Saginaw's best restaurant is making Old Town worth the drive. Interesting varied menu offerings from a giant platter of crab legs, to an amazing rack of lamb, and to my favorite, the marinated hanger steak that melts in your mouth. Outstanding service and an appetizer selection featuring the best Asian flavored ribs you'll ever have. The portions are large, but the prices are fair, you'll not go home hungry, but you will go home happy. read more

The most delicious lamb & fantastic service! Miguel is a great server, very attentive and knowledgeable. The lamb - feels like you're at a 5-Star Restaurant. The seasoning, homemade sauce and the cook - all beautifully done. The Bruschetta appetizer is fresh, packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Don't forget a Cosmo (with Tito's) it's the best, so cold it frosts over, they've perfected this classic cocktail! read more

Went here for dinner on a Saturday afternoon, the place was lively. We got a table in the back. Two people in my party got the Korean and the Argentinian beef skewers for $19.5 each. Each asking for medium rare cooked I got a simple cheeseburger. Our waitress was nice but the food was taking over an hour and half to get to our table. Once it finally did, both skewers were cooked way past well done. With the beef one not even chewable with it being burnt on some ends. Our waitress said it would take about the same time to remake them but she generously gave us a discount on them. The burger was okay. Would give it 2.5/5 stars Overall not the greatest experience read more

Cool vibe if you're into retro music videos/music. Food was good. Nice cocktail selection and local craft beer list. Great service. Not from around here, was a good find. read more

Portion size is lacking but overall food is pretty decent. Good mix of American and ethnic foods

Nice and clean, great food. Very nice waiters. Kind of pricey but worth it. I was happy

First, this place had a great vibe. Loved all the posters on the wall and good music playing. We had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated, which wasn't a big deal. HOWEVER, after we placed our food order, it took an hour to get our food. They messed up my order, so actually we only received two out of the three food orders. I ordered the Argentinian burger, and it took an hour and a half to get that. It shouldn't take that long. And once I got it, it wasn't cooked all the way. They did take the burger off the check, but I was hungry so it was disappointing. The curly fries were tasty. read more

The best part of this place - the retro vibes it gives off by having the "old school" album covers on the walls and playing music videos from the 80s. The worst part - everything else. We arrived and waited near the front door to be seated. nobody said anything to us and another couple walked in and sat down...and then another table told us to just get our own table. Strike 1. The server asked right away if we were ready to order and I said I needed just another minute as I was debating between two items...so he took off for "a minute" which turned to be closer to 8 minutes before he came back. Strike 2. The burger was viciously over cooked. I ordered it medium and it came out well done. No sign of pink anywhere in that burger and it was incredibly dry to eat. The texture of the beef was like that of a frozen pre-made burger patty. I did not like anything about it at all. Strike 3. By the time the server came back to check on us, I had had enough and just wanted to leave. He did offer to have the kitchen refire another burger for me but I was at that point of "enough is enough". He did take a little bit off the bill though. The only reason that I gave Retro Rocks two stars is the atmosphere. The food ruined all chances of the score being any higher. read more

First time visit and sat at the bar (where else would you sit?)... ordered an Old Fashioned and asked for the food menu. There were so many hints I was curious about, but the Skewers really caught my attention. I asked the bartender to surprise me with one, and she selected the Argentinian Skewer for me, medium, per my request, as I am careful about new places. The skewers came out with pita and dipping sauce, truly medium, making me wish I had asked for medium rare, but so delicious, tasty and rich! Sitting at the bar and enjoying the overall vibe is definitely enjoyable, reminding me of the pumped up nineties with music videos on two big screens. There is your retro. Great place, I can recommend, I will be back to try more! read more

Overall, a nice bar/restaurant with friendly staff and good ambience. The reason for the 3 star was we had to wait an hour for a burger. The wait staff were extremely apologetic and nice about it. They weren't busy and not sure what the hold up was in the kitchen. I would have given fewer Stars for such a long wait but the staff were really professional and made the situation right so im definitely willing to go back again. No hard feelings! We got a crab cheese app (yum), a lamb kofta off their specials menu, and an Argentinian burger (the meal that came out late). Nice drink menu. I got a Mocktail and the husband got a yummy cider. read more

This is a decent bar and restaurant. It's got kind of a cool atmosphere. It seems to be a pretty popular place because it was pretty busy for a Monday night. The food is OK. I wouldn't say it's great but it was good enough. I ordered a murder medium and it was absolutely well done The service was very slow They only had two people working the place. I was surprised that it was as expensive as it was also but that was so late because of the drinks. I don't think we were close till four star like others seem to think but it's OK. read more

Yelpers never lead me astray so when we were driving through Saginaw, a town we've never visited, and looking for a dinner spot, Retro Rocks topped my list based on reviews and pictures of their eclectic and pretty extensive menu. Wowza! Glad we Yelp and glad we stopped. Easy parking across the street. Love all the historic buildings and signs in the area and the exposed brick on the interior where we were seated. On our way in we spotted some delicious-looking Bruschetta on the plates of outdoor diners so it was easy to order a starter. Deliziosa! Service was stellar. We told the bartender (who had a gnarly beard and was a fill-in from the Bay City location we learned) the ingredients we wanted and he mixed us up some great cocktails, his choice. They were thirst-quenching and perfect. Good list of on tap beer. Cool music and music videos from the "retro" era - 70s and 80s - were some of our favorite tunes. Although most all the items are designed to be shared, there wasn't a lot of that going on at our table! We were each so happy with our choice, we would only let a bite or two go! We went very international. I had the Argentinean Empanadas-seasoned ground beef (and I think I spotted some chopped olives in there) stuffed into a wonderful dough, hand-patted and deep-fried. Think savory fried pie! My husband ordered the Moroccan Lamb-two big skewers of lamb cubes seasoned with an exotic blend (for Michigan!) of: cumin, garlic, coriander, cinnamon and nutmeg. He ordered cooked medium and that's exactly what he got. Wish we could have tried the flourless chocolate cake for dessert but there just wasn't room! Left FULLY satisfied! read more

Whoever the old guy is by the front desk who talked down to the other lady employees needs to be fired or put in early retirement. I was a customer and was just a few feet away. I am embarrassed for these ladies. I asked the bartender if he's the owner and she said no. I said no one should be talked to like that and she said that they are all used to it. The owner, Ryan Neil needs to fire this man immediately. The 20th century is over and I will not return to a business where the old men treat the young ladies like that. Fix this. read more

Was recommended by a co worker of mine and was quite impressed by their dishes for a casual bar. Would recommend the ahi tuna appetizer, Jamaican jerk flatiron and Cuban pork tenderloin. Lots of flavor in these dishes. Would suggest maybe adding a side of vegetables or something to the Jamaican jerk as it's just steak on a bed of rice. My SO also thought the portions could be a bit bigger. Otherwise, great food and service! read more

Yes Yes Yes! Saginaw has done it again! Atmosphere: This is clearly the spot if you are in town or a local. This little dive has everything you need from good music, great food, to even better vibes! The server/bartender (nice guy with the man-bun) made great suggestions and was still attentive while making drinks all night! Food: My friend and I came with a huge appetite after a workout. Our server suggested so many things that we just got a combination of foods. We tried the Argentinian Empanadas, Firecracker Shrimp, and the season Cuban Tenderloins. The empanadas were sooooo good! Like WOAH! Very flavorful and filling! The shrimp were tasty, not too much fire in the cracker though. The tenderloin made the day. The meat was smothered in this amazing sauce on top of rice, topped with asparagus. I was blown away! We left with leftovers and very happy! **they have daily drink specials so I'm excited to come back and try the drinks read more

We were in Saginaw with a loved one at St Mary's Hospital. After long days, we found our way to RR 3 nights in a row. They're open late which really helped us. I gotta admit , I gambled the dinner spot and I luck was by side because this place turned out to be off the chain. I'm super skeptical about setting the right vibe when I'm hosting a big party. Sometimes I Miss but when I get it right it becomes an unforgettable experience. Let me start off by saying this place is super cool. They have retro album covers through your the pub. I thought that was dope. They music was great. The beer selection was perfect, I had some IPA called 45th brothers or something,,, that beer right there is fire. We ordered crab legs, Jamaican jerk plate, lamp chops, burgers, Orange chicken, Argentinian empanadas, fire cracker shrimp,,,, and let me tell you everything was Bomb. Or should I say Bussinnnnnnn ! I definitely will be returning for those crab legs. They really hit the spot. I was actually really impressed with how yummy they were. Like we're in the middle of Michigan there is no ocean in site what can you expect??? Needless to say, Retro Rock surpassed my expectations and I highly recommend this place for anyone interested in some good brew and fire food while good tunes setting the vibes. read more

Used to love this place back when Miguel and the crew were there. I've been there twice in the last couple of months and they act like they could care less. We are from a small nearby town and coming to Saginaw always means dinner! I wanted to try something different though, not a chain. After going through other reviews we decided to try Retro Rocks. We are so glad we did! This won't be a one time thing either. I think we have recommended it to everyone we have come in contact with! Miguel was our server and he was so patient with us, explaining the menu and offering suggestions. The food 100 percent exceeded our expectations! Can't wait to come back! read more

Great food!! The shrimp is my favorite! It's a little pricey for bar food but definitely way higher quality than your average bar food.

Their Mango Moscow's are amazing. Most of their drinks are great. I love their buffalo chicken dip!

This is a standing favorite of mine. Their food is always delicious and the drinks are good as well.

Had the crab legs to go. Comes in one size which is I believe 2 pounds. They were very good and seasoned just right.

My boyfriend and I were very pleasantly surprised by Retro Rocks. Upon entering, the atmosphere and decor were not supremely impressive or endearing (though I did like the concert posters), but the drink selection was what we were looking for and the food was fantastic. We did not expect food of that delicious and creative caliber would have been available at a neighborhood pub. Great work!! read more
