Ordered this for breakfast right before Fanime and it was a lukewarm and a bit pricy experience. We sometimes order Egg Slut right during AX for breakfast depending on where we're staying for the con, and I thought, "Why not?" for Fanime. Yeah...Doesn't compare to it's SoCal competitor. For our breakfasts we got the: 1) Eggy: -There's something similar to this at Egg Slut too. You dip the bread into the whipped rich egg whites and there's bacon and other toppings at the surface. Bread was dry and harder and you would have to use so much of the egg to make it palatable, let alone edible. This was unique and I was looking forward to it, so this was kind of a let down. 2) Waffle Fries: -Not that many waffles fries for what was paid, but not bad. Nice and seasoned. Slight crisp, fluffy on the inside. 3) Hawaiian Morning: -It's just an egg sandwich with a piece of span on the inside. There's arugula. It's not that special and was just okay. Not bad, just okay. 4) Mint Passion: -Sweeter than expected even with the adjustments. I think we had to toss this out after the con weekend since we had other drinks that were tastier from elsewhere and the mint was wilting in the drink in the fridge. 5) Americano: -Slight sour aftertaste. Boyfriend said it was just whatever and had to let a lot of the ice melt since it was a bit sweet too despite it being ordered at zero sweetness. 6) Black Sesame Latte: -Sweet but also watered down? I've had stronger tasting black sesame drinks, so this also was another disappointment. 7) Pink Supreme: -Guava, citrus, orange, and some mint. This was the best of the drink bunch and was refreshing. Good balance of sweet and tart. Unless I get invited by someone else I think I'm good.
I stopped by around 12:30 pm on a weekday and it was not too busy! The atmosphere is pretty calm and they play a lot of gen-z music which I enjoyed. The staff brought out my drink and food which was super kind of them :) But I noticed that they were out of the egghead salad and one of their other sandwiches :( also, I noticed that they ran out of arugula as well which was a bummer because I'm one to load up on veggies inside my sandwich. If you want to try out their popular picks, I suggest coming earlier, maybe during brunch! For my drink I ended up ordering the hojicha latte, which was perfect at 70% sweetness (not too sweet but didn't taste like straight milk since you could taste the hojicha). I suggest if you like sweet drinks you get 100% though, their drinks are not as sweet as other milk tea places. For the food I got The Scramble, which had scrambled eggs, cheese (I chose pepper jack instead of cheddar), caramelized onions, chives, and I also added avocados for an additional fee. I think that's the best scrambled eggs I've had in the world! It was super light, fluffy, and creamy. It paired wonderfully with the soft, buttery brioche bun! Needless to say, I will be coming back with my friends for lunch! Highly recommend trying this place out
One of favorite breakfast spots in downtown San Jose! The star of the menu is the Eggy, soft poached egg with bacon and folded in with a few scoops of mashed potatoes all served in a mason jar. The kids love to dip toasted slices of French bread in to sop up all the yummy goodness! There is no street parking since the light rail runs right in front of the downtown SJ location. There is an entire parking lot on San Fernando street which is only a few steps away from the front door! Update:there are marked spots for egghead in the parking lot across the street, those are spots reserved for egghead employees.
The food served at EggHead is very yummy and flavorful. I've had their "The Chic" and the "Breakfast Burger," and the size of the meat cuts were always generous. However, it can take a bit for the food to come out, and if you don't live in the area, you'll have to drive a bit to find a public lot or parking garage.
Door dashed "the chic" chicken sandwich for my boyfriend & I and the initial first bite, immediate stringy chicken "meat". It tasted off and lack of house sauce / overall flavor. I thought it was supposed to resemble a chicken strip type meat, hence the stringy-ness, so I kept eating. Not to mention, the size of the chicken was HUGE. Like abnormally huge. Upon further inspection, the meat was inconsistent. It would be dry and stringy. Think of stringy like a cheese pull. WHY would the meat be STRINGY like that?? I had to pull it out my mouth and it kept going! I started to pull apart the meat and noticed it was raw and slimy. Inconsistently cooked. I was disgusted and tossed it immediately. My stomach slightly is uncomfortable at the moment, so I hope I didn't catch food poisoning. Both my boyfriend & I's sandwich were inconsistently cooked. We will not be eating from this establishment again.
For the price I think The Chic sandwich is worth it if you really like chicken. The chicken is flavored similar to popcorn chicken which I like. At some point it was overpowering. The guava matcha is pretty decent. It is a cute little shop and it has a self serve kiosk.
Great food and amazing service at this location. Never order from their website. When we order from the site and chose the current location (downtown sj) for pick up, the website change our pickup order to another place in capital at the confirmation screen. Their website ordering is a mess. Thankfully the employee at this location help us out and gave us the food after we show him our order.
Came here early for some breakfast and the service was really fast. I got the matcha latte and the scramble sandwich. I like that they have milk alternatives, costs $1 though. The matcha latte was okay. In comparison to other matcha places around the bay nowadays though, it doesn't really hold up in terms of flavor. I personally couldn't really distinguish a prevalent matcha flavor. The sandwich was good. Eggs were super fluffy and not dry, paired well with the soft and fluffy bread and spicy mayo. A bit pricey though. Overall a nice place to try out for breakfast. Not sure I would go out of my way to get it but if I'm in a pinch and nearby, perhaps I would consider going again.
Saw this place for breakfast and it reminded me of Eggslut in LA so was really excited. It did not compare unfortunately, prices are also a bit higher. We walked in and no one helped us at the counter as we wanted to pay cash so after 5 min we went to the kiosk to order ourselves. We got two sandwiches and fries which took over 20 min to come out. When we got our food it was room temp with cold parts. I also noticed the buns were toasted only on the inside and cold on the outside, I definitely think if they would toast both sides they would taste better. Fries were pretty good. Besides the cold food they also have a pretty good assortment of drinks that would pair well with the sandwiches. It is a bit difficult to find street parking in the area unless you want to pay to park at the parking lot. Good amount of seating but service and food wise there's definitely room for improvement.

Decided to get the Strawberry Matcha Latte again but with 70% sweetness instead of my usual full sweetness, alongside a BEC sandwich. There was a bit of a wait as one of the two workers had just left, but the remaining server was relatively attentive and delivered our food to our table which was something I didn't recall happening the last two times. The ambiance was relatively quiet as we came at a weird time so there was only one other customer there. I also think that I came in at a bad time because the table was a bit sticky. It was near the end, so I imagine that they were likely going to wipe the tables down once we were done. As for the food and drink, it was alright. The matcha isn't very strong, but the strawberry has a sweet, refreshing flavor to it. The BEC was standard - I don't normally get food with bacon, but it was the perfect level of hardness that let you tear it off easily so you wouldn't be stuck pulling the entire thing out on accident. Overall, a pleasant experience. Would return again.
Always a good chicken sandwich. Only tried this location twice, hard to find parking in the area. Service was fast, places to sit if eating at the restaurant. It's definitely a little pricey, but worth it every once in a while. Always playing decent music while you wait.

Opportunities for improvement: Faster turnaround on orders-When we arrived, there was one person waiting for their food already, another person ordering and then us. It took just short of 15 minutes for the two coffee drinks, which one of them were incorrect. It took an additional 10 minutes for the food. They weren't slammed at all. If this is the norm, just remember this if you're stopping in before work or an appointment; allow for the time Food not to expectation-we have had egghead before and the food was out of this world. There perfect scrambled eggs, fresh buns and all together one of the best breakfast sandwiches ever. This was my expectation at this location. My bacon was cold and hard, but did give a huge portion; they got extra points for that!! The egg was okay. The bun was a tasty brioche bun, but wasn't as fresh as previous experiences. I think I may be being picky here as I was comparing it to expectations set by previous visits and offlit a little by the long wait. so sorry if I'm too critical on this one. Besides the wait, it was a good breakfast sandwich. I probably would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for the wait at a critical time of the day.
Why would I pay for the large and it's the same amount of liquid, I also watch her pour it over ice when it's a no ice. Not only is it not fresh squeezed but it's diluted, and she told me it's to make it cold. I saw you take the bottle out of the fridge... this is the wildest scam in my life.

This is one of the breakfast places in Downtown San Jose that you do NOT want to miss! I stumbled upon this place after the Yelp app recommended me to try -- so you know I had to give it a try. Upon entering, I loved how spacious the place was, especially with the variety of foods they had: egg sandwiches, matcha lattes, coffee, and lots more. I was fortunate enough to try their egg drop in a jar alongside bacon and cheese, and their matcha latte. Both were very delicious and had a very natural taste to them :) They had self-order kiosks but at the same time, their hospitality and customer service was on par. They were very accommodating with regards to dietary restrictions (especially when it came to the milk selections for lattes, matcha was no different). I will definitely be coming back to this place to try more! (Hint hint: I may also try their other location as well -- that to.be saved for another time) read more

My BF and I decided to eat here after our morning Sunday run. We tried the other location in North SJ before and was also great. I ordered The Chic and loved the crispiness of the chicken, the egg was cooked perfectly and I just the right amount of mayo, and added avocado for an extra charge. For drinks, I got the Iced Matcha Latte with no sugar, substituted for an oat milk for an extra charge and it was delightful. My BF got the The Ultimate Sando, according to him the bun was nicely toasted, the eggs were deliciously seasoned, and the sausage patty was juicy and tender. For drinks, he got an orange juice which was fresh and pulpy! Overall, we're happy with this location and glad they opened one near us! Employees were nice and attentive and the place was clean and minimalist. Though I think the lighting is too dim lol. But, that's okay! read more
Honestly not a huge breakfast sandwich person so I ordered the chicken sandwich. This sandwich was massive but I personally thought there was too much batter and had just large chunks of batter with little to no chicken in it. The spices were good and similar to Taiwanese popcorn chicken, but the spice on the chicken was also concentrated in one spot instead of evenly spread. I liked the egg which was cooked perfectly and runny, but wouldn't come back here for the chicken sandwich. May need to try some of their breakfast items instead! read more

This location gives huge portions of chicken! I'm my favorite is the chic sandwich, which is a huge piece of Taiwanese fried chicken. The side chic sandwich is also good too for a healthier alternative. The tater tots are also solid. The food also came out pretty quick as it wasn't busy. There's ample seating inside and outside, although not a lot of seating for large groups. read more

I used to always go to the Rivermark Plaza location, and decided to come here while I was in the downtown area. Very cute and spacious location, but the parking sucks. The Eggy is a menu item I normally love, but this location makes it quite salty. They are very generous with the bacon, so maybe that's why? But it was still enjoyable. The bread was tasty too. It also took a really long time to get our food unfortunately... We waited about 25 minutes when the staff estimated 10 minutes. Unexpected for a takeout order we ordered ahead of time. read more

My first time but the experience was calm and relaxed-I came with a few friends! I got the Breakfast burger and waffle fries, but I wouldn't recommend the fires it was overcooked. read more
Tater tots aren't great, they lack flavor but are cheap at like $5 for a big container of tater tots. Sandwich is yummy but you have to eat it hot as it doesn't reheat well. Kinda pricey, but yummy Sammy while you're downtown. read more

We were in the area so we wanted to try this sandwich shop out for breakfast. It's in the middle of DTSJ so street parking might be a bit hard. We came on a Sunday morning and we ordered our food from a kiosk. The service for drinks seemed to be going fast, but the food took a little longer than expected. There's a kitchen behind the coffee bar and I believe they bring out the orders in batches. I got the chic sandwich and it was pretty good. The chicken tasted soft and tender and it was freshly fried. You get a BIG piece of chicken for the sandwich so that was nice! You have a few seating options indoor and outside. It's a fairly quiet area to enjoy a nice sandwich. Would def recommend and come back if I'm in the area to try out the other sandwiches and drinks! read more

Their sandwiches are incredibly filling, flavorful, and just the right kind of comfort food to start the day. You can tell they put thought into every bite--from the soft bread to the perfectly cooked eggs and fresh ingredients. The shop has a cool, laid-back vibe that makes you want to sit and enjoy your meal instead of rushing out the door. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because, on the few occasions I've visited (3 to 4 times), there's been a delay in opening the shop at the advertised time. That said, the food and service once inside have always made up for the wait. If they tighten up the opening hours, it's a 5-star spot all the way. Still very much worth visiting! read more

I'd actually give this place 3.5 stars but the food was good so rounding up. I'm a fan of the Egghead in Santa Clara in the Rivermark plaza so when I realized there was a DTSJ location and I was in the area, it seemed like a good option for a quick late breakfast before dropping a friend off at the airport. I've had the BEC (bacon, egg, cheese) and the side chic, but have yet to try the popular chicken sando so figured this would be a good time to try it. The chicken was seasoned well and the crispy texture was a good contrast to the brioche bun. Plus the chicken was still moist. It is big so I'd only get it if u was really hungry, but definitely a must try. I had some of my friends tater tots and they were so good! Crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside making it a great side to any sandwich you get here. The only downside was the service. While there were a few other people who were already there before us, a majority of the time we were there was spent waiting. I guess that speaks to them cooking everything to order which is nice, but considering how long everyone was waiting with the amount of people actually in the restaurant, the wait seems to be a bit on the longer side. Two of my friends got their food before me and another friend and the wait in between was so long that they finished their food before I even got mine (and they were trying to eat slow). Thats the only reason I'm knocking it down to 3.5 stars. The interior though is cool with an industrial/modern loom and there is also seats inside and outside, making it a cool place to chill. I think I'd give it another chance if I'm in the area just to see if the service was a one-off but definitely like the food read more
The matcha drinks are unmatched! The sandwiches were also delicious. Service was fast, easy and staff were kind. Love the ambiance, public parking right across the restaurant. Playlist was simply a vibe! read more

We were there on a Saturday. It was not busy but the cafe is relatively small so keep that in mind.
