OPERATING ILLEGALLY! NO INSURANCE, NO TRANSIT LICENSE, NO BUSINESS LICENSE, REVOKED! STAY AWAY!!! EXTORTION. NEGLIGENCE. FRAUD. THEFT. I'm sharing my personal nightmare experience with Mindful Movers and Christopher "Levi" Miller. He held my belongings hostage, demanded DOUBLE the agreed price, and caused over $10,000 in property damage. I'm a repeat customer and respected professional. What happened was unconscionable. The Timeline: - On Aug 27, Levi quoted $2,089.89 for 3 movers, 2 stops, shrink wrap, and dollies. - On Aug 30, I paid $1,000 via Zelle. - Over the next weeks, I had to chase him down for updates, receipts, and revised docs. Very unprofessional. The move was set for Sat, Sept 27, 2025. Levi said the team would arrive by 8:00am. They showed up almost an hour late with no shrink wrap or dollies -- both listed in our contract. Levi left the site to buy supplies on my time! His crew: Isaiah was excellent. Axel and Matthew were not. Constantly on their phones, disengaged, and careless. At 11:36am, Levi asked me to buy the crew lunch. I spent $97 -- not my responsibility, yet I did it. The team dragged the job out, carrying things one at a time, which ate up time and increased cost. At 2:15pm, I told Levi we had to leave for LA -- my storage unit closed at 6:00pm. He yelled at me, then left the job site. They arrived late at the storage unit (6:05pm). I was fortunate the manager let us unload. We then went to my apartment, but the crew missed the entrance AGAIN, causing more delay. We arrived at 7:12pm. I showed them the unit. The security manager gave us until 9:00pm to finish -- or 10:00pm if quiet. Then the extortion began. At 7:35pm, Levi sent a message demanding $4,139.99 upfront -- double the original quote -- and told the crew to stop working until I paid. He would only accept Zelle or CashApp. My Zelle wasn't working. He refused Venmo, credit cards, or any other form of payment. My sister and son scrambled to help. They split the total to pay $3,000. Turns out, both payments went through, and Levi pocketed an EXTRA $3,000 -- totaling $7,139.99. He has not returned the money. Only then did the crew resume... if you can call it that. They dumped everything randomly, refused to reassemble furniture, and my entire family -- including my 87-year-old father -- had to help unload. My studio desk ($700), sectional couch ($1,000), coffee table ($600), VIBE Board ($4,000), mattress ($1,300), and dresser ($1,000) were all damaged. Scratches, cracks, dents, missing parts -- over $10,000 in damages. After getting paid, the crew stopped caring entirely. Axel threw boxes from the truck. Axel and Matthew dragged furniture and made a game out of the move. They were loud, rude, and disrespectful. This behavior comes from leadership. Levi is manipulative, greedy, and dishonest. He abandoned the job, extorted me, and made my family clean up his mess. I hired Mindful Movers again because of prior good experiences -- but Levi was never directly involved before. Once he was, everything changed. If this saves even one person from trusting Levi and going through what I went through, it's worth it. Do NOT hire Mindful Movers. I would recommend calling another company. Positives: they adjusted to an issue with Uhaul's storage company. The two movers who came to help were communicative, quick, and friendly. They dinged a couple spots in a narrower doorway, but nothing terrible. Negatives: The owner. Given the adjustment, I was told there would be an additional cost, which then inflated to a completely different number upon completion. He charged my card without sending an invoice, notification, or breakdown. When I asked about the size of the charge, he immediately got defensive, told me any issues were my responsibility, and that he "records all of his customer calls" in an effort to what -- dissuade me from suing him? Essentially, he was asked a simple question, and went from friendly to unprofessional/rude/combative in 60 seconds flat. He said he'd "resend" the invoice. It was never sent in the first place, so his use of the word "resend" was not only patronizing, it was also false. While the movers were fine (and were tipped well mind you), the owner failed miserably at professionalism, maturity, communication and customer service. I'd suggest looking elsewhere so you don't have to deal with that during what is already a stressful time given the nature of moving. EDIT: Please note his response to other reviews as well as this one. Condescending, false information to protect himself, and yet again -- defensive. Not to mention he calls people mentally ill, hoarders, etc. Unreal. Do your research before hiring movers -- simply look at his responses to negative reviews here, on Yelp, on BBB, or elsewhere. Update 2: Unbelievable now I have to defend myself when I've paid $2300 for poor moving services.I documented the sq ft of my home all the my appliances including my furniture and gym equipment that needed to be moved and spoke with Sarah the day expressing my concern about how many things I had they said don't worry we will take care of you (please note I spoke with two other movers who suggested I needed 2 moving trucks and 5 guys to move) I expected Mindful Movers would come with 2 trucks and 5 guys based on the info.They showed up with 1 truck 2 adults and a minor. I brought this up with Levi and he claimed to have the parents permission. As far as my house being a mess yes of course it's going to be a mess I'm moving hello and it's 2800 sq ft. I'm from the UK so the word sorry is literally used in every single sentence for everything it's a general term used. As far as Levi suggesting "I'm not ready" I hired them on the basis of full service meaning they pack my items for me, regardless I packed a lot of things myself. In reference to him saying every room was barricaded with trash that was untrue, I had donation clothes that we are placed in trash bags to go to Goodwill that were also labeled and he was informed of that. Levi responding online in such a derogatory way is very offensive and Malicious. I did a walk-through with Levi throughout my whole house and told him what needed to go to the house and what needed to stay because I was donating items and take some sensitive things in my car, such as my wine. They packed 10 cases of my 2014 private selection wine from my vineyard into the truck that was not supposed to go there and when I asked him where is my wine? his minor worker said it was put in the truck beyond being able to pull out because they already packed it up so I have Lost $2000 worth of wine. I spoke with Levi at the end of the 1st day because he wasn't taking ownership in regards to calculating what was needed based on the sq ft to move.I also delayed getting my house cleaned and carpets cleaned another day because he told me he would get everything completed on the 2nd day yet that didn't happen. I had to hire a 2nd set of movers last minute and rent a U-Haul truck to move the basic items that weren't moved eg; washer dryer, treadmill my clothes etc, after I posted my review Levi sends me numerous absurd text msg's which has me freaked knowing where I live this is beyond psychotic behavior in my opinion to a google review for a company doing a poor job of moving I haven't even asked for my money back, unbelievable!!! Update1: I hardly write bad reviews, this is the 2nd time I have written a bad review in my entire life; and it grieves me to do so, however, I anticipated getting moved in one day especially since I gave them all the information regarding the size of the house and what needed to be moved. I was worried because of the amount of things I had and I was reassured that they would take care of everything. Not only did they fail to do this, they took two days to not even move everything into our new house. They bailed last minute saying they had another job and I had to hire emergency movers to finish what they started just get the rest of my items out of old house. Granted they texted me two days later to finish what they started however, the trust is gone and over $2000 later I can't justify having to pay them more to finish what they failed to do. I wrote the original review on the first day before everything was completed, and I wish I had waited until the job was finished, however they didn't even finish. They packed my cases of wine in the truck that shouldn't have been in there along with other items that have been damaged because they didn't pack and wrap it properly. They were extremely respectful with all the obstacles: a steep narrow driveway, an aggressive ramp, then a flight of stairs, and it was a vey hot day. Here are the main reasons for my warning to everyone to please avoid using Mindful Movers North County: 1) The three-person crew took eight hours to move only two-thirds of the contents in a three-bedroom home. Why? Because they moved like snails, as if they were intentionally doing so. I had packed everything and even wrapped the contents in plastic, so all the crew members had to do was lift and transport to their truck. ... Also, the trip from my home to the storage site was only six miles, so there was no excuse for the crew doing so little in eight hours. 2) The crew's truck broke down (see two photos attached to this review). They asked for my family to give a jump, which we did. 3) One of the movers dropped a dining-table chair of high quality. The company's owner said per California law, he would reimburse for the damage by the item's weight. That resulted in a credit of $3. Yes, a mere three dollars! 4) The owner was rude when I called to complain about the crew's crawling speed of work. When I asked why he was shouting at me, he replied that it's customary for him to talk that way due to his military background. 5) I made the mistake of looking at the false reviews on Google. This will be my fourth time hiring Mindful Movers...three times for my business and then for my own personal home as well. Full Disclaimer: I am picky, OCD with my possessions and at times described as hard to please...but the moving crew that Mindful Movers has established met my expectations so much in fact, I hired them to pack my 5 bedroom home and moved my family and I to San Francisco...I was like a helicopter Mom watching as all of my favorite items in the home were disassembled, wrapped and handled with care. My grand piano did not have one scratch, my 180lb salt water tank was in perfect condition and my husband's toys were all neatly packed with respect. They even organized my storage unit !! Mindful Movers hires a company that manipulates reviews by creating fake reviews and has negative reviews removed. Check their reviews there. They're from users with reviews from all from all over the world without a centralized location for any of the ones that I checked. (outside of bangalore) They also have regular overlaps in random hotels (that pay the same company to manipulate their reviews). These reviews are from a company based out of india (Bangalore) that gives business fake reviews for cash. Now for my story. Contacted Levi to get a quote on moving a condo. Levi insisted I send him all my personal info (including exact address) before he would discuss it with me. When I did he never responded. After days I asked if I should give him a 1 star review for the poor communication. Dude went haywire. He called me multiple times with me declining calls. Said he was recording the conversations when I finally talked to him so he'd stop (which is illegal in California without my permission). Then he said I threatened him (i threatened to give him a 1 star review. Then he really earned it). I don't know how this guy packs boxes because i clearly didn't use him. What I do know is I wouldn't want someone like this in my house, around my family or belongings. I also know every single review i checked was dishonest, and again, I wouldn't trust someone who would use dishonesty to promote their business reputation around my family, in my house, or around my valuables. Levi and his team just restored our faith in the moving industry! The crew we worked with on our move were all fantastic. They have great attitudes, are incredibly hard working and extremely professional. They wrap, pack, load and unload with speed, care and common sense. We have a lot of stuff and at no point did their enthusiasm or energy wane. Great communication throughout each day of the move so we knew what was happening when and what to expect with the billing. Moving is hard work and stressful for everyone involved and this move went about as smoothly as a move can. We would hire them again without any hesitation. Mindful Movers did a great job. We have very heavy furniture including two (two!) concrete tables and they were able to move everything in 6 hours. They were good with our pup who can be a little barky and mindful of the cat sequestered in a bedroom so she wouldn't escape. I am a disabled senior and found I needed help to remove items from my storage to my apartment in preparation for moving cross country. Two guys came out and were very fast but clumsy, and not careful in handling client possessions and didn't ask before touching fragile items. In addition, the one guy went into my bedroom (without my being present with him) to take down a quilt rack from the wall. Below it was an antique composite doll of 73 yrs old, which was bumped into the wall damaging it. Also, I had a 14k gold, square opal, channel set w pink tourmaline stones, and a pair of 14k gold & dark pink tourmaline stone earrings which disappeared off the dresser. I wasn't sure until after the move as I wanted to double check that it didn't fall into a box and was packed. I didn't see him take it, but I'll leave the conclusion to you.
