Miracle Potion has been on my list for a while, and it lived up to its cute pink aesthetic and charming afternoon tea experience. I recently visited with a good friend, and we both enjoyed the visit. The decor is beautiful - pink, cozy, and very Instagram-worthy. The space is small and quaint, which adds to its charm, and it wasn't busy at all during our visit. The afternoon tea service was great, featuring delicious desserts, biscuits, and croissant sandwiches. I do wish there were more tea options available. The pricing felt appropriate for the experience, and we had a good time catching up in such a lovely setting. Service was a bit slow, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The staff was friendly, and since we weren't in a rush, it didn't affect the overall experience too much. Another plus is that there is plenty of street parking if you come in the morning. My friend and I went to Miracle Potion to celebrate our August birthdays, as we celebrate together most years. We both love the color pink, and were looking for a new place to try together. We also both love tea, and the ambiance of a tea party. We decided to try the Afternoon Tea service at Miracle Potion. Parking can be a bit challenging in that part of town, but I was able to find an inexpensive meter for 2 hours, and my friend found a lot not too far away. We checked in at the door and noticed tright hat pink was absolutely everywhere. We were then led to the second floor which was reserved for afternoon tea. The room was tastefully decorated, but very small. Every glass and teacup in sight was pink. Pink flowers adorned the walls and railings, and pink chairs were lined along each table. We saw customers also sharing flights of what appeared to be fantastical coffee drinks. We were promptly greeted by our server who described the service. We were given a menu of teas and informed we could each choose two different teas during the service. At our request, we were given pots of hot water so we could both taste each of the 4 teas we chose. We were offered our choices of milks or creams for the tea. Service was excellent throughout. Staff obliged us by taking many pictures of us in front of the pink decor, as we had dressed to match. I loved how the pink sparkling lemonade was poured into a pink champagne glass and how the water was in a pink wine glass. We were given a tiered tray of pastries and desserts. My favorites were the biscuits and the macarons. Though the website says that the tea is one hour of service, we were there two hours and not rushed in any way. I did see that plenty of seating opened so I didn't feel like we were taking extra space. I debated 4 or 5 stars, as this is more of a whimsical coffee shop rather than a tea shop, nor are they a pastry/sandwich shop, but I chose the 5-star rating due to the wonderful overall experience that day. read more

This is such a fun cafe. I loved the pink vibe. I had seen a reel on instagram about this newer cafe and their cute pink tea offerings. We were in SD for a conference at the convention center so I decided a 30 minute walk was reasonable for pink decor and a place to chill while hubby was busy. They were preoccupied setting up for I believe two different reservations for their tea service so it did take the ladies a while to come to the counter for me to order. I did a hot chai and one of the cute mini cakes. I ordered for staying and she told me to go upstairs and she would bring my drink shortly as she handed me the cake. Upstairs is the star of the show with cute PINK fake flowers decorating the wall, a cute sign... After almost half an hour I went downstairs and asked about my chai and the woman said she thought the other lady was going to make it. She said she would and would bring it up. I went back up to wait and the owner helped me get on the wifi and when she learned what had happened, also brought a sparkling pink lemonade which was sweet of her and refreshing. I love going for High Tea, so when I saw photos of Miracle Potion Tea, my friends and I had to try it. It is a small establishment in downtown San Diego near Santa Fe Depot train station. You can order "to go" drinks and pastries downstairs. The tea room upstairs is beautifully decorated with pink flowers and decor. The tea service began with sparkling pink lemonade in plastic champagne flutes decorated with butterflies. We were able to choose 2 flavored hot teas and 2 finger sandwiches per person (we all chose the smoked salmon and prosciutto croissants, which were wonderful). Each tea bag has a butterfly decor as well. However, we were disappointed that most of the tea we tried weren't very flavorful. The food tasted delicious, but we were surprised that we didn't each have the same desserts and cutting each dessert up into tiny pieces (so we could try it) wasn't ideal. Miracle Potion is a new pastry and coffee shop in the Core-Columbia neighborhood which is south of Little Italy in downtown San Diego. The corner suite had several outdoor tables on the front patio with more seating inside that included an upstairs area. The menu screen was posted on a pillar to the right when you walked in. Several items were on display at the service counter and in a glass case next to the counter. A grand opening event will be taking place this coming Saturday. Coffee, tea, cupcakes, pastries, and a vegan cookie made up the selections. I picked a Blueberry Danish and a Honey Crumbs cupcake for my order to go. The danish was average in size with blueberries and cream cheese as the filling. The combination wasn't too sweet which was positive. The cupcake was nicely decorated with gold sprinkles and a candied heart as toppings. What conflicted me about these products were the prices. Six dollars for a danish was expensive, however eight dollars for a small cupcake was exorbitant. It's not just a perception of value for the quality. The reality is that I haven't come across a place that charges this much for an individual cupcake. We're talking about the most well-known bakeries and dessert shops around town, some of which are located in very high-rent areas. The cost factor was what limited the rating of my experience at Miracle Potion. read more

I held an event here with my students to celebrate their success as a team and to learn about yea and small businesses. It was perfect! The food was so delicious. We found out that everything is made in-house with farm sourced ingredients. The afternoon tea was so much fun. The owner even shared her process on how tea blends are made. The kids had a great time. The ambiance was perfectly pink. My high school kids dressed pink for the occasion and took lots of pictures. It was so much fun. I enjoyed a good cortado from this new coffee shop. It had a touch of sourness towards the end, but other than that it was smooth and rich. In addition to the espresso line up, Miracle Potion also offers craft cupcakes and sliced cake. Both the cupcakes and cakes are baked by the owner Maria. The were out of croissant which wanted to order. I hope they carry more baked goods that are not cupcakes in the near future. I was told by the young lady at the counter that, that was the plan. She not only has created a safe and fun space for coffee-goers to experience but her and her team are all super friendly and accommodating. I had an event there for a photography meet, and despite all the hecticness, Maria and the team were able to help all of our models and photographers rather quickly. Located in the corner of the street, at the end of the block - this coffee shop is in a perfect location! And the parking is not bad for the location being downtown, there is meter parking and also a parking structure across the street if you wanted to park downtown for the whole day. The Miracle Potion Afternoon Tea experience was so cute! I went with a party of 3 and we were so impressed by the details and quality of the food. The tea service came with 2 complimentary teas, 2 sandwiches, a variety of mini desserts, a glass of sparkling lemonade, and home made biscuits portioned per person. The upstairs cafe, set up, and food was definitely instagram worthy. The desserts were not too sweet and they had a good selection of tea. My only negative comment is that I wish the teas were loose-leaf and served by the kettle versus in tea bags with hot water. The cinnamon rolls are absolutely amazing. They're made fresh daily as with the cream frosting and warm.

They don't make any of their teas, and while it is very pink inside decoratively, it's all rather tacky and dull. So much for a tea party.

Sadly, for those of us who are disabled, (2 of the 3 of us were), not informed that tea room was upstairs and No elevators. Did their best to try to accommodate us, but was physically very uncomfortable, squeezing us into the limited space with a small table and hard plastic chairs, in downstairs area.
