I got there late and the bar was still open and food was available! Bartender was new but multitasking with a half full bar and a few tables too. Fish tacos were very nice with a bit of spice but could have been a bit more on the moist or had a sauce to add moisture. Chips were perfect and salsa was fresh but someone should take the lime away from the person making it as the lime was very strong. Overall I liked the food and the staff was very pleasant. 100% the worst restaurant experience i have ever had. We were told to seat ourselves and our server would be with us shortly. It took someone 15 minutes to realize we were there. We Picked the cleanest looking table and sat down- only to find it was never wiped down. Our server brought us the wrong drinks. He did not provide any utensils or napkins. when asked for napkins we were given an attitude and sarcasm. after sitter awhile we noticed the floor was noticeably filthy, and people coming in continued to seat themselves at dirty tables. It was not busy. Many servers walking through the floor and not one took it upon themseves to tidy up a single table the whole two hours we sat there. We had the hectors quesadilla. One with beef, the other birria. We both got food poisoning within 6 hours. Absolutely horrible service and will never be back. read more

We just moved to Keene, and my parents came to visit and see our home. We thought we would take them out to a late lunch to welcome them to Keene for the first time, which didn't turn out as we had hoped. We had a party of 5, and came in shortly after 3PM. A table was available immediately, and the hostess led us to a table and walked away, clearly not looking at the table or booth, both of which were covered in cheese, taco meat, crayons, and more. They had just opened, so clearly this was from the night before. The hostess came back over at our request and wiped it down quickly. I wish I could say it was just the seating that was dirty, but no. There was food on the floor, the window sills looked like they've NEVER been cleaned, the water glasses had cheese dried onto them, and there was dust on everything. Not only was the restaurant physically dirty and disgusting, the food was not great. It was bland, and took FOREVER to come out. They also didn't have the Poblano Stuffed Pepper even though it was a Saturday shortly after opening, and had to check with the kitchen if they could do lettuce wraps instead of tortilla even though that's also printed on the menu. When the food finally did come out, we weren't provided with enough utensils, and when we request them, the waiter didn't come back for 15 minutes. The waiter also spilled some of the Rocket Pop 'Rita on the table, and he tried to quickly wipe it off, but was unsuccessful. We request additional napkins to wipe it up, but only received 3 napkins to clean a spill. To add to the discomfort and unease, at the end of all this, they read the bill out to the table to confirm the order, and then the total. We were taking my parents who were visiting from out of state for the first time, and I really would have appreciated if they didn't know how much the bills was. I also couldn't see the receipt before paying, which made me extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I both worked in restaurants as managers, and this was unacceptable on every level from beginning to end. Do better. read more

Slow. Slow. Slow. Cinco de Mayo. Not very full. Early afternoon on a Sunday. Drinks took forever to arrive. Too full. Slopping the goodness all over the place. Food was okay. Steak fajitas ordered medium rare. Some pieces mooing. Ordered "extra" portion. Glad I did because I think it would have been pretty short. Rice was not all cooked right. Quite a few pieces hard as a rock. Taco salad was small but tasty according to wife. Margaritas were okay. Either the tequila was very watered down or shorted for the size. Good food, but awful service. I went with a party of three. The server brought our food out, but my order was wrong. I explained politely, but instead of acknowledging his mistake, the server argued with me about what I ordered. I have never had a server argue with me, especially about what I told them I had ordered. The other two in my party ate their meals while I waited for mine to be remade. The rest of my party was nearly finished eating when my server came back and asked me to clarify how I wanted my meal prepared. I told him at this point it was too late; the others in my party would be done eating by the time my food came out, so I asked to have my meal taken off the bill. He gave me more attitude about this, which really surprised me. Later, as the rest of my party was finishing up, a different server came out with my corrected order. I had to explain that I had nixed my entree, which was really awkward. Also, the server forgot my drink order (he asked me what I wanted to drink twice, but never brought it over). When we asked for the check, we had to wait 20+ minutes for it to come out When we got the check, the drink I never got was still listed on the check, so we had to flag him down and get that corrected. I really don't like complaining about businesses or bad service -- I don't think I've ever written a negative review for a restaurant before -- but this was a real circus. I wouldn't have minded messing up my order so much (accidents happen), but the attitude really bothered me. read more

Came recommended by the hotel across the street, and overall had a good experience. The weather was perfect, so we opted to eat out front on the patio. The hostess was *really* fabulous when we asked about nut allergies. She was very knowledgeable and accommodating (since her brother lives with similar allergies). She checked back in the kitchen and talked to the chefs for us. Server was a tad spacey but sweet, and the food hit the spot. The only 'thumbs down' was the loud motorbikes roaring by every minute or two, but this had nothing to do with the restaurant so I didn't dock any stars. Just know if you want a quiet evening, don't sit outdoors because it's the main drag for bikers. Would recommend for out of town guests and locals alike. read more

We read mixed reviews but decided to give it a try. Wait staff was on point. Great people. The food.....first the plates were 783 degrees and they sucked all the moisture out of the rice. My hubby and I both got chicken chimechongas. They were stuffed so full of mozzarella cheese that it actually made me nauseated, and I'm a big panzarotti fan. My husband described the beans as tasting like the burned handle of the pot. Everything was so hot that the sour cream and guacamole melted. We left so much food on our plates that it didn't even count as a meal. If you too are on the fence, I recommend not doing it. read more

Chain restaurant that always has a nice ambience. Staff is friendly. Food is just average. Today I had the shrimp lettuce tacos that were rated 1/5. Shrimp was flavorful but it was drenched in a sauce that was overwhelming. I would not get them again. Taco selections are just that...tacos... no rice or beans to accompany them unless you order that a la carte. My husband had the combo plate rated 4/5. Okay I must say it's a beautiful place. Love the decor and it looked clean. Now that's said it might be because I'm from California which I really enjoy the Mexican food style that I haven't really found what I'm used to eating in New England yet. So along with that knowledge the food was okay but not my favorite. And I bought a two margaritas which the first one was awesome, second one was unfortunately really bad. Which I paid $15 and couldn't drink. I just left it on the table untouched except for one sip. If it's my choice I don't think I'll be a returning customer. There are a few times in life when a meal is so expertly crafted and planned that it is nothing short of genius. Tonight, was not one of those meals. The queso was more like beer cheese. We drive through Keene every so often and decide to stop at Margaritas on a Friday night. Pleasant hostess. Pleasant staff. Food horrible. Worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. I am giving Margaritas 2 stars only because of the staff. Guacamole was just o.k. My husband had skillet enchiladas and the amount of beef in the enchiladas was the size of a quarter but if you have a hankering for cheese this is the place to be. I ordered a vegetarian skillet. I counted 3 peppers and 5 mushrooms no corn and who bakes lettuce in the oven.... Horrible. Great spot in Keene that place can be hopping but they definitely need to care more about the food they serve . read more

I haven't been here for a year bcuz food is always messed up, orders get mixed up, silverware is dirty, and the kitchen is filthy (according to a maintenance tech I know who was there doing repairs). I asked for no cilantro and grilled shrimp in my salad and it arrived with no shrimp and full of cilantro. I had to wsit 20 minutes for it to come back after dish was fixed. this was a fun place to go when I was in college but idk what happened, the last 4x I've been there everything went wrong. I went during a "special" cinco de Maya , and our drinks were served in plastic disposable cups, there were no discounts as advertised, and the food was basic. you'd think a chain restaurant could get things right. read more

Our waitress was great...she gets stars! But, huge negatives are killing this place. First, it smells. Like open-the-door-to-enter-&-get-blasted-by-musty-stink smells. I literally started to turn to leave but my daughter was "starving" so we stayed. The booth we were seated at was dirty & sticky; the floor was sticky; the bathroom smelled & was sticky. Went on a Tuesday night. They used to have Taco Tuesday's, but that is yet another Covid casualty. Parked on Main Street, only to be confronted by two VERY drugged, middle aged individuals on the bench in front of my vehicle. Thanks to the Keene City Council, this is a common occurrence and has driven a lot of people away from Downtown Keene. To the point...As a result of the actions of the local governance, businesses are struggling to survive and the quality of food in many places has gone way downhill. The food at Margaritas was bland and tasteless. That said, I realize the situation as a whole and dont blame the restaurant entirely. We will go an hour out of our way to eat at better restaurants in safer areas. Found a great Mexican restaurant, Mi Corazon, in Greenfield, NH. Keene needs to clean up its act. Terrible customer service. Under trained staff, and complete ignorance regarding restaurant edict. They help the rude customers who cut the line and snap their fingers at them first. While completing pushing aside patient customers who have been waiting and next in line. We were called to our table after our 45 minute wait, when I didn't like being rudely passed by I spoke up and was quickly told they were more important. Which was obvious when they walked through the packed door passed the line and snapped their fingers for instant service. Out of all the Margaritas I have been to, which is a good handful, this one is by far my favorite. The jail cell tables are hilarious and add to the aesthetic, the drinks are decently priced and the bar is roomy, and the food is, at it's worst, still always an enjoyable experience. First time at this particular location and it will be my last. The best part of this dining experience was the Diet Coke we ordered to drink. Food quality was awful, and I could not even bring myself to take more then two bites off the tio's burrito which was covered in wilted lettuce and sour cream. The burrito came with steak filling which a had a pot roast taste.Not sure where they get off calling this crap Mexican food. It's pretty bad when the Taco Bell taste better then food being served at this establishment. Our server was not attentive and not once cleared any plates or cups off our table. Even with reservations it took over 20 minutes to be seated, over 30 minutes to be seen by a waiter and almost two hours to receive our food which was not very good at all. I'd understand if it was very busy and short-staffed, but it was not very busy and it even seemed that staff were standing around. I will not be returning. read more

5 star food, 1 star service Me and my husband came into margaritas for the first time in a while the other night, and the experience was definitely different to say the least. The fajitas we got were good as always, the rice wasn't as good as it used to be, but the service we got was sub par. We had a young lady as our server and she was super sweet but didn't smile very much. Which isn't a big deal because she was still very helpful, but there was nothing but happy faces last time we came in. The older white-haired gentleman who brought us our food (I assume management because he was wearing different clothes) was the worst part of this experience. When he dropped off our food he was very short and snappy with us and we could hear him talking under his breath as he walked away. And on top of all that, I saw him yell at the hosts and servers in front of guests, and I don't know the full context but I even heard the words "you are sh*t" spoken to one of the employees. Margaritas, I loved the food but you need to figure out the customer service part of the restaurant business. The restaurant is quite large and the decor is very authentic. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. A large selection on the menu but many great choices.
