This is a mom & pop kinda shop. Agreed with fellow Yelper, Ron, this place does remind me of Peter Pan. This place sells donuts and other stuff, ie: bagels, rolls. They're also a small diner, though, I never sat in and ate. I'm not sure if they sell other breakfast items. I think it's best to come early to get the full variety of the donut flavors, if you come later, certain flavors will probably be sold out. They open pretty early and close pretty early, so I'd understand if they wouldn't want to have a full stock of donuts after a certain time. No wasting donuts, that's a sin!!! It's a small and intimate space with counter service and a few tables. You can often find old-time regulars occupying their spots every morning before going about their day. WOH WOH WOH!!! I stopped by here and the owner, Mike's son (I forgot his name) was supperrrr friendly. I love to support local businesses and love donuts, so.... The donuts here are probably the closest you are going to get from the delicate, light and fluffy ones you get in SoCal (like those Vietnamese owned donut shops) which I love. The donuts here are light, fresh and sweet but not overly sweet like Krispy Kreme. My favorite is the plain sugar which is perfect for me as it is a little lighter for someone "watching their weight" (hah!). This place is awesome - quick, cheap, and a variety of breakfast bites. Note, during rushes, the space isn't very large for a line of people, but do your best to get the order in and you're set. For morning rushes, there's at least 2 guys that have their inner Flash brought out - moving to and fro without a break or halt, everything is always flowing from setting up the bagel, to grabbing a donut, creating the coffee, then bagging everything with your change ready. Always can count on Mikes for some lightly-toasted bagels with jelly and some apple triangular pies for the sweet craving. Sure the prices have increased a bit, but where hasn't really? The service is still good and the food is as expected for a quick bite. -In a rush for breakfast? Spare 3 minutes upon order and you're out. Having been raised by donuts from The Donut Hole and Cambodian-run donut shops in SoCal, I shouldn't be surprised. But after Donut Fest, where Mike's braved the crazy snow storm, it has been cemented. Let me tell you, Mike's has THE BEST crullers. They are seriously best donut I have ever had (need I remind you, I have done much donuting in NYC): crispy on the outside, soft and cake-like on the inside. It fills a need I didn't know I craved. Since moving to Brooklyn from Boston, I've been craving a good donut. Canvassing my neighborhood turned up nothing, so, I decided to make the long trek out to Bay Ridge to sample Mike's donuts. Needless to say, the donuts were worth the trip. The real winner here is the crumb donut - full of crumbly sugar goodness, this donut is a real delight. This place is awesome! They make their own donuts fresh daily. My favorite ones are the Bavarian cream. I usually get a dozen. A dozen costs $8. They're cash only so plan accordingly. Unfortunately our options were limited to the generic glazed, chocolate frosted, vanilla frosted and some others. I have eaten here a couple of times.....reminds me of the place my mother used to take us as children when we would buy cloths. I really didnt like the shopping part but the doughnut part was the best. I had a coffee roll or cinnamon bun whatever you like to call it, it was huge and sticky but so friggin delishious. The prices are really great for the quality of assorted treats here. I didnt try the coffee just the green tea in the box, but maybe next time. I'm usually in this area for Kebobs or Gyros. But I never noticed this until I'd seen them on the Food channel or Travel channel(sorry don't remember). Walked in and was amazed to see an old school coffee shop setup. Very friendly and attentive staff. I specifically came here for the "Pom-Pom" however I was too late :-(. Apparently these sell out super fast and they don't make more. Especially on weekends. I think I had a super sad face so the guy behind the counter told me he can actually stuff a "cruller" (because apparently its the same type of donut) with cream or jelly for me and I can then have my Pom-Pom!!! Mike's Donuts is a complete throwback to the old school donut (not "doughnut") shops in our fair land of 'Murica. Walk through the door and you'll imagine yourself at some highway diner where truckers get some quick nosh and caffeine fix before taking 1.5 lanes for the next 100 miles. Their prices and smiles are reflective of that kind of small town intimacy at this family-owned establishment. The wide variety of donuts and pastries will leave you pondering which lucky 12 get to be in your deep fried harem (aka the box), and even then you'll leave thinking "Damn, I should have gotten [insert flavor] instead. Oh well, next time then." And there will be a next time, don't mistake it. Cake donuts, yeast donuts, crullers, muffins, bagels, bialys, croissants, oh my! While I don't claim to have tried everything here, it wasn't from the lack of trying. While there isn't any singular donut that will stand out in this over-saturated market, I challenge anyone to find a more well-rounded dozen in NYC, especially at these prices. read more

Its one of the places that I literally go for its donuts and bagels. They are made fresh everyday around 6am. I come everyday before heading out to work and the prices s are the best in the city. Their coffee could need a different bean. Its seems way too burned but other than that this is the place for a morning breakfast and their bakery don't make you feel nauseous like dunk in donuts. My dad used to take me there when I was a kid to get 1/2 or full dozen donuts as a special treat. Loved their old fashioned and lemon filled. Now I'm not a kid no more, a lot has changed but I am so happy that this corner donut shop is still around. Every time I go back to visit my mom and family, always stop by for donuts and a cup of coffee. Love the donuts, can tell it's made by some one in the back kitchen, not some corporate franchise with baking done in a giant factory and shipped. When you bite into the donuts, just unpretentious goodness like the old days if not better. Love they still offer great prices and the Greek coffee cups.
