truly call these folks, local family owned and frankly fantastic customer service, and experienced not out to fleece you and very responsive. I'm a very happy customer. read more

We did have a set back on Thanksgiving, the day after the owner checked over everything. It was amazing that he came out on Thanksgiving night to get the heat back working. Record cold temperatures here in Wake Forest over the last week and our heating unit goes out completely. We had it looked at by a large, national chain prior to Christmas and we were told we needed a full new system at over $7,000. I was referred to Mitchell by a real estate colleague of mine and called them right away. Richard came out and did an HONEST diagnostic of the system and found that the motor was bad and 2 relay's from the heat coil (I believe) needed replacement. Within two hours and for $741 the system was repaired, not replaced. We are toasty warm again!! When it does come time to replace the full system, you can absolutely be certain that Mitchell Heating & Cooling will be our first and only call we make!! Mitchell Heating & Cooling is without any doubt the company you will want, if you are looking for honest analysis and peace of mind in your HVAC decisions well after they are gone. Mitchell's team is why they are well regarded in the Raleigh market. We have done business with Mitchell H&C since 2004., in 3 different homes. They have responded very quickly, and given us VERY fair and accurate diagnosis with every call. (Though there haven't been but a couple emergency type calls). Our 15yr old system failed this past Weekend. Their technician fielded a call on Sunday afternoon, and helped diagnose the problem and possible repair cost. He went way above the call of duty. By Monday, I decided it was time to replace the 15yr old system, canceled the repair call, and asked for an estimate instead. Patrick was at our home by 4pm. We invited a couple of other national companies to quote the job as well. I will say upfront, we did not receive the quality analysis from any of the others. Patrick was never pushy, answered all of our questions thoroughly and professionally. Patrick made it easy to decide what was best for our needs and budget. Be careful with this company. Had poor experience in using them for the first time. Although they were paid in full by me (mistake on my part!) their 'diagnostic' actually reconfigured my system (isn't a diagnostic typically to be a look and see?). Much to my surprise, technician changed its configuration but failed to tell me. Found out later that day when system came on & kept running and running - never shutting off yet nothing came from registers. Perplexed, had to stop it from running by turning master switch to off, as thermostats did nothing. Besides not having system at all, technician configuring to this condition, then leaving it like this seems unsafe; most definitely it was a wasteful condition had I not cut off with master switch! The company owner did not see my experience as a problem at all. I will not use the company again. read more
