Super cute food stall on the main drag in Frankenmuth whipping up delicious, pillowy, warm, HEART SHAPED (I told you it was cute!) beignets with a ridiculous amount of powdered sugar. On a cold December night when we were walking around town it was bliss. We got a dozen to split/take home and when we got our order the bag was piping hot so I was forced to wait a minute which was VERY difficult. Ha. But they were worth the wait. We scarfed down a few right away and saved the rest for later. They actually warmed up really well the next day and were perfect with coffee on the couch on my first Sunday morning of holiday vacation. We also got chocolate, caramel, and cinnamon dipping sauces but honestly I liked them best plain. The cinnamon was my favorite of the three, though. The line was relatively long the Saturday night before Christmas but they had it down and it moved quickly. Both for ordering and getting our food. I was excited to let my kids try gator and beignets without having to take them to New Orleans. I order two of the combos. One had beignets and gator bites and the other had beignets, jambalaya and gumbo. We thought the jambalaya and gumbo were delicious and authentic. These are the most delicious beignets. You can get half a dozen for $11. There are a variety of sauces that you purchase separately. They are $2 a piece or 3 for $5. They had cinnamon, chocolate, and raspberry. I believe there was a 4th sauce but I cant remember maybe caramel. The customer service was great, she greeted us and explained the prices. It's a very small and cute shop that sells other things such as drinks too Once you order, they make them fresh. They are super hot and loaded with powdered sugar. Lovely little coffee stop with beignets, gumbo and several different designs on café. I'll start with what is a beignet? I don't know. Never had one before. They're a light, fluffy pastry shaped like a square, but they also have a crispy exterior (BTW, here they are heart shaped). They cover them with a generous layer of powdered sugar. A definite contributor to this treat's distinct flavour. This must be a pastry featured in New Orleans since the whole place is based on there. I can't compare it to the original but I can say they are marvelous and I could eat more than a few (if left alone). The coffee was a very friendly brew. The biggest disappointment was just like every other venue at River Place. No where to sit. We were fortunate to have decent weather and sat on a rock wall outside. The service was excellent and the drinks that we ordered were delicious. Though I'm not a fan of caramel, the drizzle that went over my vanilla iced coffee wasn't overwhelming. My daughter enjoyed her mango lemonade bubble tea while my son liked his blue raspberry slushie. We were looking for a little snack at the River Place shopping area in Frankenmuth. We have been to New Orleans in the past and have had their beignets. These are OK but much different. The taste is about the same, but these ones are hollow and a lighter texture. The tea was pretty standard as it was just green iced tea. My husband got the black coffee which he enjoyed. Cute little beignet and coffee shop on Main St! I came first thing when they opened and the lady who worked there was so sweet. I ordered 3 beignets and my kids went nuts. I should've ordered more. They are very light and airy. The heart shaped beignets were adorable. The chicory coffee is good if you like an earthy flavor to your coffee. I got them plain without a dipping sauce, and the smallest order you can get is three for $4.99 (dipping sauces are 99c each extra). They are heart-shaped which was cute. They make them fresh to order, so they were nice and hot. Almost too much powdered sugar. They were a little chewier and denser than the NOLA variety but still tasty. Driving around one Saturday and wanted a cup of coffee. I hop on Yelp and see who is recommending what. I see "N'Orlins" has good reviews. Really? I'm suspicious. But, okay - sure, let's give it a try. We've walked past this place every time we're in Frankenmuth. We get (1) regular coffee, (1) cafe au lait, and (3) beignets. That's about $15. Now, I know we're in a tourist area, so prices are going to be over the top. The coffee - terrible. The cafe au lait - terrible. Did you use skim milk in this? Just hot brown water. For those people who think their coffee is good - you've never had a good cup of coffee in your life, and for that, I'm sad for you. The beignets - doughy, chewy, and lacking flavor. Of course, I know they're just a box mix (they sell the mix in the store), but still... So, it was bad. We threw out our coffees, they were so bad. If you've been to New Orleans, and sampled beignets, you've probably already been sold on them. So we're passing the shop, and I beelined to this small window nestled between a few shops. MamaBear welcomed us and recommended a half dozen for the two of us. They make the begnuits fresh, and they are covered... I mean, you are going to get sugar covered eating these. The flavor and texture are incredible. They're every bit as good as what you'll see in New Orleans. What you won't get in New Orleans is MamaBears beautiful smile and sunny disposition. Not bad for a "fast-food" stand in a tourist area. We have been curious about this place for quite a while and my child loves gumbo and has been craving some good gumbo since getting some great gumbo at Disneyland. We tried the gumbo, jambalaya, and some beignet. Again, not bad. The food was piping hot. The beignet were nice and sugary. The jambalaya was tasty as was the gumbo. The gumbo seemed to lack rice and the rice in the jambalaya could have been moister but I would come back for more and maybe try their coffee. The stews also seemed to lack shrimp or at least we did not get any shrimp in ours. The storefront is cute and the people working here were friendly. The person behind the register was gracious enough to let me know about a money saving special, get two bowls and half dozen beignet for the same price as the two bowls. I wish everyone wait and counter staff was this helpful! Honestly, I really appreciate it. I feel like so many times I have paid full price for buying things individually and did not figure it out until afterward when the staff could have helped out like this. This place was so good! The guy behind the counter (possibly the owner) was very friendly! My wife and I were just going to get 3 beignets but he suggested we at least get 6 and I'm so glad we did. My wife got the salted caramel dipping sauce and I got the raspberry. Both dipping sauces were really good even though the beignets by themselves were delicious. He then gave me a sample of the jambalaya and it was so good! I didn't buy it because we just ate but I definitely will come back here for a bowl of the jambalaya.
