Homemade hotdog served with spicy homemade coleslaw and delicious quick summertime, bread and butter pickles, be sure and drink the juice.

A friend recommended that I try this place and it was great. It was my 3rd choice if that and boy was I wrong, but how could I have known it would be this good? They have a diner sort of atmosphere. It also has a Vietnamese undertone to the menu. Bon mi and pork cheek salad are two indicators. In some ways, it is like someone who grew up in Vietnam moved to the deep south and worked in a diner. They make their own hotdog, I mean, like the sausage part of the hotdog. I had to try one. I ordered mine with mustard, ketchup, and coleslaw. Their coleslaw has hints of turmeric and spiciness to it, and sort of a yellow color, and it has carrot in it. Spicy with just a hint of Asian flavor. To go with this, I had the BLT sandwich, because I like BLTs. The pig makes its own bacon as in it cures and cut its own bacon. Their BLT was fresh and tasty just like you made it yourself only somehow better. Then I had the pimento and cheese french fries with bacon. A small plate of these is enough for two people, the pimento and cheese to serve hot melted over the fresh fried french fries with bacon crumbles from their house, cut bacon. It was amazing. It was delightful. It was sexy. There's a lot of good stuff on the menu, like they make their own pastrami. I probably should've ordered it because I love pastrami. They also have barbecue plates and the aforementioned pork cheek salad. When I get back this way in a couple of weeks, I'm gonna eat there again. It was over the top delightful. Their sweet tea is wonderful as well.

I came at least 3 years or more ago and was unimpressed by their food and especially their prices - that almost every entre doesn't include a side. We went again today and got a po boy, a single side of hush puppies, and a pulled pork sandwich- $33 - no drinks The sandwiches were decent but not anything I'd crave. I'd say next time to save money I'd just get the sandwich and pass on buying another side and take to go. Service was nice, the guy at the counter was patient as we were not familiar with the menu. Ambience was like any other BBQ place. A plus: they have their own small shared parking lot which is nice

5+ A must attend for local, friendly, delicious, casual, exceptional classic NC bbq with a slight fusion. I had a brisket PO-Boy, soooo good. excellent! We also had a hot ham and cheese and a pastrami Ruben sandwich. Not to forget a pickle plate with green tomatoes, pickled eggs, string beans and pickles beets. And sweet tea! Casual dining. Counter servers were very professional and helpful with some great friendly menu suggestions. Go hear! Go Often! We will return! All excellent!

The Pig was close to our rental house while we were in town. The menu was intriguing and we love barbecue so we decided to check it out. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. The guy at the register was very helpful and nice. The interior was pig themed. The food was definitely five star. They are modern style barbecue so some purist may not enjoy their menu as much. I had the pork cheek sandwich. It was Vietnamese inspired, so pickled vegetables as well as an amazing umami flavor. For my side, I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were also excellent. My son had their barbecue chicken with mac & cheese. I would highly recommend both items. The mac & cheese had a really good flavor and was very creamy. My husband also enjoyed his Cuban sandwich. I would definitely eat here again when in town.

We ordered BBQ plates: Pulled pork, with slaw, pickles and hush puppies. The pulled pork tasted fine, but was a little dry. The pickled cucumbers (rather than pickles, think of them as cucumber slices in vinegar / sugar water) were very good. The hush puppies were made with good dough (not too sweet), but their long curly shapes made the focus on the fried exterior rather than the flavor of the hush-puppies themselves (not so great - too much fried flavor, not enough hush-puppy flavor). The slaw was peculiar and awful -- it was yellow (not sure what that's about), but the big problem was that it didn't resemble normal coleslaw (or the coleslaw pictured on the restaurant's web site). This slaw had been run through a blender, chopped so fine that the little pieces were about 1-mm across (way too small, losing all texture and crunch). Someone left the slaw in the machine for far too long -- not good). The Pig had been strongly recommended to us -- we were disappointed.

Plenty of parking in a shared lot. Small place with limited tables. Just an FYI for anyone not from NC and or from a state that has real pit BBQ the term BBQ in NC means pulled pork in a vinegar based sauce. I have had NC BBQ many times on the past when I live in NC and also when visiting but today I decided to get a catfish po-boy We were in a group of 4 and all the food was good, service was fast and friendly. Potato salad is redskin potatoes and mustard based and really good, but the coleslaw is odd, finely diced ingredients and yellowish in color, taste started out like coleslaw but finished weird, not a fan as I prefer regular coleslaw Overall place was good and would visit again. Prices a little high for po-boys without including a side of fries. However they do give a large serving of the pickles which are really good taste like bread and butter pickles.

Excellent North Carolina BBQ. Perfect amount of vinegar, very tasty. I am back for a visit and it's been years since I'd eaten NC BBQ. This was as good as I remembered.

It's a simple diner-style barbecue joint. The service is kind and the food is prepared quickly. The brisket is well-cooked, but gets lost underneath a ladle of warm sauce. The egg salad-type cole slaw is a little awkward and I'd recommend coughing up $2 to switch this side. The pickles are more similar to cucumbers dunked in vinegar, but still a nice refresher. The hush puppies on top are decent, but it makes the plate a little crowded. Cheers!

So being new to the area I wanted to check out the local bbq joints and Googled for some suggestions and found this place. I ordered a bbq sandwich and a regular ice tea. The service was friendly and quick. That being said, it was down hill from there. First off, the bbq was dry and had no flavor. I've been smoking meat since my 20's (I'm 41 now..) and I've made better pulled pork dishes than these folks. Aside from that, their regular tea was a small cup and the price I paid for the tea and the sandwich was ridiculous! Over $15! Smithfield BBQ definitely does a better job and doesn't charge out the ying yang. Definitely recommend you look elsewhere for some good bbq, cuz this place isn't it!

Family of 4 ate for $70.00. Smoked chicken good - different - love their vinegar sauce - coleslaw was yellow - fresh - tasty - no Mustard as I expected - normal. Fries good, sliced fresh cucumbers gently pickled were really good and a lot of them. Food was solid.

Biting into the Carolina Boy BBQ sandwich was a tasty trip to the South--imagine tender pork so well seasoned that practically melts in your mouth, paired with collard greens that taste like a hug from your grandma. And let's not forget the elote corn--it's so good, it could turn a corn skeptic into a corn enthusiast.

This dinner had a full emotional arc…read more Let me start by saying this was one of the best meals I've had in the last 2-3 years. The star of the show in my opinion were the hush puppies and the corn and wild mushroom risotto. There were sooo many different flavors that perfectly complemented each other. I was blown away. And the pig cheek on top was incredible. 500/10. Our server made great recommendations! Then-- chaos and heartbreak ensued in the form of a fire alarm. We were forced to evacuate the restaurant as the fire department arrived , leaving about half our meal on the table. After 30 or so minutes of waiting out in the cold (we were apparently the only guests who hadn't paid out yet) our server came to find us. He asked us if we wanted to just give him our credit card information and he would ring us up later, when the fire department gave them the ok, as he understood not wanting to wait around. It broke our heart to leave our leftovers, but we agreed and went to go get the car. Thankfully we are stubborn.. and optimistic to a fault. And by the third time we circled around the block, the fire truck was pulling away. I ran in and asked if there was any chance our food hadn't been thrown away yet, and it hadn't! The staff was happy we had been able to come back, and they packed everything up for us, even taking the hush puppies off the bill and sneaking in a complimentary piece of key lime pie. I'm so glad we were able to tip our server appropriately for his great service-- and rescue our leftovers. Happy ending. All was well. (And the fire ended up being something innocuous in the unit above the restaurant)

He kept refilling our waters which is a gesture that doesn't go unnoticed. Their menu is quite confusing. They have a hot section, cold section, and "classics" section. I assumed the classics were their mains and the "hot" and "cold" were just appetizers due to the difference in pricing. I opted for the blackened salmon, and my friend got the watermelon salad and tomato plate to share. The wait for food wasn't that long, but once they arrived, they were beautiful. Vibrant, full of color, plates of food that I was dying to dig into. The salmon was a pretty small piece (I was expecting a larger portion) and was on top of black beans and cheese grits. The salmon had a green sauce on top which complemented each aspect of the dish very well. I loved eating a bite of everything together. The tomato plate special was also good, but nothing sensational. It's literally just tomatoes with oil on them, but I guess they tasted fresh. I probably wouldn't come back, but this was a good meal nonetheless.

After the game we went out and went around the different places on campus. At some point we decided that we were hungry. She told me there was a great fried chicken place near by and we ended up at Time-Out. Once we got to the place it was packed. The line was a little scary to look at, but we got to the front very quickly which was very impressive as I only saw 2 workers taking care of the register and putting the orders together. I ended up ordering Combo #2 which is chicken thighs and a side. I ordered mac and cheese as my side. Luckily we were able to find an open booth in the packed restaurant. When it came time to eat, I would say that the portion of the side was pretty generous. The mac and cheese was also really good and was up to my standards. The chicken was nice and crispy, and was very delicious as well. At one point it did feel like it was a little too salty, but I was able to look past that. I asked for some hot sauce on the side and it kicked it up a little and made it even better. For my first time here, I would say that I was very impressed not only with the food but also with the service. This place is open 24/7 which is a huge plus!
