They have wonderful bread, pastries, and quiche. What a treat! Don't miss out on such a delicious place. The service is great too

Food- the croissants have funky egg smell and taste. Cookies have no flavor, and their galettes are overly baked. Service- not the friendliest. It's a small place so they just try to get you in and out. If you are selecting a bunch of items, you might want to check your items and receipt before you leave. It has happened twice where they have charged me for an extra item. Coincidence... I think not. Call them about it and they will not apologize or make things right. Ambiance- hole in the wall dirty bakery. Go in and see for yourself, not clean at all... or sanitary either. Would not recommend this dirty place at all. Love this place! Should have gone earlier in the morning because they were sold out of some of our favorites by 10:30. We were able to get some chocolate cherry scones, croissants, and an Apple galette. All items were delicious. We love their bread, quiches, and pizza. The owner is so adorable, he looks so young and he's so sweet. This place is in a little yellow building and it's small inside but so cozy and clean. My friends and I bought various croissants...Almond, chocolate and plain. They were absolutely fabulous. I guess he used to be in SVRC, the farm market but he said he had panic attacks because he felt a lot was expected out of him. I'm really glad he opened this little place! Looking at the young man behind the counter, it can be hard to believe that he baked all the bread that you seen in the shop. While some bakeries have a homestyle look that is a little sloppy, each piece here looks excellent. I really wanted to buy a baguette but I had some bread at home that I just bought and didn't want to waste. I could not pass on the croissants so I got one of each. Baguette, I will come back for you! I lived in Denmark for about 7 years so I've become accustomed to a high standard when it comes to baked goods. These croissants were almost as good as what I would have gotten overseas. Not quite as shatteringly crisp but I prefer it a little soft like this. The Bread Guy is generous with the filling so the chocolate and almond croissants are the perfect not-too-sweet treat. The plain one is a great little snack which somehow isn't greasy at all. This is an exceptional bakery; especially for the area. You would be a fool not to stop in and try it if you have a chance. read more

If you're a local, you've heard the story of how this place came to be. The menu changes almost daily, but if you follow this place on FB, they're really good about keeping you in the loop. They also post things like extended hours or sales. There's been a lot of hype about this place so I've been dying to try it all 3 months that it's been open. We got the pain au chocolat and a blueberry scone. The croissant was wonderfully buttery and had that ever sought after top layer that almost peeled off. The chocolate filling was just enough to give you the sweet notes. It was smooth and not creamy so the croissant wasn't soggy halfway in. The blueberry scone didn't turn to dust after two bites either. The blueberries weren't overworked and the scone wasn't dense. I can't wait to go back to try out a sandwich and the pasta. This is the beginning of a Saginaw mainstay. read more

Where once there were just a few pastries, she keeps expanding the offerings and it's a delight to keep going back to see your favorites added to with new additions and creations. Truly the best bakery in Saginaw. No other bakery currently measures up to The Bread Gal, because there's no mass production involved. She bakes a limited quantity and the quality is top notch. Visiting back home for the holidays, we went to this tiny little shop whose sign saying "coming soon" we had seen on our last visit in July. This young man has truly mad skills. Check the photo I just Uploaded. Something we enjoy very much back East is good food and for myself especially good baking as I try an amateur hand at that myself. The baugette has the perfect firmness of crust and flex betraying a tenderl interior crumb. Will post again when we crack it open later. We immediately ate the croissant that we bought and were immediately impressed. We have eaten literally thousands of these in our 64 + 65 years and at many dozens of bakeries from local groceries to patisserie in Paris. This baker is the equal of any in the US including New York City and San Francisco, and is only slightly below the best we have had in Paris. You never know where talent can arise. Try this little place and you will see what we mean. Naturally you have to eat the goods fresh as there are no preservatives. read more

This was my first visit to The Bread Guy and I will definitely be back. This place is so cute and the staff is very friendly. I tried the Chocolate Java scone which was delicious, probably the best I've ever had. I also purchased a French baguette and it was perfect.
