Very over priced fish. When they say fish nuggets they mean it! I was told that they weigh each nugget which 1 piece is 4 ounces and not an ounce more. I remember the days in the Marine Corps when they weighed all meat and only gave you that portion. Mikes should learn how fish and chips are made in Ireland. You get a slab of fish not a morsel. read more

On a road trip up north it was lunch time and we had a hankering for fish. I Yelped fish places on Payson and stumbled across Mike's Fish & Chips. It was hard to review the menu online, it did take some searching, but eventually found it. We were going to call ahead and take it with us, but, ultimately decided to eat there. Mike's is right off the highway. You order at the counter, get a number and when your food is ready, you go up and pick it up. Upon reviewing the menu, I decided on the 7 piece shrimp and chips. The shrimps are large and fried golden brown and crispy. The fries were golden, crispy and not greasy! They offer spicy cocktail sauce. It was a great lunch to fill our bellies for the rest of our drive. The nautical decor compliments the restaraunt nicely and I loved the fish tank in the corner with colorful fish! Next time we are in Payson and have a taste for Fish & Chops we will stop at Mike's. read more

Fish was extremely fresh and perfectly fried. The portion was great! We ordered a three piece and they gave us a lot of fish. The clam chowder is only served on Fridays and Saturday! The service was extremely fast and personal. Absolutely great spot and we will be stopping in next time we are in town :) read more

I liked this place a little more than my husband. He would have given it 3.5 stars but I thought it was pretty good. He had the fish and we thought it was a little dry. Also it was kinda weird you don't get big pieces of fish you get more like fish nuggets. The fries were really good. I had the shrimp which I thought was great and I liked that the tail was off of them. The coleslaw was pretty good. I'm from GA so I make some pretty good coleslaw and theirs was really good. The staff were friendly. It was nice that they had plenty of seating for everyone even outdoor seating. Oh and the Corona sealed the deal! lol. I will definitely come back. read more

We took the kiddos for a snow day in Payson today, and were recommended Mike's Fish & Chips for lunch. Oh my goodness, IT WAS SO YUM! The perfect chilly day comfort meal. I ordered their cheeseburger with everything on it, fries, and fried pickles for our table to share. My husband ordered their fish & shrimp basket so naturally, I tried some of his and you guys, it was some of the best fried fish and shrimp that we've had! He ordered them extra crispy which I highly recommend. Their tartar sauce was absolutely delicious as well. For a fast casual spot, it was SUPER clean, friendly service, and delicious food. We'll be back on a future visit to Payson! read more

Nice place food was ok. If we are in the area we would try it again. Found things to have a little too much breading. Next time we come I want to try the items grilled. read more

Was much better a few years ago. sorry to say it has hit a landslide and down the hill it has went. We were super disappointed we ordered 4 pieces of fish and they do it by weight one piece the only big piece wasn't bad but all the all pieces were super over cooked and dry. We also got 4 pieces of shrimp not fresh and again over cooked. Then the deep fried mushrooms I was excited about, well have to be the worst I have ever had. Everything was a let down... Place was clean not a date night type of place more of a place to stop and grab a bite before or after camping, but not anymore read more

What a gem in Payson! I'm really glad I found this place, they have one of the best fish and chips in Arizona. Along with the yummy fish and chips, their price is reasonable. Oh and the hot sauce is the bomb! I guess they make it there? It tastes like really nice ketchup mixed with cocktail shrimp sauce, anyways I loved it. We had fish and chips, oysters and chips, coleslaw, and fried zucchini, and oh my goodness. They all tasted super fresh and I love their fry batter. Super yummy! Fried zucchini and coleslaw, we ordered as sides but they were as good as the fried seafood. I'll come here again for sure! Oh and they keep the place super clean, which makes me feel that I'm being cared :) read more

Great batter for the fish Light and crispy. The coleslaw delicious and the staff were very friendly.

I already can't wait to go back! I drive by all the time when going up north and finally stopped by for lunch. It was delicious! The pieces of fish are big! The batter was delicious. The fish, fried oysters and shrimp, were meaty. It wasn't JUST the fried batter. The sauces were so good as well! Staff was nice and helpful and make everything fresh. The inside was so cute with under the sea typed theme. read more

The fish is great if you get it grilled! I don't think they do it justice using the heavy batter and frying. Coleslaw is great! The fries are great! The portions are way too small. I hope they consider using more of a tempura batter in the future. read more

Genuinely welcoming with a dog friendly area! Excellent service and food was fabulous. Thank you!

Fresh fish in the high country! Our family is from the PNW, and, consequently, are very particular about their fish. Mike's does it right! The batter on the fish as well as the fries is delicious and crisp! Definitely a great spot to stop in if you're looking for a non-chain/fast food option that's affordable and tasty with great service. read more

Four of us came in for lunch and it was Taco Tuesday!! Fantastic fresh Fish Tacos, we had the Fried Fish Tacos, Grilled Fish Tacos and Fish n Chips, everything was fresh, high quality, tasty and an excellent value, everything is made to order by a family run small business, great food and great service, nice interior with a couple of elaborate aquariums, even one with chairs and counter for the kids to enjoy their meal and watch the fish swimming around, I highly recommend this great little family business. read more

I went in on a whim on a Monday. Was helped and served pretty fast. The girl taking the orders was helpful as well. The only thing was the food was just okay. The building was clean and tables but it was kind of slow for being around lunch time. There was only about 4 other people dining in and a few take outs while I was there. I got one of the combos with fish and a crab cake and fries. For the price the portions were worth it but the food was missing something. The cocktail sauce just tasted like ketchup with Tabasco. The tartar sauce was great though. I'd get it another shot, maybe I was in on an off day. read more

Food hit the spot! I was surprised they didn't have enough fish to serve our order of two 3pc fish and chips. They served us both our plates and then said there's some missing from one and that they would bring the rest it out separately. It's a Monday at 3p not busy at all. I guess that's what surprised me. Otherwise the staff was friendly and the food was good read more

The fish and chips here are THE best fish and chips I have ever had. I crave their hush puppies so much that we drove all the way from Buckeye to get some. The staff is so friendly and nice! The restaurant is super clean and the service is fast. Everything is always fresh and tastes great. We love you guys!!! See you next time. read more

Payson Arizona, this time. Here for the Food and Fiddle Festival. Who would have thought I would have the best Fish and Chips. Most F-n-C places you kinda slide in and slide out. I don't know how they cook such light, delicate fish but you must have to order grease on the side, if you want it, cuz it ain't on the fish. Can't wait to go again and it's an hour from the house! read more

We spotted this little Fish and Chips place on our way to the gem show. On our way back we decided to stop and have lunch. Their chalkboard menu boards offered a wide variety of combinations. It's a self service station where you order, pay, then pick up when your number is called. We settled on 2-2piece fish , one with chips, one with cold slaw, and a 3 piece fish and chips. Prices were very reasonable and the dinners were absolutely delicious!! They cut the pieces in half to serve so it looks like twice as much fish! I also sampled 2 pieces of shrimp. They were butterflied then battered and deep fried. Amazingly delicate and tasty. The fries and slaw were also amazing. The cold slaw tastes like KFC, but bigger pieces. Yum!! The decor was cute with kids sitting by a fish tank, and plenty of booths and tables for a crowd, also with outdoor tables. I haven't had fish in awhile and this was perfect! I would recommend this to everyone I know! read more

Ordered the #3 combo which is fish and clam strips. You can choose between fries or cole slaw, I chose fries, no regrets. This was really tasty, if I lived in Payson this would be a regular place to visit. The food was crispy on the outside and cooked and moist on the inside. Love that. The price is good for what you get, less than $10 for everything seen. I also had eaten one of the fish pieces and nearly all the clam strips, I was getting hangry. I arrived between lunch rushes. Outdoor seating was an option and on a beautiful day I took it. Now...if you are not fully vaccinated and feel anxious about others not masking up this may not be the place for you right now. However, it was not crowded and everything looked clean. Do with that what you will. read more

Enjoyed the fish and hush puppies. The tartar sauce was spot on for me. Ate there twice over this last weekend.

I've been here twice now and both times were great. I'm not even a huge fish and chips fan but the fish is really good and after the first time I went, I couldn't wait to go back. I took my wife here the second time while we were driving back through to go home And again can't wait to go back for a third time read more

Just finished a hike on the Boulder Trail and I was set to try Mike's this morning. It did not disappoint. Fish - Fresh, perfectly fried with really nice coating. Fries- crispy and tasty. Great lunch!! Ate in car with my mutt so they gave me all the condiments. My doggie tasted both and approved! This will be my after hike lunch going forward since I live in Fountain Hills Food is excellent as well as the service and smiles read more

Oh my gosh! This place is so good! Pictured is the two piece fish and slaw, he, I imagine Mike, was clear that is could come out of more pieces because of how they cut it. My husband had, what I can only describe as, one of the best burgers I've ever tasted. They had some awesome sounding desserts, but we were stuffed. When the wife suggested we stop for fish in chips in the middle of AZ while outside of Phoenix.Well it was not what I thought it would be. The place was clean the wait staff treated all customers like family. The fish i got was not overly caked in a heavy batter but rather golden crispy with fish that was cooked just right to be flaky. I was given two options of either deep fried or grilled. I went with the deep fried. The wife's fired clams were nothing special but the coleslaw was good. Over all one of the better places to get Fish in chips in AZ so far. Would stop again to get 3 piece fish dinner I had. read more

We generally have a rule about ordering fish from places that are so far from the ocean but after reading the reviews, we decided to give Mike's a try. We were NOT disappointed! There are plenty of tables inside and out, we were greeted by a young girl who was very friendly, it seems that it is a family run restaurant. We stuck with the fish and chips, the portions were good and the fish was excellent! We felt the prices were spot on and we will definitely return! We have a local spot in San Diego that we like and they are hard to beat, they still get the #1 spot but Mike's is a close second! read more

We came here with the parents who have visited here several times already. For a holiday weekend, it wasnt too busy, which maybe means it is more well known to locals. The restaurant is in the end of a strip mall, that looks fairly vacant. The interior is decorated with a nautical theme, not kitchey but charming. The live aquarium has several varieties including nemo and dory. Between the 4 of us, we ordered the ultimate chicken sandwich, the fish tacos, 2 pc fish, and 2 pc fish with 4 oysters. The tacos had large but delicate pieces of fish. Lightly fried and served with minced lettice, tomato and lemon wedge. The pieces of fish were battered and fried with a delicate balance, not too breaded, not too soggy. The oysters are fried and a nice meaty portion of meat. The chicken sandwich was disappointing. It was juicy and a large portion but not much on it other than lettuce, tomato and onion. Flavorful bread and the chicken had an almost fried crispness to it. The coleslaw was cold, crunchy and tangy. The service is a little slow but friendly. We will be back when we have a craving for good fish and chips! read more

The prices are right. Fish burgers and fish tacos are the sweet spots of the menu. The tartar sauce was a little sweet by my book, and the fries were just okay. It's a busy place, and for a good reason. It serves filling meals at a reasonable price to both locals and travelers. You order at the counter, and they call out your order once ready. Plenty of tables and booths. I could probably be talked into a 4 star ranking on value alone. This is a great spot for a fast, filling meal at a reasonable price. Save room for 2 of their cannolis at less than $3 for both. It's not fancy food, but that's a-ok. read more

We stop here all the time on the way through Payson. The people are super nice and the food is excellent. Stop in if you can.

Rip off! The cocktail sauce may as well been ketchup. Couldn't tell the difference. I asked does slaw come with it. She said no so I asked how much it was . She showed me the size couldn't be more than 3 bites and they wanted 3.00 rip off. They have no itemized receipts so you have no idea what you're paying for. They gave us no napkins and charged because I wanted couple more cocktail sauce, not cocktail sauce more like just ketchup because they are to cheap to actually put a fair amount of horseradish. Everything was greasy and mostly breading. Small pieces of fish, very small. 23.00 for 4 pieces of 2x2 breading and fries. Rip off!!! My bill was over 48.00 for two people. Rip off!!!! They don't even have paper menus. They also charged me 3 percent for using my cc. I had my own business for over 25 years we never charged someone extra to use a cc. It's the cost of doing business. Quit stealing from your customers. Never again will I patronize your place. Hope you go out of business soon. read more
