I've been waiting almost an hour for a sandwich and a soup. Just some overpriced hipster cafe.

I pictured myself sitting at a counter with a hot cup of coffee and a fresh donut. Unfortunately, the reality didn't match the photos. The shop itself is a bit dingy and dim, and the counter shown in pictures was blocked with boxes and plastic--no place to sit. I arrived before 11 AM on a Friday and the selection was already pretty picked over. The one worker got swamped when a crowd came in, and the tight space made the whole experience feel rushed. I ordered two donuts (cheap, which was nice), but they were tossed in a bag together with no divider, so the frosting stuck together which made it a pain to get them out of the bag to eat. No napkins were given. Fortunately, I remembered to ask for some. One donut was chocolate with sprinkles, the other had buttercream filling with white frosting. Both were decent, nothing amazing. I tried to sit outside, but the chairs were old and dirty. They looked liked they came from an old elementary school. To top it off, someone came up trying to sell me a "$600" motorcycle helmet for $100. I decided to make a quick exit. If I lived nearby, I might grab a dozen to-go, but it's not worth a special trip. Just average overall.

When he rang up the total it was $28.00 I was kinda surprised and asked if that was the total? He said yes. I know I could have said I didn't want them but I just wanted to have them. Then on my way home I got thinking $4.60 for a jelly filled donut that's just way too much for a donut. Especially after a few days I went to Meijer and bought 6 for $4.99 . Actually the pazki from Meijer were better. You wouldn't think that.I guess you live and learn.

Let me start with; they are in a strip mall, very nice small seating area that was well laid out except for customers getting to and from the counter. That was congested with only 6 customers, can not imagine if the tables were full. Now, the me cover the facts. IF you were hoping for a true donut shop or bakery like Robaires....keep driving. The is more of a college/preppy coffee house that has rolls. Oh Yes I said "ROLLS". Thier "donuts" are basically just the bread/roll style with lots of toppings and/or filling. We each tried a donut roll. Not impressed. Got cinnamon rolls to go for the family. Very bready and dense with lots of frosting. If not for the frosting they would be bland. In my opinion. I will never return. BUT I will say it is a nice spot to get overpriced Live Oak coffee and a sweet roll, if you want frosting.

On a cold December night when we were walking around town it was bliss. We got a dozen to split/take home and when we got our order the bag was piping hot so I was forced to wait a minute which was VERY difficult. Ha. But they were worth the wait. We scarfed down a few right away and saved the rest for later. They actually warmed up really well the next day and were perfect with coffee on the couch on my first Sunday morning of holiday vacation. We also got chocolate, caramel, and cinnamon dipping sauces but honestly I liked them best plain. The cinnamon was my favorite of the three, though. The line was relatively long the Saturday night before Christmas but they had it down and it moved quickly. Both for ordering and getting our food. They also serve up hot cocoa, coffee, gator bites (yes, actual gator), and gumbo if your'e feeling peckish and/or adventurous. But we stuck with dessert and couldn't have been happier.

This time we had friends with us, so we grabbed a dozen, which came in a great deal. We also got multiple dipping sauces - Chocolate, Caramel and strawberry. The beignets were soft, fluffy, and perfectly made. They even added extra powdered sugar in the package, which honestly was almost too much to handle... but sometimes you just have to get a little messy and enjoy it. A sweet tradition for us in Frankenmuth and always worth the stop
