    2 pin moisture reader

We hired Epic Restoration following a major flood loss and were very disappointed with the experience. During mitigation, additional damage occurred that was not part of the original loss. When Epic removed carpet and pad they used something that put gouges and chips in our beautiful wood look tile that butted up against the carpet line when removing the carpet strips. Every area there was tile against carpet strips, they left gouges in the tiles. During this time they sent a referred contractor (ARQ Construction) because Epic does not do rebuild even though their website says they do. We showed the contractor a box of extra tile we saved in storage but wasn't enough for all the damage. So after almost a month later Epic returned with a hand held moisture reader and to tear out all of the tile. He used a 2 pin moisture reader and the reason, moisture under tile. Epic charged us $11,225.66 (approx 800 sq) of water mitigation. Another company they refer us to is Rapid Packout which boxes up your belongings and hand carried to our garage and a storage pod in the driveway . These people were careless with our leather sectional and put a rip in the side of the recliner when moving it. They piled open boxes of glass items and broke some items while moving. I would not recommend that company either. We are in the middle of a Liabilty claim with them. Then after Epic ripped out the tile Epic had the contractor change his bid to add on Epics damages they created taking out the carpet. The amount was clearly not enough to replace all of the damages. Then the bathroom, they took out pieces of tile here and there in the bathroom also on a side the water hadn't even reached. The pain we went through trying to match that tile to have pieces woven in were unsuccessful. We had to pay a contractor to do a full rip out and replace, with that bathroom tile also. Pictures they took of using the moisture meter, none show the handheld pins placed in grout lines but only of a hand holding the meter on top of the tile. Shouldn't the 2 pins be inserted in the grout for readings? The pictures also show the moisture meter as compromised with tape around it. No calibration was done or readings shown or recorded and pictures do not corroborate with the readings. Despite documentation, photos, and written assurances that contractor-caused damage would be addressed, Epic later disputed responsibility and declined to resolve those damages. A broader scope of evaluation before removing any tile should have been done. The tile was on a concrete slab which after researching I discovered that tile will usually always show a moisture when over a concrete slab. Communications were inconsistent, explanations changed over time, and issues that should have been handled internally were pushed back onto us and our insurance carrier. We spent months dealing with matters that should have been straightforward during an already stressful situation. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Epic Restoration to homeowners navigating an insurance claim.

Turns out: they're about a truly great company, with cheerful, supportive technicians--and MAN their communication is *killer.* They were prompt by both phone and text, kept me up-to-date on when I could expect them to arrive, talked me through every single step of the process, and didn't talk to me any differently than they talked to my husband (which, unfortunately, is all too common with technicians, I've found). Our story: we had a puddle of water in our basement after a recent thunderstorm. Glenn and Ryan showed up within an hour, calmed our nerves, helped us inspect our home, cleaned up the mess, and left us with some fans to dry out the room. Their prices were reasonable, and they came back today to pack out the fans, exactly as they'd promised. In short: at every step of the process, they knocked it out of the park. All these glowing reviews you're reading? It's not a scam or some kind of marketing ploy. It's a reflection of a really exceptional company who is actually *enjoyable* to work with.

He was incredibly kind, understanding, and helpful. He offered a free mold test and whatever is needed to ensure my home is safe. He also asked me what value I thought they provided and offered to reimburse the difference in what I was charged. I've never received such empathetic and genuine care from a business owner. After this conversation I really believe this business has its customers best interest in mind and cares about the results they produce. Thank you for your care! **Original Review**The service was $1050 and the person who did it was in our house for less than an hour. He sprayed bleach on the wood and cut a couple inches of sheetrock out. He left it messy even though they charged $260 just for vacuuming. I feel like I could have sprayed my own bleach and saved $1047 dollars. We were still sick after he left and there was still evidence of mold in different places. I would have given one star but he did come back and spray it again after we reached out personally. He was here about fifteen or twenty minutes the second time. Overall really expensive and not really worth it. If I knew they just spray bleach I would have done it myself.

We removed our plants, dog and opened all the cupboard and room doors and our air ventilation system for the fog to penetrate as mold attaches itself to everything especially dust particles. We ran errands and picnicked in the park for four hours and returned. Upon entering, the smell of ozone was heavy but bearable. I called Dave to ask if we could open windows and he said that would be fine. Upon inspection Justin had scrubbed the mold off the shower stall and painted antimicrobial mold paint on the ceiling. He also cleaned the air conditioning filter in our condo air system and put it back in place. We cleaned our air ventilating fans in the two bathrooms and will now make sure to run them before and after our showers along with keeping the bathroom doors open after using them to keep moisture down. The fogging comes with a one year guarantee. This company was prompt, courteous snd answered all my questions. Highly recommend.,

One of the best experiences with a business I can remember. They were able to provide a free estimate. They were offered to come within an hour or 2 from the call (which means, if they can come soon, they will not let you wait for a long time for for nothing) I did not need further services in my place, and he was honest about it (he could have tried to push services, because the water machine identified humidity). He provided us with his professional opinion and backed up his advice with solid and easy to understand arguments. I had further questions about technical aspects of mold/water damage and he patiently answered them with same eloquence as paragraph above. I found his visit very objective, not waisting our time. He was also polite and considerate at all times (important right now due to coronavirus circumstances). Their service was so satisfying that I felt that I own them a review.

They put a fan in for 3 days came back and said they would call the next day. Took 3 weeks to hear back from them after calling and emailing. They had no problem getting ahold of our insurance and estimating a giant amount of money to fix the bathroom. Which was approved. I asked them for a time frame of fixing and they said they couldn't give me one until they were paid. They told me materials, especially tile could take awhile to get here, but I couldn't order until they got paid. Our insurance guy sent the check directly to us. And as soon as that was known by them they called daily to find out if it came and if we could sign the check and give them the full amount. They wouldn't even put me on the schedule still or give me a time frame. They wanted the whole check up front. Shady! I finally got the check and I put it in my account. I got another professional bid by a man that I know personally and know his work and it is high end. He bid 1/3 of the cost to do my bathroom. AND he told me a date he will be here. I have had calls every day in a row to collect payment, it's been 5 days and 2 have been the weekend and the check had to clear my account. Today they called and threatened to send me to collections tomorrow. It's been DAYS, not weeks or months. For 4 hours of tearing out a bit of tile and drywall and placing fans and leaving them it was over $3k. Rip off! DO NOT USE!
