Went out to Christopher Creek for lunch today and boy, was it busy! All the tables out on the deck were crowded but we found one, right at the balcony overlooking the creek. I love eating outside here because the trees are old growth so give a lovely, shaded breeze and the sound of the creek is so inviting.... We had fried curds as an appetizer that were crispy, crunchy and melty-gooey inside. Delicious! I ordered the BLT on sourdough and hubby had one of his favorites, the Reuben; with mine I had the fries, which were these 'twisty' potatoes that were cooked perfectly, crispy outside and fluffy inside, and he got the onion rings so we shared our sides. I love! maionnaise so would have gladly had more on my sandwich but the applewood smoked bacon had my attention so I quickly forgot about the mayo. All that food and two beers with it made me want to hang a hammock and nap by the creek . See you next time Landmark :) With all this good food an Been coming here for several years and love that it's by the creek, has a nice, big, deck/patio with fairly comfy chairs ( I've a bad neck and back so sitting in restaurants isn't that great for me), good beer and the food has so far always been good. Most food items have jalapeño and chilis ( I'm extremely allergic- carry epi pen ) so my choices are a little more limited anywhere I go eat, especially here in the SW. I usuallyhave either the bacon cheeseburger, mac and cheese - you know I looove cheese - a salad or heck, a couple beers and fries! It's so pleasant to enjoy the breeze, birds and creek, while having a drink there. Service has been both wonderful but also spotty, depending on time and weather - but overall good, and staff smiles are always appreciated. I like taking my time when out for a meal and we have always felt able to enjoy food and drinks without feeling rushed, as is typical of dining in the States. See you soon Landmark!!

Staying just down the highway and didn't want to drive all the way back to Payson to pick up some liquor to make drinks in our room. The guy in the store at Woods Canyon Lake told us to stop at Landmark as they sell liquor as well as it being a restaurant. Once we walked in we knew we had to hang out for a bit. Amazing chill vibe and the patio is incredible. We chose a spot that overlooked the creek. Had a couple drinks and an appetizer.... the jalapeño cream cheese corn bites - YUM! Staff and service was friendly and fast. Great place! And we purchased a couple of bottles of booze and mixers for the rest of our evening.

Two paws up from our baby boy, Rock, on our little road trip adventure! We had two burgers, fries, onion rings and two adult beverages. Everything was delicious!! Thank you to our server, Macy, for making us all feel so welcome. Beautiful spot to sit outside and enjoy the cooler weather!

Walked over from our cabin as a neighbor recommended it- he said the wings were really good. They have a dog friendly patio- which is quite large. A stage for live music (none on our visit though). It's right on the creek and you can hear the water so nicely. They do not have a beer menu you can read, but from far away I could see one on the wall. We both got Big Blue Van, which is always delicious and it was on tap- bonus and very cold! We had cheese curds- which were ok, average nothing crazy though. Service was a little slow, but ok. Nice walk for food and beer. They also sell beer and wine apparently according to their sign, but we did not check.

The food was great. I loved the place it had plenty to do. Couldn't ask for a better spot to visit while up in the rim camping and fishing.

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more Kohl's Ranch Lodge 202 S Kohl's Ranch Road Payson, 85541 Companion and I were visiting in Payson and were looking for a good place to eat. I had eaten and stayed at Kohl's Ranch years ago and it was a tip top place to stay and eat. Unfortunately, things have changed over the years. The dining room that used to serve great prime rib is no more. Instead, there is only a small eating area by the bar, or you can eat outside if you wish. We could not get the internet on our phones and found out that the only way to access it is to take a room or rent time on it. Never heard of such a thing before. We ordered Iced Tea ($4), and placed our orders for a meal. Companion ordered an individual Hawaiian Pizza ($19). Unfortunately, only the middle was edible as the outside was 2 inches of crust before getting to any sauce. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip which was supposed to be the same as a French Dip. The meat was from their very own smoker. I personally own 4 smokers and the meat that comes out of my smokers tasted nothing like what was served to me. To make a long story short, I spent the evening totally sick and worshiping the porcelain god. For $50.82 I have had meals that were far better. 1 star for cleanliness and that's all. Not recommended

We got here around 1:30 pm just in time for some lunch. As I turned my head to the right, asking what we should eat, we all said "PIEbar" together. Jinx. It's just the perfect little cafe. It's bright yellow so it catches your eye. A line of people waiting to order at the front door was moving fast. Parking is right off the highway and in front of the restaurant. There's also additional parking behind the restaurant down the hill. Stairs come straight up to patio from the lower lot. Beautiful patios surround the restaurant with shaded tables. Gorgeous Ivy covered pines and oaks cover the patio areas. Two gender neutral restrooms available in a separate small building next to the restaurant. I love how the menus are written and posted everywhere and list empanadas in order by popularity. Another thing I appreciate is the size of the empanada and the price. They are small enough and inexpensive enough that you could get a snack but if you wanted to get, let's say five or six because you're hungry for lunch it is still affordable. Service was so friendly and great as we ordered at the counter. I couldn't believe how quickly the ordering process went and we were handed a bag of warm empanadas before we knew it. We ordered: - 1 SAVORY Empanada - The Mountain Man Empanada - sausage, potato gravy, cheese (most popular) - 1 SAVORY Empanada - Chicken Pot Pie empanada (second most popular) - 1 SAVORY Empanada - Picadillo Beef Empanada - shaved beef, diced potato, green chiles, onion, cilantro, tomato, garlic (I got this one and it's #1 in my book) - 1 SAVORY Empanada - Artichoke Dip Empanada (meatless) daughter said this was very good - 1 SWEET Empanada - Apple/Dulce de Leche - warm and yummy! We all split this for dessert. The pastry / shell is very tasty and doesn't taste like some I've tried other places with an artificial taste. It's flaky and filling. Handheld size. Perfect for taking on the go. Each empanada placed in a waxed paper sleeve. They've got a few different very tasty dipping sauces as well. We tried the Creamy Green Chile & Pepita Sauce (mild) and the Chipotle Lime Aioli (mild). Very good flavors and fresh.

They don't really have time to be personable when you've got 15 people in line and more walking up. You kinda gotta get things done.....No rudeness just a busy place and people trying to get things handled to serve their customers as quickly and efficiently as possible. I don't have a problem with that. As for the food, we got five different savory empanadas, and several of their sweet and really the only one that I found not good at all was the pecan, it was very dry and just had a weird texture and flavor that I would not have expected.. All of the savory empanadas were amazing. They are small and premium priced but in a small little touristy area like that, it's what you expect, I'm sure they have to bring in all their product and that means driving and there's extra transportation cost. They don't have a Costco in their backyard so I understand the price is being a little higher, but I didn't feel that they were out of line. Overall, four out of five it's a little tiny open air place, and they are making their empanadas very rapidly baking them and then putting them and holding ovens the temperatures could've been a little higher on the ones that we got that's the only negative that I saw but overall worth stopping in

One of us had chicken with lemon sauce. The two pasta for calamari, spaghetti, and Bolognese sauce with fettuccine. We had bone marrow to start. The bone marrow was teaming with parsley and raw onion. After scraping it off, it was delicious if very little for the price. That was one of the better things we had. The chicken with lemon sauce was soggy, and it was supposed to be breaded and crispy. The pasta noodles that came with it had Parmesan on them and oil but not much else. The price did not reflect what we got. The Bolognese sauce was good, but the fettuccine noodles were so soft too soft And the calamari spaghetti was probably something that should've been sent back because it was extremely fishy. I've never had fishy calamari. My son's hazelnut cream cake was OK and my cannoli was OK even if the ricotta tasted like cream cheese and it's a very small cannoli for nine dollars. My son's strawberry lemonade was good. The espresso martinis, whip cream, and without cream for both overly sweet, but reasonably priced. I had a taste of the only Kiante they sold by the glass, and it was not something I would ever drink it lacked any type of structure or body to the wine. All in all the $270 bill was not reflected in the food that we received. We really wanted to like this place but we're not sure that we'll be back. I would rather go to Duzas or Fargos.
