Food was good, overpriced but likely in line with the area. I enjoyed my classic cheese pizza which was large enough to split. My brother wanted the Rueben but they were sold out. That happens, but they did not tell us when we got our menus, so he had to scramble to find an alternate selection during the ordering process. He ordered the brewery burger and was told they are out of bacon jam which is a unique ingredient of the dish! It's a $19 burger guys. Nice interior, I am a fan of the giant brew kettles and patio.

Finally had the opportunity to visit Frankenmuth Brewery a couple of times and have had a great experience each time. In my mind, I expected to sit at the bar and be overwhelmed by 30 different beers on tap but that wasn't the case at all. They had about 10 different beers on draft to choose from and I liked each one I tried. The bartenders have always been very communicative and offer recommendations if requested. My wife loves their Hef and describes it as one of the best, if not the best one she's had. Food was good too; their fish and chips are hard to beat.

I stopped in for a drink with my mother in law after walking through the shops at Frankenmuth. It was a nice ambience and good service. We didn't order any food, just drinks. I would definitely visit again on a return trip to Frankenmuth.

Finn and tasty place however for a brew bun I was a little disappointed in the fish and chips. The coleslaw (kale slaw actually) was the saving grace of the mean. Great staff tho!!! Sit on the patio if you can and over look the river!!!!

Overall, we had a decent visit here. We both grabbed beer flights, and our favourite brews were Batch 69, the Hot Rocket Jalapeño Blonde, and the Christmas Beer which came with a cinnamon-sugar rim that was such a nice festive touch. Really enjoyed that. For an appetizer, we ordered the Truffle Parmesan Tots, and those were awesome; crispy, flavourful, and a great start to the meal. For my main, I went with the Brewery Burger. It was okay, not bad, not great. The bacon was crispy, and I liked that they served a fresh leaf of lettuce on the side instead of letting it steam on the burger. I just wish the patty itself was juicier, and a lot of the flavour ended up coming from the oil of the onion rings. Very average overall. My wife ordered the vegetarian Southwest Bowl and really enjoyed it; super fresh, and the cilantro amount was perfect. The one big downside: she found a piece of pulled pork in her supposedly vegetarian meal and had to pull it out of her mouth. Definitely something they need to be more careful with, especially when it comes to dietary restrictions. Worth checking out for the beer, but the food was a mixed bag for us. Out of all the restaurants in Frankenmuth, this is the one I gravitate to. I am not really a big chicken person but I do like wings. I like that this place has a lot of different options so everyone can enjoy the food. The dining area is massive. We got a table near a wall and we were able to fit out wagon in. The only issue is we told the person 3 times we need high chairs and she never brought them. She gave my kids a menu but no crayons. Once our waiter came to get drinks, we told him the issues wnd he resolved them. Once we ordered our food, the only issue is that the wait is pretty long to get it. I gave my kids their snacks and stuff so that they wouldnt cry. They love eating my husband's fries. My husband got the chicken tender dinner and I got bbq boneless wings. We were going to try the spinach dip but we were told that it is frozen and not good. So glad we didnt order it. Next time I do want to try the pretzel because it looks amazing. The food came out hot. Our bill was super cheap. The waiter was also super nice and got us drink refills right away.

My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch and we're seated in the upper dining room. We were very lucky that our server was Cherie! She did a terrific job, taking care of us, kept our beverages flowing, and spaced out food perfectly! After reviewing our beverage choices, my wife decided on a specialty cocktail while I tried their batch 69 IPA. We also ordered their buffalo chicken dip at the same time. Our dip came out after our beverages, perfectly! Not too spicy and delicious! We ordered our main dishes and Cherie, promised to space it out perfectly, she did! The Apple orzo flatbread was delicious! The flavors enhanced each other! We also split their boneless chicken wings, more like chicken breast chunks, with Parmesan garlic sauce. Not too much sauce and very delicious just like we like it!! I also ordered their root beer baked beans which was delicious as well! No a terrific visit, with the staff making it the best!! Thank you, Cherie!

I came with a large group of parents and athlete kids and could not believe the incredibly fast and excellent service we received. Waiter, Jacob G, was super fantastic from greeting to ordering to remembering who got what to splitting up the bill to drink refills. I was super impressed. Old Detroit amber ale Beer was excellent. My kid loved her pizza and the fried pickle app. I ordered the chicken strip dinner and the portion was generous, especially the fries but it was just basic bar food. The beer and service were stand out. Super cute gift shop area when you first walk in. Would go back especially in a group. 20% was added for large group automatically but he more than deserved it.

Updating my previous review from a few years ago. Monday at noon-busy place. Served quickly. Loved the river view. Some food items missing but a variety of flatbreads, bar food, sandwiches, German type food.

Beers were great. Service was good. Food was okay. I like the space - big and industrial vibe. Nice seating overlooking the river. Thought the pretzel was odd because of the fried. Why do we fry them? The cheese with the pretzel was good, though. French dip/Big Dipper was okay- the first half was better than the second. Maybe because it was missing cheese on it. All good. Nice visit for a drive through. Glad I got to try the beer.

Excellent service, we enjoyed sitting on the patio above the river. It was fun watching the Frankenmuth Belle go up and down the river.

We came during lunch on a Saturday during peak Christmas time. Our wait was an hour, no big deal for us! We had Christmas ales while we waited and they were delicious! And the bar tender was very quick and efficient! I like the warm cozy vibe of the place. But that's really where the positives stop. There's not really any options for a vegetarian here, so I got a cheese pizza. It tasted exactly like a pizza bagels back in the day. I had the biggest stomach ache after eating here, which really put a damper on our trip :( We were also seated in the heated patio, which we thought would be fine. However, it was very cold. The covering for the patio isn't tight or sealed, so the cold air is still getting in! We were freezing ! Overall, I would never recommend this place for food, but I really annoyed my beer !

Excellent service and great outdoor seating on the river, when the weather cooperates. The deep fried giant pretzels are worth stopping in for alone! Big place, great for families and groups. Yes, on the touristy side, but, their brews are actually quite good, and we are beer snobs. Michigan cherry salad and crispy Brussels sprouts are delicious, would order both again, along with the giant pretzels! Parking can be tough, small lot, so be prepared to walk a bit. A laid back ambiance with cool hits from the 70s playing throughout. Screens all over if you're trying to catch a game. One of our fav stops whenever we are in little Bavaria. And we usually take some beer to go as well.

Ask the Community - Frankenmuth Brewery

    Do they take reservations?

I don't think they do. It's pretty big. They might during a holiday like Octoberfest.

    Any gluten free beers?

No. Because the beers are made at the brewery and in the same containers, they don't offer gluten free beer.

Is this place ok for handicapped?

Yes! They can accommodate pretty much everyone between elevators, ramps, and even access to the pool. You will love it!

He was friendly, attentive, and kept everything running smoothly despite our larger group. The decor was a lot of fun and really made us feel like we had stepped into Germany. It added to the overall experience and made it much more than just another dinner. We tried several different meals, including the Frankenmuth chicken, chicken schnitzel, chicken pot pie, chicken tenders, and a soft pretzel. The portions were generous, the food came out hot, and overall everything tasted very good. The fried chicken was especially crispy and flavorful, and the soup and fresh bread were also excellent. The only real disappointment was the spaetzle. It had way too much butter and ended up being very greasy, which overpowered the dish. Overall, we had a great family dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Between the atmosphere, excellent service from Mitch, and the quality of the food, it's definitely a place worth visiting while you're in Frankenmuth. We'd happily come back.

The interior decor is what you'd expect from the exterior: over-the-top (some might say "kitschy") German motifs on every wall. Authentic German? Not sure. But definitely fun. The food is decent. A Pleasant Surprise and a Great Place to Take a Break…read more After several days in Frankenmuth, we didn't want to repeat any of the restaurants we had already visited, so we decided to give Michigan on Main Bar & Grill in the Castle Shops a try. There were very few guests at dinner time, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was very kind, welcoming and efficient. We started with the pretzel served with mustard and beer cheese. The beer cheese was easily the highlight--we actually had to order a second serving because it was so good! For our entrées, we ordered the Grilled Cheese and the Smash Burger. The Grilled Cheese, served on ciabatta bread, really isn't what I would call a grilled cheese. It's much more of a tender short-rib sandwich with a little melted cheese. The meat was very tender, but it lacked seasoning and needed something more to bring all the flavors together. The Smash Burger was good and cooked well, although there wasn't anything particularly outstanding about it. What we really enjoyed was the atmosphere. Michigan on Main has a quiet, low-key bar feel that was a welcome change after some of the busier tourist restaurants around town. We enjoyed sitting near the front window, people-watching and having a chance to relax before continuing to wander around downtown Frankenmuth. Service was quick, the atmosphere was comfortable, and the beer cheese alone was worth the stop. A great little resting place for a casual bite and a drink while exploring the Castle Shops and downtown area.

I was initially quite disappointed about this, as we had already chosen what we wanted to eat from the Bavarian Inn menu and were ready for some schnitzel and authentic fare. However, we were already seated with our dog when we realized all this. I did ask for a Bavarian Inn menu and was told that was not possible and also told that the Bavarian Inn is not dog friendly but we were already there and we were hungry so we decided to stay and to give them a try. The patio seating is nice, although it was a little cramped and I was closer to other people and their conversations than I would have liked but the weather was good and so was the people watching. I started off with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch from their drink menu but it was underwhelming. The menu is quite small with limited options so I ended up ordering a Pretzel charcuterie board and my husband had their sausage duo. The presentation was simple and could even be described as economical on their part. The food itself was fine for the most part. There were a few things didn't care for the flavor of like the little sausages, but fortunately for me my little pup was happy to take them off my hands. I really liked the jam served on the side of my meal and the mustard was too die for! (I actually ended up buying some to take home it was so good) My husband said his meal was fine. There were some bees or wasps that were bothering people and they did become quite annoying, especially towards the end of our meal. I kept shooing them gently, but they were persistent and when they started to bother the lady next to us, she became incredibly frightened. If you have a fear of bees or wasps, I definitely would not recommend dining here. All that being said, it was about $60 after tip for our meal and while it was perfectly adequate given the options available to us at the moment, I don't think it's anywhere that I would go out of my way to revisit.

After leaving Oma's, I realized I wasn't in the downtown area but at the Bavarian Inn Zehnder. (Google maps gave directions to this inn although I input downtown Frankenmuth, MI.) As I was finding a parking space, numerous tour buses pulled up and dropped passengers off. I can see why my wait time was twenty minutes (shortest wait time at any of the restaurants). While waiting, I walked around the building and realized that that all the restaurants - different décor - had almost identical menus but prices seem to vary for the same dishes (maybe quantity is different). The gift store was stuffed with all kinds of souvenir items. Although I was seated in Lorelei Lounge, I was given a Oma's menu. As I looked around the room and by the bar, there was a doorway leading to Oma restaurant. This Inn is known for its fried chicken. The chicken was fried crispy and well seasoned but the insides were not moist nor tender. For its notoriety, it did not meet my expectations. The pork schnitzel was so so - not as good as other German restaurants I tried. The Franconian Combination Plate of sausage and chicken was nothing special. I thought it needed more flavoring and not so overcooked. Food presentation was poor. If it was better, I might have finished my plate. The Apfel Strudel could use more filling. On top of the food quality, the service was also an issue. It was seat yourself and we had to track down a server, then go hunt down menus. Once food arrived there was no follow up on our food or needs until we again found someone to assist us.
