This is a long overdue review. This is THE place to go for honest breakfast/lunch comfort food. The family loves coming here, and we never leave disappointed. We've also ordered to-go, and it tastes just as good when you bring it home :) I could sing the praises for all the dishes we've tried, but I'll pick 2. Their buttermilk pancakes are buttery and consistently delicious. And their award-winning chicken & waffles are still my favorite chicken & waffles from anywhere, and I've had my fair share. There are fancier breakfast/brunch spots where you could go to impress your company, but if you want to impress your tastebuds and stomach and heart, don't waste your time at other places and just go to Mil's! :) read more

One thing about me is I love a diner. This is a nice one and I arrived a little after opening. I had plenty of seats to choose from and the booth was comfortable. There was one waitress on staff at the time so service was understandably slower. But I was able to take my time with the menu and figure out what I wanted. I got the Chorizo and eggs with tortillas to make my own breakfast taco. It was great and had good flavor. There was a lot of food. I made a rookie mistake my not including the hash browns in my tacos so heed my warning and add them if you plan on making breakfast tacos. A standard diner with good food and good coffee. read more

Great hole in the wall that makes you feel like family. I've been here a few times. The service has always been the same. Consistently delicious, friendly and attentive. Not once did I ask to fill up my coffee. Shoot I had to tell her to stop, felt the blood pressure going up. The open face biscuit and sausage sandwich with country gravy, hit the right spot. Gravy wasn't salty, pieces of sausage and the has browns were nice and crispy but not burnt. These folks do it right. They have outdoor seating, folks with their dogs outside. Of all the years coming to Milpitas, I've always seen this diner but never bothered to even look it up or try it? I had no idea whatsoever. My wife and I came yesterday morning for breakfast and it was an excellent experience. First off, this place is clean and spotless. There's lots of people dining in from all ages. I saw the servers walking around and speaking to guests. I ordered their biscuit and gravy as well as their chicken & waffles. First off, their biscuit and gravy is flavorful and hardy; it almost had that gravy pot pie flavor. Instantly, I knew the food here at this place was going to be great from just the first item. Now let me talk about the chicken & waffles. This immediately climbed to #1 on my chicken & waffles list. Their chicken is insanely crispy, the honey and butter glaze over the chicken is phenomenal, and the white meat is tender. Their waffle is cakey and even has a crisp to it which is excellent. Everything about it is legit. It's so good, I didn't have to add hot sauce. My wife's Popeyes omelette was also delicious with the spinach and fluffiness. I loved how our waitress kept coming to refill my coffee; my coffee NEVER touched the bottom of the mug. I love Mil's diner and I'll be sure to keep coming back! read more

If there's a wait, then you know it's that great! Came here on a Sunday late morning and waited for a table for two, for about 20 mins. The staff are very welcoming, so much hospitality! I ordered the chicken and waffle. It was STACKED! Best crispy waffle ever. What was even better was the chicken on top. Super crispy outside and then super moist inside. Syrup was already poured on top, I didn't mind it though. It was the right amount, but if I needed more I would've asked for a side of syrup. The place is clean and doesn't need any changes. This place definitely is an old school diner w/ tons of locals that regularly come here. Over the last 2 times we've come here, some of our favorites were the country fried steak (that gravy is so good!!) and London broil. The staff was constantly refilling our cup of coffee (hot) but we decided to try iced coffee the second time around. It was really watered down so I'd probably skip it for next time. I love the food and service here. My go to place when I need a comforting familiar place for brunch. The food is great. Portions are large and the price has been steady all these years. The plush red seats beckon to a time gone by but are in great condition. No rips or duct tape unlike some other diners I've been to. I am always up to try something new each visit. This time I had the all meat 4 egg omelette and the chicken and waffles. My son loved both dishes. The portions were huge and enough for 3 people. We had plenty to take home. Well, this place is crowded of people waiting outside so I have the expectation that it must be very good. However, I am pretty disappointed in regards to the food, the service is pretty good though. We ordered Crab Cake Benedict and Country Fried Steak. The Crab Cake I would say has minimal of crab meat, it is crispy though, the harsh brown is not crispy, not freshly made imo. Often very busy on a weekend, we came for brunch to kill some time after leaving our dog at the vet. It was about a 25min wait iirc. There was indoor and outdoor seating available, we requested indoor seating but would have gotten seated sooner if we were open to outdoor seating. Parking lot is always crowded on a weekend. The staff seemed understaffed and super busy, but everyone was pretty nice. Food was good, classic diner options. I traded one of my biscuits with gravy for my boyfriend's pancake. It was so fluffy and delicious. The biscuits and gravy was good, not overly salty like some places. Overall this is still a very good option, we like it. read more

Didn't discover this hole in the wall place with spectacular service until recently. It's a fairly small home-y shop that has all the fix-ins and delicious American comfort breakfast! My omelette was very fluffy and the steak pieces were very filling. The country fried steak was also pretty big, my friend couldn't finish it, same with the pancake! We were frequently checked in by the staff, and I believe he was the owner/manager(?) made frequent conversations with a smile, so we felt welcomed. The French toast that came with the omelette had a long hair on it. I didn't say anything since I don't like attention or make a big fuss with other customers around. The fries tasted as if the cook dropped some of them on the ground or poured sand on some of them. The omelette was alright but I had better. The server brought the bill when I wasn't even half done. Either wait until customers ask for it or when they are done with their food. The waiter was good, greeted me at the door and filled my drink when I was low. I won't be back. read more

The order took 5-10 min longer than the time they told me over the phone, so I had to wait a bit. This place is a joke they tell everyone that walks in it's a 25 minute wait and that's not the case. They told me 25 minutes. I waited 40 minutes and never got called. They called two parties that came way after me. A party of 5 and a party of three so they totally skipped my name. I went down the street to black bear where the service is always fast. read more

Today was a pretty terrible day of service. I'm not too sure what happened but everyone seemed to be in a bad mood. There was a young girl sitting near the register rolling her eyes at everyone. I'm assuming that the older woman was her grandmother and she was giving an incredible amount of attitude towards her grandmother. One of the waitress seemed irritated and threw the Togo boxes near the waffle makers almost knocking over the sauce bottle nearby. My food was ready and in their Togo boxes pretty quick but it sat on the counter for 23 minutes. I understand that everyone was a little busy but at one point there were more people waiting outside for a seat than actually sitting in the restaurant. Mil's Diner is your standard, down-n-dirty, greasy spoon type of place. A couple of co-workers wanted to eat here on their lunch period, (which is 10am). We walked in and got seated right away. The menu has all your regular diner type of items. I was in the mood for an omelette but restaurants NEVER have the exact omelette that I want. The closest thing is a Denver omelette but I don't like ham. So I asked the waitress if they could substitute bacon for ham. She cheerfully said, "sure". I also asked for Cheddar Cheese. Again she said, "sure". Love it. It was a Friday so I thought, "Why not have a Mimosa?" I asked the waitress for one and she said, "Do you want it strong?" This time it was my turn to say, "sure". I assumed that they would serve the standard type of Mimosa, (in a Champagne flute), but it came in a beer mug. And was it strong? Yes, indeed it was. Yikes. Sometimes I get a side of linguica. The linguica deserves it's own review (I'm part Portuguese and my DNA sings when I bite into it) but I'm writing about the waffle today. Get the waffle with strawberries. Order it now. Do not get it with whipped cream, do not sully it with syrup or butter (the syrup is heated and tastes like real maple from the tree syrup, the whipped butter is delightful). The berries are neither sugared nor in a glaze but instead are naturally sweet. I don't know where they get their strawberries or linguica from, but kudos to their buyers. The waffle is served hot. It is delicately crispy on the outside and airy inside. It has a bit of a yeasty tang and it just the right level of sweet. I savor each bite. The service is phenomenal, friendly and professional. Today I had put my napkin on my lap and the owner came by to top off my coffee while putting my silverware on a fresh napkin. They keep the booths spotless and in great repair -- no duct tape on a split for Mil's. I am not a coffee drinker and still recommend the coffee as rich, strong, and just the right among edge of that bitter coffee tang. Again, the linguica is a dream. Solid diner in the South Bay with quick friendly service. I was meeting an old college buddy after 20+ years. He was visiting family in Los Gatos, so we picked Mil's as it was halfway between Pleasanton and where he was staying. Mil's is in a strip mall with a huge lot, with easy access to 880 and 680. Parking was easy. We arrived within minutes of each other, and grabbed an outdoor table, then ordered coffee and a couple of brunch items. I opted for Mil's #2: chicken souvlaki skewer with three over easy eggs, rye toast, and a side of fresh fruit. The food was served quickly. The chicken skewer was flavorful but a bit dry, the eggs and rye toast perfect. I was hungry and polished off my plate. He enjoyed his as well. The conversation flowed and so did the coffee - before long, it was time to say goodbye. Thank you Mil's for hosting our long overdue reunion. Will be back. read more

Came back here post-Covid and the meal was absolutely wonderful. Me and the hubby were able to get a seat inside (they offer inside and outside dining). And had ordered eggs benedict with hashbrowns and waffle breakfast with two eggs, bacons and sausage. The coffee was smooth and not too strong (perfect for me) and the food was on point. Funny that the waiter thought the egg benedict was my order. My waffle took a while to come out because the first one burnt. The lady apologized and said she'd make me a new batch. Last time I went here was Pre-COVID, but I have fond memories of this place. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles, because the chicken is freshly fried and pairs well with their waffles. Beware - there's a longer wait if you order more than two chicken and waffles at your table, as they only have two waffle makers running at a time. Regardless, it's huge pieces of juicy chicken with a justified price point. The staff are really the gems of this place. I was a regular customer at this place until last Saturday. I went there and asked for a table for two, as I always do. I waited for a table because sometimes there's a wait, and when they finally seated me, I ordered for two. Then I called my wife, and she came from her lunch break to have breakfast with me. We do this because she only has 40 minutes for her lunch break, so the food is already ordered by the time she arrives. She gets there, waits for her food, and we have our meal together at this place. This time, I asked for a table, and the man at the entrance simply wouldn't seat me. Another couple arrived, and he seated them. I asked the waitress, who knows us, if she could seat me since there were several empty tables. She spoke to the man at the entrance, and he said, "I won't give him a table until I see the other person here." She explained that I was going to order for both of us and that we were regular customers, and he simply said no, he wouldn't give me a table. That's why I'm giving them this review, for denying me a table and service. Sometimes they've given us the wrong food, sometimes they've brought the wrong drink, or we've ordered something while we were eating and it never arrived, but we considered those minor mistakes. But refusing to give me a table when there were about six empty tables is unacceptable. I traveled half an hour to get to the place, and they denied me service. read more

A girls brunch where to go. I'm always looking for a good diner and I love the old school diner that have been around for long time. This is a great place for breakfast lunch and dinner with an old school vibe. We ordered the Santa Fe omelette it was fluffy and filling it came with a side pancake. I had the waiter create a hash brown scramble eggs with veggies which was yummmm. Everything turned out, pretty good. The pancake was not too our liking. It was pretty dense and chewy not sure why. The place has an old style to it with padded booths and counter service with stools. The wait staff was very polite, attentive and took good care of us. As we discussed and noticed it wasn't lunch time they informed us that we could order lunch if we liked. That made us extra happy. This diner felt like home, as it has a lot of regulars who have been coming here for years. The staff knew them. TL;DR The food was delicious and portions were great for the price. Mil's got the awards they have displayed for a reason. The staff is friendly with great service. I would highly recommend. -- Stumbled upon this diner trying to find a breakfast in the area and when we arrived, there was a line out the door at 10:30ish on a Saturday. There is booth seating and counter seating available. We waited for about 15 mins until we were seated and right away we got waters and coffees. Shouts outs to the staff because they all worked very cohesively together. Crab Cake Benedict 10/10 Can't go wrong ordering this. My friend said this crab cake set a new standard for crab cakes. Mimosa 10/10 They don't serve you the mimosa in a dinky stemmed glass. You get a mug and I saw how much OJ they add, its like a 2:1 ratio of champagne and OJ. It also doesn't taste like they use a low grade champagne. Denver Omelet 7/10 Id order another omelet from here but I will say their Denver wasn't really what I was expecting technique-wise. Came here Sunday morning around noon and the place is already packed! The wait was 30 mins for a party of two. We ordered the ham breakfast (ham, sunny side up eggs for me, hash browns and toasts) and Joe's omelette (also comes with hash browns and toasts). The portion size was definitely really generous, the food hit the spot, but we weren't able to finish everything. Now as for the wait/service, would encourage the owner to staff up a bit as the waiters/waitresses were running around with their heads cut off, doing their best to be attentive with the customers! (Hence I give the 4 stars for their effort). I observed the same with the kitchen staff as the orders seem to be backlogged.
