I have had my car repaired by this location multiple times. This is the rare kind of mechanic that will actually tell you when your car DOESN'T have a problem; no upsell, no crap about your air filters or whatever else. As for price, they seem reasonable. I've come here after receiving exorbitant estimates from other locations and received service at a much more affordable price. I've done business w/Mill Street tires for years...but, as the saying goes: "Trust takes years to earn, but only moments to destroy." My last 2 visits were filled with deceit. I purchased a set of 4 tires & was told at the time (2020) that I would receive free flat repair & free tire rotation for the life of the tires. Pretty standard stuff for a tire store & I'd received such promises & services from the store for years. COVID changed the world. 2 visits ago I took in my car for an alignment. I told them it was out of alignment. They put the car up on the rack, told me it was out of alignment, but would have to be taken to the dealership for the service & charged me $45 to tell me it was out of alignment. (I had told them that, remember?) OK-no sweat; I'd just get my free rotation for the life of these tires & never darken their door again. Made the appointment yesterday & was told that for about the last year, they no longer provided this service. I told them that the tires were installed before this change in policy. Told by MST rep "ok, we'll just bring it in under that arrangement.' Bah, Humbug...they charged me $25 for the rotation & smiled. Words said seem to mean nothing in today's world. Get it in writing. I called all over Reno looking for someone to do an alignment while I was in town from 4 hours away. Not only did they get me in but when I arrived I had another small issue come up with my car. They nothing said no worries we can fix that too. The lady at the front desk was exceptional!! She offered to call a taxi or a rental company so I could still get my stuff done while in town when they had my car. And when I went to pick up my car the mechanic was honest and detailed in his explanation of repairs. the price was outstanding. Now my husband is a mechanic so I know a few things about cars. so when I take my stuff to other people which is rare they normally start off treating me with the typical girl don't know shit let's rip her off talk but these guys did not!! They treated me like a human with decency and respect and explained everything to me. I would highly recommend these guys. read more

Alright, I'm going to be very thorough in this review, so please bare with me; because at this point, Mill Street Tire and Automotive doesn't deserve anything less. I've been taking my car here, an 07 Subaru outback for as long as I've had it, and before that, a 2000 Ford. Up until about a week ago, I've experienced nothing but excellence, great prices, and outstanding customer service from all the staff. I would bring my car, and trust it to these people every single time. However; when I brought my car in for a busted power steering fluid pump, there was a bit of an episode. First thing was; they came to me and said that they'd fill it with dye, and have me drive it around a few days and bring it back so they can see where the leaks are. I told them I couldn't do that, and I need to be on the road that night. Long story short, I had to replace the pump, and a few other parts to the vehicle that would run up a hefty price. I agreed to it, and after that point, Mill Street Tire went above and beyond to do the very best they could in such a short amount of time. They had everything done in a few hours, and I was on my merry way. However; 1000 some odd miles and 3 days later later, I started experiencing troubles with my power steering again. I looked under the hood, and there were still a few leaks in the tubes, and under the pump. I called back; a little peeved, and explained my situation. Mill street was VERY courteous about it. Instead of passing me off and saying it's not their problem, which they easily could've since there was no chance of me getting back to them, they went above and beyond, and paid for my car to be serviced 100% in a local shop. My car is running very smoothly now; and I have no complaints whatsoever. If you want very quick, affordable, professional, and all around kind care for you and your car, I highly recommend Mill Street to anyone living in or visiting Reno Nevada. read more

Well, they'd better have great service because their tire prices are terrible. $144 for a tire that other places around town sell for $108 to $112. Assuming, for their benefit, that is a mounted and balanced price, which they did not say (and I didn't think to ask) it's still more than other local stores. read more

What happened, this place was wonderful, now not even close to the mark! Took my vehicle in for a oil change Tire balance and rotation And smog. Dropped it off in the early morning, got the call it was ready, went to pick it up and paid .. walked out and.. No rotation, how can I tell, if your going to fake it at least wipe off the brake dust! Broken hood release, I noticed this because the kick panel was not replaced just laid up next to it. And yes oily greasy hand prints on all the fenders. Oh I also found the cap to the oil container next to the oil that was spilt on the grill cover. Trust me the sloppiest oil change I have ever had and yes I will be checking my fluid levels myself. I've used Mill Street Tire several times in the past for oil changes and a few alignments, never any real major repair work. They did a really good job addressing any maintenance questions that I had, plus also noted a few minor repairs that needed to be addressed in the near future. I never felt cheated or misled by their information in any way, instead I appreciated their honesty and fairness very much. Their location is a bit hidden along Mill Street (fairly close to Mr. Pickle Sandwich Shop), however I was impressed with the quality of their work and their honesty and friendly demeanor. My experience here was a convergence of circumstances... I drove to Tahoe from San Jose in February and blew out a tire on the way. Mill Street Tire was the only store in the entire area that had the size tire I needed. While I was making my way down the mountain from Tahoe to Reno I hit some ice and wrecked the front of my car. To make a long story short when I finally made it to Mill Street Tire the guys there definitely saw that my car wouldn't make it all the way back to San Jose in the condition that it was in so they made a few adjustments to make it driveable again and only charged me for the tire that I originally came in for. I might not ever get back there being that I live in San Jose but I hope someone finds this review helpful and gives them a chance. (By the way, the tire they had in stock was an odd size, one I've had a lot of trouble getting in the past without special ordering). read more

Don't bother! Took my tire in to be mounted and was told when it would be done. Came back and it was right where I left it. Asked why and he said they were too busy! Then he told me if I don't like it I could go somewhere else! I did! Had it mounted within 20 minutes. I guess they don't need customers. They won't have me anymore and ill spread the word. I just bought used a sporty car but got a good price on it because the tires were getting old. I went to a couple of places in town, the chains like Tires Plus, which quoted me outrageous prices and then I found Mill Street Tire. They quoted me much lower prices for the same thing. I was able to go in the same day and get the tires all replaced while only waiting about an hour. The tires I got were rated 50,000 miles and were only $400 for 4. Not bad at all. I would recommend. They won't gouge you and they are quick. read more

We were visiting Reno from out of town. I had been noticing my auto brakes making noise so I set up an appointment with Mill Street Tire. They were very close to Grand Sierra Resort and I could walk back. They took it in the same day, had an estimate an hour later and replaced all four rotors and disks, which I did need. Shawn was on top of everything and easy to reach.Two back rotors had to be ordered overnight but they did an excellent job, and the price was in keeping with what I found on the Internet for similar work. i would not recommend Mill Street Tire to any of my friends. I purchased winter tires in the fall and was told to bring my car back at any time to have the winter tires removed and also put back on next fall. I went to Mill St with my receipt for the $700 I spent on tires last winter and told them I was told to bring my car back any time to get the tires changed. After the work had been completed, they I was informed this would not be honored and I had to pay. On top of that I had also asked to have an oil change. The tire change along with the oil change took over 2.5 hrs and I was promised 1.5 hours. I was fine with waiting longer, as I understand issues arise, but I was not informed of why the wait continued to grow and no one seemed to care. Once the work was finally completed, I did not receive any apology from the rep (Juan) and also had to bicker with them to get a free air filter since I waited for so long. All in all, they stress the importance customer service and satisfaction, but that certainly did not shine when I was there. I tried to stay loyal, but will be looking for a new auto service provider for future repairs. read more

I moved to Reno 20 years ago and had a brand new Honda. I think I had a flat and that was my first visit to Mill Street Tire. My last visit was yesterday. As a single woman, I've had all kinds of stunts pulled so was a bit apprehensive. I was working for the County and was told that was where the County got their tires for their vehicles. Through the years, they have given me the BEST service of any type of business in Reno. The manager is Lisa and she is a gem! Agree with the others, she knows what she is talking about. As for the other employees, they also have been very polite, courteous, and make me feel like my car is special. I highly recommend them. They do all my car servicing. read more

I bought tires here a few years ago for my F-250. Recently I had to have a valve stem replaced so I brought the tire in on a Saturday, came back Monday and asked them to put the tire back on, the spare back in the carrier and a rotation. While I expected a wait (was told 30 minutes to get in by the manager) it ended up taking 3 hours. Only the drivers side tires were rotated, the tire that had the valve stem replaced was put on with only 35 psi instead of 60, the tech couldn't figure out how to put the hubcab back on so he just left it off, same for the spare tire, he didn't know where it went so he just left it, and the steering wheel was dirty with grease from his hands. This is not the first time I've had questionable service here but it's the last. read more

My tires were getting very bald and getting quotes around town, everyone was very expensive. Considering I have a small car, I was very unhappy knowing I would have to spend over $450 for 4 tires. I call Mill St Tire and they quoted $330 for their cheapest tire in my size, which I think was about 50k miles. We ended up going for 70K mile all weather tires for about $375. They did ask if I wanted nitrogen fill tires (explained perks like free refills, increased mpg, blah blah blah) to which I kindly replied no thanks and they didnt push it any further. It in no way felt like a high pressure sale. Anyway, they also felt pretty honest since we asked for an alignment and called us later to let us know that only the front needed the alignment and reduced the price they had originally quoted us. I was very happy with the service received and the value as well! I will be going there from now on. read more

These guys were great! We walked in to ask some basic questions about new tires and get some prices on a set (7 total) for our RV. The girl at the counter was knowledgeable, she was able to make several recommendations with the pros and cons of each type of tires. She seemed to care about our needs and timing constraints--we needed the work done same day because we're full-timers. After visiting several other stores around town, we decided to work with these guys because they are a local company, they were able to work with us on a variety of a different levels, and they were the only ones who were able to actually talk to us about several different brands of tires--instead of just recommending. When I called back to make an appointment, I was pleased to find that were able to take us in the same day and have our rig returned to us in a little under 2 hours. They were able to match the price a local big box competitor and I really feel like they went above and beyond. They were able to reuse our dually valve extenders and even though they did have to work on our rig outside of the garage, I honestly was okay with that because I could watch the progress. I would definitely recommend them to anyone passing through town in need to tires--especially if you have a truck or a small RV. read more

Brakes sounded a bit "grindy" on my Honda CR-V, for couple weeks. Wanted to check tread on tires, also, Do lot of mountain driving. Called and spoke to Lisa. Asked if I could bring it in for check today, since I need it tomorrow. She said I could bring it in, in about an hour or so and they would check it all, call me and then do the work today, if needed. I got a call back saying brake pads and tires were all very good and probably a little grit on the rear pads making the sound. Tires were fine also. NO CHARGE and very fast, pleasant service. In a day when a hot dog in a ski area is $17, getting service like this is unheard of. I will definitely bring my car back there for tires, brakes and whatever else it may need, that they can take care of. This kind of service is becoming rare. Highest personal recommendation. read more
