Overall, we had a decent visit here. We both grabbed beer flights, and our favourite brews were Batch 69, the Hot Rocket Jalapeño Blonde, and the Christmas Beer which came with a cinnamon-sugar rim that was such a nice festive touch. Really enjoyed that. For an appetizer, we ordered the Truffle Parmesan Tots, and those were awesome; crispy, flavourful, and a great start to the meal. For my main, I went with the Brewery Burger. It was okay, not bad, not great. The bacon was crispy, and I liked that they served a fresh leaf of lettuce on the side instead of letting it steam on the burger. I just wish the patty itself was juicier, and a lot of the flavour ended up coming from the oil of the onion rings. Very average overall. My wife ordered the vegetarian Southwest Bowl and really enjoyed it; super fresh, and the cilantro amount was perfect. The one big downside: she found a piece of pulled pork in her supposedly vegetarian meal and had to pull it out of her mouth. Definitely something they need to be more careful with, especially when it comes to dietary restrictions. Worth checking out for the beer, but the food was a mixed bag for us. I came with a large group of parents and athlete kids and could not believe the incredibly fast and excellent service we received. Waiter, Jacob G, was super fantastic from greeting to ordering to remembering who got what to splitting up the bill to drink refills. I was super impressed. Old Detroit amber ale Beer was excellent. My kid loved her pizza and the fried pickle app. I ordered the chicken strip dinner and the portion was generous, especially the fries but it was just basic bar food. The beer and service were stand out. Super cute gift shop area when you first walk in. Would go back especially in a group. 20% was added for large group automatically but he more than deserved it.

Out of all the restaurants in Frankenmuth, this is the one I gravitate to. I am not really a big chicken person but I do like wings. I like that this place has a lot of different options so everyone can enjoy the food. The dining area is massive. We got a table near a wall and we were able to fit out wagon in. The only issue is we told the person 3 times we need high chairs and she never brought them. She gave my kids a menu but no crayons. Once our waiter came to get drinks, we told him the issues wnd he resolved them. Once we ordered our food, the only issue is that the wait is pretty long to get it. I gave my kids their snacks and stuff so that they wouldnt cry. They love eating my husband's fries. My husband got the chicken tender dinner and I got bbq boneless wings. We were going to try the spinach dip but we were told that it is frozen and not good. So glad we didnt order it. Next time I do want to try the pretzel because it looks amazing. The food came out hot. Our bill was super cheap. The waiter was also super nice and got us drink refills right away.

Updating my previous review from a few years ago. Monday at noon-busy place. Served quickly. Loved the river view. Some food items missing but a variety of flatbreads, bar food, sandwiches, German type food.

Beers were great. Service was good. Food was okay. I like the space - big and industrial vibe. Nice seating overlooking the river. Thought the pretzel was odd because of the fried. Why do we fry them? The cheese with the pretzel was good, though. French dip/Big Dipper was okay- the first half was better than the second. Maybe because it was missing cheese on it. All good. Nice visit for a drive through. Glad I got to try the beer.

We came during lunch on a Saturday during peak Christmas time. Our wait was an hour, no big deal for us! We had Christmas ales while we waited and they were delicious! And the bar tender was very quick and efficient! I like the warm cozy vibe of the place. But that's really where the positives stop. There's not really any options for a vegetarian here, so I got a cheese pizza. It tasted exactly like a pizza bagels back in the day. I had the biggest stomach ache after eating here, which really put a damper on our trip :( We were also seated in the heated patio, which we thought would be fine. However, it was very cold. The covering for the patio isn't tight or sealed, so the cold air is still getting in! We were freezing ! Overall, I would never recommend this place for food, but I really annoyed my beer !

Excellent service and great outdoor seating on the river, when the weather cooperates. The deep fried giant pretzels are worth stopping in for alone! Big place, great for families and groups. Yes, on the touristy side, but, their brews are actually quite good, and we are beer snobs. Michigan cherry salad and crispy Brussels sprouts are delicious, would order both again, along with the giant pretzels! Parking can be tough, small lot, so be prepared to walk a bit. A laid back ambiance with cool hits from the 70s playing throughout. Screens all over if you're trying to catch a game. One of our fav stops whenever we are in little Bavaria. And we usually take some beer to go as well.

I can say without a doubt this is one of my favorite places. Over the years there are to very distinct times I make a trip to this spot, the first being Oktoberfest and the second at some time during the Christmas Holiday. Why these two specific times you ask? Well allow me to tell you. First, I believe Oktoberfest is pretty self explanatory, but my friends and I have made it a bit of a tradition to stop here first before heading to the park. Their Oktoberfest Marzen and their Pumpkin with the cinnamon sugar rim are both so delicious. In a way I'm glad it takes me 90 minutes to get there because if it was closer I would be 300 lbs of beer. Second time of the year is during the Christmas season when they release their Christmas Town Spiced Beer. OMG!!! The Best Christmas bar none. Yum yum to the yummy yum!! Please note all the exclamation points. I've only eaten here a few times over the years but I've never had an issue with the food or the service here. They have both been spot on, and while the food isn't Michelin 3* I have always found it very good. If you're in the area and want to skip the lines at the overrated chicken places, this is so much better in every way.

While on a tour... around all of Michigan... we happened upon Frankenmuth. The other places to grab food didn't look as interesting as the brewery so we gave it whirl. This brewery is pretty big and spacious. Seems really good for groups. Since it was just my mom and I, we were lucky to get a table on the back patio that overlooks the little river. It's always really nice to sit outside on a nice day near the water. Something about water is soothing. Anyways... we were greeted and sat quickly. Our server swung by and dropped off waters right away and then came back to take our orders a few minutes later. We were there on a Wednesday and it seemed like all the folks working were spread a little thin. Probably so since it's hard to gauge how busy the weekdays are going to be. We had to flag down a different person to get our check. We weren't super hungry ... so we ordered a couple beers, the pretzel (which is HUGE btw) and a salad. The beers were ok. I think the CO2 was off because they seemed flat. Probably just a fluke. The pretzel and Michigan Cherry salad were very good and plentiful. The salad was large and I'm glad we shared it... lots of fresh greens, dried cherries and apples. It really was the perfect summer salad.

Ask the Community - Frankenmuth Brewery

    Do they take reservations?

I don't think they do. It's pretty big. They might during a holiday like Octoberfest.

    Any gluten free beers?

No. Because the beers are made at the brewery and in the same containers, they don't offer gluten free beer.

Is this place ok for handicapped?

Yes! They can accommodate pretty much everyone between elevators, ramps, and even access to the pool. You will love it!

Our server, Tanner, was genuinely kind and welcoming, which made a big difference. The table was set nicely when we arrived -- wine glass and water glass, silverware wrapped with cloth napkins on a side plate, and a candle lit off to the side. It felt thoughtful and perfect for a date night. We split the French Onion Soup to start, and it was delicious. Maybe a little pricey at $12, but it came with lots of cheese and bread (plus bread on the side), so it felt worth it as a starter. My boyfriend ordered a Long Island Iced Tea -- strong, but no complaints there -- and I got cranberry juice. Both drinks came out in the same glassware as the water, styled like cocktails, which I actually appreciated. No weird "different treatment" if you're not drinking alcohol, which is always a plus to me. We also did the Build-Your-Own Board, which was really fun, and Tanner was super helpful in guiding us through the choices. We picked Summer Sausage, Garlic & Herb Soft Cheese, Smoked Gouda, Fire Roasted Tomatoes, and Balsamic Onion Jam. The Fire Roasted Tomatoes were SO GOOD, and I usually don't even like tomatoes. They were soaking in olive oil (I think?), which had great flavor and paired perfectly with the bread and Garlic & Herb Cheese. I also really enjoyed the Balsamic Onion Jam, savory, slightly sweet, and a little goes a long way. Overall, everything tasted great. I was a little disappointed in the portion of Smoked Gouda compared to the soft cheese, especially considering some soft cheeses can retail around $30 per pound. If you're looking for the best value, you might consider a different cheese option. That said, extra bread was only $1, which felt like a great deal for the amount we received. We were honestly getting pretty full and almost couldn't finish it all. We were seated in the cellar area, which was okay, just a little small, and the music was pretty loud. Not ideal for a Valentine's date when you're trying to have a conversation. Random but important: the bathrooms were spectacular. Individual, spacious, very clean, nice sink setup, pump soap, automatic paper towel dispenser, and even a candle lit. Honestly, 10/10 bathroom experience. Overall, it's a really solid date night spot with great service and good food. Just a couple small tweaks (music volume and cheese portions!) would make it even better. We'd definitely come back.

I was initially quite disappointed about this, as we had already chosen what we wanted to eat from the Bavarian Inn menu and were ready for some schnitzel and authentic fare. However, we were already seated with our dog when we realized all this. I did ask for a Bavarian Inn menu and was told that was not possible and also told that the Bavarian Inn is not dog friendly but we were already there and we were hungry so we decided to stay and to give them a try. The patio seating is nice, although it was a little cramped and I was closer to other people and their conversations than I would have liked but the weather was good and so was the people watching. I started off with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch from their drink menu but it was underwhelming. The menu is quite small with limited options so I ended up ordering a Pretzel charcuterie board and my husband had their sausage duo. The presentation was simple and could even be described as economical on their part. The food itself was fine for the most part. There were a few things didn't care for the flavor of like the little sausages, but fortunately for me my little pup was happy to take them off my hands. I really liked the jam served on the side of my meal and the mustard was too die for! (I actually ended up buying some to take home it was so good) My husband said his meal was fine. There were some bees or wasps that were bothering people and they did become quite annoying, especially towards the end of our meal. I kept shooing them gently, but they were persistent and when they started to bother the lady next to us, she became incredibly frightened. If you have a fear of bees or wasps, I definitely would not recommend dining here. All that being said, it was about $60 after tip for our meal and while it was perfectly adequate given the options available to us at the moment, I don't think it's anywhere that I would go out of my way to revisit.

After leaving Oma's, I realized I wasn't in the downtown area but at the Bavarian Inn Zehnder. (Google maps gave directions to this inn although I input downtown Frankenmuth, MI.) As I was finding a parking space, numerous tour buses pulled up and dropped passengers off. I can see why my wait time was twenty minutes (shortest wait time at any of the restaurants). While waiting, I walked around the building and realized that that all the restaurants - different décor - had almost identical menus but prices seem to vary for the same dishes (maybe quantity is different). The gift store was stuffed with all kinds of souvenir items. Although I was seated in Lorelei Lounge, I was given a Oma's menu. As I looked around the room and by the bar, there was a doorway leading to Oma restaurant. This Inn is known for its fried chicken. The chicken was fried crispy and well seasoned but the insides were not moist nor tender. For its notoriety, it did not meet my expectations. The pork schnitzel was so so - not as good as other German restaurants I tried. The Franconian Combination Plate of sausage and chicken was nothing special. I thought it needed more flavoring and not so overcooked. Food presentation was poor. If it was better, I might have finished my plate. The Apfel Strudel could use more filling.
