Cool little coffee shop. I stopped by and got one of their specialty matcha drinks. The drink was pretty good but I dont know if it was worth the price. If I am in the area I'd probably swing by and try one of their coffee options.

If a Spanish latte is on the menu, I'm ordering! Voltaire's is great and very well balanced. We also ordered a Nutella latte, while I'm not super crazy about Nutella, this drink was very well done. Such perfect balance of sweetness in the latte. Friendly staff, welcomed us in and our order was delivered quickly. I love the decor, seeing the roasting equipment

Le cafe est tres beau. Matcha est correct mais tres mignon pour presentation. Le Meadow coutait $10 et le sandwich Caprese $12. Le cafe est propre.

This is an excellent coffee shop that's getting everything right! The small cafe is located in Downtown San Jose. When we walked in, we were immediately given a warm greeting. They had a beautiful display case of baked treats and we ordered the ham and cheese croissants. They have a small toaster oven and are able to warm them up. The croissant was really good! So buttery with a nice gritty mustard inside. For a drink, I ordered my usual matcha and was pleased to see them using a chasen to prepare the powder. It was very well made! Only adding sweetener if you'd like. The matcha powder shines. They had some seating available so it was easy to enjoy before jumping on the road. Of all the coffee shops in the area, this place felt like the one that was making craft coffee and drinks. You know how coffee shops seem to either be focused on the sugary drinks and aesthetic or they're purists focused on drinks without the extra stuff. This is the later.

While on a visit to downtown San Jose I always like to come to this spot. It's old fashioned, classy feel is a place I like to sip my coffee. They play slow, smooth jazz music in the background that helps me reset from the busy atmosphere outside. I come here mainly for the pour over coffee. Not a lot of places do a pour over, so this place is special to me. This morning I felt like I needed a nice, toasty medium roast to wake me up. I ordered their Brazil, which has a nice nutty taste. The service here is always friendly and helpful. I'm not in San Jose that often, but I really like to come here when I am.

Good fresh coffee, cozy tables to rest or work at, and a curated collection of pastries and breakfast fare. I love this part of town as there are some great places to stop in for coffee, etc. The baristas are cordial and busy. Voltaire Coffee Roasters is great. Though the croissants and other sweets looked fantastic, I needed something with a bit more heft. And, while they have good options such as bagels, and avocado toast, I was drawn to a slice of Quiche Lorraine. Though I am far from a quiche expert, I was very happy with the one I had here. The crust was flakey, buttery, and had its crunch intact (even warmed up). The insides filled the bill, too. Got my eggs, bacon etc delivered in a very tasty way. It's an independent shop, so don't be surprised when you ask for a refill for that pour-offer, and discover that what you're buying is in fact a second cup. All good. Glad to make it here.

I love you can taste the effort in every cup! I can always count on my coffee to be delicious! There may have been one time I was given hot when ordered ice but they always make it right! I like it's never too busy and they are fast when making online orders. They have healthy breakfast options and pastries to choose from. I love it's on my way to work! Always in and out with delicious coffee

    Strawberry sparkler and Spanish Latte

Came here on a lunch break on a weekday! I ordered the iced Spanish latte with cinnamon, which was a latte sweetened with condensed milk. Cinnamon is optional upon order and part of the original recipe! I wanted to try something more authentic and true to form. My friend is lactose intolerant, so he opted to purchase the strawberry sparkler made with in-house puree. I really enjoyed the Spanish latte. It's sweet and not commonly offered, at least at the cafes I frequent! This is definitely a hit and is relatively easy to make. This was the perfect boost of mid-day caffeine I needed to be productive. The strawberry sparkler was also really yummy, I enjoyed the tartness and carbonation. They got the sugar level right on this one, we were a bit nervous since we didn't ask if it was customizable at this location. Overall recommend and would come back here again!

Voltaire is a cute and trendy little coffee shop! There is some seating too, which is nice. I ordered a vanilla latte which wasn't too sweet, and I also tried both the blueberry and carrot muffins. The blueberry one was by far my favorite, and probably one of the better muffins I've had from a coffee shop. My drink also came out fairly quick despite there being a line.

Voltaire Coffee is definitely worth the stop, even though parking can be a bit of a headache. Finding a spot takes some effort and patience, but once you're inside, it all makes sense. The coffee is consistently great, the quality stands out, and the atmosphere makes it a place I'm willing to go out of my way for. Parking may not be easy, but the coffee is good enough to make the effort every time.

I got the iced Spanish latte and it was so good. I also got the yogurt parfait and it was also so yummy

Chia Pudding Cup Yogurt Parfait Cup

Tried the dubai chewy cookie and it was delicious. The marshmallow-to-filling ratio felt well balanced, giving it a chewy exterior and a crunchy, flavorful center. It wasn't overly sweet, which made it easy to enjoy. Would definitely recommend you grab one while it's available! Also, got my chia pudding and yogurt parfait cups that are always a convenient grab and go especially for the work day!

    Avocado and Egg Crostini
    Ms. Lala L.

Still my favorite place and they have good food/snacks to eat while drinking your coffee. It's very chill and Lowkey inside which I like + the coffee is good. The staff are nice and they have good napkins. They are not cheap when it comes to the avocado crostini they do not skimp on the avocado slices. Ask for extra or heavy cream cheese. The Spanish latte hot with half oat milk is my absolute favorite and it's also very good iced but not as sweet cold. They have great coffee here I just hate the location parking is very very bad, there are usually no parks available and I have to illegally park in the red just to get my coffee. I wish they had a designated lot. It's hard to visit them often as parking is a hassle and pretty frustrating.

Parking in the area can be a little tricky and it is paid parking, but that's pretty common for most downtown areas. The banana cream felt lacking as well. Even after mixing the cream top with the matcha, it felt unsatisfying and not enough banana flavor. There was a mix of people studying, working, and chatting with friends; it's a very lively community spot. Despite how chaotic it was, the space was generally clean and the service was great. The cashier made sure to get our names and address us by them. The decor is beautiful, feeling intentionally designed. I thought it was really cool that they have a slow coffee bar area specifically for pour overs (I think) where tech isn't allowed, so people are just supposed to sit and enjoy their coffee. I've never seen that before in a coffee shop. The menu is extensive. Since it was later in the day, the baked goods were half off, which was a nice surprise. I got a blueberry latte and an Asian fusion focaccia bread. Blueberry latte - I liked this! The blueberry flavor was subtle and not overly sweet or artificial tasting. It added a light fruity note to the coffee without overpowering it. Fusion focaccia bread - This was tasty, but I felt the original price was steep ($12). My piece was around 6" x 3". The shiitake mushroom flavor was strong and I loved the addition of scallions and Chinese sausage sprinkled throughout the bread. Overall, this is such a cool addition to coffee culture in the South Bay. It feels like shop from a big city like SF, NYC, or Chicago instead of little ol' SJ. Parking is close, but you will need to pay after 90 minutes (which can get pricey if you plant there). I want to call out that the decor of Playbook has not changed much from that of Voyager's resident there. The only big difference is the vinyl that you get your drinks out of (which is a small change). When you get to Playback, there is a kiosk located near the front entry to order drinks. While this is convenient and typical for drink places, I do think it removes the homey feel to cafes that you get when you can interact with their baristas, and the layer of community is a bit disconnected. While I was there, I ordered the Teddy Graham latte to try out since it seemed like one of their staple drinks when I did my research. The drink itself was good, toasted, with a nice subtle graham flavor. I would say though for $9 per drink, it was overpriced. Overall, to be honest, this is a good area to work, and study with friends, I would come back here for this alone. I would think of the extra drink cost as work from home fee/tax. :)
