They might want to consider a better system. I waitressed in college. The table tap is critical. On the contrary, I had to initiate contact not once (to establish my presence), not twice (went back in to get menus and let them know exactly where I was sitting), but three times (had to wave someone down). Such a cute spot! We were in town for Fourth of July weekend, loved Milligram so much, we went twice! My boyfriend got the cappuccino; he said it was one of the best cappuccinos he's had in awhile! He also said the blueberry muffin was good. I got the Matcha w/ oat milk and honey. Perfect level of sweetness and the taste of the matcha was perfect. The Dirty Chai w/ oat milk was great, too. Hidden on the bustling area of downtown Costa Mesa is the new European-inspired cafe called Milligram! If you're looking for Milligram, it's hidden behind Greenleaf. There's some parking behind the building, but they've sadly blocked off most of the area to valet. The service is fine but it is rather unusual - if you're dining in, they ask you to grab a table first and then someone should come to take your order. If you order to-go, they'll take your order in the front. We sat down at the bar and it took a really long time for anyone to come take our order. I will add that when we did got our order taken, it was prompt and quick. The coffee was good. We ordered a honey latte and a vanilla latte but I guess she misheard us because we ended up with two vanilla lattes. The shop's main draw is its ambience and atmosphere. They have a modern interior - it invokes a sophisticated feel. If you get to sit in the patio, it also has this natural vibe too. Go if you need a place to chill, or get some work done. I sat down at 1120 today It was empty maybe three tables of people dining in. She came by and I said we just need a few mins for the drink menu. I'm my mind I'm thinking about 4 mins, I waited 25 mins and got up myself to request to order. She finally gets our order and I didn't get my food until 1240. Really glad we found this hidden gem of a restaurant. Delicious and great looking food with a gorgeous seating area. I can totally see myself coming here all the time for the chill and scenic vibes. When we walked up, the scent of garlic and goodness wafting through the air and kind of drew us in. I've been following them on IG for about a year and meaning to visit but wasn't across town too often. This was the perfect breakfast spot with lots of happy looking customer and a really cool vibe. Very relaxing, and seemed like a lot of interesting and creative conversations going on. It's a good spot for a business over coffee meeting, a breakfast date, or remote worker looking to get out of the house. Loveee the ambiance at Milligram! Just kind of tucked away even tho it's technically in the heart of Costa Mesa. Patio out back has Laguna Beach vibes with the trees that give diners some shade while they're brunching. My boyfriend absolutely loves the MG breakfast ciabatta and my fav has become the smashed avo toast with the egg over easy. Just super fresh ingredients and flavors that leave you feeling perfectly nourished and not overly stuffed. Also... best part is the Common Room Roasters coffee. The coffee shop moved to Long Beach so we can't get those beans these days. Made us really ecstatic to see that they sell them (and use them!) here. The absolute best roastery around I don't think it's worth reducing stars for this, but callout that service during high traffic times can be a tad slower - but honestly, we haven't been able to resist this place for all the other great things. Found this dog friendly gem in Costa Mesa. Nice quaint patio. Parking was a bit of a challenge because there was a Farmers Market the day we went. We parked further away on the street and walked over. Lots of varieties in the menu. I wanted to try the basil tomato soup but they ran out of it. I settled for the salmon bagel. Very generous with salmon with fresh chopped dill and cream cheese made it very tasty. I had a hot matcha drink which was not as hot as I would want it but warm enough to drink right away. So disappointed. This was my third visit to Milligram coffee. My prior to visits were average. The ambience is great and that's what keeps me coming back. I really enjoy dining outdoors. Food and drinks pretty good as well. But, today the service was absolutely horrible! I had to wait almost 30 minutes for a flatbread pizza. Then, nobody checks on you to see if you're doing OK and would like another drink or anything. They call it "full service" which it clearly is not. I had to go to the front cashier to ask for a box for the remainder of my meal to go and to pay for my drink. When I walked in to ask for the box, there were two employees polishing wine glasses and silverware. The employees are very young which I understand and I think it's great that they're giving them opportunity. But, not sure if they haven't had proper training on customer service or not. This was extremely discouraging today. I live locally and would have liked to make this a frequent spot, but unfortunately due to the extremely bad service I will not be doing so. read more
