Although I submitted my claim damage forms on Sept 14th, 2015 at 8:13 AM EST, minimoves hasn't started the claim damage process due to the following summary of events. I do not know why there is an outstanding balance when I was told minimoves charges the balance upon pickup of my household goods; I was asked to authorize such transaction and I did. Looking back now I'd have seen this as a red flag and not hire minimoves as I am not sure that that is within general accounting practice though as services haven't been rendered, ie. delivery of my household goods. - $428.72 markup for the nine flight of stairs although a dedicated moving elevator was used to deliver my household goods - A day specific pick up of $250 additional charge, which was scheduled and confirmed by Avon Moving and Storage to be between 12 noon and 4 PM PST on July 8th, 2015. The driver, Steve, and his son from Avon Moving and Storage (minimoves contracted Avon) called at 7:52 PM PST, the only call I received...to let me know that they are delayed. Steve, and his son finished packing the kitchen and loading a one bedroom apartment just shine of one AM PST on July 9th, 2015. minimoves continued to charge the additional $250 day specific. minimoves do not share any responsibilities for their actions. It took many tries before minimoves remove these charges. BEWARE OF CHARGES THAT I WASN'T ADVISED BY MINIMOVES! Additionally, I am unsatisfied because I am noticed there is rust on my Eames chairs, musty smell coming from sofa, warped furniture pieces; rust, musty smell nor warped furniture pieces weren't there prior to the move. Furthermore, I got charged for carpet cleaning because Steve andhis son didn't protect the carpet when they packed and loaded my household goods. I also had to shipTime Warner cable box back to Santa Monica, CA from Washington D.C. as it was packed on the bottom of a dish pack box AFTER we told Steve and his son the cable box is staying. The other movers I had before remembered to leave behind after I told them. IN SUMMARY, DO NOT HIRE minimoves. My husband and I were moving halfway across the country and were surprised to learn that hiring a company for our move was actually a better value than renting a truck and doing it ourselves due to the long distance. My husband called Mini Moves first, and our customer service rep Sherice was so helpful. While the majority of the companies we called refused to give us even an estimate without coming to survey our home, Mini Moves was very accommodating of our busy schedule and spoke to us both over the phone and over email. After getting an initial quote from Mini Moves, I called a couple other companies just to compare quotes. Mini Moves seemed to have the best price, and while the 2 other companies had comparable pricing, we ultimately decided to go with Mini Moves because of the excellent customer service. I went back and forth with Sherice, asking questions about how I could save on certain aspects of our move (like packing our lamps ourselves). She never got impatient with me and always made me feel like she sincerely wanted to help us with our moving experience. In contrast, when speaking with the 2 other companies, I felt rushed and did not feel comfortable asking a lot of questions, even though we were paying thousands of dollars for their service. The Mini Moves movers were also very friendly and professional. They were very polite and treated our items with care. We were told that our belongings would arrive in 10-18 business days, and we were pleasantly surprised when we got the call just 2 weeks later that our belongings would be arriving 2 days from then. We had just moved into our new place, so the timing turned out to be perfect for our move. I would highly recommend Mini Moves. Their price was fair and their service was great! read more

I found working with MiniMoves to be very easy. I sent them a list of what I was moving. They then sent a quote and a pick-up date. The quote is only an estimate and will go up or down based on what is actually picked up and whether the movers also do any of the packing. Monimoves then contracts with a mover to pick things up... the company that picked up my stuff was Amazing Movers. they were very professional and I was pleased with the way they packed my furniture and other items. A few days later, Minimoves sent me an actual bill listing what was picked up and the end cost... while it was close to the quote, there were a few things listed which I had decided to sell/donate before moving and thus weren't picked up. I emailed them and they revised my total down. (While it was resolved, this is one reason for 4 rather than 5 stars). Next I was given a "delivery window" that was nearly two weeks long. As we got to the start of that delivery window, I asked if they could narrow the timeframe down a little, but they only told me that it would be during the delivery window. (This is the other reason for only 4 rather than 5 stars). The day before my stuff was actually delivered, someone called to say they had my stuff and wanted to know if they could deliver it the next day. That was fine and my stuff was delivered by a company called Acme Moving - again, very professional and helpful people. The process was simple, I liked that I was able to pay MiniMoves directly rather than the movers at either pick-up or delivery, and I appreciated that they resolved the billing issue that I had quickly. read more

Everything arrived okay, but it was very difficult to get in contact with someone to schedule my delivery. ESTIMATION The estimation process was quick. I sent Sherice my inventory and quickly had an estimate in hand. As I adjusted my inventory, Sherice quickly responded with updated pricing. PICKUP Pickup was doen by a different moving company that MiniMoves contracts with in Texas. They arrived on time, were polite, and did a great job. DELIVERY This is where I lost a lot of respect for MiniMoves. Someone called me about the delivery of my items while I was in a meeting. I called back in less than 30 minutes and left a message returning the person's call. I did not receive a call back, so I called again towards the end of the day a few times and there was not an answer. Still no answer or returned call the next day, so I contacted Sherice and she said a different person would call me soon. This process continued for FOUR DAYS. At one point, Sherice told me she just talked to dispatch and they are calling me right now and I should let her know if I don't hear something in 10 minutes. Sure enough, no one called! Finally, I received my delivery on the last day of the delivery window. The delivery crew arrived on time and did a good job. Overall, they did an okay job, but certainly added a lot of stress and work on my part trying to get a simple phone call to schedule my delivery. Sherice is the bright spot of the experience. She is responsive and helpful. Without her, my confidence in MiniMoves would be low. I hope she receives the recognition she deserves. read more

Just moved one-bedroom from Chicago to Washington DC metro area and had to do so in a short window of time. Referred to MiniMoves by MoveBuddha, I did my research and compared them with four other movers. MiniMoves was the obvious choice. Anthony Alvarez in Chicago was my contact at the start. He's very knowledgeable and friendly. Was a pleasure working with him. I did my own packing and the three men that came to pick up my stuff (Miguel, Israel & Enrique) were absolutely fabulous. They took such care with my belongings, wrapping them in blankets and then encased them in plastic tape. And they were on time too and did the job in about two hours. Very friendly as well. Would've given MiniMoves 5 stars if there hadn't been a snafu on the destination side. Was told my stuff arrived on the east coast on 9th. After paying the balance due on the 10th, I waited for someone to contact me about delivery but by the end of day on the 11th I hadn't heard from anyone so I called MiniMoves. They said someone had left me a voicemail early in the day on the 10th but that didn't happen. Two days wasted and I was sleeping on a flimsey air mattress. Perhaps they left a VM at the wrong phone number, I still don't know. After much ado, I finally got my stuff on the 14th. My stuff was delivered by 2 very good movers (Antonio and Felix) and was in good condition too except for some doors on my amoire that are not where they should be which I hope that MiniMoves will rectify. Overall, I'm glad I chose MiniMoves and would recommend them. read more

I was kinda worried about moving after reading the online reviews of various companies, which to put it mildly are pretty much atrocious for everyone. However, at least my own experience is that it's as good as it gets with MiniMoves. My experience was fantastic. No upsells or shadiness from the sales rep I called, who was extremely polite and helpful. He went the extra mile in arranging expedited delivery (which I needed because I didn't realize summer moves were so busy). A couple different managers contacted me at each leg to make sure I had no concerns and helped me out promptly with receipts, helping me understand the different insurances, and being patient with my worried inquiries. One thing out of control of pretty much all moving companies are the local movers they contract with. My own experience was fantastic in this regard too, but I can understand how different people in different regions experience things differently. My local companies in upstate NY and then in eastern Washington were really nice, really hard working, and all took great care of my stuff. I had wooden furniture that arrived without a scratch. Overall, they get 5 stars from me. Reading some of these other reviews, some of these negative reviews are just not in ANY moving company's control. All you can hope for is a company that will deal with you fairly, with politeness, and attempt to make your moving experience as painless as possible. thank you MiniMoves! read more

Do not use MiniMoves if you have anything of value. This is my first time using Yelp for a negative review, but I want to make sure that others are aware when shipping important items. Coming from the Customer Service industry for close to 15 years, this was one of the most unfriendly experiences. 1. To start they were great to set up the move. Helpful! 2. They got my "money". 3. The pick up went great... then downhill from there. 4. They called me 10 days after my pick up telling me I owed hundreds of dollars more. I had already signed paperwork and approved the other cost. They were once again very EAGER to get money from me. The manager and rep called/emailed multiple times to ensure I paid the "extra" money. 5. My items arrived at the warehouse and I was told they would not be delivered for a week more and then all of a sudden the next day they wanted to set up delivery for that day. 6. When my items arrived, every single piece was broken and every piece of clothing smelled or had mold on it. 7. When I emailed the team that was helping me - no one reached out other than saying someone from claims would be in touch. 8. Still the only person in touch is the claims rep. I received a couple hundred dollars for ALL that was broken. NOT WORTH IT! BE AWARE! Maybe cross country moves with them and a lot of pieces is not their specialty. Once again I apologize for the negative review, but be aware. DO NOT SHIP anything of value. read more

Do not be surprised by the negative reviews. This company does not come close to living up to its promises. They picked up ok and filled out paper work ok and took my money just fine. It was downhill from there. They assured me multiple times my car and my furniture would be there on time. I paid additional fees for a guarantee of one date or the next day. I called multiple times (2 separate moves the car and furniture) to follow and try to deal with any issues as this went along. So the day i was to get the car it was 500 miles away in georgia rather than south florida. I had to make several phone calls to even find put where the car vwas so that mini moves could deal with it. Needless to say they were 3 days late on their guarantee. They will not reimburse me. The car had sat in front backwards and had hundreads of dead bugs plastered into the body of the car. The furniture was 5 days late even though it was in their warehouse in sothern florida. They were too busy to deliver on one of the two guarante dates. They bew when i was moving in so they changed the deivery time to before i could take possesion of the furniture. When i said it was too early they said up too ad we can deiver it in 5 dys. Even though they have a written guarantee of that day or the next. Read the fine print. They were nasty and suddenly would not get on the phone with me. They had my money and very Ittle in the way of service after that. read more

We recently relocated to Arlington Heights, outside of Chicago. We drove in from Ohio and had packed our own U-HAUL truck. So we only utilized their services to unload the truck and deliver the items to our new apartment. They arrived 20 minutes early, but this was intentional given the weather was horrible and they didn't want to be late. We didn't have the freight elevator reserved for another 20 minutes and they waited patiently. Once we secured the elevator, they got to work immediately. They had our items unloaded and in our apartment within one hour. They even moved some boxes twice, and refused to let me help when I felt bad asking them to relocate these boxes. They were extremely professional, polite, and courteous. We worked with Eleazar and Tay, and we couldn't be happier. The price was reasonable in my opinion - having moved multiple times we felt it was comparable to other companies and these two individuals we had the pleasure of working with today were by far the most respectful of our items. Nothing was damaged or broken. We were extremely impressed and pleased with their service. We will definitely consider Mini Moves in the future, should we move again. We expected this day to be horrible stressful, but thanks to Eleazar and Tay it was extremely easy and efficient. Thank you!! read more

Our move reminded me of a well oiled machine, from start to finish it went smoothly and as quoted. It quickly became apparent that this wasn't there first time to the rodeo and they had the whole process down to a science! Our sales guy Todd was our first contact with the company and was great to work with, handled the contract and all my questions, went out of his way to remind us what was going to happen on move day and how to get everything ready. Next up was the driver who called the night before to let us know what time they'd be arriving - he also called the morning of the move to tell us they were mobile and be arriving as planned. The three mover's that showed up had obviously done this before - I couldn't believe how organized they were and how well they worked as a team! We had no mishap's, no holes in the wall, scrapes on the floor, nothing! We bought pizza's towards the end of the move and asked the mover's to join us - they thanked us for the offer but declined until the move was done - they said they didn't want me to have to pay to watch three guys eat pizza. Once the move was done they grabbed some pizza, thanked us, and hopped in their truck and were off to the next move....real professionals!!! I will definitely will use them again and will recommend them as my mover of choice!! read more

My wife and I were moving to Indiana for her job so, after spending all of my life as a diehard Chicagoan, I had to set about finding movers. Knowing that it was across state lines (only 70 miles but still in another state), movers would be expensive. I googled and spent time on Yelp and stumbled across MiniMoves. Wow! What a pleasant experience. Michelle, the assistant in the front office, worked with me every step of the way. I felt guilty changing things up on her several times (they charge per piece) but she was not fazed at all. My real concern was being able to receive our stuff the same day. I know that if you have an interstate move, you may need to wait a few days which was unacceptable. Michelle worked with me to ensure that the movers got my stuff to me the same day. The movers, Ivan and Eric, ROCKED!!! They were quick, professional and very friendly. I had a pick-up window of 9 am-11 am. Eric called ahead to let me know exactly when they would arrive. They arrived on time and set to work immediately. When all was said and done, they arrived at our new place in Indiana about 20 minutes after my wife and I showed up! I am still waiting for the credit card to be charged because I want to ensure the amount is accurate but, I would recommend them in a heartbeat. read more

I've made....um, I can't even count how many cross-country moves I've made, each with a different vendor. The last one I made, the movers didn't even show up the day they planned and "did me a favor" by coming the next, all while I was slated to catch a cross-country flight. So, it was with a bit of trepidation that I started the search for movers when my spouse and I planned our cross-country move from California to the east coast. And let me say: I'm so incredibly happy we found MiniMoves. Our move was complicated as we'd be in various cities leading up to the collection of our stuff, then it needed to be stored for an unspecified period of time until we found a home. Steve, our contact at MiniMoves, outlined the entire process, gave us prompt and attentive quotes, and was fully transparent on pricing. The pickup was on time and very friendly + professional. Kathy then took over the relationship, gave us an update on the storage and delivery process, and worked with us to schedule a delivery time. Again, timely, friendly, and professional. The whole process couldn't have been any better. I've already referred MiniMoves to the handful of friends also making the exodus away from California, and I'll continue to do so. read more

Getting a moving quote is tricky business. I called on several movers and opted for MiniMoves. They were not my cheapest quote but the process with them was easier than with others based on my needs. I spoke with a gentleman named Steve and he was friendly and tried to clearly outline the process with me so that I would not incur additional costs the day of the move. Despite one cannot foresee what happens on the day of... The movers came and I had additional items. Because I left it to them to pack those items, they generously packed and repacked a few of my boxes. I was told that the repacking was to ensure that my items would not break. This added costs to my move. I'm still not thrilled with that tactic of the movers. I didn't believe that the added costs were fair and called their billing person Whitney. I really didn't like my experience with her and ended up on the phone with the owner. In the end the owner comped me some of the additional costs to try to make the situation fair and I greatly appreciate it. Overall I think you can have a good experience with MiniMove you just need to be absolutely clear with expectations. You really don't want a lot of changes from the quote to the day of the move. read more

I used MiniMoves for my first time moving, which was from Maryland to Seattle, Washington. The Minimoves team made the process very easy for me. Their representatives were very responsive to any questions that I had throughout the process. The day of pickup, their agent company's team loaded everything in my 1 bedroom apartment into their truck in about 2 hours (they had to wrap some of my furniture, which they did SUPER WELL by the way). No idea how they pack things though, as I packed most of my stuff myself. It took them about 10 days to get my stuff to Seattle. They dropped all of my stuff off very professionally, putting the furniture right where I wanted it in my new apartment. They also handled all my "fragile" boxes (which I marked as such) very carefully - nothing came broken. All of my furniture was intact - they unwrapped mostly everything. The delivery team was also super friendly. The only thing I noted was that they did not assemble my bed upon delivery, which I assumed they would do based on the contract - no big deal though. Also, they failed to unwrap my headboard. But other than those 2, the MiniMoves team did great all around. Would recommend for any move! read more

Really impressed by this company. First, happy that it was a "flat" rate by items rather than by weight. The last time I moved across country, it ended up being $1,000 more than the quote because the boxes were "heavier" than they estimated. No surprises this time around. In fact, because there were fewer items than estimated, they actually REFUNDED me over $200. That's unheard of - shows real honestly and integrity. They didn't have to do that, and I never would have known the wiser. Steve was pleasant and very responsive when I first ran the bid estimates. He allowed me to add and subtract items from the list so that I could see whether it was "worth" shipping certain objects. It took a while for the items to be delivered (20 days from Los Angeles to Baltimore), and both the pickup and delivery drivers were about an hour late, BUT it was within the time frame of the estimate (last day), and its nearly impossible for these guys to estimate the exact time. Both the pickup and delivery guys were quick and courteous and they never charged my card until the things were delivered. No additional feel for credit card payment. Would definitely recommend and use again! read more

If you value your sanity, do NOT use this company!!!!! I am in the middle of a move with them from New York City to Milwaukee, WI, and am also in the middle of lodging a complaint with BBB. Before I signed with them, they told me my things would be picked up in New York July 24-29, and delivered August 4-8. After I signed, I couldn't get them to give me an exact date for my pickup until the evening of July 28th, completely screwing up my travel plans. (This is after ignoring my daily phone calls for an entire week, requesting an exact date). Worst of all, a couple days AFTER they picked up my things, I'm told that my things won't be delivered August 4-8, but rather 10-20 business days after pickup! I won't get my things for weeks! I'm paying rent on a new apartment I can't even live in b/c Minimoves has all my worldly possessions; I'm going to be starting a new job and have no work attire or important paperwork for my job b/c I packed it for my move, mistakenly believing this company would honor their word and deliver my things before I started work. If you go with this company, get EVERYTHING in writing. Better yet, rent a truck and do it yourself. read more

Fantastic company. We booked very late, on a Tuesday for a Saturday delivery, but their head of scheduling, Tasmos, very kindly rearranged some things so that we could have our desired morning slot. We had been given a quote for three movers for two hours, but we ended up with two movers for three hours and the cost was the same. Those two movers were absolutely brilliant (Manuella and Chavros?) - incredibly fast but they clearly took the upmost care with our possessions. Nothing was damaged (we were moving one apartment worth of furniture/boxes about two miles from storage to the new apartment) and moreover, the movers were friendly, cheerful and incredibly helpful when we ran into some problems at the new apartment (ie it was not cleaned, so we didn't know what to do with our things). They really saved our day. I'm surprised to read any negative reviews about Mini Moves. As another reviewer has said, they were fast, attentive, organized and professional, and helped us out in a bind. As long as you are clear about what your needs are, and able to confirm the details in advance, I really don't think you'll have any regrets about going with this company. read more

Great service, reliable, 5 stars. I was hesitant about hiring cross-country movers but Mini Moves was super organized, always on time, communicated constantly, and was efficient + careful with my fragile things. They basically moved my home stress-free cross-country. While their price was higher than other move options I evaluated, I knew I wanted to go with what I was hoping was better quality and service. Even my large super flat screen TV arrived in perfect condition. It took 2 weeks for my things to arrive and they coordinated local movers at both ends to get things to and from the Mini Moves warehouses. There were no surprise charges and at the end of it all someone called to make sure I was happy and received everything. Would highly recommend Mini Moves if you're evaluating a cross-country move. Make sure you're prepared with a list of all your questions for your initial calls, get full transparency on everything that is charged, make a list of things you plan to pack/put in the Mini Moves trucks and make sure you're packed/ready to go on moving day. These help the entire process stay smooth and for you to know what you're paying for. read more

My father passed away and step mom was selling the house. She closed pretty quickly and my sisters and I had a very small window to move the rest of his things from GA to CT. Our rep Frances was amazing. Not only did she understand the importance of making sure the last of my dads things were well taken care of but she was so empathetic to the situation and making sure she took care of the details and that the process was as seamless and stress free as possible. She was always available and if you left her a voicemail she was calling back within 10 min. The move itself was very organized. They called a couple days before pickup to let us know the time frame and came on the earlier side of the pickup window. They called a couple days before the items would be delivered as well. Giving a window of 8am-10am and showed up a little after 8am. Pricing was very reasonable considering the distance and that we only had a few pieces of furniture, they made it easier then we thought possible. I would recommend Minimoves again and again and would definitely use them for future moves. Hands down best moving company I've used. read more
