Being a little bit of a trek from where we live, and having heard that this was probably the best Vietnamese pho place in New Jersey I was shocked that Miss Saigon lived up to the hype and our expectations. I've been wanting to come here for a while but keep forgetting about it. I finally remembered one day to come here for dinner. We arrived and got immediately seated. Daughter ordered the R0 Com Suon Nuong, Trung Cha & Trung Chien, which is rice with grilled pork chop, egg meatloaf and fried egg. Daughter liked it a lot. She said that the meatloaf was her favorite part of the meal. Hubs had the P14 Bun Bo Hue, spicy beef noodles. Hubs was really disappointed in this because this entree normally has duck blood. An unassuming family run spot, which seemed to be in a random spot, that my husband and I came across during our search for Vietnamese food on our drive back home to DC. It was empty when we got there and only two other tables got filled while we dined. We were surprised by how extensive their menu was! We ordered cafe sua da/nong, bun bo hue, banh beo chen, cha gio, and com suong. The portion for the bun bo was hefty. Lots of meat which I appreciated. I just wish there was more of a lemongrass and spice. We both absolutely loved the coffee - they stayed true to the drip style. Most places in the DMV served you coffee already dripped and mixed. Having the drip at the table gave the coffee the strong flavor we're used to. Don't skip out on the coffee if you go. If you're curious about any item, I definitely recommend the banh beo chen. We're always searching for that item in Falls Church, which has a large Vietnamese population, and you'd be surprised how few places actually serve this dish. So, this restaurant having this is such a treasure!! They do a great job with the steaming of the mixture and the toppings. I can't say we'd come back to this place, because it was an out of the way stop for us on our drive home. This review is for everyone in the area....TRY THIS PLACE!!! A pleasant surprise in central jersey where I did not expect authentic vietnamese to be a thing! While the interior was a bit awkward (nice paintings on the wall but a bit sensual, but then an empty fish tank smack in the rear-middle section?), the highlight was the service and food. As some have said their shrimp spring roll was really good, though my son could not appreciate it as much. Pho had great broth with nice quantity of beef for my chewing pleasure. My son's small pho was just enough quantity for him, with enough meat as well though I had to donate some. I wish I remembered the young man's name but I think it was like John but my, his bright attitude with utmost politeness really made my lunch a pleasurable experience. Hmm. We drove 25 mins to eat pho here last night, visiting family in NJ and wanted to treat ourselves to great pho! Many great reviews here on yelp but we were disappointed. We don't need a fantastic ambience to enjoy a great meal but this restaurant was extremely spare and dingy, with a sticky floor, very worn furniture with nothing on the tables (a paper or fabric tablecloth?). I would like to take a moment to highlight our server, who was very friendly and helpful. Our soup was nice and hot and the portion size was perfect. My husband got the canh chua tom (Vietnamese shrimp hot and sour soup), a favorite of ours from other experiences, he said the shrimp was either old or overcooked or both, but the broth was great. Too much celery and not enough (or any) tomatoes, mushrooms, okra etc. We were going to get our usual pho ga (chicken) but decided to try the grilled and marinated chicken pho instead. I regretted doing so because the chicken itself tasted funny to me, and I am very familiar with how Vietnamese style grilled chicken is supposed to taste. The pho broth was great. The bean sprouts had an off taste, not that they were old but tasted like bad water, unclean refrigerator (??). They did not provide basil, as if we wouldn't know that pho is supposed to be served with a nice plate of fresh herbs with the sliced pepper, bean sprouts, lime. All in all I'd try another restaurant or go back to our usual in Howell even though it's even farther away, before going back here. read more
