Quick and dirty is: - Food is excellent and the portions are large, too - The have vegetarian options that are delicious - Unfortunately, there are two other Korean places not very far away (55/54 area) that are exceptionally good and much cheaper (especially for lunch) Ultimately, I consider Min Ga a "laziness tax" when I don't have the time/energy to drive 15 minutes away for a less expensive and just as good (if not better) Korean food. One of my favorite spots in town! My friends and I always have reunions here. Their cheese dukkboki always hits the spot (though sometimes it's more soupy than others). Also omg! Their zhajangmian is superb! Noodles have the perfect amount of bite and the addition of gochujang on the side (served in a ketchup bottle) makes it perfect for my tastes. It was a saturday night and we had gathered at about 6 30 p.m. The place was not full but still pretty busy. We got drink orders taken quickly and all our questions regarding food were answered. The guy had some good suggestions. the food itself was good, but not great. coming from CA, i've come to accept that ethnic food will always pale in comparison. Overall, however, it was pretty decent and satisfied my craving until I can make my way back to CA. I had the seafood tofu pot. I had it done "mildly" on the spicy scale and it came out just right. However, in the menu picture, it clearly showed an egg was added to the soup.. mine came out with egg missing. When i asked for one, the waiter made it seem like they typically don't include an egg, but he was happy to provide me with one. i'm not korean, but every tofu house i've ever been to has provided eggs. The seafood was pretty good.. the broth just wasn't AS good as i'm used to. either way, it was still hot and the tofu soft. We also ordered the shaved ice dessert with red bean and condensed milk. The ice wasn't 'shaved'.. it was more like crushed ice you find in a snow cone. It was still pretty good though. we shared it among our group. The parking lot can fill up quickly so be aware. They were able to split our checks without any mistakes. With a dearth of Korean restaurants in the triangle, my friends and I were itching to go here, but none of us could muster the energy to finish half of our plates because the food was THAT lackluster. We ordered everything under the sun from bulgogi, kimchi pancakes, dukboki, pork dumplings, and dukmandu guk. Spicy dishes did not come out spicy at all, the bulgogi was egregiously overcooked, and it was blatantly obvious that the side dishes weren't remotely fresh. The kimchi pancakes were the only half decent dish, although they didn't taste authentic (and most of the seasoning on the other dishes wasn't authentic). We were disappointed after hearing raving reviews of Min Ga, but a friend who had been here before remarked that the quality has dropped off. We will not be here again, especially since we ended up paying close to forty dollars per person (including split appetizers) to leave hungry. read more

An awesome Korean spot for those on the western part of the triangle (near Raleigh, Seoul Garden is it) - ordered the japchae ramen noodles with spicy beef and was not disappointed. The noodles were incredible, the beef seasoned just right, and of course the awesome banchan (appetizers). The menu boasts an extensive selection of Korean dishes, some quite authentic (maybe will try the intestines next time). Only regret is that it's not closer. Five stars! read more

Honestly I'm surprised on the score this place has. I'm Korean, have eaten Korean food all my life and this is not authentic Korean food. Yes, the names are the same but flavors are very off. This is what usually happens when you grow and start having Mexican cooks in the kitchen. Korean owners does not imply Korean cooks. I understand people may like this place because it matches their western palate more. But all of those claiming this place has authentic Korean food have never eaten it on a daily basis. Staff is pleasant the mandu, bibimbab, and pacheon (vegi pancake) are all good. I'm in town for business and found this little gem. Although it has a nice Oriental look to it and is right off a main road, if you aren't looking for it you'll pass it. I ordered the Korean roll and Stone Bowl Bibimbap with beef... both were delicious! The meal was served quickly, steaming hot, and the prices are competitive to others like this in the area. Met Lauryn C for lunch here and first impressions were high. Beautiful space, cozy atmosphere, clean bathrooms (though no soap) and the menu looked great. We each ordered the bulgoki boxes (Lauryn had pork, I had chicken). They each came with dumplings, salad, and a Korean roll. They brought out bowls of miso soup, which were lukewarm. The salad was good and dumplings were ok (hard to mess up a deep fried dumpling). The roll and meat on the other hand was not. The roll was bland and the meat, while hot, had no flavor, and was gristly with extra skin. We left it half eaten and felt queasy the rest of the afternoon. The price was high, it was a 20 minute drive from RTP, and left a bad taste in my mouth. Good thing I had delicious Mexican for supper to make up for a disappointing lunch. read more

Probably my favorite Korean place in the area that I have tried so far (I visited 3 times in one week). My mom grew up eating Korean food and really enjoyed both the stone pot bibimbap and seafood pancake dishes. The cheese tteokbokki was really good and it came with ramen under it, which was a nice surprise. The KBBQ was good but they have limited options when compared to big KBBQ places you might visit on the west coast or Gyu-Kaku, but is a good option if you have a craving. After Susan's picture exposure of Min Ga's Kimchi Pancake, I was itching to go here and try it out! To celebrate vacation time, we hopped over 15-501 to try it out. We came in pretty early on a Thursday evening, and we knew it was going to be a good experience when we were the only non Asian people in the joint. ;) We walked in and were immediately seated and given menus, and promptly asked for our drink order. We feasted our eyes on the menu, and decided to start with appetizers. Our drinks came out almost immediately! Of course - we got the coveted kimchi pancake (with seafood!) and a roll. We dug in and were really happy with what we got! The pancake was as good as it looks, and as Susan mentioned - crispy and fluffy all at once. We also ordered the standard Bulgolgi and a Pork Sausage Hot Pot. The meal came with all of the traditional side dishes, and I got to have the sesame oil bean sprouts and crystal noodles all to myself since the hubs wasn't a fan. :) :) The bulgolgi was pretty standard Korean fare - they don't have BBQ tables, so it came cooked. The meat wasn't the best quality, but the marinade was perfect and still quite enjoyable. The sausage hot pot had some REALLY tasty broth! We both enjoyed that thoroughly. As the night went on, more and more people came into the restaurant, and the service was still spot on. We were happy with our server's pace, recommendations, and good humor. We'll definitely go back the next time I get a hankering for Korean! I also kind of want to go back for lunch to try out some of their bento boxes, and to get a taste of their Japanese menu. read more

I don't understand why it has such low ratings for an establishment that's pretty dang good. We came here for my birthday dinner and the food was fantastic. The service at first was a little weird because the waiter thought we were with the other big party that was there, so she and he ignored us for an awkward few minutes. The service team is also not your typical korean ah-ji-mahs. They were both too cool for school types. No judgement, just FYI. The Kimchi pancake was especially delicious. It was HUGE. A nice crisp on the outside and it even has squid in it. I'm not sure if they made a mistake and gave us the seafood pancake instead. So if you don't like squid, make sure to clarify. The little appetizer dishes were good, but not superb. Most of the dishes were overly salted. =/ We got the seafood hotpot and added noodles to it. It was delicious and not too fishy. It even came with legit crab legs in it. We were so stuffed that we didn't have room for bingsoo (shaved ice with toppings and ice cream). I'd definitely go back for that! read more

I went to MinGa for lunch on Monday and was pleased with my experience there. The restaurant serves really authentic Korean and Japanese food, even serving the small cold appetizers that are always found in authentic Korean restaurants. It was clean and was great for a nice lunch during the weekday. I ordered the Kimchi Jigae. It's basically a hot pot of kimchi soup and tofu, pork, and onions served with a bowl of rice on the side. The dish was not too spicy and was really filling for a lunch portion. The pork was tender and the soup has full of flavor. The wait staff was really helpful and provided great service. Overall, great restaurant with authentic Korean and Japanese food. The prices are moderate and are well worth the portion size you get and the service was really good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious authentic meal. read more

Summary: It's impossible to reconcile the multiple excellent reviews of this place with what we experienced last night, which was three different dishes and banchan (the small sides served at the beginning) that all tasted like the chef flavored them with a bottle of what I'd imagine would be labeled "nasty sauce." Details: A friend, my girlfriend, and I showed up around 9PM on Saturday, 5/2 and were promptly seated. The server didn't seem like he could care any less, but I know that's more a cultural difference, and so I wasn't phased. The restaurant looked nice on the inside, and the menus were colorful, with plenty of good looking pictures of the menu items, which were fairly extensive. The first thing you'll notice is that the prices are quite high (e.g. 15$ for a, albeit reportedly large, seafood pancake), but, not yet having tasted the food, I wasn't alarmed. I was excited to hear they had soju (like a Korean vodka), but I wasn't willing to pay 15$ per bottle. Anyway, if anything, the higher food prices biased me into thinking the food would be very good. Silly, silly me... Now, for the ordering... I got the spicy beef cold noodles, a dish I've eaten and enjoyed many times. Unobservant as usual, I failed to notice what the other two ordered, but they were also both noodle dishes. Unlike other Korean restaurants I've been to, this one doesn't bring out the banchan until right before the entrees, so if you're expecting to snack before your meal, forget about that. Also unlike other Korean restaurants I've been to, this one serves you banchan that's barely edible, so if you're expecting to enjoy your snack, forget about that as well. The standout star of this parade of unpalatable little disasters was the kimchi. Kimchi is normally sour from the fermentation process (though not all kimchi is fermented), and spicy from red pepper powder. At any rate, kimchi is flavorful. The cabbage "kimchi" here was sorta dried out and almost completely flavorless, with just a hint of the "nasty sauce" I mentioned in the summary. None of the various sides tasted quite right, from the cucumber to the radish. I'm not sure how it's possible to screw up such simple things, but they managed. OK, here come the entrees. Everything looks fine, but a couple bites into my cold noodles, I come to a terrible realization. Everything tastes the same, and that taste is nothingness with a hint of nasty. From the kimchi to the beef in my noodle dish, there's that same pervasive, almost unsettling, lack of flavor. How is it possible? I try the other two entrees, and they're the same. They look so different. I honestly don't understand it. Korean food is amazingly flavorful... contrasting yet balanced flavors are a motif in Korean cooking... I love Korean food. This place is a travesty! Aftermath: Though I felt ashamed, I sent my entree back. I've never done that before. The charge was removed from our bill without incident immediately after I told our waiter that, yes, I have had this dish before. Not sure what would have happened if I would have said no to that question. In solidarity with the world's hungry, my two companions finished their meals, though they clearly did not enjoy them. Retrospective: As I asked above, how is this possible? How could a highly reviewed restaurant send such terrible food out from the kitchen? All I can figure is that at some point, the restaurant employed a talented chef, and maybe he left and was replaced with a person categorically inept in the art of cooking. I suppose I'll never know what really happened last night, but at least I can make sure it never happens again, at least not to me. read more

We were pretty pleased with our dinner here, the pork bulgolgi was pretty tasty and definitely the highlight of the night. We got a good variety for the banchan, and were super pumped to get a second round of the plates we had devoured, I don't think that's ever happened at a restaurant for us before. The average dish is about ~$15, but I'm used to Korean food being on the more expensive side, so I guess that's normal, even if I don't know why. The inside is really pretty, so thumbs up on the date night aspect on looks, not so much on sound. We unfortunately could hear several conversations going on around us, some that we would rather have not heard. They were not offering sushi on the night we went (?), so I'm not sure how that is, but it didn't seem like they had that much to offer in the way of Japanese food in general. And the two servers definitely needed better communication skills, we were asked about drinks twice, if we needed boxes twice, and checked on many times.
