I came here about a year and a half ago for a regular annual exam which is 100% covered by my insurance. After doing all the x-rays, the dentist recommended I do a deep cleaning, and additional work on my teeth to prevent further "decay" and "build up" and also recommended me to fix all my fillings. They quoted me 910$ out of pocket with insurance. As far as I know, everything recommended to me is optional and I don't have to be pressured into fixing anything I don't want to fix. I tell them I will think about it because it's a lot of money and left the office. A few days later I call them back to ask to simply do a regular preventative cleaning as that is my right, and is 100% covered by my insurance. They informed me they can not do just regular cleaning "under the doctor's orders." A month later, I went to a different dentist, and he informed me that nothing the dentists at Genesis prescribed is necessary and granted me my regular cleaning with no issues. I am just stating facts as to what happened to me, and you can tell me whether or not you think this is ethical. EDIT TO RESPOND I would not waste my time to make up a fake story. I wrote this candidly about my experience at your office to warn whoever decides to come here. It is not a "free cleaning" as you said especially when I pay for my dental insurance. A regular preventative cleaning is my right, which you have conveniently decided to not address in your response. I hope whoever is deciding to be your patient will know you are combative and unprofessional with negative constructive feedback. It is evident in all your responses for your one star reviews. Seems like you only like being told exactly what you want to hear. We went in with both our daughter and son, and while the situation with our daughter was extremely concerning, Dr. Baghdasarian immediately made us feel safe, reassured, and confident that everything was going to be okay and that was exactly the outcome. I love my dentist and my dental hygienist - beyond love them. I do not like the billing protocols. I feel uncomfortable about being required to pay before a procedure. I don't find the scheduling calls when they ask you to change you appointment helpful and the texts that threaten you with fines if you need to cancel. A little hypocritical. Such a wonderful clinical team and then this strange scheduling and billing experience. My husband's dentist a few doors down doesn't handle the business side this way. read more

Having had bad experiences elsewhere with dentists that say you need work done when you really don't, Dr. B had my instant loyalty when maybe my first or second visit I pointed out a spot I thought might be a cavity and he said it was fine. He could have easily lied and I would have went with it. Every staff person I have encountered here is amazing. I appreciate Dr. B and the team at Genesis Dental Esthetics. Before coming to Genesis Dental, I had been going to another dentist in Pasadena. When that other dentist failed to examine my teeth at a cleaning and subsequently quoted me $1600 (which included a $600 "aesthetic" fee) to fix a decaying filling, I came to Dr. B for a second opinion. The Genesis Dental team is super responsive, and got me in for a consultation quickly. Dr. B did the consult and showed me exactly where there was decay and prescribed a plan of action to get my fillings fixed (at around 1/3 the cost of my prior dentist)! I waited to write this review until all my fillings had been taken care of and am so glad I switched my care over to Dr. B and the team at Genesis Dental. I arrived at Genesis Dental Esthetics with a serious issue with my oral health. Due to genetic underdevelopment of my mid face, I lost many of my teeth at a very young age and as a young adult, I starting becoming very self conscious about my smile and my face in general due to my teeth and facial development issues. I went to many doctors and each one quoted me astronomical amounts of money which was way beyond my reach. I found Dr. Baghdasarian and his staff and decided to try one last time and see if he could help me. To my surprise, Dr. Baghdasarian was able to offer me dental implant therapy combined with prosthetics in order to correct my smile and restore all my missing teeth. Given the amount of treatment, his fees were very reasonable compared to what I had been quoted before. He also showed me that I did not need as much treatment as previously presented to me by other doctors. I just finished my treatment plan with him after more than a year of surgeries, crowns, and prosthetic work and I'm very happy with my results.
