Really enjoyed this place. The vibe reminded me of a small café you would see in the show Supernatural. It felt relaxed and welcoming, and the food was good and filling. We came in as a large group after a long wait at a nearby chain restaurant, and they were able to seat us right away, which we really appreciated. I only ordered the country fries and was surprised by how full I felt after. My sister in law ordered a hot chocolate that reminded me of Ned Flanders' hot chocolate from The Simpsons Movie in a fun, nostalgic way. My husband and I recently stopped in, and unfortunately, our experience was really concerning from a sanitation standpoint. While at the salad bar, I watched a staff member use her bare hands (with acrylic nails) to handle food--she actually took salad off my plate and put it back into the shared salad bar. Throughout our visit, I also saw her bussing tables, wiping surfaces, and handling other items without washing her hands before continuing to handle food and plates. I recently had food poisoning, so this was especially triggering for me. I ended up feeling really uncomfortable and honestly close to tears because I didn't feel safe eating there. I do want to say that the staff handled the situation kindly when we chose to leave--they only charged us for our drinks, which I appreciated. I'm not trying to bash this place, but I do think it's important to share because proper food handling and hygiene are so important. I truly hope they take this feedback seriously and make improvements. read more

First things first, this is a "cash only" place, but they have a low fee ATM inside, which is convenient. The vibe inside is just as you'd expect for a cafe in a small, rural town like Payson...comfy-cozy with lots of historical pics of the area from way back. The service was friendly and done with a smile :) The food was great! I wasn't super hungry and went with eggs, hash-browns and an English muffin. It really hit the spot. I just love coming in here. It has such a small town hometown feel and it reminds me of my grandparents house in Northern Minnesota. It's just so cozy and sweet and everybody's friendly. We both had omelets and asked for them to be prepared in butter (not seed oils) and they gladly did so. Many of the items contained MSG so be warned if that's an issue. We arrived around noon on Saturday hoping to enjoy a relaxing meal and explore both breakfast and lunch options. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Our server seemed more engaged in conversation with her coworker than with her tables. I ordered a coffee and a vegetarian egg white omelet without bell peppers, requesting grilled chicken as an add-on. I had to remind her about my coffee and water, as she continued chatting instead of checking on us. When our food arrived, I noticed bacon on top of my omelet--surprising, since I don't eat bacon. I scraped it off, only to discover the inside was filled with both bacon and chicken. I immediately flagged the waitress to let her know this wasn't what I ordered. Instead of listening, she accused me of ordering a Western omelet and nearly started yelling. I calmly repeated my original order, but her tone made the entire interaction feel tense and uncomfortable. I was close to walking out. She eventually offered an apology and said they would remake the dish. However, she loudly announced at the service window that I was the one who messed up, which felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. When the corrected food arrived, she never returned to check on us. I had to ask another server just to get a refill on my coffee. This experience was deeply disappointing. We frequently hike in the area and had hoped this would be a regular spot, but we won't be returning--and we definitely won't be recommending it to friends. read more

Cute little rustic restaurant! The menu is so good you could throw a dart at it and love whatever it hit. This restaurant has multiple longtime (like 20+ years) employees. Wonderful homemade soups. Friday features hand breaded fried cod. My daughter says they have the best coleslaw. The chili is homemade and so good. Service is great as well. Bear in mind this restaurant has a cash only policy. They do offer breakfast all day, which is nice. My wife and I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. The corned beef was just ground up salty meat smashed flat on the cooktop, couldn't really tell it was corned beef. The eggs were a little undercooked. So the plate was a little disappointing. We stopped by while visiting Payson from Mesa. The Beeline Cafe is in an outdated, small building. Pros: The server was very friendly. The food was good. I feel as if it was a homemade dinner. Cons: There really is not much room or space to move around. We had our son with us so he was in a high chair essentially in the middle of the aisle. There was a family waiting to be seated but they couldn't be seated until we left because they could not get by us. We were next to the restrooms and it really is an aisle made for one. Oh, the server also forgot my soup, but it was fine since I was full after my plate of dinner. We came to Payson for a few days to explore and thought we would try this out for breakfast because it had very good ratings on Yelp. We were sat immediately on a Tuesday around 10 AM, but had to ask to be 1 booth away from the next people. Then they ended up sitting someone in that table behind us and in front of us. They didn't use gloves, our server wore a mask, the hostess did not. The meal came very quickly but was so so - my husband had the #4 - pancakes eggs and bacon. The pancakes were dry.
