I am helping an elderly client who literally had to do a bankruptcy after she had water damage and had this company come "repair" the damage. They never finished the job and on top of that had the audacity to charge this senior citizen %18 on work that was never completed. Can't believe this place is still in business. This company sucks. We had a plumbing issue where a bathtub overflow drain was not watertight and water poured from our second floor bathroom through the walls down into the basement. This was around September 17, 2020. Mint was really quick to come out and cut open our ceiling and test our walls for moisture. They were great about turning on fans. And then they just became impossible to get a hold of. I talked to Chris, Jared, Kaiden, and Deric. They did great at ripping things apart and assessing the damage. Putting things back together was another story. I never got a quote for patching my drywall and fixing the damage. They did, however, send me a bill for $2864 on November 9 for cutting a hole in my ceiling and running their fans. If I relied on Mint, the hole would still be there. We finally got someone else to fix it. The reason I am posting a review almost a year later is because we had a completely unrelated water leak in a different part of the house and there was no way I would use Mint this time around. read more

This is a long review detailing the facts of my experience with Mint Restoration. I share it to allow others to hear of my experience before making a decision in contracting for restoration and tried to list all the facts. In September 2019, I used Mint Restoration after my water heater broke, leaking water over the floor damaging carpet and sheetrock. I was told by the technician that everything was handled by the restoration company, including dealing with my insurance company. The technicians removed the affected floor carpet and cut out three sections of sheetrock that gathered moisture from the wet carpet touching it. The 21 feet of wet carpet going up the other two walls about six inches was not removed. I did not hear from Mint Restoration after they left the property. I tried to contact the company several times monthly between September and December 2019 to get an update. I finally reached an employee in December who explained to me that the employee I had been working with was no longer with the company. He also informed me that I had to start the claim with my insurance and assisted with this. My claim was paid by insurance minus my deductible 12/11/19. I tried to contact Mint Restoration to pay them and start the repair portion of the process and did not get any replies. I contracted someone else to repair the damage on 1/4/20. When the carpet going up the wall was removed, there was black mold underneath. I contracted someone else to cut out the affected sheetrock, replace the sheetrock, mud, sand, and repaint the walls. On 1/21/20 I received a phone call from Mint Restoration asking for payment. I explained that I had been trying to contact them for some time and detailed everything I've explained in this review. I asked for a discount due my inconvenience and the additional cost incurred for failing to remove the wet carpet up the walls. I was given $100 (3.9%) off the total bill of $2539.81 and told my pictures of the black mold going up the walls would be used for future training. On 1/23/20, I received a call from the company stating they'd heard of my dissatisfaction. I explained everything, told them that $100 would not cover the cost of my repair, and in addition, I'd been billed for this work as well. They assured me they would speak to the owner and get back with me. On 2/21/20 I received another invoice requesting payment or I would be taken to collections. I replied stating that I was working with another employee and the owner. I was told that the owner, Jesse Barrios, gave me the 3.9% off and that was final.  I messaged and was told they were trying to work with me in lieu of a negative review. I said that I wanted to have the uncompleted work removed from the invoice and compensation at Mint Restoration's rate to repair the damage from leaving the wet carpet on the walls. I was told that insurance was only billed for what they did, which did not include removing the wet carpeting going up the walls. I sent a definition of a restoration company: The job of a restoration company is to clean up the mess and to preserve and protect the home and its contents so that further damage will not occur. I was sent this text after I sent the definition: There seems to be some confusion in all of this. There could be a million definitions for every profession out there. We billed for what we did, regardless if we missed something or not, we did not charge to do something we didn't do. That's basic knowledge. If there were forgotten things, insurance will still pay out to take care of and mediate whatever needs be. We need to get paid. At this point I asked if the offer of an additional $100 (3.8%) was the final offer. The answer was yes and this would not be offered if I left negative reviews. I declined the additional $100 and reserved my right to leave this review. Avoid this company! I hired Jesse and his company back in March of 2020 to help with basement water damage & remodeling. An employee lied to me and said I owed $XXXX more to Mint Restoration. I wasn't sure how I still owed that much, but I paid. I later audited everything and found I double paid for the flooring and they owed me back ~$3000. I left over a dozen voicemails to the office and the secretaries. I sent +10 emails. No reply from the owner Jesse. I have won a lawsuit in smalls claims court with them, and they refuse to pay back my money. My buddy owns a hard wood floor company and said he has done work for Jesse & Mint Restoration in the past and they have had troubles being paid by him. Company sent two guys out to assess damage from a leak. Turned out to be minimal and tgey started the job for 50% down. They never returned but made repeated attempts to collect the other 50% even though they never returned. I paid $750 for two guys to spend 30 minutes at my house. I still have a hole in my ceiling and now they are threatening to send me to collections. These guys are scammers. DO NOT USE!!! read more

This company is an absolute joke and possibly a scam. Like another reviewer, they were quick to come out initially, but won't return calls or answer emails. Sent me an outrageous invoice for what they did do and won't provide an itemized invoice or respond to messages requesting one. We did have some initial issues like some of the other reviewers. However, once work started, our contractor, Keith Melia, was outstanding. Outstanding in his work, his expertise and advice. Keith is a Master Craftsman. Always on time and always kept us abreast of all that he was accomplishing. Because of a leak at our dishwasher, he had to repair many areas. He did flooring, ceiling, molding, painting and some plumbing. All outstanding repairs. Keith used Covid protocols, which I appreciated, because I am a 100% disabled retired veteran. These guys were recommended by the plumbing company I used to replace the sewer lines in my old house. They came out, did the job. After they were finished, they left one of their machines sitting in the kitchen for over two months. Finally called and came and picked it up. Even my homeowners insurance adjuster didn't like the vibe that was given when she spoke to them. That should tell you something. All this took place way back in May/June of 2020. It is now February 2021, and they have finally sent me an invoice for their work. They do a good job, but afterwards, they seem to totally ignore you for several months. Hence the one star. And my deductible is not going to be paid to them in lieu of storage rental fees for leaving their equipment sitting in the house for that long. read more

I'm an insurance adjuster handling a water damage claim for our client. My insured was recommended this place by their plumber and now after reading reviews, I wish they would have went a different route. Their initial response to my customer and clean up was good. Unfortunately, no response for 3 weeks even after several attempts via phone and email by myself and my client. I don't think they have a process for following up after the initial cleanup. My customer ended up going with a different company for the repairs. At this time, still nothing from them and I'm still awaiting the documents for their work. Initial service is good, but completely horrible thereafter. Until this is fixed, I would recommend another mitigation company. read more

He was professional and had all the equipment to complete the job. He checked in with me to show me step by step what he was going to do. He did a stellar job and answered all questions I had. Yes, they are quick to come out initially but after that they won't answer phone calls or txt messages and the email address I was given was invalid. I'm still scratching my head on what to do next. Initially the work was good. Very friendly. They spent 1-2 hours cut two walls and about 10 feet of carpet padding. They left 4 fans and a dehumidifier for three days. Then I never heard from them again. They never came back, they never responded to any calls, messages or emails. Nothing. For that 1-2 hrs of work and 3 days of fans, I got a bill for 2k!!! Wow. Definitely overpriced. I finally found another company for the restoration part of the project. I would not recommend this company at all. read more

quick response, initial appearance of reliability and professionalism, and then it went down from there. They abandoned the job, did not contact us the next day although they were working on the apt next door through the wall, and another across and down the hall. They left their material everywhere in the hallway - equipment, cables, taped down plastic run ways - and left a piece of equipment in our apt that was not functioning. They did not come back for it. I put it out in the hallway the next day or the following morning with all the material. The day after everything was gone. Great initial response and service. But, it was a struggle to get a copy of the documents they had me sign to begin work. And the estimator was poor in responding and did not follow-up to finish the job. As such I need to find another company to complete the work. I would not recommend Mint Restoration Utah. read more

Possible scammers. They told me an entire wall needed to be replaced with new drywall and insulation. I wanted a second opinion and had another company come out. The second company debunked Mint's assessment. Mint used an infrared/thermal camera and showed it to me saying "See, look how wet your drywall is", but I was thinking "duh, of course it's wet, the water line just broke and that it why I'm calling". Then they played the "mold" game where they emphasize that "this drywall needs to come down right now!, no time to waste, shall we start this afternoon". read more

Promised me several things and didn't deliver on a single thing they promised. I ended up finishing the job they started myself because I didn't want to give them another penny. They charge ridiculously high prices with the justification that the insurance companies will pay for it. By far the worst company I have worked with in my entire life.
