First insight to the process. I worked with Madi to coordinate the move. We did a virtual call so he could review the inventory to create the quote. This is my fourth time using movers and this was the most seamless. He sent the quote with the initial estimate. Moving on to the actual move. The communication from the team was great. I received a call from Ivan letting me the arrival eta. The team ( Ivan, Diego, and Arthur) was amazing, they were friendly, professional and worked fast while being respectful of my items. Update: I was contacted by Madi, our original estimator who said that I was charged in error for the bulk item fee and for extra drive time. He spoke to the mover who was assigned to our project and corrected him. I appreciated his attitude and willingness to make it right. He said it was not their company's practice to add last minute charges but sometimes a few of their moving guys act on their own accord to add charges. He apologized and refunded me and offered to refund the tip as well (which I elected not to do). ----------------------------------- We used this company after getting quoted in advance using a video meeting with Mark. We were moving within the same zip code (2 miles away) and their quote was reasonable and similar to others. They were willing to send 3 guys which some companies won't do (they only send 2 or 4 so they can partner up). This company seems to use a bid low and then bait and switch strategy. The movers were in the middle of the moving an empty 8 drawer dresser and the lead guy decided it was heavy. After they moved it, he came to me and told me there would be a bulky item charge of $150 for this item. I asked what defined a bulky item and he said it was just very heavy and said they had to take it down the steps (all of which were discussed in advance and even listed out in our contract). During the quote, I was told by this company and others that same zip code quotes (we moved 3 miles approx 12 min driving on the day of the move) would not have double drive time added to the quote, but at the end the moving team insisted this was not the case if they drove more than 15 min. He insisted he would have to charge me double for drive time (rounded up first and then doubled). I think he kept the drive timer running to get over 15' min then they claimed they have to double the drive time. They rounded 16 min up to 30 min and then doubled it so I was charged for 60 min of drive time when in fact it was 12 or so. He said it was in the terms and conditions which he had me sign on his iPhone at the beginning of the move without giving me the chance to read any of the text. At the end of the move I just wanted to be done with it, so I didn't argue too much, but the fact that they essentially added $500 or so of various extras was pretty infuriating. The driver then insisted that I should tip them. We have moved 3 times within San Diego in the last 10 years, so I have some point of comparison and I would look elsewhere. If you choose this company, make sure you account for a couple hundred extra to the quote since they will find a way to do that. The service was decent. The guys worked decently hard but not particularly fast. They were not super careful when wrapping and moving, but nothing got majorly damaged. We did end up with some wall nicks in our brand new place. read more

We walked through the entire place and Sam asked if I would like anything specially wrapped in plastic to ensure the items do not get damaged. We went over the terms of agreement and they got started. They moved a 2 bedroom apartment from Imperial Beach to Chula Vista in one trip. Very well organized and efficient. Everything with this company was easy as could be from the initial reservation, the TWO times I had to reschedule, the lovely young gentlemen that came to move my belongings, down to the the phone call the day after to make sure everything went well. This was the second company I hired for my partial condo move. The first one only had a 26 foot truck and no other options. I found this out only a few days before we were supposed to move the first time. We were only moving half of our belongings! I told them when I made the reservation. So I went on yelp and found Sunshine Movers. They had good ratings and reviews. They are awesome! Great communication and so nice and understanding when I had to reschedule twice. I had to get mover quickly when I got a call from Upack that our container had arrived in SD and we had 2 days to get our stuff out of the terminal at the 92121 ABF location. I was feeling a little stressed and came to yelp to get mover quotes from multiple movers. I ended up picking Sunshine Moving and was so grateful they were able to accommodate a next day move for a very reasonable price and they did a great job for us. The movers showed up early at the ABF location. I was so happy to see them as we were already there. They helped us unload the items from the container to their truck and then drove to our place. They did a great job and were very careful with our items. There is a 3 hour minimum but they were done well before then since we opted to do the unpacking of the boxes ourselves. They did help us bring the heavy items up the stairs and placed them in the location we requested. I would definitely use them again for our next move. read more

While my original experience with how the storage unit was packed was frustrating, the owner followed up, took responsibility, and sent a team back out to reorganize everything at no additional cost. The second team, Erkosh, Diego, and Rocky did a much better job organizing the unit, creating a walkway, properly placing furniture, and taking extra care with wrapping and securing items. In addition, the company offered a partial refund to make up for the inconvenience, which I appreciate. Overall, while the initial experience wasn't ideal, I do value the effort made to correct it and the level of customer service shown in resolving the issue. ---------------------- UPDATE: After posting my original review, the company reached out to me directly almost immediately and offered to come back and reorganize my storage unit at no additional cost. I do appreciate that they took responsibility and are working to resolve the situation. I will update this review again after the reorganization is completed to reflect the final outcome and overall experience with their customer service and follow-through. ---------------------------------------- I had a very disappointing experience with this moving service, especially considering the cost. For approximately $650 for about 3 hours of work, I expected a reasonable level of care, organization, and professionalism. While the team did move my belongings into the storage unit, the way everything was packed showed a clear lack of attention to detail. Large, fragile items like my flat-screen TVs were placed directly at the unit's entrance, making them vulnerable to damage. Boxes were stacked without any clear organization; many were turned around so that labels were not visible; and items were not arranged stably or logically. Several belongings I specifically wanted to keep accessible are now buried and difficult to reach. Additionally, some items were packed into boxes by the movers without any labels or indication of what was inside, making it even more difficult to locate essential items. Trash -- including food waste -- was also left behind in my cart, which created a strong odor and is completely unacceptable in a storage environment. I had communicated ahead of time that I was not feeling well, and I was reassured that the team would take care of everything so I wouldn't have to worry. I did briefly step away to get cash for payment and ensure nothing was left behind at the apartment, and when I returned, the truck had already been fully unloaded and packed into the unit. Despite this, I had provided clear instructions on how certain items (especially electronics) should be handled and stored, but they were not followed. I am only now able to fully assess the condition of the unit after recovering from illness, and the issues with how everything was packed are still clearly evident. Even without constant supervision, I expected a basic level of professionalism. Instead, the packing felt rushed and careless, and I now have to go back and reorganize the unit myself. Pricing was detailed so no surprise charges or fees. The day of the move, movers texted me ETA, etc. Packed my parents items very carefully. I moved out of my 2bed into a 1bed from Mira Mesa to Clairemont and it was my first time using movers. Gotta say, it was totally worth it. I lived at my last place for 4 years and have accumulated a lot of things over the years (including furniture) that I wasn't prepared or willing to move myself. Chris and Michael showed up early to set up the truck and was helpful. They packed up so many things that I didn't even know was possible to get packed (including my 48" squishmellow hah). The moving process was much easier and less backbreaking with them packing/moving things than me doing it myself. Only reason I deducted a star is because the estimated moving time was 3 hours but the move ended up being closer to 5 hours instead. I paid in cash to save some money but ended up being $60 short because of the over time. Overall, 10/10 would hire movers again. I'm too old to move all these big furniture and boxes by myself with friends. read more

From the very beginning Sunshine was very professional and courteous. I liked they fact that the owner took time to call me and walk through what I needed and from their experience in moving knew exactly what I would need to make the move that I required. We just had Sunshine moving move two beds and a couch and a recliner (just some of the bigger items amongst other furniture that was moved) from my in laws two story home to an ADU on our property. Sunshine moving contacted me immediately with a quote over the phone and sent the quote through email too, they were very efficient in organizing and scheduling our move. i Hired this company to move me. They came on a Saturday, and started moving my belongings.when the truck was loaded they went back inside and noticed that the valve for the icemaker was dripping and attempted to shut it off. When I came the next day, kitchen and the bedroom behind the kitchen were both flooded. I had to pay over $5,000 to have walls and carpet taken out and repaired. I asked them to help me on for it, but they refused, saying that it wasn't their fault. Please don't use this company, they are crooks! they also had young men that didn't know how to pack. read more

CALL THEM FIRST! I had the best experience with Madi and the Sunshine Movers team. I had to use them for moving a ton of potted plants from one house to another and then again to move furniture. They took great care in moving everything and the pots from the plants and plants themselves came over without a hitch! The furniture was so well packed that there was not even a single casualty! I had a terrible experience calling other companies, terrible customer service and overall I was getting so frustrated. When I called Sunshine Movers I was stunned at how quickly they got back to me and how fast I got a quote. *note: as a rule from my experience, you should always add a couple more hours than what is quoted to you. Never is the time less and if you add the coupe extra hours on your estimate you will be prepared for it. * Don't forget to tip your movers. They work really hard on your move and the service of their hard work deserves a good tip if they did a good job. Water and snacks is appreciated too! Call them first!
