Great convenient food if you want a quick snacks. Decent price. Variety of quick hot snacks. Recommend!

This is the original location! We heard about this place and love gas station fried chicken so we had to try it. The pork skins weren't crispy. Seemed like it was sitting out for a while. I'm sure they are better fresh. The 3 pc box came with 2 thighs, 1 drumstick and 3 wedges. The chicken was crispy and juicy but a bit salty. The wedges weren't crispy and just okay. Overall, it was just okay. Def not better than KFC or Popeyes but at least I tried it! read more

We stopped here to get gas before heading to airport. While getting gas, I went inside to check out the food since we had good experience with gas stations service and food lately. But not with this location. As I was checking out the food they have, I needed to use the restroom first. I asked the cashier if there's a restroom I could use and she mentioned it is outside but I needed to get the key from the Mexican Restaurant next door. I went there and they told me they don't have the key, the gas station has it. So I went back to the same cashier repeatedly what the staff at the restaurant told me. But the cashier was sending me back to the restaurant for the key. I asked her who operates the restrooms, she said they do but they don't have the key. I told her we were in the process of getting gas and I was going to buy food I just needed to use the rest room first. But she keep pushing me away. She wasn't friendly at all. Seems like she thought I was lying about buying food. But I was really going to buy spam and teriyaki chicken musubi. Plus we were already getting gas which she said that its part of them. I was disappointed that I decided not to get my favorite food but I was more disappointed with her service. read more

Best fried chicken on Maui plus the potato wedges are out of this world. Fast service and great value too!

Chicken thighs are so tough they're inedible. I used to eat them regularly but they're terrible now.

Was telling my friends how good their chicken was so they insisted we come here. Mind you I've only had their chicken on the Big Island so I was assuming all the same. While the chicken was crunchy the pieces were soooo tiny! Looked like it was a fat pigeon or a Cornish game hen. And it was a bit dry too. My friends were underwhelmed. Oh well. read more

IMHO Heard so many good things about Minit Stop's fried chicken that we had to make it our first eating stop when we arrived in Maui. This is a convenience store like 7/Eleven but with a great variety of hot foods, and grab-and-go bowls/packages of yummy Hawaiian goodness. Since we knew we had a 4:30 Merriman's dinner reservation, we opted for a three-piece fried chicken and potato wedges for a snack. It was just what we needed to satisfy us. The chicken was good, but not KFC good. Yet I will still go back since I love me some fried chicken!!! read more

Time to update my review of Minit Stop.............for you folks that are not familiar with the Famous Minit Stop, you can only find these stores on Maui or the Big Island, and they are known for their delicious Frrrrrrrrried Chicken! I have to admit, every time I come here, garans Bruddah Fran is gonna get his Frrrrrrrrrried Chicken! But recently, Minit Stop has come out with a new item, and lucky for me, my Yelp buddy - Maria P. posted this wonderful new snack! May I present to you folks...................Da FLYING SAUCER! What is a Flying Saucer???? Well, it basically a flaky pie like crust that is loaded with some kinda filling, and as you can see by my pic..............it kinda looks like a flying saucer (wouldn't ya say so?). At Minit Stop, they offer the following fillings for their Flying Saucers - 1. Lobster Melt 2. Teri Pork 3. Bulgogi 4. Chicken Adobo 5. Pizza Supreme 6. Tuna Melt 7. Apple Tart The day I came here, I was actually looking to try the Lobster Melt, but when I got to the back of the convenience store to hunt down my Lobster Melt, they actually ran out. (Insert sad Panda Face :/ ) Lucky for me the Aunties working there were nice enough to make the Lobster Melt Flying Saucer for me, so I decided to get 2 fresh Lobster Melts. But wait................Auntie is akamai (smart) as she upsells me and tells me if I buy 3 Flying Saucers, it's $10 Bucks. DEAL Auntie! So I get 3 Flying Sauces for $10 Smackaz, and my 3rd Flying Saucer to be the Tuna Melt. The regular cost for a Flying Saucer is $3.99, but I guess since I bought 3 of them, and promptly destroyed all 3 in one seating (call me pig boy!), that comes out to like $3.33 or so............. What can I say about the Flying Saucer???? I was not caught off guard, or surprised at how good it was for my cheap snack, because my Yelp buddy - Maria P. has good taste! Follow her, and you will find da GRINDZ my friends! The pastry crust was light, buttery, & flaky. The filling inside of the Flying Saucer was generous. Although I found both Lobster & Tuna melts to be quite tasty.................I would have to favor the Lobster for da WIN! Now if I can only get the Chicken Adobo on my next try....................Auntie said it was coming soon! Last of all, much MAHALO to da Aunties for making me da Lobster Melts. Although it took about a 15 minute wait, it was all worth it, and Auntie also gave me a free fountain drink due to the wait. (Auntie, you da bestest!) As good as this new Flying Saucer item was......................Bruddah Fran is still gonna stick to his Frrrrrrrrried Chicken, and Minit Stop is a great place to go to, for dat great Frrrrrrrrried Chicken! read more

Sometimes the chicken and potato wedges are on point and sometimes, like our last. Is it to the Hilo and Kawaihae Harbor location was not so good. Both of the chicken in our order were dry and no more flavor. The potato wedges were okay but not fresh. But next time we on the Big Island we will try again read more

In 1982, Minit Stop store opened its doors on Dairy Road in Kahului. At the time, the only convenience store on the Valley Isle to offer hot food service and onolicious Maui Fried Chicken and potato wedges. Today 17 stores strong and growing, with eight Minit Stops on Maui and nine on the Big Island. Each store offers an island menu of "home-cooked" entrees along with a wide variety of fresh salads and sandwiches daily. The top best sellers are the legendary Minit Stop fried chicken and potato wedges! I believe this is why they call it MAUI'S Fried Chicken. This is the location in the heart of Kahului, right on Dairy Road as you leave or on your way to the airport. lt sounds crazy but this is one of the places that we stop before mainland sometimes to bring to our friends. Plus, how can you resist all the hurricane options. You will have to get the fried chicken, wedges, and the F'real. read more

Convenience store chicken!!?? Yeah I know I had my doubts initially. But when the Confucius of fried chicken, Braddah Fran C recommends it, I have to go check it out! During my April visit to Maui, I enjoyed Minit Stop's fried chicken from their Kihei location. This trip, I was based out of Kahului. So after a day I was ono for fried chicken, I thought about driving 20 minutes down to Kihei, but then I thought, "they're a convenience store chain, maybe there's one in Kahului?" So a quick Yelp searched revealed one not half a mile away from my hotel! I quickly drove down. Yep, Minit Stop's famous $3.19 fried chicken thigh & musubi! The frried chicken thigh was excellent- nice seasoned batter with a good crrunch, with a nice sized musubi to accompany. In addition, it's nice to know their spam musubi was voted Maui's favorite by somebody. In addition to the normal convenience store items, tere were two display cases of heated "to go" items, and MS had a counter in back if you wanted plate lunches or boxes/barrels of fried chicken. Very enjoyable, and someplace to keep in mind when my travels bring me back to Kahului! Mahalo for the tip, Braddah Fran! Will repeat and highly recommend! read more

Minit Stop is Maui's version of 7Eleven though they're not open 24 hours. The've even expanded to the Big Island with several locations. Most have gas stations but all of them have kitchens serving their famous fried chicken and potato wedges. This location in the Akaku Center on Dairy Road is the chain's first. Parking is adequate. On top of the usual convenience store offerings and their fried chicken, they've expanded their food menu to include a handful of local plate lunches like roast pork, hamburger steak, katsu, fried fish, tacos, chicken adobo and several styles of bento (pre-packed lunch trays). Personally, I like their fried chicken. They're sold either by the piece, in combinations, by the bucket, or catering-sized trays. They also do wingettes, drummettes, and just chicken skin too. The potato wedges are battered and deep-fried; very good and hearty. A few years ago, I had their Portuguese Bean Soup at their Wakea Ave. and Central Ave. locations which were insanely tasty! TIP: If you have an HFN (Hawaii Fueling Network) card, you can fill up here, paying the same discounted rate as you'd pay at an HFN station. The only problem is you won't know the price until you receive your statement as the discounted prices aren't posted. OVERALL: Support local, good prices, rewards card, tasty fried chicken. read more

Gas station fried chicken wow so good, if on Maui check um out so ono!! Several locations to go to.

I love me some fried chicken. I like to come here when we head to the beach and grab some fried chicken. Sometimes that's the best tasting foods at the beach lol. But when you're hungry and want something for lunch head here and look for a hot food cabinet and grav a chicken and rice ball, that's perfect for lunch 2 bucks and some change. Can't go wrong. They have cold drinks, beer, Soda, water. I'd you need ice for your cooler they have that to. That have a paltry card you can gwt also for future savings. You can also save on gas. Staff are usually friendly. But be aware the homeless like to hang in the area. read more

Aloha , I patronize the Lahaina store , it's a clean store but the are not consistent with certain food Their salads have been pretty awful ( brown salad ) lately matter fact gonna stop going , it's been almost a week that it is the way , I even spoke with a cashier letting her know the bottom of the salad was brown she said oh ok nothing else happened There is times when the sandwich and salads are empty like today one salad and was brown. Anyway still will buy chicken here and there but cannot drive everyday to get lunch and be dissatisfied read more

hit or miss every time. fried chicken should be crispy. there chicken is under cooked and the skin/breading has no crunch and is floppy. Do better, it's good when it's cook properly. Lahaina store read more

Who pays for skinless fried chicken?! I bought a 3 piece box, and both thighs were "de skinned" before frying. I thought it was a mistake, so I went back in and asked them to fix it. I was born and raised on Maui, so I know what Minute Stop chicken should be. They said that's how it comes from the factory. If you look at the picture on yelp, this is clearly not the case. I wish I took a picture of those horrible, dried out things. I told them that was dumb, and noticed they sold fried chicken skin on the side. I asked where that fried chicken skin came from, and they said it was "different chicken". Ended up getting a refund and will never shop at this location again. Don't steal my chicken skin, try to resell it to me on the side, then tell me that's just how things are. read more

The chicken is yummy but if you are willing to purchase the largest bucket of 13 thighs but they tell you they only have 11, they say "I cannot give to you the 11 and throw 2 drumsticks in (when drumsticks are sold for cheaper price anyway). They told me I need to order the smaller bucket which is 8 thighs and 8 drumsticks. But I really didn't want drumsticks but that was my only option. Plus lady had terrible customer service skills and couldn't communicate that it was their policy but would just say no can! She even got pissy about it. Also she didn't give good directions about where to collect the liters of coke so everyone is struggling to decipher what she trying to say. Please purchase a google translator app to have near the register for your workers. read more

I ordered a chili plate it supposed to come with 2 drumsticks it came with 2 hard overcooked blackened thighs the wedges was hard I will not eat there again read more

This inconspicuous place has the BEST fried chicken hands down! Crunchy, tasty skin and tender moist meat. Don't get the chili and rice....unless you want canned chili. There's only a couple of tables so plan on getting it to go. You can also pick up ice, drinks, etc for your daily adventure. Go to place whenever I visit family on Maui! read more

It is what it is, just a spot for a quick stop to grab a bite on the run. Nothing fancy or too complicated, just your basics. I have to admit the fried chicken is pretty darn good. Minit Stop - The 12 chicken pack with 12 potato wedges - Convenience Stores Near Me - Kahului, Hawaii

Lets start with what we are dealing with - this is a convenience store, not a "restaurant". My rating is based on considering Minit Stop against other convenience stores/fast food, NOT against sit down restaurants. Ok, that said - this is one of my favorite places in Maui. I regularly grab a bento or some musubi for breakfast on the way to work or to the beach. I also enjoy the fried chicken and especially the potato wedges! Wedges are great, and although they are VERY rich, hurricane wedges are even better. You would be hard pressed to find better food that you can grab and go, or at better prices. I have been to Minit Stops all over Maui, but the Dairy Road location is my usual store. The ladies that work the morning shift are fast and friendly and I look forward to seeing them whenever I stop in. read more

What happened to my favorite juicy, moist, fried chicken on the island?? Decided to get my usual box of 13 pieces of thighs. I have not ordered my favorite for a few months now, so today was the day. The chicken thighs were dry and over fried, unlike the previous juicy, moist chicken that I was accustomed to. So bummed....I also noticed that the prices have gone up and the posted menu on the wall was different. Did they change ownership, recipe??? I will check the Pukalani location and see if there is any difference. read more

Used my own cup for an ice coffee, and got told I can't do that anymore. Looks like Minit Stop needs to get with it. Most places let you do this, way better than using one time use plastic cups and straws. Get with it Minit. This is nothing more that Hawaii's 7-11 but they have spam musabi and inari which gives it is Island flair. The spam musabi is kept warm and is very tasty and reasonably priced. Looking for a cheap, plentiful, local style meal? Minit stop is your place. Premade salads, sandwiches, bentos, musubis and more. Hot entrees like chicken katsu, chili, etc. Apparently they also have the best fried chicken, according to our friend from Maui. I tried a bite of the sweet chili fried chicken and the chicken katsu, both were okay. I would imagine it would taste better if they were fresh from the fryer, instead of sitting under a heating lamp, but what do you expect. I also tried some of the mac salad, which was not that great (lots of mayo, but very bland). And the chili looked like it was from a can, Hormel's perhaps. I got 2 pieces of inari and maki, both of which were really good. Of course, similar to 7-11, they have all kinds of beverages, chips, and random things you may or may not want to purchase (easy mac, anyone?). Good place to pick up stuff for the beach/hike/picnic. read more
