I do not recommend this place. It took 30 minutes for us to get our drinks and 90 minutes to get food. Waitress claimed it was so busy but we watched half the place clear out before we got our drinks. My sandwich was lukewarm. The owner would not come out to address the issues. Definitely a local favorite. The Portabella mushrooms are AMAZINGGG!! I love their wedge salad, very refreshing. You can't go wrong with any of their wide variety of burgers. Awesome! This was our first time coming to Frankenmuth/Saginaw area. We were looking for a good burger place and Gabby's had great reviews, even though they only had a small number. They were rated 2 on the top 10 for trip advisor too, so we thought to give it a shot. The place is pretty simple and an old bar atmosphere but the burgers were amazing! If there was an ability to give ZERO stars, I would. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in here for a quick drink and something to eat before we went to catch a few bands play down the road. There are no other bar/food options for miles so it would have been nice to actually be able to eat/drink here, unfortunately that wasn't the case. To start, we walked in and were not greeted by anyone, so figured it was just a "seat yourself" type of place. We thought about grabbing a seat at the bar, but a couple obnoxious guys were spread out across the entire bar top. Beers, wallets, keys, packs of cigarettes- two guys taking up the whole bar. They were obviously regulars because the bartender was laughing and joking with them as we awkwardly stood in front of the bar looking around like idiots. We still remained unacknowledged. Servers walked pass us, the bartender said nothing, so we decided to just grab a table. I had to use the restroom, so I told my boyfriend that when the server comes around to grab a couple menus and go ahead and order our drinks. To my surprise, when I got back from the restroom he was still just sitting at a table looking around. We only decided to sit a few minutes longer because it was apparent that nobody was going to serve us. We were correct. From the time we walked in the door to the time we walked out was probably a total of 10 minutes and we were not acknowledged by a single employee, though we passed many. On our way out I thought maybe the staff was just busy with other tables? I got my answer as we left, 3 servers/bartenders were "busy" putting stickers on beer cans with their backsides turned to the entire bar and another one was in the parking lot smoking with what looked to be the entire kitchen staff. I love to support local small businesses, and really wanted to support this one. Sadly I cannot. read more

With my inlaws, they wanted to take us to where you can get one of the best burgers around. I was down, I mean, who doesn't love a good burger? We started with some pretzel sticks, which came out hot and fast. The waiter/bartender was slammed. He apologized profusely and he did a very good job of trying to keep up with everyone there. I decided on the regular cheeseburger with the fries. I felt like the cheeseburger was just that, a cheeseburger, but the fries, completely worth it. Solid place to eat and it's very reasonably priced. Whole page on the menu is dedicated to burgers. All fresh, never frozen meat, plenty of toppings on the side made for a GREAT burger. I ordered the "Garbage burger" medium and it was cooked perfectly. They also hand cut their fries... Every day! Local owner not the standard chain restaurant. I guess I should have had a burger, those are hard to screw up. I admit, the shrimp in my basket were HUGE and tasty, but whoever was cooking consistently did not watch the fryer. The breading was pretty burned. But on my Son's chicken, the very thick unspiced breading was really burned, a very dark brown. His fries were very dark, but that was nothing compared to mine. They were literally almost black, and they were stuck together in a mass at the bottom of my basket. My husband couldn't even eat them...he pretty much eats anything. Gary's fish he said was ok, that actually was not dark. I think it's maybe it's still a novelty, that's why people go. And maybe the burgers are good, I don't know. The drinking atmosphere is good..... that's the only reason I can think of that it's lasted. But as far as the food, from what I've seen it has zero staying power. And it's seriously expensive for what you get. It was $27 for 1 fish, 1 kid's meal and a shrimp basket. With tip $30. We could have gone to Rustic and had amazing steak dinners for that...... read more

I went there on a Saturday afternoon with some friends. I ordered the jumbo wings. The drummies were not cooked all the way! The red haired shaved head waitress must've been having the worst day of her life because we waited 5 minutes before she came to our table to even take our drink order and was clearly not happy to be there. Eventually when she dropped off our food she never came back to ask if we needed anything else. We waved the other younger waitress over to order another round of drinks and ask for napkins. I know I should have told her the wings were not cooked fully but I was afraid that shaved red head would beat me up and spit in my drink (if we ever got another one from her, which we did not). I am giving 2 stars instead of just one because of the sweet younger waitress whom actually smiled. We left and went to a different bar which had far better food and waitresses that seemed like they actually enjoyed their job and actually smiled and were very attentive. Should have gone to the other place to begin with. I do not think I will go back to Gabby's. It's amazing how one waitress with a foul mood can really ruin what should have been a nice day out with friends. read more

This is a great little spot. The burgers and sandwiches are great. The only spot I've been to in Saginaw that consistently cooks the burger to the right temp. When I order it medium it comes out medium, every time. Good selection of good brews, fries are killer. I went to Gabby's recently after reading about it on MLive. I had a burger, my wife had catfish, and our friends had burgers. The burger was fresh, cooked properly, and had a good selection of toppings that didn't overwhelm the very beefy, flavorful patty. Mine was spicy (I don't recall the name, but it had jalapenos and cheese). I didn't have any of the service problems mentioned elsewhere, although the fries were a bit overcooked, giving them a bitter, slightly burnt taste. Everything else was great, and the prices seemed fine for the quality and quantity of food. Would definitely recommend and will surely visit again, even though it is a bit of a drive for me. read more

It's really sad. When this place opened, it was awesome. It was our "go to" place. In October we went in and the service was terrible. If they'd been busy, I would have completely understood. So we decided Friday (Jan. 16) we'd give them another chance. The owner served us two flat diet cokes and told us Tina would be right with us. He went somewhere and hauled in a new CO2 tank, hooked it up and hauled the old one away. Still haven't seen Tina, and he never returned to replace our diet cokes, which he knew were flat. Finally, Tina arrives and we place our order. My daughter's burger was ordered medium rare. It arrived medium well, and tasted like it was a frozen processed type of burger you would get from a fast food joint. She said it tasted funny and the consistency wasn't quite right, but ate it anyway. Two hours later, she threw it up. People not working, walking in and out of the kitchen with their coats on, grubby ketchup bottles with dried ketchup all over the top. My philly was a sad handful of what looked like microwaved roast beef, a couple of mushrooms and a sprinkle of cheese on a bun that definitely way too big for what was inside. The side salad was so bitter, that we didn't even finish them and they didn't ask if something was wrong with them when we set them to the side 3/4's full. I think that's enough to send anyone, anywhere else. What a shame! read more
