Getting my hair washed was the most uncomfortable thing. It felt like he was trying to give his dog a bath. He was rough and kept tugging at my hair. He didn't wrap a towel around my wet hair and my shirt was soaked. The whole consultation about how I wanted my hair to be cut was about 30 secs long. My hair didn't look any different than before. Nikos is awesome! I just moved to Arlington last week and my friend and Yelp both suggested this place. I called in the morning 3 times until I could talk to a person and they kindly gave me an appointment the same day. Upon my arrival everyone were friendly and Niko was working on another customer. A bit of waiting until he got to me. Warmly welcomed and consulted. He listened to what I want and did the same thing. Again a bit of waiting in shampooing room, but Niko nicely offered me wine. I enjoyed my haircut and styling and alsoNiko's personality. He also gave me some tips for how to take care of my hair and what kind of color should I buy if I wanna do if myself. Barely had time to sit and read when I got there, as I was taken to the back to get my hair washed Niko helped me and was awesome. He listened, went over the plan several times, and was very courteous. The Miracles Amazon oil that he put in was also very nice. Made my hair feel great all day. He offered to blow dry my hair, but I declined. You pay with your card/their iPad, but tips are separate. I wish I knew this; would have brought a bit more cash. Overall, really great place. I have medium-lengtth curly hair and have gotten a basic layered cut from Elie twice now, following Yelp reviews. It's definitely cheaper than some places around here (maybe $30 for cut-and-blow-dry?), and I can't tell the difference between here and a more expensive place. The first time, on a weekend morning, they had coffee cake and pieces of watermelon on the coffee table in the waiting area, so that was nice. The second time, at lunch on a weekday, no snacks, but that's ok. I didn't have to wait longer than 15 minutes either time. The atmosphere is very "young and hip" and they play Top 40 music. The location is Rosslyn next to the new Roti. Because the cuts are so cheap, the coupon here on Yelp is not necessary, and may lead to you buying unnecessary products up front because the coupon must all be used at once. And then the products end up being bad for your hair. Or maybe that's just me. read more

Needed a new place to get my haircut, since getting one only when back in Jersey became silly. Miracles was right down the street, see it everyday on my walk home, so I figured why not? Really great experience. Got George, who is awesome, and changed up my hairstyle for the first time in over 5 years. It turned out perfect. For $20, got a great haircut, wash, and style - seriously a good deal. Especially in a city. And the staff were all super friendly. I've been coming to Miracles for almost 5 years now. Never had a bad experience. Firstly, my cuts and color are always exactly what I ask for, I get great feedback from the stylists and there have been times when they've talked me out of some BAD ideas (I have many ;) ). The older woman with brown hair at the front didn't smile or ask me how I was doing. Guess I'm not hip enough. That said, my stylist was friendly and consulted me about my haircut. Cuts run $20 for men, which is more than reasonable for Arlington. I asked for about a 1.5 inch trim and it seemed like I lost a lot more hair. That said, I was satisfied with the cut. On my way out, I had to wait a while to cash out. The guy who cashed me out was pretty apathetic too...C'mon guys! You're working at a hip salon, in a hip neighborhood. Show some excitement! They changed the decor up a bit as well as services--no more waxing or threading. Only hair services and eyelash extensions. Women's haircuts are still only $30. Helpfully, now the stylish stations have hooks beside them for customer's bags. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of metered parking right outside and around the block. About a ten-fifteen minute wait to get my hair washed, and whoever said those basins are torture on the neck are right. They have plenty of magazines to kill time with, and not just hair magazines. I feel like my cut turned out well, and Eli even managed to make my face look a bit less round than usual. I used a Bloomspot certificate ($25 for $50), and since I had money left over, the receptionist asked if I'd like to pick up a product. After months of searching for the right barber after moving to Arlington, I decided to consult Yelp and simply pick the highest rated shop in the area. I was also sick of getting the same haircut for the past 20 years so why not go to a professional this time. So comes Miracles and I couldn't have been happier with my monthly cuts. The staff is very friendly and growing. I feel like every visit, there's either a new member of their staff or a new furniture has been added or there's more customers waiting. I'm glad that this place has been getting more business. Men's Haircuts are $20. I recommend going to George if you're a dude. He knows his craft very well and does a good job of communicating with you on his haircutting techniques. He doesn't hide his work by facing you away from the mirror so you'll be able to see what's going on and not be surprised by the end result and he makes sure that you understand what he's doing or going to do to your hair. Horrible. Went there about 4 months ago for color and cut. The color was good, but the cut I got was HORRIBLE. It had a 'tail' on it. Not sure what the stylist was thinking. Called the next day to try to have it corrected. The guy who did it was not there - a different stylist seemed friendly on the phone - said I should come on over. All the reviews are right. At Miracles, I received a very nice hair cut and coloring experience. Eli (E-lee) is nice, talkative, works fast and with purpose. I came here instead of my usual place because my ass is broke. Well, I have money but not the kind of money where $200 hair dids can be commonplace. Not until I find myself that sugar daddy to supplement my needs. I walked in about 30min late because I got stuck in that torrential downpour Saturday without an umbrella. But they were nice enough to offer to dry my clothes while I waited. The fun began as I plopped into his chair and began the process of trying to beautify my mane. There wasn't a lot of time for instruction and I felt kind of awkward directing him about my hair. Either he didn't understand what I was saying, or didn't care. Yes my roots now match my ends, but there is no oomph to it. Rather than brightening the faded color (last time my hair was done was March) he simply matched the two. So my hair is a little more brassy/ashy than I would prefer. Cut was good. We kept the length like I requested and threw in a bunch of layers. I don't know if he is used to working with my kind of hair (greasy roots, super dry ends, deceivingly thick, weighs down easily) because when I asked to take weight off the bottom he looked a bit confused. The end results have worked out. My hair looks prettier. So the experience was very nice. I got a good hair cut and color. The reason why this place is awesome and why Miracles is receiving (a little under) 4 stars and could warrant future visits (with a lot more direction on my part) is the price. I paid 50% less for all of this than I would anywhere else. Maybe I will get my cuts here and my highlights at my usual place. It's not my absolute favorite hair place ever, but it's the best I've found in Northern Virginia for the price. $30 for a good haircut? You can't beat it! I had Voula, and she was very nice and attentive. She asked a lot of questions about how I wanted my hair, and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I bought a Bloomspot gift certificate ($25 for $50) so I even got a product with my haircut! The only major downside of this place is their terrible hair washing stations -- they are KILLER on your neck (and back and shoulders), and they should really look into replacing them because that sort of thing makes people not want to come back. Also, I thought it was a little weird that some dude (customer) was in there chugging on a Yuengling . . . I went to Miracles after reading great reviews on Yelp. I called on a Wednesday for a Saturday appointment, and they easily fit me in. While the salon is somewhat hidden and the decor is definitely nothing elaborate, I really loved this place! All of the stylists were incredibly friendly and made me feel welcome. Ray was right on time for our appointment and was excellent! Unlike many stylists I've worked with, Ray didn't seem rushed at all. We talked for at least 5 minutes about my hair and what I was looking for in my cut. He was incredibly cautious and paid extreme attention to what he was doing, and I was really happy with my cut. And on top of that, it was only $30! That is near impossible to find in Arlington, especially with such high quality service. I moved into the area a little over a year ago, and I've been going home to get my hair done but I decided it's time to find somewhere local. Also, my eyebrows were in serious need of some shaping and trimming, so I made an appt to get them threaded. Ritu did my eyebrows, and she was wonderful! Very friendly and did a great job. I thought the prices were really good ($30 for a haircut and $15 for eyebrow threading -- I am used to paying much more) and it's close to my work, so I can easily stop in during a lunch break. Wow. I went here after searching on Yelp for a salon that was not overpriced and convenient to me here in Arlington. LOVE IT. I love that I am not charged $65+ for a trim and some layers, shampoo, and blowdry. The last place I tried was ok, but they charged me way too much and it wasn't worth it at all. This place is so incredibly friendly. I went in the morning (seems like a good time to go--not very crowded). I was running late so I called and they were very nice about it. I guess the stylist who was cutting my hair was a wee bit late too, so it worked out. I had my hair cut by Ray and he was just a fantastic stylist. I loved how chatty he was because I can't keep my mouth shut and I hate the awkward chair silence at salons when you get a totally icy stylist who was never planning on chatting with you. Nicholas, who shampooed my hair, was chatty too, so that was a great. All I wanted was a trim, keep my length, and some layers. I am growing out bangs and didnt want the cut to look weird. Ray did a great job of asking me what I wanted, how my hair naturally parted vs. how I manipulated the part so he could cut it in a way that was flattering, and just really making my hair look fabulous. It was great to have someone listen to what you want. He didnt rush and took his time. For $30 + tip, you cannot beat the service, staff, and quality. Just had my hair RUINED at Miracles Salon. I asked for a dye job and subtle highlights. I now look like a skunk with big chunky streaks of poorly done highlights. The highlights that frame my face are HIGH YELLOW. You can STILL see my roots, and when I asked for an inch or less taken off my ends MORE than that was cut off. Furthermore, I'm not sure if it was the owner's kid and a friend, or if the kids were with a client, but they both barged into the room where I was having my hair dyed and started making themselves at home, eating Domino's pizza with wings and a 2-liter. Hello, it's a salon, not a cafeteria, and the room is full of chemicals and bleach. If they HAD to eat, why not in the waiting/sitting area and not a room that's supposed to be for paying clients? I've never spent so much money to feel as though I'm in a cheap environment, and to feel as though I've received poor/amateur quality service. The floors were poorly swept and there was hair everywhere when I went to put my bag down. Male hair stylists work there, and when I went to go use the bathroom one of them had left the seat up. At home, that's fine. In a business setting where 95% of your clientele is female, PUT THE SEAT DOWN. I have never had such a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Now I have to take another chance on finding a new stylist and use another precious Saturday morning to try and fix this mess. STAY AWAY FROM MIRACLES SALON! RUN! read more

I have seen all the stars on the yelp review so I tried out the hair and make up. Up do looks o.k., but the make up? I look like a Mimi from Drew Carey Show. I appreciate Maria coming in one hour early, but the makeup and hair for $200 and no false eyelashes or anything and had to ask her to darken my eyebrows are just not acceptable. Whenever I had my makeup done, they did complete work to include false eyelashes. As far as around the eyes, I put some of my foundation to tone it down a bit. I only tipped $20 because of the makeup. I appreciate the effort of coming in early to accommodate my needs, but at the end result was not all that great. If I did not have my dog waiting at the hotel room all alone, I would told her to do it over. I think I am going to get me some fake eye lashes and more eyeliner to fix my eyes. I am glad that wedding is in the afternoon so I have time to react. So it is at noon and my hair is falling down. The event I am attending starts at 4 p.m.. She did not put gel or anything but the hair spray. My hair is very heavy because of the length. It looks terrible (going all the direction and the bottom is falling) and I am about to cry. Totally the buyer's remorse. A parking can be challenging because I parked at the dentist's patient parking across the street. I will not go back there for sure. read more

I've decided to finally write a review after having gone to Miracles a second time. I wanted to see if there was any consistency in their service and indeed, the consistency warrants my opinion. This review is only based on haircuts with Ray. -nice guy but a little chatty -no one offered *me* any booze! -i keep forgetting to bring a picture but Ray has been able to give me nice "safe" haircuts -great styling advice (We've tried curly styles and blow-outs.) -$30 haircut can't be beat! and can't really complain much... I'm giving this place a 4 stars despite a few complaints because you really can't go wrong with a nice, basic haircut for $30. I haven't run away screaming and I think it's worth returning. I blame myself for repeatedly forgetting to bring a picture. I think Ray lacks a little bit in innovation and panache. To be fair, I am a New Yorker, and my expectations are high. I walked out of my second hair cut with nice looking, but not great, hair. But really, what can one expect? DC is a boring beauracratic city and my haircut fit that to a T. I generally have pretty nice hair and if it's f-ed up, I know I can wear it wavy to hide it until it grows out. Next time, I think I am going to try a different salon just so I can have more excitement. If that doesn't work out for me, I'll wind up at Miracles again. read more

My husband had his wedding hair cut engineered by George and says many great things about him, so I decided to tag along and meet him myself. George is awesome! I was unfortunately a little late, but he took his time and was very meticulous about the way my hair was cut. I was looking for something simple - long layers in the back, framing in the front - but he suggested more so that my long hair was more manageable and lighter. George not only gave me a fantastic cut, he also shared some entertaining stories about his beautiful family. I'll definitely be back for another haircut. I love the tight knit family atmosphere! I loved getting my hair cut and colored here! I got an appointment with Eli, and he was absolutely fantastic. He does a thorough color consultation and really listens to you. He'll give you suggestions about what to do and what to hold off on - I was toying with the idea of also doing highlights, and he recommended doing the single process for now and seeing how I felt about highlights in a few weeks to minimize hair damage. (It's always a nice surprise when quality and hair health come before making extra money!) My hair color and cut turned out really beautifully, and because they use Redken products, my hair is unbelievably soft, shiny, and pretty even after getting processed. The extra perks: Eli is hilarious. I was cracking up the whole time he was cutting my hair, I can hardly believe he got a haircut in while I was laughing. He tells hysterical stories about really weird situations he's been in (he's one of those people that have crazy things happening around him all the time). Also, Olympia runs the salon and would make Tabatha seriously proud. She is on top of everything and keeps things going smoothly, all while offering you a glass of wine with a friendly smile. All in all, the price is great, they have frequent online deals for reduced price packages, and you are well taken care of while you are there. Recently, a friend of mine told me about this hair place in Rosslyn, and she's got good hair, so I took her word for it and took a shot. Bottom line, its a great experience. The family run atmosphere is not lost on me, and it shows in that they love the work they do, and they love working there. This salon is awesome! To start, I was a little late to my appointment because I got lost and couldn't find street parking. I'm not going to hold it against them that they don't have parking spaces for their salon. They can't help that. It is what it is. But even though I was a little late, they were waiting for me and I just sat right down; no wait! Nice! They offered me some wine right away, but I don't drink alcohol. It was very nice of them to offer though. I had my hair done by Voula and she was fantastic! She really listened to me as I expressed my concern with past bad haircuts and what I had learned about my hair type. My hair has also changed since my son was born so I had new concerns. She took all my concerns and told me step by step what she said would look good and I trusted her! This was my 1st time at Miracles, and like visiting any new place and trusting your hair to a stranger, I was nervous, but Voula made those fears disappear! The products they use (shampoo, conditioner, and others) were excellent quality! My hair hadn't looked that good in years! It was shiny and silky! I couldn't stop touching it! Voula was great and initiated small talk and it was nice and pleasant. Not too much, but not too silent either. The perfect amount. She continued to make sure I was comfortable with her snips and in the end, I couldn't believe I had this fabulous haircut, all for $30.00? CRAZY right? I was in and out in less than an hour, which is also nice because they understand that we have a life and get busy. This review is specifically for eyebrow threading. Ritu is fast! I went in yesterday with...well lets just say a full eyebrow that needed help from the heavens above. Ritu did me right in less than 5 minutes. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for more than 12 years and Ritu was the fastest I have ever experienced (still talking about thread ppl). Not only was she quick, I actually did not feel any pain. I know, you're thinking no pain while yanking hair from its root...yeap. No pain. The location is great as well. It's only 2 blocks from the Rosslyn Metro Stop (Blue & Orange lines). Go to her and you will always keep running back 4-5 weeks later for that touch up. read more

I take my two sons here and Nikos is our stylist. He is fantastic with my kids and always makes their hair look stylish. The price is very reasonable and quality is high. 100 times better than taking my boys to a random barber shop where service is terrible and quality is bad, what we used to do until they left in tears. Nikos has also cut my husband's hair. He listens and cares for a good outcome, and treats my kids like grown ups. They said he is by far their favorite stylist ever. The staff here is also super friendly and treats us impeccably. They even gave my older son a shampoo the last visit. I love, love, love this salon and will not take my boys anywhere else. I went to Miracles after getting a referral from a devout client. Because my hair is long and sort of complicated, I typically don't expect much of a haircut (usually they are 5-10 min "trims" at other salons - almost as if they use a ruler and chop vertically). My only expectation is not to cry afterwards. However, this was by far the best haircut I've gotten as an adult. My stylist was George. He is thorough and really has that "vision." George seemed to immediately understand how my hair would behave AND look once cut. George took the time to make sure I ended up with a brand new, healthy look - polished and snazzy, yet not too radical and still "me." This place is amazing!!! I was looking for a general place to get my dead ends trimmed and eyebrows waxed. They offered to take my coat and purse which I obliged. They took me to the back to shampoo my hair and they offered me both water and wine for a refreshment. I'm like, WHAT? I've never been offered WINE at a hair salon! Was a very surprising moment and of course, my alcoholic self said yes!! Now, it's only a few sips, not a full glass, but I had just gotten off work so it was very much welcomed. Lona is wonderful, is from Italy, and super friendly! Also, the lady who does the eyebrow waxing is great too! She gave me tips on my eyebrows, and that it makes me look older when I pluck them too far apart ( which I didn't know)! The first time I came here I had a good experience (highlights) but the second time (dye) it literally ruined my holiday. I smiled, paid and cried the rest of the afternoon. After asking for only a trim, Elie got scissor happy and cut quite a bit off. Also, the color I got was much, much darker than I had asked for. I should have known when he said, "We are actually out of that color, but I'll mix some." Though the people working here are friendly, I was new in town and shy, and felt a little overwhelmed. "Miracles" is right! A great haircut, nice people, a friendly atmosphere, and convenient location (all for $30 plus tip) -- what more could you ask for? Oh, you want a complimentary glass of wine or beer while you wait? Yup, they have that too. I have had ho-hum experiences all over DC since moving to the area, and was getting pretty tired of paying $60 MINIMUM for a shampoo and cut (especially when I've had to re-do "mom cuts" and Dutch-boy bangs once I got home). I am soooo happy I found Miracles! Maria has been my stylist twice now, and I will keep coming back. She is funny, cordial, friendly, and does a wonderful job cutting my hair. It is a family-run business in the best kind of way. I end up having a great conversation with Maria and the other people that work there, and for me this is a huge plus, since it's such a contrast to the usual awkward, forced conversation you get at a hair salon. While I can't speak personally, I would highly recommend this place for women who like their hair short. I have seen more than a couple girls walk out with really cute, sexy short hairstyles, which I know is hard to pull off. I am pretty sure Elie did these cuts (he also cuts guys' hair). Once again, it is amazing to find a place to get a haircut at this price and not look like you just stepped out of a strip-mall SuperCuts.
