This is the original location! We heard about this place and love gas station fried chicken so we had to try it. The pork skins weren't crispy. Seemed like it was sitting out for a while. I'm sure they are better fresh. The 3 pc box came with 2 thighs, 1 drumstick and 3 wedges. The chicken was crispy and juicy but a bit salty. The wedges weren't crispy and just okay. Overall, it was just okay. Def not better than KFC or Popeyes but at least I tried it!

Was telling my friends how good their chicken was so they insisted we come here. Mind you I've only had their chicken on the Big Island so I was assuming all the same. While the chicken was crunchy the pieces were soooo tiny! Looked like it was a fat pigeon or a Cornish game hen. And it was a bit dry too. My friends were underwhelmed. Oh well.

IMHO Heard so many good things about Minit Stop's fried chicken that we had to make it our first eating stop when we arrived in Maui. This is a convenience store like 7/Eleven but with a great variety of hot foods, and grab-and-go bowls/packages of yummy Hawaiian goodness. Since we knew we had a 4:30 Merriman's dinner reservation, we opted for a three-piece fried chicken and potato wedges for a snack. It was just what we needed to satisfy us. The chicken was good, but not KFC good. Yet I will still go back since I love me some fried chicken!!!

BEHOLD! The Flying Saucer Lobster Melt.......

Time to update my review of Minit Stop.............for you folks that are not familiar with the Famous Minit Stop, you can only find these stores on Maui or the Big Island, and they are known for their delicious Frrrrrrrrried Chicken! I have to admit, every time I come here, garans Bruddah Fran is gonna get his Frrrrrrrrrried Chicken! But recently, Minit Stop has come out with a new item, and lucky for me, my Yelp buddy - Maria P. posted this wonderful new snack! May I present to you folks...................Da FLYING SAUCER! What is a Flying Saucer???? Well, it basically a flaky pie like crust that is loaded with some kinda filling, and as you can see by my pic..............it kinda looks like a flying saucer (wouldn't ya say so?). At Minit Stop, they offer the following fillings for their Flying Saucers - 1. Lobster Melt 2. Teri Pork 3. Bulgogi 4. Chicken Adobo 5. Pizza Supreme 6. Tuna Melt 7. Apple Tart The day I came here, I was actually looking to try the Lobster Melt, but when I got to the back of the convenience store to hunt down my Lobster Melt, they actually ran out. (Insert sad Panda Face :/ ) Lucky for me the Aunties working there were nice enough to make the Lobster Melt Flying Saucer for me, so I decided to get 2 fresh Lobster Melts. But wait................Auntie is akamai (smart) as she upsells me and tells me if I buy 3 Flying Saucers, it's $10 Bucks. DEAL Auntie! So I get 3 Flying Sauces for $10 Smackaz, and my 3rd Flying Saucer to be the Tuna Melt. The regular cost for a Flying Saucer is $3.99, but I guess since I bought 3 of them, and promptly destroyed all 3 in one seating (call me pig boy!), that comes out to like $3.33 or so............. What can I say about the Flying Saucer???? I was not caught off guard, or surprised at how good it was for my cheap snack, because my Yelp buddy - Maria P. has good taste! Follow her, and you will find da GRINDZ my friends! The pastry crust was light, buttery, & flaky. The filling inside of the Flying Saucer was generous. Although I found both Lobster & Tuna melts to be quite tasty.................I would have to favor the Lobster for da WIN! Now if I can only get the Chicken Adobo on my next try....................Auntie said it was coming soon! Last of all, much MAHALO to da Aunties for making me da Lobster Melts. Although it took about a 15 minute wait, it was all worth it, and Auntie also gave me a free fountain drink due to the wait. (Auntie, you da bestest!) As good as this new Flying Saucer item was......................Bruddah Fran is still gonna stick to his Frrrrrrrrried Chicken, and Minit Stop is a great place to go to, for dat great Frrrrrrrrried Chicken!

Convenience store chicken!!?? Yeah I know I had my doubts initially. But when the Confucius of fried chicken, Braddah Fran C recommends it, I have to go check it out! During my April visit to Maui, I enjoyed Minit Stop's fried chicken from their Kihei location. This trip, I was based out of Kahului. So after a day I was ono for fried chicken, I thought about driving 20 minutes down to Kihei, but then I thought, "they're a convenience store chain, maybe there's one in Kahului?" So a quick Yelp searched revealed one not half a mile away from my hotel! I quickly drove down. Yep, Minit Stop's famous $3.19 fried chicken thigh & musubi! The frried chicken thigh was excellent- nice seasoned batter with a good crrunch, with a nice sized musubi to accompany. In addition, it's nice to know their spam musubi was voted Maui's favorite by somebody. In addition to the normal convenience store items, tere were two display cases of heated "to go" items, and MS had a counter in back if you wanted plate lunches or boxes/barrels of fried chicken. Very enjoyable, and someplace to keep in mind when my travels bring me back to Kahului! Mahalo for the tip, Braddah Fran! Will repeat and highly recommend!

Minit Stop is Maui's version of 7Eleven though they're not open 24 hours. The've even expanded to the Big Island with several locations. Most have gas stations but all of them have kitchens serving their famous fried chicken and potato wedges. This location in the Akaku Center on Dairy Road is the chain's first. Parking is adequate. On top of the usual convenience store offerings and their fried chicken, they've expanded their food menu to include a handful of local plate lunches like roast pork, hamburger steak, katsu, fried fish, tacos, chicken adobo and several styles of bento (pre-packed lunch trays). Personally, I like their fried chicken. They're sold either by the piece, in combinations, by the bucket, or catering-sized trays. They also do wingettes, drummettes, and just chicken skin too. The potato wedges are battered and deep-fried; very good and hearty. A few years ago, I had their Portuguese Bean Soup at their Wakea Ave. and Central Ave. locations which were insanely tasty! TIP: If you have an HFN (Hawaii Fueling Network) card, you can fill up here, paying the same discounted rate as you'd pay at an HFN station. The only problem is you won't know the price until you receive your statement as the discounted prices aren't posted. OVERALL: Support local, good prices, rewards card, tasty fried chicken.

I just got to Maui and just had to get a piece of Chicken and a Musubi. Buggah was Winnah's!

Went to Maui last weekend to chill for a day, and whenever I go there my 1st stop is Minit Stop, my go to spot in Maui. Love da Fried Chicken and Musubi! Like Peaches & Herb, what a combination! #killahgrindz

This inconspicuous place has the BEST fried chicken hands down! Crunchy, tasty skin and tender moist meat. Don't get the chili and rice....unless you want canned chili. There's only a couple of tables so plan on getting it to go. You can also pick up ice, drinks, etc for your daily adventure. Go to place whenever I visit family on Maui!

I am the biggest fan of fried chicken sandwiches!!!! This was one of the best fried chicken…read moresandwiches I have ever had. Just look at the photos this chicken and the bun was huge. It was the size of a small infant head! Let's just start off by saying this was the last day on our trip in Maui and I just wanted something quick and easy and on the cheaper side cause everything has been so expensive. So I looked up the food court and saw that this place had numerous different types of dishes and restaurants within the shopping mall. There's nothing really fancy about this food hall, it pretty much looks like a cafeteria. We come from San Francisco so we're used to food halls being fancy five star blah blah blah. This is definitely a bang for your buck kind of place. I could see that a lot of locals come to this place for lunch as well. Walking up to the chicken restaurant I walked up to a kiosk and ordered my food through there. It was about 15 minutes. I wanted to say until I got my food and when I saw it, my eyes grew so big! The chicken was so moist, and there was so much flavor that it was like bing bang in my mouth. I got mine very spicy so definitely if you're looking for spice to order it spicy. All I can say if you want a quick lunch that is delicious and appropriately priced come check this place out and have yourself a chicken sandwich!

It must be my lucky day, because normally when I scroll through Google looking for something to…read moreeat. It's usually hard for me to pick something out of a line up of restaurants I've already tried before. So this time was easy. A name I didn't recognize appeared on my screen. Plus since I always want to try something new. Let's see what Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken has to offer this not so hangry yet, girl. So far so good, their stock photos look appetizing. I already picked out a list of items I'd like to try like the: Chicken Sando, Chicken Fingers, Chicken Wrap, Loaded Fries, Salad w/ Chicken Breast as well as the Loaded Mac & Cheese. As for my first visit I chose to try the Loaded Fries with Medium heat & my fiancé chose the Chicken Bites in Mild. Just to be on the safe side when trying out new restaurants as to what they consider to be spicy. I'll usually start in the middle & work my way up on spice. Mild or medium didn't have that kick I was looking for so I'll try hot on my next visit. Just not sure which item will win my pick just yet. However I am a fan of their logo & overall atmosphere. It's a fun restaurant to order at. They have 3 self serve kiosks to order from. The two on the outside are for ordering Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken & the one in the middle is for ordering off of the dessert menu. Which being that I'm usually not one to order soda. I was extremely excited to have an option to order a Thai Tea Boba from here too. So there's still plenty from their treat menu that I'm eager to try as well. My only suggestion I can think of is maybe having different size options to choose from. Cause my loaded fries came in a massive box. It was enough to feed me for 3 meals, breakfast, lunch & dinner. Dating tips: If you're on a budget take your light eater here for an inexpensive date & just take your leftovers to go. Overall my first experience was a good one & I'll work on getting my spicy lovers to sample Angry Hot. Until next time. XOXO, ChelsieFletcher

While there was a good turn out in the bar area and plenty of TV screens playing the game, when we arrived they had music playing instead. It took us about 20 minutes after sitting for a server to greet us so we could ask to turn on audio. Unfortunately, the slow and disappointing service continued. Someone else mentioned in a previous review a couple years back, but server was really slow getting food orders in and ordering additional rounds after our initial drink order. Our original server disappeared for a break (or end of shit) without ever introducing us to a new server or letting us know someone else would be taking over our table. When we asked if we could split the check, the new server waved her finger at us and responded with an attitude, saying the previous server should have told us they don't allow split checks. We were a large group, so we completely understood the automatic gratuity and would have been fine if it was added to each bill or simply explained the restaurant policy politely but the rude interaction was completely unnecessary. As for the food, we ordered the pupu platter, sliders, fried calamari, and french fries. Nothing stood out, and most of it tasted like typical frozen bar food. The calamari was especially disappointing--it had more of a fish stick texture than fresh calamari. They did have a pretty decent beer selection on tap. The pictures look a lot better than the restaurant actually is, it's a little bit outdated. We sat at the high top bar seating area, close to the sushi bar. We noticed when one of the workers was working at the sushi bar that a strong ocean/wharf smell came through the bar. I get it, we are in Maui but the sushi area smelled more like a seafood prep station than fresh sushi grade fish. Also, the Men's restroom only had one working sink, with the hand dryer not working and no paper towels. Nothing beats coming back to the table from the restroom with wet hands. Overall, this experience didn't live up to the expectations. If you need a spot to just grab a beer and watch the game this place might work, but if you are also looking for welcoming service and a delicious meal, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
