This is a completely unsolicited review of Burke's Heating and Air, LLC. Previous to meeting Mr. Burke on the service call, we had never met him or anyone affiliated with his firm. Via Yelp, I contacted three firms regarding my elderly parents' 30-year-old HVAC system which was icing up and not cooling well. I contacted the first two firms because they offered $49 and $69 service specials and they advertise constantly on TV and tout themselves as reputable firms. The first one ended up charging over $350 for one hour of diagnostic labor which included changing out a capacitor which didn't fix or improve anything. After charging us, he told us we needed a new system and the firm sent someone else out to give us a price. Their price blew us out of the water. The second firm, which also advertises all the time on TV, didn't inspect or diagnose anything but told us we needed a completely new system because of the age of the system. His price also blew us out of the water. The third person to come out was Walter Burke, owner/operator of Burke's Heating and Air. He spent almost two hours diagnosing and testing various components. I told him that the other firms had advised that we needed a new unit, the existing one was 30 years old. He quipped, "I'm not as young as I used to be but I wouldn't want anyone throwing me out just because of my age"! He offered that he could possibly replace a motor and/or add some Freon and that might buy us some time and get us thru the summer season. That really impressed me and let me know he wasn't out to make all the money he could; he had my parents' best interest at heart and was looking out for their pocketbook. I told him that considering the age of the unit, it probably made financial sense to replace it. I asked him give us quotes for a central heating and air replacement using two different manufacturers, both with very good reputations. Although he tested and worked on the existing unit for almost two hours, he refused to let us pay him anything even though when he left that day, he did not know if he would get the job. He had two quotes for us the next day, both considerably less than his competitors (whose customers have to pay for all their TV advertising!) It was an absolute pleasure working with Mr. Burke and members of this family owned and operated business. He communicated throughout promptly and professionally and installed the unit in one day. It was inspected and passed with flying colors within two days. He registered the warranty the same day it passed the inspection and forwarded all warranty information to me via email that same day. He did not ask for any payment whatsoever until the job was completely finished. When you hire Burke's Heating and Air, LLC, you are working with the owner, not someone who has to communicate with an owner before decisions can be made in the field. Mr. Burke is fully licensed and insured. I am a retired residential construction business owner and I made sure I thoroughly vetted Mr. Burke before trusting him inside my elderly parents' home. If you want a TRUE professional you can TRUST at a reasonable price, please hire Mr. Burke. He not only met all of our expectations, he exceeded them .... and we saved thousands of dollars in the process! 5 STARS PLUS for Burke's Heating and Air! Highly Recommend. My house has separate AC systems for both upstairs and downstairs. I decided to replace my old upstairs air conditioning (AC) system with a new AC system that would actually cool the upstairs and not just blow hot air and cost a fortune with high electricity bills! I got several written estimates and after comparing them, it was a very easy decision to go with Burke's Heating and Air and they happened to to be the very first to promptly reply to me with a written estimate shortly after my request. Mr. Burke owner of Burke's Heating and Air installed my new AC system in March 2022 and this review is written end of May 2022 and outside we've had very hot days with high humidity in past several weeks but inside the house it is cool and comfortable! Highly recommend Burke's Heating and Air, you will thank yourself for making a good decision! I did! Mr. Burke owner of Burke's Heating and Air installed my new AC system that entailed replacing my old 2-ton outside AC unit with a new high-quality dependable 2-ton AC unit and replacing the old existing AC Coil located in the upstairs attic with a new high-quality dependable Coil designed to operate with the new outside AC unit. All the equipment Burke's installed is name brand with solid reputation for quality, dependability, and efficiency. I absolutely recommend Burke's Heating and Air for many reasons including the following, responded to me very promptly (first to reply to me with estimate based on pics I sent) and provided me with honest pricing, honest information on exactly what my AC and Heating systems truly needed and what they didn't need, they did not try to provide me with service I didn't need, they did not try to provide me with parts I didn't need, and they recommended only dependable and quality equipment and parts without me even asking which was already one of my requirements beforehand, and they treated me, the house, and property with great respect! Mr. Burke the owner of Burke's Heating and Air did all the work installing the AC system himself and his work exceeds excellence right down to the important fine minor details most contractors skip over. At the beginning before I signed the invoice to proceed with install, Mr. Burke patiently explained all my replacement equipment options based on my old existing system with pricing for each option and allowed me to decide what equipment to install. Mr. Burke did not tell me what he 'couldn't do' like some other contractors, Mr Burke told what he 'could do' with a positive attitude. After I decided on equipment that I wanted installed based my own experience and on the detailed info Mr Burke provided me without trying to talk me into what to choose, Mr Burke agreed with my choices and explained why my equipment choices are best and that gave me double confidence with Mr. Burke. I turned my A/C for the first time this season and although the fan seemed to be running, no cold air was coming out from the vents. We knew our unit was due for replacement (over 10 yrs. old) but I wasn't expecting it to die while my husband was out of town. Mr. Burke answered my Yelp request. I checked Yelp for his reviews and they were great so I called him. I explained the problem and he was at my house in about 1 hour. He texted me in advance when he was on his way. He arrived right on time with booties, gloves and mask on. Loved it already! He checked the unit outside then the thing in the attic. The problem? The unit was completely empty of refrigerant. There was a leak in the valves upstairs. He gave me 2 suggestions: He could refill the unit but with the understanding that there would be no guarantee that it would last or how long OR we could replace the system since it was already due for a change. There was no pressure whatsoever! He just explained the options very clearly and left it up to me to decide. I called my husband and he and Mr. Burke had a phone chat. We then decided to replace the unit. Mr. Burke would come back in the morning to do the install but, before he left, he refilled the refrigerant so I could have A/C until the next day, and he did not charge for it. The next morning he arrived and he was alone so he did a lot of heavy lifting, carrying, and hard working all by himself. He is very professional, polite and by the book. He explains things clearly, doesn't try to pressure you to buy anything you don't really need. I was so impressed with his work ethic. The man was in that boiling attic toiling away for hours! He took care of the job, and when he was done, he cleaned all the areas where he worked. I highly recommend him, not only because he is so good at his job, but, particularly because I was a woman alone dealing with this very technical situation, yet he never "talked down" to me. I am so thankful for Burke's Heating and Air! We had some problems with our air conditioning system cooling so we called a well-known company in Raleigh to come and see what was causing the issue. We have a home warranty but did not want to involve them until this well-known company came and told us the problem. The company told us basically that our whole HVAC system would need to be replaced at a cost of $18,000 +. We called our warranty company to make a claim and the warranty company sent Burke's. Burke's came the very same day we called. The owner of the company was the one who came and he looked over everything thoroughly. He was so professional and you could tell he had a lot of experience in the HVAC industry. After doing his assessment, it turned out all we needed was some new coolant and a little bit of cleaning to take care of the problem and now our house cools exactly like it should! And Burke's charged us less than $400 for this....they saved us from paying $18,000 unnecessarily to the well-known company and I am forever grateful. The amount of worry and money that Burke's saved us is just indescribable. I will be using Burke's for all of my future HVAC needs! read more

I received quotes from four HVAC contractors including Burke Heating and Air. Walter came out and gave me a competitive quote. Although I did get s couple of quotes that were slightly lower, I felt confident in Walter's ability to provide quality work and Preferred the Trane brand over what the others had to offer. Walter listened to my concerns and worked with me on the cost and length of the warranty to help make me feel better about my choice. I was not disappointed with the quality of the installation. Walter and his mechanic came within days of coming to an agreement and installed both of my units in two days. He came back on a third day to change a circuit breaker and go over his work to make sure everything was in order for the county inspection. The inspection went smoothly and I haven't had a problem so far after a couple of months. PS. They were careful to wear masks and protective booties while working in the house. read more

I know the AC will eventually fail and when it does unexpectedly there is a sense of dread but fortunately I know to call Walter and his apprentice David. This dynamic duo are trustworthy skilled tradesmen that provide excellent customer service. When my blower died, I called and they came out as soon as possible the next day. While changing the capacitor didn't fix the issue, they were able to source and replace the blower motor the following day. I recommend this team to anyone needing either a simple repair to a full replacement. Emergency or not, call them if you need HVAC help in the Wake county area. read more

I needed my 13 year old dying heat pump replaced. I had 3 highly rated companies come to give me estimates. Burke's Heating and Air were the most responsive and Walter even managed to triage my old heater and got it to work long enough to ensure that I did not freeze and my pipes did not burst. Walter also did not try to up sell or over charge me, unlike the other two companies. I was able to get a top of the line heat pump installed in a very short time and can now face this winter without worry. This is a wonderful father and son business that goes above and beyond to make sure you're taken care of. Their prices are extremely reasonable and they have gone out of their way to make sure we've gotten the best deals on parts. We have the maintenance plan with them and I have been so impressed by how proactive they are in reaching out to schedule our maintenance checks. They've come back to install parts after hours without me asking. I've emailed Walter before going to bed about questions or issues and usually have a response by the next morning. Walter really knows what he is doing. If you have any HVAC issue, this is your guy. He has vast experience and can fix any HVAV issue. I called him to provide an estimate on a new system due to what i thought to be a very high estimate to replace my blower motor from my usu al provider. He assessed the problem and recommended a blower motor as opposed to a new system. Can't recommend this guy enough. I'm a very high level DIYer and he explained what he recommended and why. He is in charge of his staff and ensures successful repairs. He will be my first call with any future issues. read more

I came home from a couple of days away to find my heat pump wasn't working. I called Burkes and based on my description Walter told me what the problem most likely was (he was correct). I was very impressed with how he explained everything to me, as well as being able to make it out that same day and fix the problem. Burke's Hearing and Air was the 3rd HVAC company I had come out to figure why my heating wasn't working. The other two companies wanted to sell me a new unit but Mr. Burke was able to fix the problem and save me a ton of money.
