A rustic feel to this open grill restaurant as you walk on in and lineup for your order. Two sides are included with your meal, but those are the only two choices. Preparation is well done, but the straight wooden chairs could be a little more comfortable. Overall the Maple Grille is one of the better choices in an area that is dominated by fast food joints. read more

We read about this place on the internet several years ago and drove by a few times but it was never on our radar screen at mealtime. We made a quick trip to Saginaw on Tuesday and decided to try it out on our way home. What a delightful surprise! Service was very good and the food was delicious. I had a chicken pot pie and my husband had grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and carrots. Too bad that this place is not more convenient for us to visit more often! read more

Heard about the place from friends, so glad we checked it out. It's a perfect outcome if a brewery and farm to table restaurant had a love child. First the brews- had several, and was impressed they had a variety other than ipa's like most places. Usually don't care for fruit beers but ended up taking a growler of the Cranberry Ale home- so good. The food, all delicious. Started with a Buffalo dip appetizer and it was tasty. Also got us a pizza and they brought us sides of baked beans and grilled parsnips. The beans themselves, I would drive across the state for. Probably some of the best I've ever had. The pizza had a great crust and toppings. All in all, a cool, smoky smelling place- reminds me of being up north or down south in the mountains. Will go back, again and again. read more

What an amazing find! The Maple Grille Restaurant and Microbrewery completely blew us away. From the setting to the food to the beers--everything was top-notch. I had a custom pizza that was absolutely delicious, and my wife loved her beef tacos. One of the cooks, Stefan, personally brought our food out to us, which made the experience feel extra special. We even had the chance to talk with him and ask how we could be praying for him--just a really meaningful moment. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Our daughter lives nearby, so we're already looking forward to coming back for many years to come !!! read more

While traveling home this past week, we came across a really special place all the way in Hemlock that I had to share. If you're ever anywhere in the area I highly recommend this place! We originally stopped here bc it's on the Tag-a-Brew trail. But wow... once you step inside you realize you're somewhere very special! The menu is written on a chalkboard because it changes according to what they have available on the farm. While we were eating, we saw them coming back and forth from the garden with fresh kale and other things. They started us off with this delicious corn bread. We ordered a woodfired pizza and it was delicious! I also had a mushroom and smoked chicken soup. They served our meal with potato salad and a kale salad. Everything was fresh and amazing, and I can't wait to go back one day! Everything going past us looked delicious. Great beers as well! read more

Has the smoked cheddar meatloaf stuffed green peppers and the 1/2 pound pepper jam hamburg. Both had a terrific smoke flavor. The thick hamburg had a perfect pink area in the center. All I can say is WOW!!! We loved it here! I will warn you that this place gets very busy! But they have it down to a science! Everyone was super nice despite being so busy! We walked in and sat at the chair rail. After looking through the menu I was drooling over the cheeseburger Pizza. I don't think that would have been his choice, but he likes to make me happy. Lol. This pizza was absolutely delicious. He laughs at me because when I really like something, I am very expressive. Haha. I was clapping my hands between bites. We loved the atmosphere and the. Bridget is terribly hostile and aggressive to her customers for no reason. When questioned about her rude behavior, she gave an insincere apology while smirking. I also overheard her being incredibly rude to another table. She then continued to talk about me to her "friends" at the counter. I did speak with Josh, the owner, about this experience. He told me she's the reason he's selling. Very odd experience. I will not be back. Bridget seems to be a very unhappy person. read more

What a super cool spot! We stopped in on our way up north for Memorial Weekend. We were doing a brewery tour and the Maple Grille was in our passport and had tagabrews. The Maple Grille is a barbecue house with an adorable southern vibe. Walking in the door, the smell was amazing. In my opinion nothing is more comforting than a good southern bbq. We ended up grabbing a few beers and we had to order a burger just to give it a try. The hamburger was delicious and the grilled asparagus served with mashed tatters , amazing! This was our first stop on our tour so we weren't able to hang out but we will most certainly be back. read more

I've heard so many good things and couldn't wait to try Maple Grille! The building was so smokey that my eyes were burning a few minutes after we entered (and are still sore hours later) and maybe that colored my experience, but I just don't think there was anything enjoyable about our dinner. $74 for 3 dinners and sodas. My burger was bland - plain dry bun, pesto mayo and spring mix for $16. The bean side dish would've been heavenly if the beans were fully cooked... but the raw onion was jarring. Our wobbly table and uncomfortable wobbly chairs rounded out an unpleasant dining experience. Everyone seems to enjoy it so much, maybe we'll try it again someday in the hopes tonight was just an off night. read more

Four stars, but a very high four stars. I'm here to say yes, they really do have "many vegetarian options." Well, OK, about 3 if you count the wood fired pizza options as just one. But unusually good for a place with "grille" in the name in the middle of Hemlock, Michigan. They have a house-made veggie burger (fine - sandwiches also come with a scoop of very mayonnaisey potato salad); an eggplant sandwich, or what appeared to be a customizable personal wood-fired pizza. All orders will get you a side of two warm cornbread sticks in a saucer of maple syrup (hmm!). In addition to the alcoholic options, say if you're returning to work, they have multiple varieties of Faygo and house-brewed root beer (fine, but a bit flat; would be lovely in a root beer float, which is also on the menu with local ice cream). Any place that has "cup of fresh blueberries (and they were!) for $3 as a side is OK by me. read more

A coworker recommended this restaurant, we showed up in the early evening on a Saturday and there already was a line out the door. They do things a bit differently in that you order your meal at the counter and pay then they give you a block of wood with a number on it to place on your table. The line went quickly though and we were seated right away. They have a selection of items from local farms etc so the menu changes depending on the season. Right now it is asparagus season so there were lots of asparagus dishes - I ordered asparagus soup in a breadbowl and an Irish red beer. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich with very tender pulled pork and a wonderful maple bbq sauce that was amazing. The place was packed but moving quickly and the servers were prompt - enjoyed the little cornbread appetizers. This establishment has a cool vibe to it and you really enjoy the experience. I have to admit I was lusting after some of the other meals I saw coming out to tables - burgers piled high with goodies etc. so I will have to go back soon. read more

We go here occasionally as it is a long drive, more than 20 miles each way. I've never had a steak but decided to get one because they looked so good when I saw them on the tables around me during previous visits. The ribeye was outstanding, could easily have been a meal for two. Cooked perfectly. We had five entrees, all were excellent. read more

What an absolute hidden gem! I can not say enough good things about our experience! As soon as we walked in it smelt amazing with a wood fire open kitchen so knew we had to order food! It's a farm to table style! We had the chicken salad wrap that had walnuts and cranberries, then came with beans with kale, squash and corn bread that had maple syrup on top! We finished every last bite! Then we shared a flight of beer with the some very delicious beer! I would gladly drive the 2 hours to be able to enjoy another experience here! read more

The Maple Grille was on my "to try" radar for some time, but I was only able to check it out recently. The reason was the hours they are open (we tend to eat late) and the fact that they do not take reservations. Although these were inconveniences, they are ones I completely understand and have no qualms with. Let's start with the food. Everything is locally sourced and delectable; this means menu items may sell out, so take heed! We had the pan seared white fish and duck sausage, both with baked beans and asparagus. 5-stars for both dishes. We also ordered two flights in order to test out all 10 of their brewed beers. Many of them didn't stand out to me, but the IPAs were fabulous. That being said, none were bad, just not ones I would order full pints of. Lastly, the decor/ambiance, which is incredible. I love the old barn style interior and the way everything is organized and decorated. I'm a big fan of open-air kitchens. Some may not be too into the order-sit-wait-eat approach, but I find it very efficient and because of that, no one has to wait long to eat. We found that although the parking lot was packed, there was ample seating indoors as well as places to enjoy your meal outdoors. Truly, this is a wonderful place and I hope to visit again soon! read more

The farm to table food is excellent as is the selection of beer. Our children love getting their own pizzas. The lamb burger is excellent with pesto mayo. Lamb chops were cooked perfectly and so good. I've had pan fried fish and it's fantastic. You really can't go wrong with anything unless you are too late and it's sold out! They grill veggies well whether it's squash, zucchini, or asparagus. The potato salad and baked beans are not your mom's and are unique and flavorful. My wife and I are at the point where sharing bread pudding is difficult because it's so damn good, so we indulge and order one for each of us! read more

I went to have lunch with my mom and had my service animal with me. I stayed in the car while my mom went inside to check their service animal policy. They said we could sit inside or outside. So I go to walk inside & a woman followed me with a high pitched Karen "mam" please go outside we do not allow dogs inside, followed by another man employee shooing me outside. I said he is a service animal my mom just came inside to ask your policy but that's ok we can sit outside. We then sat outside for 10min with no one even coming to bring a menu. 15 minute drive from my house and arguably the best foodie joint in Saginaw County. Everything is sourced locally, the menu is seasonal and constantly changing, and they may run out of items on the menu every evening so come early if you can! They always have pizza from what I understand. When you show up you wait in line and order and pay before you sit down and eat. This creates and encourages dinner to be a communal experience. You may sit and eat with strangers and be open to sharing a table. All their meats are killer. Veggies are fresh. The Brad pudding is one of the best things I've ever had! Come check it out. I will always recommend the maple grille!! They're farm to table, hometown, grade A , better than home cooked kinda place! The maple grille is truly one of a kind. Kid friendly, laid back but elegant. Everything from the pizza, to the steak is AMAZING. Their beer is something you don't find in a rural area. It's great. The staff seems like a family, they all work and communicate as one and it really gives the maple grille what most restaurants/bars/taverns lack. I really can't wait to go back.
