Family came to visit on a Saturday morning and we decided to come here on a whim. Outdoor patio was busy when we arrived but indoor tables were plentiful. Establishment is very cute and clean. They had flags up for the World Cup and many posters advertising local events, which I love. Our service was lackluster as it took awhile for us to be attended to, orders not from our table kept coming to our table, and I'm pretty sure one of our meals was forgotten about, but I'll give them grace and chalk it up to them being busy and short-staffed (not confirmed by them, just an observation by me). Despite that, everyone was friendly and very helpful. What saves them is the food. They have an extensive menu that makes you want to come back to try everything. Despite the wait, everything that came out was hot and tasty. I'm a big bennie girl, so I got Gigi's Favorite and it was delightful. The garlic-grilled ciabatta was a wonderful twist on the English muffin. I'm not a big fan of breakfast potatoes (they call them country-style hashbrowns on the menu FYI) were so flavorful and cooked extra crispy, as requested. My partner got the Berkeley breakfast bowl (not pictured) with potatoes and though it was tasty according to him, the ratio between protein to potato was dismal. There are many things I want to try on the menu (like their pancakes and world famous coffeecake) and I'm happy to want to come back to do so. Came here for the first time and it was such a wonderful experience! Pretty empty on a Tuesday morning but the inside was super clean and nice. We ordered Chorizo scramble, Mountain View omelette, and Pollo supreme quesadilla. Everything was pretty yummy, tasty standard breakfast. They have so many options and customizations, you can literally have anything any way you want. Our server was super friendly and attentive and gave us some free coffee cake to try because we were curious! First time coming in for breakfast. It's surprisingly spacious inside, since it looks like an old victorian house on the outside. It has stairs to enter the building. Parking is on the street and metered. Inside is bright, with ample seating. We were greeted immediately, and seated quickly. I really liked the set up, and the menu is surprisingly diverse. Our waitress was very friendly, and she said they have a in house Cinnamon-Orange blended tea, served hot or cold. We both ordered a hot cup each, it was bold, and we loved it. We ordered the Grits breakfast and the Chorizo Scramble with the Cherry Almond Coffeecake (seasonal). We actually got to try the Bluberry Coffeecake too. Both were fresh and light, so good! As a well seasoned and very fair yelper, please take my comment literally. I don't hand out undeserved five stars unless rightfully earned. This new Hobees location popped up about a year ago practically in my back yard. In the last two weeks, my partner and I have eaten brunch here twice. The first time we ordered an ABLT and the Stanford Cardinal omelett. We mistakenly ordered alternate sides and not the coffee cake. The sides were amazing, but we had no idea how good the blueberry coffee cake was. The ambiance here is inviting, bright, homey... decorated with mural art and plants. The patio is huge and open. Everything is tidy, clean and put together. The service has not disappointed. I've personally had interactions with Austin, Zoe and Daisy. All three are passionate about their job, friendly, personal and attentive. There's no room to complain regarding service. Food- the second visit we ordered the Gouda Morning Grits (we didn't know what to expect) and South of the Border omelette with coffee cake as our side. As mentioned, ABLT and Stanford omlette first visit. Let me summarize- we are blown away at the creativity and palette of the menu maker(s). We've been to all the brunch places in San Jose, not expecting to be blown away, but this place is different. They experiment and perfect flavor profiles that mesh together like a story. Seriously, the Gouda grits dish had my partner and I talking about it then entire time, and also on our walk home. The Stanford omlette was perfect and what we wanted. The green chile sauce was amazing. The other two dishes were also elevated from the run of the mill Bills Cafe standards. The only hurdle to even slightly mention might be parking, but I've lived long enough in San Jose to improvise, adapt and overcome. Parking lots can cost as much as building rent in per saw footage cost. In order to keep prices as reasonable as possible in today's economy, I don't want an upcharge of 5$ in my food for convenient parking. Need to walk off that superior coffee cake anyway. Price points are well below other notable brunch establishments. We will be repeat customers. There will be lines out the door. Don't look this place over and try it before the waits reflect the quality of the food. This brunch place, and staff, have truly earned my five stars. read more

Good for groups and families. We opted for outdoor seating due to noise level, but the indoor seating was cozy and sweet as well. I visited a Hobbee's once a long time ago, way before I was a Yelper, so I had forgotten my experience. I treated this as a first time visit. I really enjoyed the hashbrown upgrade options the menu comes with - I did the garlic upgrade and was thoroughly happy with the amount of garlic they added. However, I will say, what I got was potatoes, not hashbrowns. There's a difference, and I was hoping for hashbrowns. I got the one benedict option - happy to see that on the menu. But was kind of let down with the consistency of the muffin and toppings. I got the Florentine - that could have been the issue. My partner had the breakfast quesadilla and he enjoyed it. Coffee cake was apple flavored, and it was fantastic. The place is very bright and while it was beautiful outside, we did not opt for patio seating. The service was friendly and warm - though I will agree with other reviewers that it's slow. Came here because it's a new brunch spot and I wanted to check it out. We got the salmon eggs bennie and the sweet potato breakfast plate. Service was a bit slow in terms of refilling water and getting the check but they just opened so maybe it was just one of those days. The coffee cake was superrrr soft. I can see why people mention the coffee cake. It was not too sweet not too dense. Very yummy. 10/10 The rest of the breakfast was not that amazing. The eggs Benedict was lack luster compared to other places I've tried. The sauce was too much, and the capers definitely made the balance all over the place. I've had cooked fish in my eggs Benedict before but this one didn't feel like it was part of the meal. Would pass on this next time. It's been awhile since I've been to Hobee's. Eons actually. So, I was happy to see them recently open up a location in downtown San Jose in the former Ludwig's German Table site. I love this location with the Victorian house and spacious tiled patio. We were greeted and seated very quickly and our waitress Zoe was very friendly! We ordered a Classic Eggs Benedict, Turkey Avocado Tomato Sandwich and Danny's Chicken Pasta. The Eggs Benedict was very average and did not have much flavor. Everything was cooked well - poached eggs, hollandaise sauce but the bun was hard and overcooked and it just did not have any flavor. The potatoes were good! I'm bummed one of us didn't order the chocolate chip banana coffee cake! Danny's Chicken Pasta was an unusual dish. It's definitely not an Italian dish. It reminded me of when your at home and you start throwing different ingredients together to make some kind of comfort food and throw it in a bowl to eat in front of the TV. Was the food great? Not really. It was just okay. However, I still like the atmosphere, good vibe and the service was good. If I had never been to a Hobee's before I would have given it 3.5 stars. I've been to Hobee's before, but this was my first time at this new location. Service was great and the staff was attentive and kind. It's well lit inside and has a great overall vibe. I ordered the "Gigi's favorite" eggs benedict and was a little underwhelmed. Sadly the yolks were fully cooked for me and everyone else at my table who ordered the eggs benedict. I would have loved a runny yolk. The bread was also really thick. I also tried their famous blueberry coffee cake. It came out warm, with a dollop of butter on top. We were visiting my sister-in-law in SJ for the weekend. She is vegan, and this restaurant had options for her as well as for my two kids under 10. The kids' menu looked appealing, so we decided to walk over for a late breakfast. The waitress was, as the kids say these days, "mid." We did get our food, but the number of mistakes she made is why I am rating this place a 2. She did not listen to my SIL's order at all. Everything my SIL asked to be put inside her burrito was instead served on the side. That was completely not what she requested. I also ordered the kids' Holiday pancakes, which are supposed to come with whipped cream and sprinkles. When it arrived, it only had sprinkles thrown on top and no whipped cream. We checked the menu to confirm, and it should have included whipped cream. We had to ask another nearby server to bring it out. Later, our waitress brought the side meats I ordered. It was supposed to be ham and four pieces of bacon, but she brought 2 slices of ham. I had to clarify that it was bacon and ham, and she then took both plates of ham away. Once again, we had to ask the nearby server to make sure the ham and four strips of bacon were brought out correctly. Had we not said something, I am fairly sure we would have received only one strip of bacon. Our waitress also rarely checked on us and was not friendly or smiling. Overall, it was not a pleasant service experience. The food itself tasted fine, but the repeated mistakes with our orders were very off-putting. We did not get her name, but she had lavender hair. If the chef does not know how to make this sandwich, you should take it off your menu. I'm not sure what I was served. Burnt bread that was steamed? Very odd taste as well. My friend had the french toast and had to ask the waitress for butter. The coffee was luke warm and I had to ask if she could make a new pot. We will not go back. Just not a pleasant experience. This is an old, familiar chain, but new to this location, and it had been many years since I have been to any of the Hobee's. The service was pretty good, with one hiccup, when my husband's order was mixed up. So he had to wait for his food longer than I did. He had the BLT with Avocado on Sourdough, and he chose black bean chili as a side. He ended up eating it all. I had the California bowl, with sweet potatoes, 2 eggs, and greens. It was good. We shared a piece of blueberry coffee cake for dessert, which they are known for. It's a huge slice, so plenty for 2 people, with a dollop of butter melting on top; it was pretty good. One 5 stars is for the salty butter. Of course it was maybe just salt and butter, but this salty butter was still good enough to make everything else on the plate taste uniquely special. (Note: The salty butter is not shown in my picture because it came on top of the muffin cake thing.) We received our food promptly but they failed to bring our toast and coffee cake that literally is supposed to come with the food. When we finally flagged down our server, she just made excuses about them being overloaded in the kitchen (doesn't take long to make toast) rather than apologizing. Finally brought the remaining items but never brought the hot drink we had ordered so again had to ask for it. Again, the server said the bar was backed-up. Mind you, this is not a large location so how backed up can you be with 20 guests? The manager completing avoided us and we had to continually ask for more coffee and water. After a few months of waiting we FINALLY had a chance to check out the newest Hobees. Such a great addition to our neighborhood and we're excited for the beer garden to open! To start, the staff were all incredibly generous, friendly, and beyond accommodating to our pup. We ended up sitting outside in the patio being that it was such a nice morning but the inside looked very modern and cozy. Food price, portion, and quality were also great! Zero complaints and we're looking forward to returning in the near future. I had a great breakfast this morning at Hobee's. The restaurant itself is bright and clean and fresh. The food was excellent, especially the tower of blueberry coffee cake that came with my omelette. But more than any of that, the service was outstanding. Marcos was my server and he was knowledgeable and friendly and attentive and the support staff kept my coffee full and my table clear.
