Marinated leeks, anchovy, parsley, pistachios -- 7.2/10 The flavor was sour-sweet, almost reminiscent of kimchi. The texture combined the layered tenderness of the leeks with the crunchiness of the pistachios. The dish had multiple layers of flavor and was very appetizing. Bucatini, braised lamb, pepperoncini -- 9/10 The distinctive aroma of the tender lamb was fully integrated into the pasta. The bucatini was chewy and perfectly coated in the sauce. A great pasta dish. Overall, the food was very solid. The two of us walked in and were seated at the kitchen counter. Even though we were right by the kitchen, the cooking process wasn't loud and actually made for a pleasant background atmosphere. The only downside was that the service was a bit slow--we waited over 30 minutes before our pasta was served. The price, excluding alcohol, came to around $45-50 per person after tax and tip, which was well worth the experience.

Went to Misi in Brooklyn on a weeknight with two friends who were visiting New York City. We were running late, but I was able to call and push our reservation back about 45 minutes without issue. We were eventually seated near the front window by the entrance. I have been to Misi six or seven times and have worked my way through much of the menu. It remains one of my favorite Italian restaurants in NYC. While it is certainly not inexpensive, I find it more reasonably priced than many other upscale Italian restaurants in the city, and the quality of the ingredients and relative simplicity of the dishes makes it worth the cost. The menu is centered around antipasti (primarily vegetable-focused small plates), house-made pastas, an occasional meat special, and gelato for dessert. They also have an extensive wine list. We started with the seasonal white asparagus ($26) and the grilled artichokes ($24), a dish I have ordered many times before. The white asparagus was served in a rich butter and pecorino sauce with guanciale sprinkled on top, while the artichokes were finished with a mint salsa verde that added brightness and lots of flavor. For pasta, we ordered the sheep's milk ricotta-filled occhi in lemon butter sauce ($30), the spinach and mascarpone-filled tortelli with brown butter ($31), and the rigatoni ($28). The occhi and tortelli were both fantastic -- the fresh pasta was delicate, the filling melted in your mouth, and both dishes were packed with flavor without feeling heavy. We wanted at least one pasta with a red sauce, so we added the rigatoni, but it was not quite as interesting. We also asked the sommelier to recommend a bottle in the $90-$100 range and ended up with the San Barnaba Langhe Freisa from Piedmont. It was an excellent choice, not too heavy and great flavor, and very interesting-- had not had something like it before. The restaurant itself has a modern aesthetic, with metal and stone accents, clean lines, and an open kitchen. There is also a full bar. Every time I have visited, the dining room has been completely full, as it was during this visit. The staff is consistently attentive, knowledgeable, and professional. Overall, the two vegetable dishes, three pastas, and bottle of wine were the perfect amount for three people. After six or seven visits, Misi continues to deliver one of my favorite Italian dining experiences in NYC.

Al dente done perfect! I'm admittedly not a huge pasta fan, but I can tell this is executed well. While the flavors are appetizing, the ricotta toast is actually the star of the show. I didn't want it to end. The ricotta is a fluffy, delicate topping that melts with each bite. Beautiful and yummy. The gnocchi is different than I was expecting--it's more of a rolled pasta vs a starchy, potato dough that I'm use to. My original table had a shaky leg, and once we told the staff, they immediately repaired it. Very impressed!

Have to start by saying I had no idea pasta could taste this good....genuinely transformative and otherworldly pasta. I got the chickpea pappardelle and tortelli and was completely blown away by both. The flavors are so complex and delicious. It was a huge pain to make a reservation, and it ended up being a 5:15pm chef's counter seat. I actually enjoyed seeing food being prepared (though was a little put off by meat/vegetables touching on the grill). Service was good, our water glasses were consistently filled up and everyone was warm and friendly. The place is hip and modern, not overly decorated but very comfortable and well-designed. I hope to be back soon!

Overall, Misi lived up to the hype and was easily one of the better modern Italian dining experiences I've had in Williamsburg. The atmosphere is sleek and vibrant, and you can tell how much thought goes into the handcrafted pasta and simple, high-quality ingredients. Here is what we tried: Whipped Ricotta Toast with Peppers: Went viral for a reason. The ricotta is super fresh, light, and pairs perfectly with the charred bread. Only downside is it gets a bit messy to eat, especially with the peppers spilling over, but it's well worth it. (8/10) Zucchini Fritti: Surprisingly my favorite dish of the meal. The fried texture was perfectly crispy and light, without feeling heavy or oily at all. Topped generously with pecorino romano cheese for the ultimate salty bite. (9/10) Spinach and Mascarpone Filled Tortelli: Deep richness from the brown butter sauce paired with very dense, high-quality pasta. Pure comfort food executed at a high level. (8.5/10) Sheep's Milk Ricotta Filled Occhi: First time trying occhi, and it did not disappoint. The pasta was densely filled with smooth sheep's milk ricotta, and the bottarga (fish roe) with lemon added a fantastic savory brightness. (8/10) Service & Vibe The open kitchen adds great energy to the room, and the service was attentive despite how packed it gets. Pro Tip: Reservations are tough to snag, so book well in advance or try walking in right when they open for a bar seat. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the pasta menu!

Had dinner for my birthday here. Reservations are definitely needed if you want to dine here. The restaurant is gorgeous, staff are super friendly and helpful with the menu. We got the butter beans to start and they were so good and saucy. We were going to ask for some bread to go with it and our waitress brought some without us even asking. We weren't super hungry, so we only got two pastas: the spinach and marscapone tortelli and the nduja bucatini. Both were delicious but the spinach tortelli was some of the best pasta I've had. Highly recommend Misi, hopefully will be back soon.

We snagged a spot with a couple hours of waiting despite having no reservation. Everything we ordered was delicious. An overall pretty good place for pasta! I wasn't super impressed by the ricotta toast itself but the mushrooms it came along with were the best. I actually liked the occhi better than the tortellini. It had a good umami taste paired with lemon and was very filling. Tried olive oil gelato here for the first time and was impressed!

A very popular spot. The only reservation we could get on a Friday was a "seniors' time" of 5:30 PM at the counter--although the place was not packed when we arrived. It had been recommended by many, although our daughter had warned us it was "just OK." Everything is small plates designed for sharing. Cocktails were well made and service was very good. Our dinner was decidedly mixed. The slow-roasted tomatoes were superb; the grilled baby artichokes were overly oily; the spinach and mascarpone-filled tortelli was heavenly; and the chitarra with braised lamb and pepperoncini was, unfortunately, just plain bad. Add one glass of wine and tip, and damages were $235. Some real highs, but too uneven for the price. Likely our first and only visit.

Really Delicious as there pastas and presentation really make the experience. Went with a friend to enjoy ricotta toast, fennel salad, and pastas. Loved the toast with onions adding a nice combo as well as brown butter pasta. Everything was so clean and fresh with great service- really recommend

I know that Misi is notoriously difficult to get a table, so I'd recommend for drinks and apps before the crowd! Got 3 spots here without a problem around 5pm on a Monday after strolling through Domino Park with great Manhattan views. Misi is about 2 minutes from there. When we arrived to grab a spot at the bar, the hostess mentioned that they are full service only. Great news for us since it gave an excuse to order the ricotta crostini. SO delicious. The mushrooms on top of the creamy ricotta and salty, crusty bread was perfection. The cocktails were great, too, and the space was bright with elevated vibes. Would love to come back for pasta.

I really enjoyed my experience dining at Misi. We got the ricotta crostini which was delicious. It's a beautiful dish and the cold creaminess of the ricotta pairs well with the crunch of the crostini. It's a thick topping of ricotta which is nice. The butter beans as an appetizer were delicious. I loved the mix of cheese with greens and the slow cooked beans. For pastas we got the spinach and marscapone tortelli and pork sugo strangozze. I loved the tortelli. The filling was creamy and flavorful. The strangozze was nice too, but a bit too salty for my liking. Our server gave great recommendations. They were quick to seat us and we never felt like we were waiting around for them.

4-5 years ago I went to Misi's sister restaurant Lilia and while I had a good meal, was not blown away. This weekend, I happened to find an open reservation for 1 person at the bar at Misi so I took it as an opportunity to try this place. I was sat at the secondary bar, not the seating in front of the open kitchen. One of the highlights for me was the really great service I had at the bar. Every server was attentive and on top of everything. Normally I hate bar seating as you can feel ignored, this was not the case here. The restaurant is loud and filled up quickly after opening at 5pm. What I had - Grilled persimmon appetizer - perfect for 1-2 people to share. Loved the smoked ricotta salata, wish they had added even more Squash filled Caramelle - loved the horseradish shreds on top, a perfect balanced dish of sweet and savory flavors Amaretti cookie gelato - Very good but I think I would try the chocolate next time I also had a glass of white wine, I forgot the name but it was on the sweet side, which I liked. I thought Misi was a solid dinner. It's been a while since I went to Lilia but I want to say that I liked Misi more. I remember everything at Lilia tasting overly salty. I did not use the restroom so I cannot comment on it. The entrance and restaurant seem to be ADA compliant.

Been once for brunch and once for dinner. Reserve weeks ahead so you can get a table. Interior is a lot of white tile and Edison bulbs which gives a clean, industrial look. In the daytime this place is really bright and airy and at night it becomes dim and calm. Great for small groups or dates. Good service and I have never felt rushed here. My favorite pasta is the spinach and mascarpone tortelli. The brown butter is perfection. I also liked the fettuccine with parmesan and black pepper and bucatini with nduja. The fettuccine pasta is thin and seasoned lightly so it's like a cacio e pepe "lite" that's less intense. The bucatini is al dente red sauce goodness. The ricotta crostini rotates through different vegetable pairings. The first time around it came with roasted peppers, the second time with trumpet mushrooms. This is one of their social media hype dishes but you have to get it, at least once. Mushroom plus ricotta plus chunky salt plus crispy bread makes a delicious combination. Don't let the toast sit too long or else the ricotta will slowly spill over the edges. The butter beans are another popular starter here. There's a small hit of spice with parmesan and some greens. It's good and feels like a nice way to balance out the carbs everywhere else, but you could save this for a second visit. For gelatos, I love the mint straciatella. It tastes like fresh picked mint and not the artificial saccharine mint from the grocery store pints. The double chocolate chip is also great but perhaps less memorable. Expensive but I really like some of the dishes here so I'll be back.

I have a reservation for Misi for kitchen counter seating and one for Lilia normal dining seating. It's a birthday dinner for a family member. Which restaurant would you recommend?

If your group is more than 2 people, I would go with normal seating at Lilia

Is there a specific time that reservations become available 30 days out?

    10am on Resy

    Is there outdoor dining?

    No there is not

How do you get a reservation? Everytime I try it's always booked.

Reservations release 30 days prior to the specific day. It's extremely difficult because they will be taken in the first few minutes. I recommend downloading the Resy app for a better chance, but if you don't get it at first, then sign up to be…

Do they have high chairs? Would it be appropriate to take my 1.5yo there for lunch?

I've seen them with one. Not the best place for a child but lunch shouldn't be as hectic as dinner.

Do you need a reservation... can you show up on a fri night same day if the system doesn't let you make a reservation and the phones not answering?

    You definitely need a reservation

Does their menu have gluten free options?

there are non pasta items so yeah definitely worth checking out

Are there any vegan options? Also not cooked in butter?

We went with another couple, one of whom is vegan and selected the restaurant. There were many vegan options. I don't remember about butter but we ate very well.

Anybody know what the corkage fee is?

    They have wine

    Is there a corkage fee?

I don't recall seeing a byob option on the menu.

Is it possible to get a table for 2 at dinner as a walk in on a sat or sun if i go right at opening or late?

Yes, I would get there like 10-15 min before opening, maybe even earlier if it's good weather.

Is the lunch menu different from the dinner menu?

    Nope - it's the same.

Would a 1 and 2yo be fine to bring for a 5:30 or 6pm dinner?

Yah probably earlier on would be best. Definitely make a reservation and might be good to give a heads up to the restaurant but you should be fine! :)

Since they don't answer the phone - I get it - I think the answer is obvious, but I want to confirm they DO NOT do take out? Thanks Alley

Piccola Cucina Casa is a charming, modern restaurant, and overall I had a pleasant enough dinner,…read morebut there were enough small issues that the experience landed closer to average than exceptional for me. The first issue is the arrival setup. There is very little room to wait inside, aside from a small area near the entrance, so depending on how busy it is you may end up waiting outside. More awkwardly, there did not seem to be a dedicated host stationed at the front during our visit. The people handling seating were farther into the restaurant, so you have to walk partway through the dining room to figure out whom to speak with, only to then be directed back toward the entrance. It is a relatively minor design and operational issue, but it makes the arrival feel less polished than the room itself. The restaurant is otherwise attractive and has a lively, intimate feel. My cocktail was fine, but not particularly memorable. For dinner, I ordered the paccheri ai tre crostacei with langoustine, lobster and shrimp. The seafood itself was enjoyable, but the pasta struck me as undercooked rather than simply pleasantly al dente. The food also came out extremely quickly, to the point that the meal felt rushed. I cannot say whether the speed directly caused the pasta issue, but taken together, the pacing and the undercooked pasta made the dish feel as though it could have benefited from a little more time. A practical note about the dish: it is very much a shell-on preparation. There was shell with some of the lobster as well, so anyone who dislikes dealing with shells should know that before ordering. Also, although lobster is included in the description, I would not order this expecting a particularly generous amount of lobster. It is better thought of as a mixed shellfish pasta rather than a lobster-forward dish. We did not order appetizers, so I cannot pretend this was a comprehensive survey of the kitchen. That is one reason I would not make sweeping claims about the restaurant based on this meal alone. Nothing about the evening was disastrous. The restaurant is appealing, the meal was perfectly edible, and there were things to like. But between the awkward check-in setup, the rushed pacing, an unremarkable cocktail, and pasta that seemed undercooked, I also did not leave feeling that I had experienced something especially memorable. For me, this was a solid three-star dinner: pleasant and somewhat above average in atmosphere, but with enough execution and pacing issues that I would have difficulty rating the experience higher based on this visit.

Overall it was good, but the combination needed better balance. The gorgonzola had a pretty aggressive bite, and paired with the saltiness of the prosciutto it became a little much. There were some greens underneath, and once I incorporated those into each bite, they mellowed everything out considerably. I actually think the greens needed to be treated as part of the dish rather than essentially garnish. For my entrée I had the special, a risotto with clams and octopus. The octopus was easily the best part. The clams were extremely small and pretty average, to the point that I'm not sure they added much to the dish at all. The risotto itself was also surprisingly bland and not particularly enjoyable on its own. Mixed with the octopus, however, it worked much better and became a genuinely enjoyable bite. That's ultimately where the dish felt a little uneven: the strongest component was carrying the rest of the plate rather than everything working together. Service was fine when I arrived, but became noticeably slower once the outdoor seating filled up. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor sections, but appeared to have only two servers, with the hostess also serving and a barback supporting the operation. Once the patio got busy, most of the staff's attention shifted outside and the indoor dining room received considerably less attention. Nobody seemed lazy or inattentive individually. It simply looked understaffed for the number of tables they were trying to cover. One additional server during the busy period probably would have made a substantial difference. And, admittedly a minor thing, an Italian restaurant having limoncello but no amaretto was disappointing. Nothing here was terrible. The appetizer had good ideas, the octopus was quite good, and the meal had several enjoyable moments. The food and service were just inconsistent enough that I couldn't quite call it a strong three-star experience, but it was close. I'd put it around 2.75 stars, which I'm comfortable rounding to three.

Lilia has been on my Brooklyn bucket list for a long time, and I finally got to try it -- and…read morehonestly, it was incredible. Of course, we did what we always do; showed up without a reservation haha... It was packed, and the hostess told us the was no way they could seat us. Defeated, we went outside ans sat on a bench trying to figure out our next move. Then the unimaginable happened. One of the people running the floor passed us outside, started chatting with us, and said, "let me double-check". A few minutes later, he came back and got us a table! He make sure we understood that we only had it for a short window bc they needed it back at a certain time -- but we got at least hour and a half to enjoy it so we were THRILLED. To us that was more than enough. He really went out of his way to make it happen, and honestly wish I remembered his name so I could give him the credit he deserves. And the service from there was outstanding. Even though we knew we had a time restriction, we never felt rushed or hurried for a second. Everything felt relaxed, attentive, and perfectly paced, which made them whole experience even better. Once we sat down, we started ordering as quickly as possible. The grilled clams were insanely good -- flavorful and with just the right little kick. The Nduja & sungold tomato toast was surprise favorite. The tomatoes were so juicy, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Simple, but SO good. The little gem salad was fresh, crunchy and exactly what we needed in between all the richer dishes. For pastas, I had the mafaldini with parmigiano, one of their signatures, and it was delicious. BUT... I have to give the win to my husband's pick, rigatoni alla diavola. I know they are completely different dishes, and Im usually a white-sauce kind of girl, but there was something about that bold, spicy flavor that just HIT THE SPOT. And dessert... The vanilla soft serve gelato and the warm rasberry tart together were the perfect combination -- creamy, warm, fruity, and just the right way to finish our lucky dinner. Lilia was absolutely worth the wait and definitely lived up to the hype. Another Brooklyn spot checked off the list -- and one I'd happily go back to.

For starters: the bread was good (hard to mess up though?) the squash was fine, and I wish the tomatoes had been heirloom or thicker cut. For mains: the sheep's milk agnolotti was not for me, it was oddly sweet, I'm honestly not sure why it's so popular. The rigatoni and gnocchi were very good - the rigatoni was perfectly al dente paired with good flavor and the texture of the gnocchi was perfect. Highly recommend ordering these. Dessert: they definitely don't skimp on the dessert, we each got our own but the gelato options were definitely shareable. They also had amaro options which I always appreciate but didn't get this time. The space was a little cramped indoors though that didn't bother me as much as the temperature. It was a really hot summer day and I don't think they had air conditioning? Or if they did it definitely was not at an ideal temperature as I didn't feel like there was much air circulation.

Oh the old school thrill of an old school beauty of an establishment like Bamonte's!…read more I just love this place so much! I can't say enough great things about the decor the ambience and imagining all of the past goings on in this restaurant. It's been watching over Brooklyn for well over 100 years now! That in itself is a Herculean feat! From what I was told it was very popular with the mob as they say... And that's why the kitchen which is at the very back of the restaurant has full glass windows so that you can see exactly what's going on in there. I guess some of these mob guys were paranoid and rightly so consider considering their history. I arrived with my friend on a Wednesday evening about 6 PM and there were some scattered tables but by 7 PM it was mobbed (pun intended ) in there!! our waiter was affable and patient and a quite enjoyable fellow. As a sidenote, you will not find any female servers they are all male which l lends to the old school vibe in my opinion. My friend ordered the lamb chops with broccoli Rabe. He enjoyed them but did mention that though they had great flavor one of them was slightly tough... It happens... My meal was pasta with Bolognese sauce with a dollop of fresh ricotta on top. It was delicious actually the sauce was excellent. I would've liked to have a different pasta shape but they did not have it. No biggie. I could really say the food was very good but it was not excellent but for me that was not an issue as I fell in love with the place itself. The service was excellent and the ambience was fantastic! I would definitely return again and I highly recommend it if you have never been you must at least go one time!!
