I don't normally write reviews unless it's to recognize someone for an exceptionally positive experience, but I left this office honestly dumbfounded. The front desk staff, hygienist, and dentist were all wonderful. Unfortunately, my experience completely changed when it came time to discuss the treatment plan and pricing. The person handling this did not explain my treatment plan to me at all. I was presented with a treatment plan totaling over $16,500 and asked to sign it without anyone actually going over what I was agreeing to. When I tried to ask about it, he cut me off twice, saying, "I already explained it to you." He had not. I was stunned by how dismissive and condescending the interaction was. I came in with a tooth causing significant pain, fully prepared to have my dental work done here, and left knowing I would need to find another dentist. It's incredibly disappointing that one interaction at the very end ruined what had otherwise been such a positive experience. read more

Although I'm a fairly new patient at MDL, so far I've been really impressed with the care and service. Everyone has been polite, attentive, and professional from the moment I walk in. Even the office attendant offering me a toothbrush before my appointment was such a thoughtful little touch. Charlene, my dentist (hopefully I spelled her name correctly), was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and made every effort to be sure I was comfortable and didn't experience any pain during my procedure. Compared to my previous dentist, MDL feels very modern and technologically advanced, with state-of-the-art equipment. But what stands out most is the quality of care. The entire team has been wonderful, and I've felt very well taken care of. The rates are also very reasonable, which is always appreciated. Great experience overall. I had to chase up personally. Ended up speaking to the snarky manager, whose name is "Angel", ironically the name of the cheaper aligners they were promoting: Angel Aligners. "The most we can offer you is a refund ok hun", he snapped whilst barely glossing over my concerns. "Well, can you at least re-scan my teeth so I can get Invisalign?" "So I can show you that my teeth have indeed moved in the 2 weeks I was waiting for them?" "No. Your teeth haven't moved". Angel clearly just wanted to head home that day. Absolutely atrocious business, cloaked in semi-nice interior decor. Spend your precious pennies elsewhere. I gave this place a try for a year, but ended up leaving after both my husband and I had too many issues with the lack of transparency around their pricing/treatment plans. I never knew what I was going to pay before I went in, despite asking for clarity in person. Somehow, on dental PPO, we were still paying $200 per person OOP for standard cleanings with no covered options. They constantly tried upselling us on things too. We have started a treatment for my son. So far everyone is amazing. From the front desk, patient coordinator, dental assistant to a doctor are great. Offering warm face towels, blankets, and drinks. I have been trying to get my braces removed from an orthodontist that would accept me. I had an unpleasant experience with my last location and no other office would accept my request because I needed permission from the original orthodontist. Due to personal reasons I couldn't continue with them anymore, this office was the only one to accept me. The orthodontist was so kind and took her time explaining the quality of my teeth. I hesitated to write this, but my experience at Mint Dental was so troubling that I feel others should know. I went in for tooth pain. Instead of addressing that, the staff repeatedly asked if I "liked my smile," photographed me, and pushed Invisalign. I kept explaining I was there for pain, but the dentist insisted Invisalign was the only real solution. When I asked questions, she became defensive. I eventually agreed, thinking it couldn't hurt. I was wrong. I'm in my 60s, and the aligners caused burning and swollen gums from day one. I asked if I might be allergic (I have known allergies to plastics), but they dismissed it and kept changing their explanation for the swelling. Later, a dentist I'd never met filed several teeth without having informed me beforehand this would be needed. My insurance initially rejected the claim because he wasn't associated with the office. After they rebilled it under a different name, it went through. Since then, I've had cavities in the teeth he filed and gaps between them that catch food -- something I never had before. They pushed products and add‑ons constantly: throat exercises, electric toothbrushes, and later $500 "necessary" nighttime retainers. I regret buying them as insurance didn't cover them. I used them for a while, but my gum swelling never stopped until I quit wearing the retainers -- and now I have gum recession and exposed gaps between my enamel and my gums - also something I never had before. They also called me every 3-4 months for cleanings, which felt excessive. When I was diagnosed with cancer and had to cancel appointments, I told them not to call and explained why and that I would call them when my treatment allowed. They continued to call relentlessly until I blocked their number. Billing was another nightmare. They charged me the full amount upfront and submitted mismatched numbers to insurance for me to be reimbursed, which caused endless issues with my FSA out of pocket cost reimbursements. I eventually found a new dentist, who confirmed my bite is now off from the Invisalign. He filled the gaps caused by gum recession and advised that only more Invisalign would fix the bite -- something I have no intention of repeating. I'm giving two stars only because the original tooth pain did go away. But the hard sells, questionable billing, and long‑term damage make this a practice I deeply regret choosing. read more

They did not tell me until I got there that they don't accept certain dental plans so it was a huge monumental waste of my time for the most part. No one has that kind of money which would probably be about 10,000 out of my pocket to get some dental work done there they were very pushy as well as though they thought this was a great idea. I was suspicious of all the five star reviews and now I have to relay what actually goes on when you get there - also the place is dirty. It's not that clean. I had a real dentist for many years that told me my teeth were strong and at age 50 I've only had one cavity so obviously I will believe that real Dentist over this used car salesman of a dentist that was trying to scare me into thinking I would lose my teeth if I didn't do her stupid Invisalign BS. Dr. Han and her husband, Peter, completely came to the rescue--they took our call at 8:00 AM on a Saturday morning and agreed to squeeze us in. Our flight landed at 3:00 PM, and they stayed open just to take our appointment right before their office officially closed for the weekend. When we arrived, they not only fixed the immediate issue but also suggested a comprehensive repair to ensure they would last. They rushed the process and had everything done within 24 hours. It was an immense relief knowing my dad would be able to eat comfortably and that we didn't have to worry about his dentures for the rest of our trip. On top of that, they went above and beyond with their lab connections to ensure the final adjustments were absolutely perfect. This place is a gem! Found the Altadena location by looking through Yelp and all the positive reviews are warranted. The office staff are so incredibly sweet and friendly- they always greet me by name and offer amenities while you wait which could be anything from tea to CBD drops to noise canceling headphones- it feels like a spa. For my cleaning they gave me a blanket and there is a TV on the ceiling to distract you which is amazing. I am an anxious dental patient as I have very sensitive teeth and the hygienists were gentle and compassionate and also offered numbing which was a huge help. I've seen Dr. Han multiple times and she is fantastic- she has great bedside manner and took her time answering my many questions and brainstorming solutions for my dental needs. They also offer Ozone treatment here for tooth sensitivity which is a fairly new treatment but let me tell you it freaking works! And if you need one more reason to come here they even have an office therapy dog that will drop in and say hello if you are feeling anxious. They are out of network with all insurances I believe but they will bill your insurance still and I have received reimbursements so far for covered treatments with my PPO ins. read more
