They accommodated our late night, close to the kitchen closing time, order. You can play darts, pool etc. We were here for happy hour earlier that night. Keene has a small downtown and there are not many places that serve vegetarian food, or have anything vegetarian on the menu at all. This place had a decent number of vegetarian appetizers at a really good price during happy hour. Interiors are also quite intriguing. Since I've never been to Britain, I could only guess interiors are similar to an original British pub interiors?

I've always seen the same, friendly bar tender and always taken advantage of the well-priced beers of the month, which ranges over a wide variety of beer types. Sure, it is a dimly lit, well worn dive, but this place is overloaded with character. If you are not a townie or Keene State academic, then "roll deep" as they say and bring your own good time. I spy darts, a foosball table, and popcorn machine with legs like Betty Grable! Also an old school television set with a Magic Hat logo and static to boot, go to Penuche's...you won't spend all your heard-earned loot.

They are located in a great spot, with plenty of parking available. We were lucky weather wise to be able to enjoy the patio, which I highly recommend if you visit during a time that allows it. All of the staff were very friendly and service was quite quick. They do offer wine, cocktails, mocktails and plenty of other non-alcoholic drink options so don't let brewing company scare you away. My wife got their Peach Kolsch and I got their Patio Season (lemon fruited wheat beer) and we enjoyed them. Both paired well with the nice weather day! Food wise my wife got Taco Salad that she very much enjoyed. I got their Peach BBQ Chicken Sandwich that had pulled bbq chicken. It was very tasty and you could get the sweetness from the peaches in the sauce. I do wish it would have been a little more peach forward though. Fries were hot and well seasoned but could have had a little more crisp to them. Overall solid spot, would check it out for those looking for a brewery that serves food and even for those just looking for a meal too! They offer a great variety of food on their menu that everyone in your party should find something to their liking. Like I said above, if weather and time of year allows enjoy the patio!

Bartender didn't impress. Not sure he was experienced. Give away was putting olives on martini containing grapefruit juice, not mention an even number of olives (bad luck). The menus were fancy and I ordered a shaved roast beef sandwich with au jus. Shaved roast beef was on par with Steak-umms. French fries were your typical bagged fries. All in all it was ok at best. Was hoping for a little more given the quality of the other restaurants in the area.

We also got the hot sauce marinated fried chicken sandwich, it was kinda wet and tough. Mass manufactured shoestring fries were also pretty sad fry wise. This used to be one of my favorite spots in Keene before we lived in Colorado. It changed hands a few years ago and hasn't been the same. The old menu was pretty small, and that is usually a sign of freshness and quality control. Service was okay, polite, and mostly accurate until the bartender filled what was remaining of my soda water with tap water. I'd stick with alcohol if you are coming here. The chicken fingers and bacon wrapped chicken were usually winners, I'd try those before anything else. But honestly with the competition in Keene for dining options I'd rather go elsewhere. It seems like you are doing alright covers wise, and I hope both experiences were off moments for you. Sorry to

Can't remember the last time we had fajitas! Most of the upscale Mexican restaurants in our…read moreneighborhood at home are too fancy. On vacation in New Hampshire and Vermont, we drove up to Keene for a casual dinner our 1st night out. The margarita menu, as you might expect from the name, is extensive; there was a time when I could drink them and I loved them! But then was not now. Tonight, hubs and I shared a 16-oz Modelo Especial that they had on draught. They served the full glass with a separate chilled glass, nice. I poured about half; I was driving, and there are several roundabouts to get into and out of town; it wouldn't be too safe if I drank the whole thing myself! Lol Before you order anything, server brings a good sized bowl of warm and tasty tortilla chips with a small bowl of good spicy salsa. We ordered the guacamole appetizer, a large portion on a plate with some fresh pico de gallo. You can get added jalapeños for no charge. Hubs doesn't do 'hot,' so I asked for the jalapeño on the side and got a little dish of slices. Yum with my guac and chips, and yum with my meal! We both ordered vegetable fajitas. These came out shortly after we got the guac, really too quickly. The 2-top table wasn't big enough to accommodate all the dishes! We were still eating guac and chips; a server brought out plates for each of us with: foil-wrapped warm tortillas (we chose corn instead of flour); a small scoop of guac; a pile of shredded cheese; a small scoop of sour cream; a bed of lettuce. Then he and our waitress each came out with a huge wooden board, on top of each was a pan still sizzling! Black beans, rice, and a ton of veggies! The usual onions & peppers, plus some mushrooms, corn kernels, and greens (kale? spinach? not sure). We hadn't had enough time to savor and finish the guac so we didn't want to give it up, but the table didn't have enough room for everything! We put half the remainder on each of our side dish plates in order to get rid of 1 dish. That wouldn't have been an issue if the timing was better, but we managed. Our beer glasses and our water glasses were also on the table, plus the first basket of chips and the small dish of salsa! That said, the food tasted freshly cooked and we enjoyed as much as we could possibly eat!

My first visit wasn't terrible, but it was obvious the bar was understaffed. That's a management issue, not a bartender issue. I stayed patient, but it took an incredibly long time to get any attention. The food was mediocre at best, but I wasn't expecting fine dining--just a decent meal and reasonable service. I decided to give them another chance a few days later because everyone can have an off night. This time it was a Saturday. The restaurant wasn't busy, and the bar had plenty of open seats. As I sat down, the bartender's greeting was, "I have a lot to do, so get comfortable." Not exactly a welcoming first impression. I tried to be understanding, but after sitting there for about 15 minutes without anyone coming over, I noticed someone who appeared to be the manager walking around without stepping in to help. At that point I decided it was time to leave. As I got up, both the bartender and the manager made eye contact with me, and neither made the slightest effort to acknowledge the wait, apologize, or ask me to stay. Looking back, I should have read the reviews before going. There are plenty of similar complaints, followed by the same generic management responses saying they're sorry and will do better. Based on my experience, those responses feel like lip service. If the same problems keep happening, it doesn't seem like there's much interest in actually fixing them. There are too many restaurants competing for people's business to treat customers this way. I won't be back.
