Absolutely would recommend. Generous servings and the staff did not make you feel rushed. The place was clean and well cared for. Plus they have Ashby's which is our favorite ice cream! read more

The best of the best ice creams out there I tried a few new flavors this yr. Can't say anything wrong about them. I'm sure that I'm speaking for Saginaw and surrounding area that We're all so happy that Mooney's reopened after a long break. I had the pleasure of being served by the owner and what a pleasure it was he's very outgoing and informative and actually helped me decide what flavors to get bcuz there's so many choices. I love the fresh new parlor as well. Clean and bright but small when 100 ppl decide they all want ice-cream all at the same time but the staff are very friendly and get your oder to you in a timely manner. Thank you to all the wonderful staff and owners for a pleasant visit every time im in. read more

This is a great place to get ice cream! The staff is always friendly and helpful. I brought some people from out of state here and they were patient and showed them the u pique flavors to MI. Overall, a great experience and I will be back! P.S, My favorite flavor is the banana pudding. It is heavenly!!! read more

I've been enjoying ice cream at Mooney since my childhood. By far their new location is the best. The location has ample room to accommodate their customers both inside and out side. And parking is generous. I was there Sunday early evening late September. They had 54 flavors to choose from in the form of shakes, sundaes, in cones or in a cup. I had mint chocolate chip and orange pineapple in a cup. The ice cream was creamy and flavorful. Although the orange pineapple didn't quite taste like it used to. Two scoops in a cup at $5.00 is a bargain. However if you decide to add water, it's a $1.89 charge. read more

Mooney's Ice Cream Store - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Saginaw, Michigan

Excellent ice cream very creamy, much better than small town scoops which is thin and without flavor. They have got to find a way to increase the pace of service. The line moves criminally slow in the evenings, beyond what is acceptable even for a busy place. read more

While visiting Saginaw, we were told to go to Mooney's for some local ice cream. This definitely seemed like a popular spot since the line was almost out the door when we showed up around 7ish. The scoops are huge but they do have different sizes so great for people like me who just wants something sweet after dinner without feeling like I'm eating a 2nd dinner. It's a cute little shop with some tables and chairs inside but people mostly buy it and sit outside. They have a lot of flavors to offer and you really need to get up close to take a look so maybe the line is actually a good thing and gives you time to chose! read more

Food 5/5 Service 2/5 Ambiance 3/5 My family and I come here as a tradition when we visit which is almost every year. Unfortunately, the goth looking lady working here ruined the experience and good memories. She was not friendly and it just seemed like a bother for her us being there. Also, how do they identify one scoop and two? there isn't an actual scooper or measurements especially it seemed to be overpriced now. read more

Superman ice cream alone gives this place a Five star rating. I always get two flavors. One will always be Superman and the others vary. This particular trip, pralines and pecans I believe is the name. BEST ICE CREAM IN NORTH AMERICA! The service is always with a smile which adds value to the parlor. I always tip and they're always appreciative. We enjoyed our ice cream at one of the tables outside of the store. Great vibes as always. But let's be serious, you can enjoy that great flavor during a tornado. read more

By not accepting credit cards, Mooney's Ice Cream does not provide excellence in customer satisfaction and is missing out on its own financial health as a business from an entire demographic of consumers that do not rely on cash systems. Disappointed their ATM machine was down, and I could not make a delicious purchase. read more

This has been the go to place for ice cream since I was a kid! They must be doing something right to be around for as long as they have been. Several flavors of ice cream to choose from as well as other varieties of ice cream treats. In the summers the lines are out the door, but so worth the wait! read more

If i could review this place negative stars, I would. I have lived in Saginaw my whole life when Mooney's had different owners when things ran smoothly. This was my first time visiting this new location and disappointed is an understatement. We waited in line for around 30 minutes which I understand it's the holiday weekend, of course it's going to be busy but that was not the issue. There were four workers there but yet only two would be out while the line was OUT THE DOOR while the other two would disappear and leave the other two to fend for themselves. They were not in a rush at all, they were taking their time as if they did not have any other customers to help. Not to mention I would hear the manager make side comments to the employees that did not seem nice at all. None of them knew what they were doing, took at least 5 minutes to scoop one ice cream. I will never go here ever again which is disappointing because I really loved Mooney's when they had THE RIGHT owners! read more

There was a line but it went fast and was totally worth the wait! Can't wait to visit again!

Ice cream is divine it will be the shop Saginaw needed! Good locational, building was clean.

I have gone to Mooney's for decades!! It is the best ice cream ever! My wife introduced me to Mooney's 45 years ago when I first came to Saginaw ! They have a flavor that is uniquely somehow better than anyone else! read more

This place has been on my list of places to try in saginaw for some time now. I wanted ice cream so I decided to stop here. It was a little hidden to me. Mooney's have a parking area right in front of the store. There was many flavors on the menu. I was not sure what I wanted. I got something that I usually eat which is superman and cookie dough. I got a scoop of each. I did not expect it to be some much ice cream for 1 scoop. You get a lot for you buck. Bring cash read more

I haven't come to this place simply because it's been made known that they only take cash. What people seem to leave out is they have an ATM in the store. You get more than what you pay for. For less than $5, I got like 2 pints of ice cream and had it covered in hot fudge. read more

Our favorite ice cream spot. Huge portions and rich flavor. No nickel and diming with waffle cones and such. Add the great customer service and this place is a real winner. The Mackinac Island Fudge is better than you get on the Island or other Northern Michigan parlors. And Mooney's made Blue Moon famous for a good reason. Check the hours as this place is open till 10 pm in summer months, longer than what Yelp, Google, etc. shows online. read more

So about 730pm on July 23rd. The what I am assuming is the manager was super rude this was the girl in rainbow sports. If it wasn't for being an out of towner and hearing awesome things about the ice cream I would have walked out. She was really hateful and rude definitely not the way you treat paying customers. If there was a way to rate 0 stats then this would be it... Signs all over asking for a review, Well this is the review you never want as a business owner... read more

Great ice cream, really good service. Beware of the large serving sizes. A baby is bigger than a single at most other places.

Well what can I say.. they have ice cream! That's a 5/5 for me! Staff is beyond friendly! Lots of great choices at a decent price! Recommend to anyone that's NOT lactose intolerant. read more

OK their single is more like a double or triple. Cheap too..You can't beat two single (or half gallons...whatever you want to call them) scoops for $6.75. Not even a menage trois with Ben and Jerry are that cheap. Lots of flavors to choose from! Friendly staff too. Pretty sure it is still cash only. read more

Mooney's Ice Cream Store - Ummm single scoop?!?! Totally ok with this. Bumpy cake. O ly came to 6.75 for two "single" scoops - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Saginaw, Michigan

All around good home made ice cream. Local folk say it's one of the top ten ice cream shops in Michigan. Good portions for the cost, a must when nearby. When I'm in the area I try to stop by for a treat, but Mooney's keeps finicky hours which accommodates only few visits. read more

Friendly waitstaff and an exorbitant amount of different flavors to choose from. I'd recommend trying a few to get a feel of what you like. Be warned, though, that the scoops are on the larger side. And my larger...I mean large and in charge. Oh, did I mention that it's also on the cheaper side of things? I definitely had to get the pumpkin pie ice cream since it was in season. Bits of pie crust...pumpkin...yum. Tried a few of their other flavors and all seemed to be solidly produced. That being said, I wasn't able to finish the large sugary quantity of ice cream. Definitely worth stopping in! read more

Mooney's Ice Cream Store - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Saginaw, Michigan

Yesterday I purchased a baby ice cream at Mooney's which comes with two flavors. I am not sure why the person behind the counter mistook it for two separate ice creams. He then charged me double the price even though I repeatedly said that I wanted just one. He then went on to loudly shout at me explaining the math that he charged for two ice creams based on what I wanted. It was a clear mis communication but the way he raised his voice in front of the entire store was very rude and condescending. The person should respect customers and be patient rather than create a scene and embarrass them. It was a trivial issue which could have been resolved in a professional manner. Disappointed with the customer service. read more

I went to get some ice cream at 10 min to nine. On the front of the building, it stated that no more then 10 people in the store at a time. There were already over 15 people not listening to the big ass sign that says no more then 10 people in the store at a time. So, there were 3 other customers that said they had been there for 10 mins before us patiently waiting outside until the number of people gets down less then 10 in the store. Then this big burly man comes out and says his wife won't let anyone else come in because it's after 9:00. We said we were following the rules because his sign says no more than 10 people . He said I know, but we're in a pandemic and since we weren't in the store at 9 nobody's getting served" kinda a really dick move!! By the way, the 10+ people who were in the restaurant, were still going to served even though it was after 9. So now I will tell everyone to get ice cream from Fuzzys from now on at least they don't treat their customers like shit. read more

I have a severe tree nut allergy and they were so nice and helpful! After the decimation of Thrifty's ice-cream in my hometown, I never thought I'd be able to buy affordable ice-cream by the scoop. I WAS WRONG!!! Thank you Saginaw. Mooney's is a small shop that serves ice-cream, shakes, ice-cream cake, etc. The only thing's I've ever ordered are scoops of ice-cream and shakes (for a friend). Inside the store are several tables and booths in case you actually want to sit down and enjoy the ice-cream immediately after purchase. During the holidays, the entire store (inside and out) is decorated. Thanksgiving saw a swarm of Turkeys and other thanksgiving artifacts. For Christmas, snow globes, indoor christmas tree, outdoor blow-up rotating igloo, etc. You have your option of waffle cone or cup. There are also 4 or 5 sizes which range from $1 (I think) to $3.50 for a quart? Not quite sure. I just remember that it's affordable. The banana chocolate shake has received great reviews from my friends. Personally, I'm not a fan of chocolate (although there is an exception. See below) although I understand that this particular combination (along with peanut butter) is heaven for your tongue. There's an option to use either chocolate or vanilla ice-cream. Other than that, an unknown amount of banana (I'm assuming half) and other ingredients are necessary for creating liquid euphoria. I'm normally a vanilla ice-cream person. I've tried other flavors but for some reason, vanilla always sticks out. Mackinaw Island fudge (chocolate with caramel and chocolate chunks) was too rich. Rainbow sherbert too tart. However, I found that the chocolate and almond ice-cream was very tasty, primarily because of the different textures of cream and almonds. Waitresses (no waiters other than Mr. Mooney himself) are VERY easy on the eyes. Also very friendly. Recommendation: EAT! read more

Ok, 2 stars, let me explain... Went there with my wife and 2 daughters to get them ice cream. The Ice cream is great, service is great but.. IT'S 2015 PEOPLE, TAKE CREDIT CARDS!! Very few times do we carry cash, we managed to scrape up enough change out of the car to get a small for both the girls, but they lost out on larger purchases because of being short sighted or cheap for not springing for a credit card machine. You will have more money coming in if you accept more than JUST CASH. read more

I love Mooneys. Their ice cream is great, the atmosphere is that of a good old fashion ice cream store and their workers are friendly. They always have the freshest ice cream.
