First Responders and Night shifters this is our place. I legit envy the locals who live on this side of Brooklyn. The location looks like a old school diner that extremely well kept. I always have a great experience here , bc night shift employees are always a good time. This location is cash only. The donuts stay fresh all day. The variety of donuts is nice as well. In due time I have to try their food but the place is always busy with people eating, the menu is full with breakfast, lunch and dinner options. This is my go to spot when im stranded at work and it makes me happy that this location is open late nights read more

I was very disappointed when I got the receipt for the breakfast I ordered. I ordered 2 scramble eggs with corn beef hash $11.25, add cheese $2, onions and mushrooms .75 cents, side order of sausage $5.75 and coffee $3.25, plus 8.9% tax, total of $25.05. The receipt was completely different. Because I was adding onion and mushroom they said they had to place it as an omelette. IT WAS SCRAMBLED! They charged me on the receipt 1 omelette $12, added cheese $2, onions and mushroom .75cents, sausage $5.75, corn beef hash $7, coffee $3.25, plus 8.9% tax, total $33.48. It seems like I was charged $7.75 extra. It didn't make sense. It's not because of the cost because this is New York but how it is in the menu and how you order it. I tried to speak with the Manager and was told because I added the onions and mushroom they had to charge it as an omelette. But then as an omelette seems like the corn beef hash didn't come with it so had to pay as a side. The food was good! The waitress was great! It's not just the cost, I was just not satisfied with how I was charged. read more

To be quite honest we were literally starving after attending a kids birthday party and couldn't find a place to grab some early morning breakfast . We drove past this diner and surprisingly for Christmas eve morning it was a full house . It was a typical diner setting , booth seats , no frills .... But everyone was so helpful and we didn't take long to get seated. We ordered the basics but also decided to try a french toast combo called the sunset and a side of fried cheese (dont ask, his head was pounding) Food was brought pretty fast and everything tasted great ! I literally have no complaints, and it was typical diner prices ! Such a pleasant surprise. Thanks guys read more

Total rip off, food is not good- it's ok at best. They pack it poorly to go. Maybe it's ok for breakfast. They don't follow instructions like well done medium ect. Food is poor quality, place looks clean though and staff was nice. I paid $35 for something I get at an awesome diner- the cyclone in Coney Island $24 there fresher better quality and bigger portion. This is my one and only time here - total Rip off. I felt like I wasted $35. read more

Love this place! It's cute, clean, and serves both classic diner and some Hispanic dishes, all with friendly customer service. It's cash-only, but there's an ATM on site, and they have an "A" rating from the health department!! read more

12am I'm starving & want pancakes sooooo here we are & let me tell you something. QUALITY diner. The chocolate chip pancakes were made from scratch and were absolutely delicious. I'm not a fan of eggs but when you're getting them on a deal, why not. But now the turkey bacon. See. I love me some turkey bacon and eat it frequently. When our waitress asked if I would like the turkey bacon well done I hesitated for a moment, I had never been asked that before. Since she stumped me I obliged and I am so happy I did because the cook on that turkey bacon was EVERYTHING. It had a beautiful char and smoky flavor without being burnt or too crunchy. SPD is a jewel in Sunset Park. They have been consistent throughout the pandemic, preparing best breakfast in the borough. So glad they have survived and remain purr go-to Sunday brekkie spot. Coffee is delicious, omelettes perfect, pancakes simply delicious. Reasonable prices, good service, and cash only-- so hit the ATM and treat yourselves! I only got Munchies Fries Im from Baltimore so this was my 1st time trying this place. It was 4am. Customer Service Excellent. Everyone in the restaurant was friendly and answered all my questions with no problem. I definitely switch my Munchies fries into "Love Amazin Fries" lol they got it right tho. Food is good but over priced for the area, there not in park slope or Bay ridge, customer service is ok, but at times they forget or get your order wrong. I usually order scrambled eggs with bacon and home fries, I didnt order home fries with left over scrap, burnt stuff on the grill, hey I know your busy and working fast to attend orders, but your paying for your food and want quality not quantity or left over burnt bacon, over, a cup of coffee is 3:00 due to inflation or like the guy said, COVID, really. read more

As I am basically a lifer in the Sunset Park area, I have frequented this diner many many times, but over the last several years my experience is mostly with delivery. The food is good, the staff is nice when you enter the diner, they do not accept cards, only cash which can be tremendously inconvenient. However, they do have an ATM machine in the diner. it's relatively small and gets very crowded on weekends, especially Sunday mornings. Now for the delivery phase, they often take quite a long time when you order for delivery and the men who bring you the food often play the confused role or claim not to have change so they can get a much larger tip than what they should. Overall, the food is decent, but they should send the men out with change also. the portions are relatively small, but other than that, I am happy with the service they provide. read more

I got a Philly cheesesteak deluxe with onion rings and it was fresh, except for the lettuce that was in a Ziploc bag, which was withered. Other than that, I really enjoyed the meal, it was very tasty; the homemade iced tea was really good as well. read more

Ordered via Grubhub. They were offering 25% off for a first order. Chose a variety of diner standards. Delivery guy shows up with receipt for the full amount. Had to spend 30 minutes disputing this error with Grubhub while the hot food sat on my counter. None of the special requests were honored. Limp, anemic fries, oil saturated, rotten fried fish filet, brisket so dry that it fell to crumbled pieces after the first bite of the sandwich. The 2 stars are for the best blueberry pie I ever had. read more

Food isn't bad as it's cheap diner food (not hard to mess up). b ut whatever you do, DONT ORDER TAKEOUT ON AN APP. Friends and I had a late night a few weeks back and wanted to order some food to my apartment. We placed our order around 2am. The grub hub app claimed the food would take 40 minutes to prepare and 20 minutes to deliver. Nice. It is now 3:30am and I call to check on food, guy who answers says "it'll be there soon". I call again at 4am, guy says "itll be there soon." I call again at 430am and they stopped answering my calls! haha. The grub hub app said the food was delivered and we never received it! We all cut our losses and go to bed. My buzzer rings at 5:30am!!! THe food arrived, the driver was rude and the chow was soggy. Never again. read more

I liked this restaurant, but unfortunately will not be ordering anymore due to two bad experiences I had through Seamless. A couple months ago, I ordered food and left instructions for a contactless delivery. I received a picture of my food at an apartment building that was not my own-different color building, different door, different stairs, etc. I texted back several times with no answer. I received a refund from the app and had no trouble the next time I ordered, and because of that, I assumed it was a one-off situation. I just ordered again, and received a call that my food was outside. I immediately went downstairs and outside to my front door, and my food was nowhere to be found. I went on my phone to call the driver back, and when I did so, I realized that it was the same phone number as the driver who stole my food the first time. I received another refund. I called Sunset Park Diner to let them know about the situation, and the woman I spoke with immediately got defensive. Instead of asking questions, she told me that I was wrong, and that due to my "special instructions," which she read out to me in a condescending tone, the driver left the food outside the door and some random person on the street must have stolen it in the seconds between the call and me walking to the front door. Besides the fact that the street was completely empty when I went outside, this situation has never happened to me with any other restaurant on Seamless, ever. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this is not right. I thought it would be nice place to continue eating at since I am moving into a new apartment very close by, but I can't do so after what happened. Do not order from here if you don't want to run the risk of your food being stolen and experience getting gaslighted by their coworker. read more

I went there at 3 am with friends and asked for water for my drink with my food . The server said he cannot serve water because he was busy and we jus buy water bottles. We then said he was being rude and we are canceling the order . he said he dosent care . I have never experienced going to a restaurant where they dnt serve tap water . This has to be one of the worst experiences I've had ordering food. The driver refused to come up to my apartment and cancelled the order. When I called the restaurant, the receptionist told me that the driver had cancelled the order because I cursed him out, something I never did. The receptionist and everyone I talked to at the restaurant was extremely rude. I have never experienced a restaurant so unprofessional! Please do not order from here!!! read more

Sunset Park Diner & Donuts is right on the corner with street parking in 4 directions (we were half a block away for free). The food is standard diner fare. Booths are comfy. Restroom timer is hysterical, it's on like a 30 second on/off cycle so be prepared to waive at it while conducting your business. Pancakes and waffles come in a stack of 3, which will be plenty when considering the rest of your sides. The best part of the place is Doneeta. She's a gem. Great smile, polite, and always checking on you. Made me and my wife feel like family. Thanks D! Also, only payments in cash are OK, but there's an ATM at the door. read more

This is often where my husband and I go for breakfast after he does a 24 hour call shift and it's pretty good. An extensive menu -- just what you'd hope for from a diner and the food is pretty decent. They've got all the breakfast fixings - waffles, pancakes, eggs, roasted potatoes, toast, sausage, bacon.. you get the idea. All of it tastes pretty good but I wouldn't call it amazing. I often get a club sandwich (all of their sandwiches seem pretty good actually) when I come but try to stay away from their soup because it isn't particularly tasty. My cousin also got a penne dish when we went once and it also didn't look very appealing. That said, I haven't tried everything. Service is decent here (the staff is always kind and attentive and swing back often) and you're always able to get a booth. It has coffee refills which is a must when you're in a diner which is great -- but their coffee is pretty bitter. It's diner coffee, so don't expect it to be tasty! We continue to come back due to the extensive menu, the great staff, and ease of eating here. The prices are also ultra reasonable. I always leave wondering why I paid so little for a decent meal! While I don't think this place is perfect it's exactly what a diner ought to be. I love that this classic diner is a part of my neighborhood and it's one of the many reasons I'm proud to live here. read more

A 24/7 diner with good food, that's cheap, that serves generous portions, that delivers at all hours of the night AND has an extensive menu? Love the "old-New York" quality this place exudes. If you're looking for "hipster" bells and whistles this place 'aint it. Think instead of 1980s New York that didn't live with on an iPhone-Life Support or cared for Wi-Fi or any hipster stuff of that nature. This is a place for good and affordable food...a no frills diner, if you will. Bring a friend and conversate instead of updating your Twitter / Facebook status. The waitress working the late late shift is sweet and could not be more lovely. Might be our new favorite 24/7 diner. Fast service, excellent diner food. Everything you could possibly want in a Brooklyn diner. Recommend the tacos, 2 egg breakfast, and curly fries (best item to order at 1am). Donuts are probably much better in the morning versus midnight. Have yet to try one in the daylight hours, it's tough when you're living the night owl life. Around since 1981, longer than most millennials, duck in here to avoid them. Unpretentious, but quality late night eats. read more

Established in 1984.

This establishment was opened as a donut shop in 1984 by two immigrant brothers who came to this country to find the American dream. Through hard work and an unwavering work ethic they operated the business for 25 years. In 2007 they closed the restaurant for renovations and their children took over the resposibility of serving the neighborhood.

It went like this - "A dozen doughnuts please" and I began pointing at quite regular looking donuts (all in the same rows) or so I thought. " thats a dollar extra" ( boston creme) hm ok " thats a dollar extra" ( coconut creme) hm ok " thats a dollar extra" ( boston creme stick) hm ok " thats a dollar extra" ( french cruller white icing hm ok " thats a dollar extra" (french cruller chocolate icing) hm ok " Two small coffees also please " HM are those the small?? I kid you not they were TINY kid sized The cup size I have never seen before. They must special order them for samples or something. Ok so "They are wayyy too tiny so - medium please" Out came the typical small sized cup - Hmm so ok. Let's ring and go I'm thinking. Next the woman is struggling with a paper by the register trying to figure out the coat of this dozen donuts (plus five with her added $1's) - then more struggle and I said " it's a dozen plus $5" thats $29.50". "Oh no you don't have a dozen". Apparently the extra $5 disqualified my "dozen". I know what you're thinking but No- no special donuts from some other case - no coffee rolls etc - i'm a NY'er and know a donut from a special roll etc. You need to buy five more for a dozen. "Oh? No, I have a dozen and am paying you five up charges as you stated." Next thing she is ringing the donuts individually Plus the extra $5 Which makes NO sense. But gets her another added $5 or so. Why would they keep quoting me add ons to my dozen if no dozen existed once you added a Boston creme etc. She raced to the manager. The Brooklynites thought ne a mean old lady for saying you're overcharging me'. The manager flew over - a young man huffy and emphatic that the five very ordinary donuts that were $5 more converted my dozen to a different price per donut. Then they said something funny to me - "would you like me to take those out and give you regular donuts?". No. (See update for more) " No those are the ones I want " but you just over charged me - I'll take them. But you are overcharging me. Thank you. Holy mackerel - just glad to be on the way out WITH the donuts of course- I was not furious or anything- and the donuts were never at risk- I'd not walk out on the donuts - My advice is to be more transparent in pricing and not deem very basic donuts special donuts - making your customers feel ripped off.- Better just to charge more for the dozen. And.. like other shops put any supposed special donuts in a special donut area - like coffee rolls, big fritters etc. That's how it's Typically done. This is New York! You can't pull that here. This is a place where people pay $6 for a good cookie. They are not cheap. Don't be weird at the register. And those cups Come on - are you KIDding me - pun intended. I left holding on to my wallet a lot tighter. And that is not NYstyle. I felt like some war was on and was ready to start stacking change. I'm also half Italian! So for me - This was one weird cheapskate experience. So that's my review. --------------------Update - Follow up to reply ------------------------------- Hi Demetrios, Thank you for replying. I generally stay positive on reviews. Like I said it was the aggressive way I was treated that was the no go for me. What I left out of the review was worse! For instance - your counter person began reaching to open the box saying she was taking out donuts to replace them with others. She grabbed the box and actually began getting ready to fling donuts around. It was totally weird. Had she actually not stopped trying to untie when asked I would have not taken them. It weirded me out. You say you keep the business the same since 1993? Well where is the Jelly Stick? A New Yok classic. So much for keeping it the same. Its on the sign over the counter and you don't make them any more .. so It is Not the same as it once was. Got ya! jk. And no.. no no.. I am Never mean or rude... just willing to say something. Ok so the coffee.. if its really $1 I get it.. its a nice gesture to your customers... they had something like that in Montauk.. a tiny beer for $1 at a place called Liar's Saloon. So ok.... right on you. Update /3

I went once at 9PM and they only had glazed and coconut donuts left and once at 10AM and they had the whole gauntlet. Service was amazing, was greeted quickly both times and they were happy to help you pick a mix or you can choose any that you want. The shop is small with limited seating and it is near the bus stop and train station so I can imagine that they get busy during certain times. Overall, great old fashion type diner that I hope to visit again and try their other options.
