    Greek omelette and chicken club
    Brittany K.

Staying in Brooklyn and was hungry for brunch. This place was a quick walk and so I set off towards some eggs and Brooklyn bagels. Ordered the Greek omelet and my friend ordered a chicken club. My omelette was good but listen it's pretty hard to screw up eggs. The breakfast potatoes were good too and the bagel was classic New York. The staff was friendly but they could pay more attention. My friend specifically asked for no bacon in her sandwich and I asked for a wheat bagel. Somehow there was bacon in the sandwich and I ended up with a sesame bagel. Also had to ask twice for water. Otherwise it was solid. If in the area, it's a good decently priced breakfast or lunch.

Ordered a Grilled Chicken Breast Triple Decker for lunch. Delivery was prompt and food was still warm. The chicken was moist while the bacon was firm and chewy. There was quite a bit of sandwich and an ample tray of fresh fries.

    Boston Cream Donut

I live in the neighborhood, so I had to try this place. I was hoping it would be a secret donut wonderland, which it is not, but if you want decent bodega-quality coffee and donuts (the kind you'd get from a street cart in the city) this is not a bad spot! The coffee is weak rather than burned, which is my personal preference. The coconut donut was solid, and I'd get it again, as was the cruller. The Boston Creme donut had a nice filling, but the icing was crystallized and entirely too sweet. I wouldn't go out of my way for this, but if I was hungry and in the area, I'd stop by.

This used to be my to go to coffee shop. Service has diminished greatly, the service and food is inconsistent. I didn't rate this on a one time service, but this is my second consecutive time here this month and the food was served cold. My basic to go to is fries and eggs, and even so the fries were cold (how do you mess up fries and eggs). We had a party of three that ordered 4 different items, I guess my order was the first one made and they were waiting for everything to be done before the food was served. This is a hit or miss.

Donuts were outrageous. Light like pillows and not too greasy. Didn't try anything else but it was a good quick stop.

Was in the area and looking for a quick sandwich option…read more Came into Albemarle and they seemed like they had a variety of options (breakfast sandwiches, rolls/hero's etc). I chose to go with the JJ Sandwich (breaded chicken, mozzarella, jalapeños etc). I get to the cash register and a woman rings me up and mumbles something in another language to the man who's preparing the food she then proceeds to add a dollar onto my order and doesn't tell me why. Upon opening the sandwich, the chicken cutlet is soggy and seems like it was made days ago. Not sure if there other sandwiches are better but this sandwich for $13.50 was extremely underwhelming. I could've gotten a lunch special at a Thai restaurant down the street for cheaper and better food.

I will get the occasional breakfast sandwich (like an egg and cheese or bec), or a turkey/cheese sandwich for lunch or dinner. Otherwise, they have a pretty good menu of other types of sandwiches. Depending on who is making the sandwich, it will vary. Definitely a safe bet either way. They also have your usual snacks like potato chips, sodas, beers, and what not. I've been here a number of times because I'll be in the neighborhood. This is definitely one of my favorite bodegas around. My favorite part being how personable and friendly the family who runs it. They've now become a familiar face. Overall, a recommend for if you happen to be passing by. It's conveniently located by the F/G subway stop, so it's hard to miss.

I finally made it here for lunch and wow I was impressed!…read more They have a Mediterranean influenced menu and we ordered a few items which we loved. I ordered the chicken schwarma plate and falafel salad which were excellent - the fries were terrific and the overall atmosphere was to die for - it's a nice cozy space and the service was excellent The owner cares deeply about serving quality food at a reasonable price - they make challah bread over the weekends which sells out fast Definitely try this place you won't be disappointed

I was craving falafel and this is one of the few places that popped up in the neighborhood…read more I ordered a falafel sandwich and it was fresh and flavorful. I would definitely order again. Israeli style with pickles, which I love. The chickpea soup was a standout. So flavorful and nourishing; definitely a nod to the sopa de garbanzos that I grew up with. The generous portion of labane is rich and complimented by herbs and an excellent olive oil. But it only comes with one pita! Personally, I'd prefer a smaller portion with more bread. Ok, first, let's be accurate about a few things. Etymologically, "batata" comes from the Spanish for "potato." This is a nod to "Sephardic" Jews, from the Hebrew word for the Iberian Peninsula (by definition, Spain and Portugal; after "expulsion," this came to include a diaspora more broadly northern African. In order words, western and southern European, not Eastern like Ashkenazi Jews.)

The baguette was perfectly crisp on the outside while staying light enough to bite through. Every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful, the fillings were generous, and the pate added so much rich, savory flavor. I also loved that they chop up the cilantro, so you're not spending a whole minute trying to chew through the stems. Everything was packed together so well that the sandwich held its shape from the first bite to the last without falling apart. The inside feels like a classic Asian bakery, with shelves lined with snacks and baked goods to-go. This is the kind of bánh mì that reminds you why it's such a classic: simple and balanced perfectly. Definitely a spot I'll come back to.

I really thought I had reviewed Ba Xuyen before. I first ate here pre-pandy and it never occurred…read moreto me that I hadn't chimed in about this awesome spot. Well, let's clear that up now. The aunties are mentioned often in other reviews, and that's because they're amazing. They'll gladly explain what you need, especially when it comes to the super tasty (and extremely inexpensive) deserts that populate racks and the drink fridges here. Some are sweet, some are sour (the deserts, that is), they'll let you know. Honesty since a cake here is $5, you can afford to try everything! How on to the main reason that you came, the Banh Mi. You literally can't go wrong with any of the eight main sandwiches here. I've tried them all so you don't have to, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't. The bread is crispy, the ingredients are super fresh, and the tastes combine perfectly. The decor is perfect for this kind of spot. No frills. There are three tables and a bunch of chairs. It's exactly what I want in a takeout type place. They concentrate on the food. So, to wrap this one up. Go. I'd say that I'll be back, but I've been coming here for years. If you haven't, it's time to start.
