Beautiful and intimate French restaurant with excellent food and service. My husband is from France and was very excited to try this restaurant and it did not disappoint! Everything was delicious from the complimentary bread to all of our apps and entrees. Everything was plated beautifully and was very reminiscent of our time in France. Unfortunately they ran out of crème brûlée which is his favorite so I guess we will just have to come back! However, we shared the chocolate cake for dessert and it was perfect! Would gladly come here again for a delicious and authentic French experience.

Perfectly cooked Chateaubriand!

I go with a group of friends during out annual get together and have never been disappointed. Exquisite view, impeccable service and flawless dishes! The past two years I have had the Chateaubriand and just wow! Perfectly cooked, with tasty vegetables. I have never been able to finish my portion so am thrilled to get to enjoy at lunch the following day :) The wine selection is also surprisingly vast! The waiter has never lets us down, finding the perfect bottle for our meal and mood. This could be a bad thing, so always choose designated driver at start of meal (lol). I have tasted many desserts and the chocolate is devine ! All are good but chocolate is usually my fav!! Make this a stop if you get a chance. It is perfect for quite outing or large group!

This restaurant is great! Chef Dana was super accommodating with my raw foods request. He made me a giant beautiful salad that satisfied. Delicious. Good looking wine list and a nice dining room atmosphere with a beautiful view out the back windows onto a running stream over bedrock. It's great. I find it a tough town to get a good vegetarian raw meal in Manchester, so when I find a place accommodating then I'm a happy visitor. Thanks chef Dana!

We found our new favorite bistro last night! This French inspired bistro has it all. The food,…read moreservice and atmosphere were all excellent. The menu is diverse and different. I had the scallops and they were perfectly prepared. The lamb shank was also excellent. The wine selection is fabulous! We love it!

Overall this was still a positive experience. Now I adore French food! It is probably the best in…read morethe world if you take both sweet and savory flavors into account. It is one of my favorite cuisines to cook and eat, so I was very excited to try this place. However, the service actually outshined the food here. Our server was kind, attentive, friendly and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant wasn't busy that night, we were only one of two tables seated. The escargot was absolutely hands down by far the best thing we ate. I could smell it before it even came to our table! The mushroom sauce was rich, flavorful, herbaceous and so so fragrant. The snails were perfectly cooked and tender! My only critique of this dish was that I wish it was served in puff pastry rather than fillo dough. If you are feeling brave this dish is a must order! The house salad was okay. It was under seasoned. It had some pear slices and tomatoes. It was well dressed with a dijon vinaigrette. The sad part was the mesclun mix, it was old and slimy. I had to eat around the slimy bits which was gross. Now with vivid memories of the last time I had duck confit dancing through my mind, for my entree I ordered the duck confit. I took a bite of this with expectations high and was immediately perplexed. Confit is supposed to be moist, tender, decadently rich and flavorful because the duck is slow cooked in its own fat, which this wasn't. Could not have been. If I was told that this duck was roasted instead, I wouldn't have argued that it was confit at all. But then I tried to fork one of my vegetables. All the root vegetables were still hard and also unseasoned. I don't even understand this. The haricot vert were well cooked but unseasoned. The beef bourguignon fell flat. The sauce was too thin and the root vegetables were also hard on top of this dish. I loved the mashed potatoes because they reminded me of my Nonna. Hers were made with salt water and butter but not with cream so draw your own conclusions lol. The creme brûlée had me truly confused. It had a very unique texture. It wasn't rich and creamy, which comes from the use of heavy cream. It was much lighter, like if it were possible to make creme brûlée with whole milk or maybe half and half. No real discernible vanilla flavor either, definitely no real vanilla bean in here, which is my personal method. I ordered the pear tart and was sorry I did honestly. The tart base, which is typically made with butter in the dough was definitely made with a vegetable fat like crisco instead. And to add insult to injury, I could taste that it was going/had gone bad/tasted overcooked, so basically an unpleasant sour/bitter flavor. The frangipane punched you right in the face with almond extract, it was so overwhelming it ruined the balance of the dessert. But at least it helped mask that tart crust flavor. The caramel sauce was thin and basically flavorless. The pears were still hard. The tart was cold and served with cold ice cream from a carton. I would have thought that a restaurant of this caliber would make their own. In short, don't order the pear tart! Well I think that's all my comments, do with them what you will.

We were a little early for our reservation, so we explored the back for a bit (our reservation was inside). We enjoyed the picturesque landscape and beautiful lights illuminating the yard - this would be a lovely spot for a party or even a small wedding. Inside was also lovely with quaint decor; I particularly loved the simple seasonal hydrangeas on the table. There was a little confusion with our reservation at first, but after sorting that out, we were seated at a comfortable table for our party. Not surprisingly, the menu focuses on seafood and fresh ingredients. We started with the graham cracker encrusted calamari, which was a unique take on a classic dish that worked well! Very crunchy and refreshing. For my entree, I went with the crab-stuffed flounder, which was delightful. I enjoyed the risotto accompanying it and the fresh sauce and arugula. A filling but not stuffing meal that was high quality! Our dining partners all enjoyed their meals as well, focusing mostly on their seafood options. We split a bottle of white wine, which paired nicely with all our entrees and starters. We did not get dessert, and I did not pay for this meal, so I cannot speak to the after dinner menu or the prices. The ambience was excellent and the food was delicious and fresh, so I would definitely return on future visits to Lake George, hopefully sitting outside next time!

I had every expectation that it would the perfect setting for a quiet dinner with a lovely view, exceptional cuisine and attentive service. Unfortunately, for a restaurant of this caliber, they did not meet the mark. Let's start with the good stuff. They have a parking lot which is really appreciated in Bolton Landing, NY. We were warmly greeted at the door and wished Happy Anniversary. We were seated on the porch (our choice of tables because there was only one set of two diners in the restaurant at 6 p.m. on a Sunday night). Off to a good start. I commented about the pretty dress the hostess (at least we assumed she was) who seated us was wearing. A sweet Jamaican gal who goes by "Skinny Girl" offered water and chatted with us (we recognized her Caribbean accent and asked her which Jamaican parish she was from). She was more attentive to us during the evening than our waiter, Owen (he was clearly overwhelmed handling tables on the porch as well as on the patio outside). To his credit, Owen was honest about the crab legs and we were grateful. Service was slow, from drinks to getting the bill. What really rattled our chains is that the hostess in the pretty dress visited diners at every table on the porch - sometimes more than once - except us. We felt ignored. Our drinks were very good. The specialty of the house (a cucumber concoction) was actually the signature drink at our wedding. My husband enjoyed it. My Blood Orange Martini was delicious, albeit $18 which I thought was more like NYC prices. Appetizers were good. I ordered the Escargot which was served on puff pastry with a light cream sauce. Delicious. My husband's Grilled Clams did not look to be grilled at all, and swimming in what appeared to be the same cream sauce as my Escargot which, because he is lactose intolerant, was a concern. My husband's Chef's Choice steak was strip steak, cooked rare as requested, and served over truffle mashed potatoes with asparagus spears on the side. While pricey st $65, he was pleased. I ordered the venison, rare ($41). What was served to me were 2-1/2 small medallions of which two were rare and one was seriously well done (could not eat it). Spinach was on the side. I would have loved some of the yummy truffle mashed potatoes that accompanied my husband's steak. Again, with no one paying attention to us, by the time our waiter came to check on our food, my husband was already finished with his meal. So Owen's offer to return my overcooked venison to the kitchen was not an option. I packed my dinner to go. We asked for an order of churros to share and two coffees (the espresso machine apparently wasn't working). The coffee was old and barely lukewarm. We asked for replacements. One would think that the kitchen staff would try to make up for their two errors and at least provide us with fresh replacements. Nope. They probably microwaved the first two cups. I did not drink mine. This restaurant claims to be rated among the top 100 in the country. We certainly expected better service and care worthy of their New York City prices. I've worked in the hospitality industry for over 40 years and would never disrespect customers like that, especially when they chose my restaurant for a special occasion. So yes, I was disappointed. Would we give Chateau on the Lake another chance? We have so many wonderful choices in Saratoga and Albany (which would have been the same distance). Maybe.

The bar was open till 10, and I should have read the signs then. The bartender refilled a ladies espresso martini drink with another shaker filled of espresso martini in the same glass. Hate that. Then refilled a whiskey on the rocks using the man's same glass that had melted down ice in it, added more ice, and then poured the whiskey, and the pour was way off! The bartender looks up and says you know what you want? No hello, no basic, how can I help you? My husband says, hello, yes we wanted to order something to eat. She very curtly says kitchens closed and walks away. OK then. Without many options in the area, we came next day for an early dinner. This time on time! The kitchen was open! My son got the kids pepperoni pizza. It was soaked in oil. Not edible. I ordered the clam chowder. It was more like salt in a bowl. Horrendous. I could not take more than one bite. My daughter ordered a burger medium with cheddar and fries. The burger was burnt, bun was stale and fries tasted old, like they had been sitting under a heat lamp. My husband got the salmon served over polenta. Bold choice! He was served salmon over potatoes. Salmon was under cooked and flavorless. Food was super slow to come out, two other tables that got there well after us were served before us. The bartender was the server for the restaurant, same women from the previous evening, and seemed completely overwhelmed and inexperienced to be running the bar. She did her best to be attentive, but just couldn't manage by herself. There was a sign in the window about looking for servers, so clear they were understaffed. We left nearly all our food on the table, sadly, made no complaint, paid our check and left. Won't be back but wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Needs much improvement! Board games in the space were well maintained. My son enjoyed those.

Tonight our party of four had the Shrimp Chez Pierre- think scampi but in a tasty batter loaded with a lovely garlic butter sauce, Steak Diane which was flamed at our table and the sole special of the evening. I can honestly say that the shrimp was the best I've had. The accompanying scalloped potatoes and beets were wonderful and the homemade apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream was huge, warm and delicious. The perfect fall compliment to the rest of the meal. My table all loved their meals and desserts were shared afterward. Honestly, we were so full that we probably shouldn't have ordered dessert but since we ate every bite I guess we found room.
