We really like this place. The food was delicious, reservations were easy for us to get. Our server was nice. The decor was really cute. It's a little spendy but good for a special occasion.

I've been here a few times. Came for my husband's birthday. Noted it in the reservation also with a message to the restaurant. Also mentioned it to the host upon seating. Was ensured it wouldn't be overlooked. It was overlooked The food was fine but a little too heavy. The service was mediocre. It was noisy but a busy night.

Lemongrass hanger steak. Even better than it looks. I could've eaten a bowl of the cucumber salad.

Very last minute decision to go to Jujube after a long day at the office, and we live on the other side of town. Better to enjoy some delicious bites and a cocktail than sit in traffic on 40! While I feel it's slightly difficult approach this location, everything after that was amazing. Early dinner on a Monday, got right in on the simple yet lovely outdoor patio. Host was kind, service was great. We started with the short rib goat cheese wontons and they were just right. Salty, sweet, creamy, slight spice to the sauce. Five total in an order. Very generous for a starter. I went all in and got the lemongrass hanger steak. My husband got the beef bulgogi. Both were so yummy! The hanger steak was simple. Perfectly cooked, sea salt, lemon grass (naturally) with a side of peanut sauce and the most amazing cucumber salad I've ever had. As a lover of peanut sauce, I still could've done without it. The steak was great alone. The beer bulgogi was smokey, delicious. We finished with the chocolate mousse with cookie crumbles. It was good, but I honestly enjoyed the main dishes much more. More and more, service is key for me. They were celebrating their 18th anniversary (I think) at jujube this day and I can see why. Just a great, genuine overall delicious experience. I can't wait to return and wait out traffic. I'd also go out of my way to eat there again.

I got a chance to try out Jujube in Chapel Hill. Jujube is a sister restaurant of Juju in Durham and serves up all mouth watering Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. Here is what we got: BBQ Pork Belly Dumplings: These were my favorite. The pork belly was full of flavor. Beef Short Rib & Goat Cheese Wontons : The wontons were nice and crispy. The goat cheese definitely complemented the beef short rib. Brussel Sprouts: You can't go wrong with Brussel Sprouts :) Thai Larb Salad: This was my first time trying Larb. The taste is definitely different and unique. I liked it. Whole Red Snapper: I'm a sucker for whole fish and always order it whenever I see it on a menu. Wasabi Margarita: This was definitely a unique cocktail. You could taste the wasabi along with the tequila. I would order it again. If you enjoy asian flavor then you should definitely check out Jujube

I got a chance to go to Jujube recently for a friend's birthday. We ordered probably way too many appetizers and cocktails (very easy to do). They had lots of options for my husband, who is vegan, so that made ordering super easy. I got the Jujube bolognese, which was delicious, and he ordered the Kung Pao tofu. My only complaint is that I wish they had a few more entrees to choose from on the menu, but everything was really delicious and the staff was able to keep up with our large group constantly ordering more drinks at the table. The ambience is very relaxed and even though the space itself isn't huge, they had no trouble accommodating our group with a reservation. It is a little pricey, (especially when you order every appetizer on the menu) but the food was great so I would definitely come here again.

I didn't get pictures of the ribs or the pork buns because we were starving. However everything was delicious. The cocktails were amazing. Service was also very welcoming and attentive. Our server explained everything think well made delicious recommendations. I tell everyone it's worth the trip to Durham to try. I will be back.

Jujube is kind of a tough restaurant for me to rate. My wife and I enjoyed our experience here. However, all things considered - food, service, ambiance, price point, location, etc. - Jujube is Yelp three stars ("OK") in my book. For Chapel Hill, I think Jujube is a good/fine restaurant and is worth a visit if you're in the area. When it comes to the Triangle though, I'm not sure it's a restaurant I'd go out of my way for. I think my wife liked this place more than me. We've both been to sister restaurant Juju in Durham and liked Juju better, especially me: https://bit.ly/3Cf31CO. Jujube has stood the test of time, having opened in this location in 2005 and persevering through both the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. During our Friday night visit, this place was almost at full capacity and the staff was running at 100% utilization most of the night. This place appears to be popular and there's demand for this kind of food - modern Asian fusion - in Chapel Hill. I booked our reservations using OpenTable. Book your restaurant reservations with OpenTable and earn free points which can be redeemed for various rewards such as hotel and restaurant discounts. I've used my OpenTable points to get Amazon gift cards. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It's got a bit of an upscale feel to it. At night, the spaces were dimly lit. There's a covered and enclosed patio with ceiling fans for warm weather and heat lamps for cold weather. The patio has a small fire pit too. This is a good restaurant to take a date. We were seated in a back section of the dining room along a banquette which I dubbed "couples row." The tables happened to be separated into a bunch of two-tops, so it was one couple after another. It's not uncommon to see an "assembly line" of couples like this at sit-down restaurants, especially on Valentine's Day. Jujube's food menu was fairly streamlined, featuring dumplings ($8 per order), small plates ($8-13 each), "for the table" shareable plates (a bit bigger, $12-15 each), and large plates (entrees, $19-28 each). The drink menu was extensive; full bar with wine, sake, and liquor. Here's what we got: - Craft Cocktails - * Whiskey Sour ($12) - bourbon, cold-press citrus syrup, egg white, Herbes de Provence bitters * Bee Sting ($12) - Suntory ROKU Gin, lemon, honey, lavender * The Dreamer ($12) - Tenjaku whisky, Sombra Mezcal, Jujube's pineapple cordial, Dolin dry vermouth, soda water - Dumplings, Small Plates, For the Table- * Mushroom & Cabbage Dumplings ($8) * 5-Spice Duck Confit Spring Rolls ($12) - spicy mustard, cucumber * Crispy Chicken ($14) - garlic, pepper, ginger, shallot, orange glaze -Large Plates- * Lemongrass-Grilled Hanger Steak ($28) - cucumber salad, peanut sauce, cilantro * Pan-Seared Filet of Salmon ($28) - green curry, sweet potato, spinach, scallion -Desserts- * Chocolate Mousse ($11) - dark & milk chocolate, chocolate crumble * Peanut Butter Pot de Creme ($11) - chocolate, sour cream In general, we enjoyed all the food and drink. Our favorite dishes - and what I recommend - were/are the Mushroom & Cabbage Dumplings, 5-Spice Duck Confit Spring Rolls, Lemongrass-Grilled Hanger Steak, Pan-Seared Filet of Salmon, Chocolate Mousse, and Peanut Butter Pot de Creme. The one dish we weren't huge fans of was the Crispy Chicken. It looked great, but it tasted like a slightly-modified version of any run-of-the-mill Chinese takeout joint's orange chicken, just fancied-up for a finer-dining restaurant. We actually ordered this one because the pictures of it looked good on Yelp. We liked the Mushroom & Cabbage Dumplings. Jujube's dumplings are served four to an order. The dumplings were shaped like large wontons and they were steamed. We were impressed with the dumpling skin texture. It was very appetizing, and the dumplings overall were just delicious. The 5-Spice Duck Confit Spring Rolls were yummy as well. They were crispy and savory; very flavorful. The chef suggested the Lemongrass-Grilled Hanger Steak cooked medium rare and that's how I prefer my steaks. The steak came out medium, but it was fine. I thought the quality of the meat was good and the peanut sauce pairing was... unique. My wife loved the Pan-Seared Filet of Salmon. Consistency-wise, she thought it was cooked perfectly. I'd say the texture was about an eight out of 10. Good, but not great, which is my general opinion about the food here. The desserts were good. I think we both preferred the Chocolate Mousse over the Peanut Butter Pot de Creme, but both were satisfying. Smooth, sweet, creamy, wispy, and decent quality, but also relatively simple. As for the cocktails, I thought the Whiskey Sour and The Dreamer were good and refreshing, especially the latter. I didn't like the Bee Sting, which tasted like artificial, overly sweet, lemon candy to me. My wife liked it enough to finish it. Service by Eric A was excellent. Eric was outstanding; very nice. Despite a busy night, all of our orders came out fast.

Wonderful appetizers, but entrees are a little disappointing. Reasonable portion for a nicer asian restaurant. Good ambience and very friendly & attentive service. Would come back to try different things, especially because of the lovely staff!

Really nice ambiance, and amazing service. Our server, Chris, was super attentive, answered every question, and made sure there were no delays! The kitchen also worked very fast, and it seemed like there was never any downtime. The food was good, we shared three plates between two people. At the price point however, I think the food pay have been a little too expensive. I highly reccomend the octopus tart one and the crispy cauliflower. Cocktails were good too, but we felt like they lacked a real defining flavor. Overall good, would come back for the ambiance and the service!

I thought it was good but not great. My daughter and I started by sharing three small plates. Small is not completely accurate, all of them were quite robust and we ended up with a lot of food. The best of the three was the wontons with short rib and cheese. Five large wontons, fried well and the meat was tasty. The kale salad was mixed. I personally liked the candied pistachios (they tasted like pistachio ice cream), others at our table not as much. It was a little greasy for a salad and also almost as if they couldn't decide between traditional kale and crispy kale, kind of the worst of both worlds. I liked the cauliflower starter but it was quite sweet. For a main, I had the hangar steak with cucumber salad. Again, a nice sized portion and the steak was cooked exactly like I asked (medium rare), though I found the peanut sauce a little tasteless. Overall a good meal with caveats.

We ordered the beef "burrito," which is beef wrapped in a scallion pancake, with Peking duck sauce, the General Tsaos chicken, and noodles with scallion oil. We added on a soup and the cucumber salad to get the discount and it honestly was amazing. Everything had so much flavor and there was so much we wanted to try! The only thing was that the noodles were a little bland and clumped together but I was able to doctor them up, and I wish the beef appetizer came with a dipping sauce. Overall though, I cannot wait to order again and this might be our next date night. Definitely a hidden gem in Chapel Hill!

Our original plan was to get 1 Braised Beef Noodle Soup and 1 Beef Filet & Tripe that we'd both share, but we only got half of that plan fulfilled this time. The waiter said that they are out of the tripe appetizer, which we enjoyed in our first visit few months ago. So we were really disappointed that they were out of their best appetizer. Wheat is a small indoor restaurant in downtown Chapel Hill, on the same spot as where another bad Chinese restaurant used to be. Its cramped space and uninviting ambiance make Wheat an unpleasant spot to eat. It took around 15 min. for us to get our 1 order of Braised Beef Noodle Soup, which tasted the same as we remembered when we first tried it. It comes with about 4 chunks of braised beef, 1 egg. 1 baby bokchoy, and noodles in spicy & sour soup with chili oil. $14+ for a beef noodle dish like this is not bad but I can think of other restaurants in Triangle NC that serve a similar beef noodle soup with better ambiance and customer service. Overall Score: 2.4/5
