Quick Coffee Date My friend brought me to Voltaire for a quick coffee date, and I'm so glad she did! It's a smaller coffee shop, so seating is limited, but they have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the space is still really nice and inviting. The service was straight to the point. The staff didn't say much, but they were helpful and answered my questions when I needed them to. The coffee I ordered was perfect! I like my coffee strong and a little on the sweeter side, and they got it just right. But my absolute favorite thing to order is the chia seed pudding! I've come back many mornings just for that alone. The granola on top is my favorite part. If they sold that granola in the coffee shop, I'd probably buy it every week! Good coffee, good chia pudding, and a cute little spot for a coffee date. I'll definitely keep coming back!
Cute interior with nice options to choose from. I got the Spanish Latte with an extra double shot which was a good choice because the latte was still pretty sweet with the addition. If you prefer your lattes to be lightly sweetened I recommend getting less sweet. Overall I was pretty happy with the flavor and would come back again.
Absolutely horrible. Watered down garbage cold brew. Sick and tired of these coffee shops selling water for $7.
We needed fast breakfast and a pick me up for the last day of Fanime, which is the Memorial Day Monday, so a lot of other businesses were not open or were not open that early yet, but we saw Voltaire Coffee Roasters on our way to the con. They had some Fanime specials for the con (katsu and egg salad sandwiches, spam musubi), seasonal drinks, of course coffees and teas, and non caffeinated drinks, as well as some food too (heated up pastries, both sweet and savory). There's a restroom with a code and a couple seats and tables with outlets to charge your devices. Service was welcoming and efficient especially after the crowds started to pick up. I got the: 1) Egg Salad Sando: -You can tell these were handmade in store. They had cute washi tape to hold the packaging together. -Solid egg salad sandwich. Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. Perfect for an anime con next door. 2) Cappuccino: -I got this no sugar and sugar free and it came out with some pretty latte art. I thought it was mostly ok and boyfriend thought so too, but after several sips and when it was too late since we really had to get to the con, it just became too disgustingly sweet for him and he had to throw it away. 3) Yuzu Fresh Fruit Sparkler: -Yuzu puree with sparkling soda water. -Refreshing and not bad, but even after mixing this was a bit sweeter than what I would have liked and again, in our rush to leave, we couldn't really get this adjusted. I ended up pouring most of it in a water bottle to enjoy later and put in my bag. But ended up not finishing it in the end. Maybe next year I'll try again or just stick to the food stuffs.
I got the iced vanilla latte and it was perfectly made! The syrup to espresso to milk ratio is perfect. I can tell the beans were fresh. It's a small little shop on the corner, not a lot of sitting moreso grab and go. There's public parking on the streets but unfortunately the lots around you have pay. Highly recommend them!
If a Spanish latte is on the menu, I'm ordering! Voltaire's is great and very well balanced. We also ordered a Nutella latte, while I'm not super crazy about Nutella, this drink was very well done. Such perfect balance of sweetness in the latte. Friendly staff, welcomed us in and our order was delivered quickly. I love the decor, seeing the roasting equipment
They are serving The Best coffee in down town San Jose! It has been a while that I got a copy from them as I hardly ever go to downtown San Jose. Happen to be around and felt that I have to grab their coffee. I ordered pecan latte and flatwhite with oat milk and LOVE IT! I sometimes grab their beans too so that I can drink coffee at home. I got my coffee pretty fast (barista was so kind) and was able to sit down a little bit, enjoying the weather (it was raining in the morning which was perfect for coffee :))
Cool little coffee shop. I stopped by and got one of their specialty matcha drinks. The drink was pretty good but I dont know if it was worth the price. If I am in the area I'd probably swing by and try one of their coffee options.
This is an excellent coffee shop that's getting everything right! The small cafe is located in Downtown San Jose. When we walked in, we were immediately given a warm greeting. They had a beautiful display case of baked treats and we ordered the ham and cheese croissants. They have a small toaster oven and are able to warm them up. The croissant was really good! So buttery with a nice gritty mustard inside. For a drink, I ordered my usual matcha and was pleased to see them using a chasen to prepare the powder. It was very well made! Only adding sweetener if you'd like. The matcha powder shines. They had some seating available so it was easy to enjoy before jumping on the road. Of all the coffee shops in the area, this place felt like the one that was making craft coffee and drinks. You know how coffee shops seem to either be focused on the sugary drinks and aesthetic or they're purists focused on drinks without the extra stuff. This is the later.
While on a visit to downtown San Jose I always like to come to this spot. It's old fashioned, classy feel is a place I like to sip my coffee. They play slow, smooth jazz music in the background that helps me reset from the busy atmosphere outside. I come here mainly for the pour over coffee. Not a lot of places do a pour over, so this place is special to me. This morning I felt like I needed a nice, toasty medium roast to wake me up. I ordered their Brazil, which has a nice nutty taste. The service here is always friendly and helpful. I'm not in San Jose that often, but I really like to come here when I am.
Good fresh coffee, cozy tables to rest or work at, and a curated collection of pastries and breakfast fare. I love this part of town as there are some great places to stop in for coffee, etc. The baristas are cordial and busy. Voltaire Coffee Roasters is great. Though the croissants and other sweets looked fantastic, I needed something with a bit more heft. And, while they have good options such as bagels, and avocado toast, I was drawn to a slice of Quiche Lorraine. Though I am far from a quiche expert, I was very happy with the one I had here. The crust was flakey, buttery, and had its crunch intact (even warmed up). The insides filled the bill, too. Got my eggs, bacon etc delivered in a very tasty way. It's an independent shop, so don't be surprised when you ask for a refill for that pour-offer, and discover that what you're buying is in fact a second cup. All good. Glad to make it here.

Cute little spot to grab a delicious coffee. I got their iced Spanish latte and it was the perfect combination of sweetness and coffee flavor. There's not a lot of seating so I wouldn't recommend going with a big group. However, there are some 1-2 person tables for studying. read more

I walked by here and stopped in on a whim. It's pretty small inside, there is seating for maybe 14-16 people but nothing larger than seating 1 or 2 people. So if you're a group you'd be hard pressed to be all together. I got a Spanish latte and a danish. The latte was interesting, espresso and steamed condensed milk. read more

They just rolled out the new drinks for fall. However, I came in hoping to get the summer Big Sur latte one more time. A kind gentlemen offered to make it since they still have the ingredients. The staff is great and the service is always quick. read more

I love you can taste the effort in every cup! I can always count on my coffee to be delicious! There may have been one time I was given hot when ordered ice but they always make it right! I like it's never too busy and they are fast when making online orders. They have healthy breakfast options and pastries to choose from. I love it's on my way to work! Came here on a lunch break on a weekday! I ordered the iced Spanish latte with cinnamon, which was a latte sweetened with condensed milk. Cinnamon is optional upon order and part of the original recipe! I wanted to try something more authentic and true to form. My friend is lactose intolerant, so he opted to purchase the strawberry sparkler made with in-house puree. I really enjoyed the Spanish latte. It's sweet and not commonly offered, at least at the cafes I frequent! This is definitely a hit and is relatively easy to make. This was the perfect boost of mid-day caffeine I needed to be productive. The strawberry sparkler was also really yummy, I enjoyed the tartness and carbonation. They got the sugar level right on this one, we were a bit nervous since we didn't ask if it was customizable at this location. Overall recommend and would come back here again! read more

Voltaire is a cute and trendy little coffee shop! There is some seating too, which is nice. I ordered a vanilla latte which wasn't too sweet, and I also tried both the blueberry and carrot muffins. The blueberry one was by far my favorite, and probably one of the better muffins I've had from a coffee shop. My drink also came out fairly quick despite there being a line. read more

Voltaire Coffee is definitely worth the stop, even though parking can be a bit of a headache. Finding a spot takes some effort and patience, but once you're inside, it all makes sense. The coffee is consistently great, the quality stands out, and the atmosphere makes it a place I'm willing to go out of my way for. Parking may not be easy, but the coffee is good enough to make the effort every time. read more

Still my favorite place and they have good food/snacks to eat while drinking your coffee. It's very chill and Lowkey inside which I like + the coffee is good. The staff are nice and they have good napkins. They are not cheap when it comes to the avocado crostini they do not skimp on the avocado slices. Ask for extra or heavy cream cheese. The Spanish latte hot with half oat milk is my absolute favorite and it's also very good iced but not as sweet cold. They have great coffee here I just hate the location parking is very very bad, there are usually no parks available and I have to illegally park in the red just to get my coffee. I wish they had a designated lot. It's hard to visit them often as parking is a hassle and pretty frustrating. read more
Came here because of many other positive reviews and they have plenty of customers on Sunday morning around 8am. I ordered their holiday pecan latte and it was not overly sweet and surprising part was little chunks of pecans. I actually really loved it and it smelled like holidays Service was prompt and pleasant. read more

Tried the dubai chewy cookie and it was delicious. The marshmallow-to-filling ratio felt well balanced, giving it a chewy exterior and a crunchy, flavorful center. It wasn't overly sweet, which made it easy to enjoy. Would definitely recommend you grab one while it's available! Also, got my chia pudding and yogurt parfait cups that are always a convenient grab and go especially for the work day! read more

Been coming here almost every time I attend Fanime as it's right next to the convention center. Nice little place with a good selection of coffee and fresh pastries. I recommend their Spanish latte. read more
Chill ambience, good service, reasonable prices, and tasty coffee. I swung by on a random weekday morning and this place was pleasantly busy with meetups or people trying to work/study. The line moved along super quickly, and the baristas were incredibly friendly. It was my first time trying Spanish latte (which is espresso with condensed milk served hot--exactly like the warm counterpart of conventional Vietnamese coffee) and matcha latte. Despite the difficult parking situation typical of Downtown San Jose, I would definitely come here ago for other specialty drinks on the menu. read more

Love this place! Been going for years due to its location next to the Convention Center. Definitely recommend the Iced Spanish Latte! My boyfriend and I used drive an hour out of our way (several times a month) for the breakfast bacon sandwich but we don't visit as often anymore since they're seemingly no longer on the menu. Such a bummer. read more
We are on a mission to find some nice coffee shops to sit and do work on the weekend, and Voltaire came up on our social media. We came here around noon on a Saturday, and were served very quickly, and the staff was super friendly. We both got lattes, they were really good, and there was plenty of space to sit. I got a salmon toast and it was good, but I wish there was more lox. We also got a breakfast wrap, the flavor was good but nothing to write home about. We sat in the little corner booth which was so adorable, and were able to relax and do some work. Overall it was nice, but since the doors were open it was a little warm and some flies were flying in. Highlights are the staff and coffee. We will continue trying coffee shops in the south bay for now... read more
