It was good, but not great--and I really think it has the potential to be great, so I'm open to giving it another chance. I ordered the avocado toast and asked for it without smoked salmon, but it still came out with salmon just not smoked.so I wasn't able to eat it as intended. My husband ordered eggs over easy but received scrambled instead. I also asked for decaf tea,and the only option available was chamomile--which isn't exactly what you want first thing in the morning. The service felt a bit off, as our waitress seemed pretty frazzled, which may explain the mix-ups. On the positive side, the blueberry croissant was delicious, and the carne asada breakfast was good. The food here is phenomenal! So many creative dishes using fresh vegetables. I had the crispy potato bowl with tofu and everything was cooked perfectly - Tofu, potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, brussel sprouts, asparagus, white beans, peppers, onion, garlic seasoned with Provençal herbs. Super disappointing experience. My mocha was lukewarm and the texture of the milk was not right. My daughter's latte was bitter she asked to trade it for the ice tea and that seemed to upset our server and from that moment on we were ignored by the staff. The Calabacitas was tasty but my daughter's Porchetta Benedict was lacking in seasoning, the hollandaise sauce tasted more like mayonnaise, and the pork belly was dry but she liked the English muffin. Service was not good. No one checked on us and we waited an extraordinary time for our check. I've loved Duza's for so long and been so excited to take out of town guests there but the last two visits have been so disappointing that I'm scared to talk it up anymore. read more

The cutest spot in Payson! This home turned restaurant on historic Main Street has unique food offerings. I loved the open menu so that I could order breakfast for lunch (is there anything better?). Each dish in the breakfast menu is unique and interesting. We ordered the biscuit that comes with three different meats and the chicken and waffles - both were great! We also ordered slices of the lemon mascarpone cake and the carrot cake to-go and boy was that the best decision. The cakes were moist and flavorful - loved them! I chose to go to brunch because I was hoping to enjoy a quiet meal at an independently owned restaurant rather than a chain. I ate my meal quietly, trying to recover from a migraine, left cash at the table to cover the bill and a tip, and got up to leave. As I stood up, one of the employees walked up to me and said, "Ma'am, you didn't pay for your food!" I said, " Yes, I did" and showed her the cash on the table. Instead of apologizing for accusing me of stealing, embarrassing me in front of the entire restaurant, and ruining what was meant to be a pleasant meal, she walked away, muttering something about me having an attitude. She refused to apologize for her mistake or for approaching a customer in such a rude manner. I'm sincerely embarrassed that I left a tip after being treated like that. read more

The food was delicious. I had the cheese between bread sandwich with the potato salad. Oh and iced tea. The water confused us. We didn't know it was infused with orange and other things. I honestly thought it was bad water from a well or bad pipes. Tried drinking it but, couldn't get past the flavor. Our waitress was super nice. I didn't get her name. The gal that sat us, she was not friendly. Again, no name but she came with a chip on her shoulder. I would return. Again, the food was delicious. The sign on the wall outside said we like to have fun. No one seemed to be having fun. Dogs are welcome on the patio which is great. The latte was so darned bitter that I couldn't even drink it. Waitress never came back to check on us except for immediately after the food had been delivered. Then she just said "is everything good? Good." I didn't even get a chance to say anything. If you are looking for a traditional breakfast don't go here, they only have "specialty" items. I've been to Duza'a many times. The food has always been fantastic, as well as the service. I truly think they have the best food and food experience in Payson. Last weekend (10/25/2025) we went for dinner and the food was amazing as always. However, I felt the energy of the staff was not up to normal standards. They were not rude, but low energy and kind of non-welcoming. We had wondered if we had done something wrong but got that vibe from the beginning and my wife even mentioned making the reservation earlier that day she got the same unwelcoming vibe. Great food. Great service. This is a small house that has been converted into a dining establishment. The menu choices aren't the run of the mill eggs, bacon, toast, although there are variations on that. We had the chicken and waffle, crunchy apple cereal (steel cut oats with cooked apples, raisins, almonds, and crisp, fresh apple slices, as well as corned beef hash. Our UK friend was in love with his hash, not a hash as we traditionally think of it but sliced baby potatoes with green and red bell pepper chunks and scallions with corned beef and two eggs any way you like them. It was beautiful and a generous serving. The cereal was tasty and what I needed to settle a stomach, comfort food. The space is small but turnover was quick and everyone was friendly. Duza's Kitchen is a wonderful experience. It is my favorite restaurant in Payson by far. The ambience is so eclectic and fun and the food is the best! My hubby and I both had omelette's and we asked that they be cooked in butter not oil and the Chef/Owner was happy to do that. It was the best omelette I've had in years. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. They also serve excellent coffee and espresso. The staff were the best and knew the unique menu well and could make recommendations. This is my new favorite restaurant in this region. Would love to go back for dinner some time when I'm in the area. read more

We stopped in on our way through town and it was the perfect place for lunch! It's a small venue with only about 10 tables inside and additional seating on the front porch. This quaint mom & pop restaurant has the feel of eating in a family living room with low ceilings and pictures all over the walls (for sale). We started with a tray of fresh fruit which was delicious and was followed by the Cheese Between Bread sandwich and the Skewers (meat). Both were absolutely delicious and obviously freshly made! We had a an amazing piece of Lemon Marscapone cake to finish things off. The afternoon couldn't have been better! This is our go to spot when we visit Payson. We are usually there for brunch. This is our first time for dinner. And boy it was on point. The mussels were great starters. Went inside because this place looks so cute. Front door was opened there were cool signs out front. We read the menus on the door and then walked in and it was really nicely decorated, but there was nobody in there .A dog came and tried to bite me and the owner came out and yelled at me. I can't even believe it. I told him your dog tried to bite me and he said yes because you are in my house? Ok I'm standing inside a restaurant but Ok please lock Your front door or put up a sign that says closed. He told me I was rude when I told him your dog just tried to bite me. Our experience was definitely not as good as the average Yelp review. We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning based on the stellar 4.7 star rating. The building, patio, and dining rooms are super cute and well appointed. We picked a table and got server attention quickly. They have a quirky thing where the parade a previously made platter of the special to each table. It seems a bit awkward, and one of the servers proved that by spilling it on the floor in the dining room. I told our server that we were avoiding carbs, and he nodded his head. I ordered the pork green chili with no tortilla. He brought me a bowl of pork green chile STEW full of potatoes. He came back to ask how our food was, and I asked why I was not warned of potatoes, and he shrugged and walked away. What appeared to be a manager came and asked us how our food was & I explained the situation. He also nodded, shrugged, and walked away. This seemed to be the answer to any problem. The scrambled eggs were actually very good. The pork in the STEW was overcooked and dry. The green chili was tomatillo base with pablanos and maybe jalapeño. It was mainly just potatoes. I have eaten here three times and I have had excellent service. I love the quaint charm of the restaurant and now that I am a resident of Payson I would like to be a regular. I have had dinner here and breakfast last night. I had the hunters strudel with my son having the beef Wellington. My only thing that I have not liked here is the noodles on my dish last night. There are nothing like what I used to have in Germany. They were different sizes different thicknesses somewhere undercooked somewhere overcooked, and this is not the standard here because I've eaten here three times and had wonderful food here. I can recommend the pheasant, I can recommend the beef Wellington, perhaps get something other than scalloped potatoes since it is a strange combination, I can write several breakfast items, and the desserts are very good. read more

I've been wanting to stop here for awhile & I'm sad to say I found myself underwhelmed. Super cute location. I love that they are pet friendly. The menu is creative & you can just taste the freshness & authenticity. The vegetables & herbs were front & center. Service was personable. The bummer was while you could taste the freshness of the produce, everything else was massively lacking on seasoning. The hollandaise tasted like a plain cream sauce (and hollandaise isn't even a technically a cream sauce). The pork was just meh. The green chili was lacking body & richness. Then there was my biggest restaurant pet peeve. They charge for their sides individually. I just can't justify spending that much per plate & not having a complete meal. No matter how good the meal is or how quality the ingredients are it makes me feel nickel & dimed. All in all I'm glad I went, but I don't feel like I have to go back. I feel like I know a lot of people that would love what their doing. I can think of several off the top of my head that love this flavor palette. I can definitely recommend them. I just can't recommend their green chili or hollandaise & won't be one fighting for a table. So overall I have to rate them middle of the road. read more

We had been to Duza's Kitchen a number of times when the restaurant was in Phoenix and absolutely loved it. When we were planning a day trip to Payson, I searched for places and was reminded that Duza's moved. Of course we had to visit. This restaurant is super quaint and homey. Their menu is pretty similar to what it was previously (from what I remember anyway for brunch). My husband ordered the House Hash & I got the Savory Crepe. The hash came with a good amount of meat and vegetables, eggs were cooked perfectly. The wild mushroom cream sauce in the crepe dish was absolutely phenomenal. There was a good amount of mushrooms inside the crepe itself, as well. We got the fruit plate for my son .. it came with some berries, kiwi, grapefruit, cantaloupe, & grapes plus some whipped ricotta & honey. I'd say a bit overpriced though .. Overall, super delicious food. Service was good too. They were very attentive in getting orders, bringing the check out, etc. Can't wait for our next getaway to Payson (mostly to dine here)! read more

After various failed attempts to eat Balkan food in Phoenix, this ended up somehow being my first time eating cevapi--or as Duza's menu calls them, "Balkan fingers." Much of the dish was excellent: the ajvar (roasted red pepper paste) and Balkan salad were fresh and great, and the bread was made to order though maybe a bit squishy. The sausages themselves were underwhelming, bearing a strange resemblance to American breakfast sausages rather than tasting quite so Balkan.
