This review is for this location only. I've been to pretty much every location and although they are all mostly this way, I've been disappointed a few times (I'm looking at you Bill's of Santa Clara). Everything at Bill's is almost always perfectly on point. If it isn't you can feel free to tell them and they will make it right. Your experience will almost always be invariant. In this sense, and this sense only, it is like McDonald's. The food here is one of the last remaining restaurants that offers what I call value. You will walk away without feeling cheated and wanting to return. The service is impeccable. The service staff is mostly male (maybe entirely???) but incredibly accommodating and warm. I am a regular and they do treat me as such, but I've never observed anything less than genuine dedication from the entire staff even towards the obviously first time patrons. The ambiance is great and maintains a classic American diner feel but the option to eat outside really sets it apart. There's heaters set at the appropriate level on colder days. You won't regret choosing this location for breakfast or brunch any day of the week. One small addendum: The parking sitch isn't great here so you might have to park in the neighborhood when it is really busy and walk a little bit but it's a short walk and it's worth it. read more

I've been coming here for years with my family but today was unfortunately the last. Came at 9:00am on a Sunday morning, sat on the peaceful patio along with a few other patrons. Right when our food arrives, a party of 3 sit next to us with two dogs. From the start, the dogs are angered by another dog on the patio, both start yapping and barking almost non stop through the meal, owner barely intervening. Others patrons are annoyed and I even hear one of the staff say in Spanish "these dogs are pretty bad." 1/4 through our meal and it is ruined by the non stop barking, the entitled owner not doing a single thing about it. The staff is looking on concerned but with no intervention. I'm rushing through my meal at this point because I just want to pay and leave. Manager comes over and I ask him why they are allowing these people to stay and disrupt all of the paying customers and he just says "we allow dogs, I don't know" and shrugs his shoulders (he should DEFINITELY not be a "manager"). So you just let obnoxious dogs sit on the patio barking incessantly not giving a single care about the rest of us?! That's insane. $40 wasted on a meal that we couldn't even enjoy or finish due to the weak management not having consideration for other guests. Dog friendly patio means exactly that! FRIENDLY AND NOT DISRUPTIVE!! If you come here and sit on the patio, just know it is dog friendly BUT even if the dogs are misbehaved and the owners are terrible and entitled, it doesn't matter and neither do you. read more

Such a nice place. I usually go to Denny's but realized I need to go to a real brunch place. My friend took me here and I got the meat lover's omelette. I usually get hash brown but decided to go with country fried potatoes. I figure mixed it up a little and I'm so glad I did. They didn't skimp on the meats which is a plus on my book. You can do the "half" entrees to try more items like the crab cakes egg Benedict (my favorite) or side of mini pancakes. I usually park in the downtown Willow Glen parking structure and stroll over. This time, on a Sunday around noon, there was a 10 minute wait for a party of 2. This location is always bustling, but luckily a good amount of people moving in and out, so the wait is never terribly long. I always get the Bill's Original Skillet and sub the toast with a pancake. They've recently had the blueberry lemon pancake as a special, so I opted for that one. The service is always quick but attentive. I came after a hike so was ravenous, and the skillet always does an amazing job of making you full - a great portion size! Such a home-y vibe to a classic breakfast dish. This is my second time getting the blueberry lemon pancake, and it is oh so delicious! Love how it's not too sweet, there's plenty of blueberry chunks, and a classic lemon flavor. And I always love their pancake butter, so easy to spread! You're not going to get the most trendy or most unique new dishes from Bill's, but you get the consistency every time. Classic Brunch spot with multiple Bay Area locations. You definitely can't go wrong with what they serve. Highly recommend their skillets and eggs benedicts with homemade hash browns. They also have unlimited black coffee that they refill in your mug! They're speedy (less than 10 minutes for our food to be prepared) with great, friendly and efficient staff. Wait times can be a little long as this location is a little smaller than others, but I do enjoy the patio dining. I tried Bill's twice a few years ago and wasn't impressed with their egg breakfasts. They seemed a little bland to me. Today I decided to DoorDash breakfast and ordered the Bill's Original Skillet with scrambled eggs and country potatoes, hold the green peppers. My food arrived surprisingly fast and was nice and warm. Unfortunately, about half of the country potatoes were burned (the photos only show a couple pieces, but there was much more). This is the second time I've gotten burned country potatoes at a Willow Glen breakfast restaurant so I'm wondering is that an intentional thing? I don't care for burned food. The ham was chopped into tiny little pieces and I had to dig around to find it. There were too many overcooked, mushy tomatoes that I ended up picking out. I have seen several Bill's Cafe around the areas I usually go to and have been curious about trying it. However, it's always busy any time I'm up early enough on the weekends to try it so it hasn't happened in the many years I've been here. I finally was able to try it with my bf a few weekends ago. We came here on Sunday for brunch - my bf dropped me off at the entrance and then he went to find parking. Amazingly - there was only 1 party ahead of us AND my bf got parking right away. I was sure we would a hard time finding parking and have to wait a while to be seated. How lucky! After we were seated, someone came by and poured the bf some coffee right away. I opted for water and orange juice instead. After looking through the menu, I got the mini pancakes and bf got an omelet with just egg whites. The food came out pretty quickly and we had a good time chatting about random stuff and listening to the very loud guest a few tables over. My mini pancakes were a lot more than I thought and I ended up taking half of them home to finish. They were very fluffy and were great - the sausages that came with them balanced out the overall sweetness. The orange juice was a bit of a let down - but not bad as far as orange juice goes, I guess. My bf enjoyed his omelet and toast. It was also nice that he didn't have to ask for a refill on his coffee - service was very efficient. I would probably come by again if I didn't have to wait since the service was great. 12/22/23 We are back again at Bill's Cafe, but in San Jose this time! Bill's Cafe is super popular brunch place so definitely utilize the yelp waitlist feature. Zach, Coco and I took a 30 minute drive down to San Jose. Zach dropped Coco and I off while he went to go look for parking. He managed to find a spot 2 blocks away which wasn't too bad considering how packed the restaurant already was. Once I checked in, they gave us an outside table (they are dog friendly!). Here's what we got: - Guava mimosa (me) - Bloody Mary (his) - Fried chicken benedict (me) - Crab cake benedict (his) - Gravy and biscuits to share The staff are very pleasant and friendly. My guava mimosa came in a huge bowl and also unfortunately had a hair in it. I quickly told our waiter that I'd like a new one since I was definitely not going to drink the one with a hair in it. He apologized and had a new one brought out to me in a couple of minutes. All of the food came out together in about 10 minutes. As our waiter was laying the plates down, we realized we were going to have trouble finishing everything since the portions are huge! The country potatoes were delicious! Hash browns are fresh with a slight crunch as you bite into them. The fried chicken benedict was super good and definitely a must try. The sauce that accompanied it was really yummy and has a small kick of spice to it. And the eggs were cooked to perfection. I had a small bite of the crab cake and that tasted great as well. The biscuits were soft, a little dry but dipping them in the gravy solved that matter. We ended up finishing our main dishes and had some potatoes and biscuits leftover. Classic place for brunch! They were busy on a Sunday midday--it was about a 20 minute wait. Service was great and the food arrived pretty quickly considering how busy they were. California Benedict (4/5) was great! I appreciate that I got a good amount of avocado. Can't go wrong with this one :) The cinnamon pancakes (4/5) were good as well. It had some nice crispy parts from the cinnamon sugar. I recommend splitting this with someone else because the sweetness can be a lot. My bf got the bill's original skillet and he enjoyed this as well. I tried it and thought it was good. The potatoes were a bit too mushy for my taste though.
