This has to be one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. We have been here several times and the more we try, the better it gets. Truly some of the best pasta you can find in this city and the dover sole is to die for (#1 recommendation from the menu with the side of crispy potatoes). My favorite pasta is the tagliatelle and the vesuvio, but my husband loves the black truffle (truly hard to choose just one). Menu is a bit pricey, but food quality, location, atmosphere, and service are top tier. Drinks are also great, and wine list has great choices! Perfect place for intimate birthdays, anniversaries, business dinners, or just a nice date night. Could not recommend this restaurant enough, truly think it deserves more recognition and hope it gets it in the future. read more

Definitely not a five star restaurant and did not meet the expectations. Been wanting to come here for a while and finally made the time. The place seemed a bit hectic lots of people standing by the door and took a bit for a server to actually come and introduced themselves after being seated. The drinks were yummy, no complains there. The crudos however I'm not one to post a review and ever mention prices. I'm used to Michelin star restaurants, but do not charge me $20+ for a crudo when you just thinly sliced one scallop and put it in an oversized plate and on top of it is a regular scallop no even a diver scallop. Well that's was that, flavor on point but the place does not meet the price point of the appetizers. Overall the food was good. Will I go back absolutely no, but I got to try it been there done that. What a beautiful place! It gave Coastal Rivera ambiance with sophistication. Located in Coral Gables. I tried looking to park on my own but it was a busy time do there weren't any street parking. I did see a parking garage but after searching I decided to valet. It is directly across from the restaurant. The place was very welcoming, the staff was friendly and seated our group once everyone arrived. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us suggestions since it was everyone's first time. It was our girls dinner out! We ordered cocktails from the menu that were good and refreshing. For starters we had the hamachi, tuna carpaccio, Cesar salad, and lobster burrata. The dishes were all very good but my favorites were the hamachi and Cesar salad! Then for our main dishes of course we did pasta to share around the table. We had the Vesuvio, a Tomato and calabrian chili cream), Sphaghetti, a blue crab, caviar, lemon butter, and last the Fusilli , a Red wine braised octopus, bone marrow, mollify). They were all delicious! We finished the Vesuvio it was a lil spicy and so creamy! We loved it. The Sphaghetti with the caviar to top off our taste buds yummy! The Fusilli was very good. Let me start by saying that my wife and I are self-proclaimed foodies. We're not professional critics, but we know and appreciate good food when we taste it. Unfortunately, we left extremely disappointed with this restaurant. The location and décor are beautiful, no doubt. But when you're paying premium prices--especially for something as simple as pasta--you expect the service to match. It didn't. Here's what happened: we had reservations for four, yet upon arrival the host seemed confused and told us they were full. (We HAD reservations, so that was baffling.) Once seated, our waiter never mentioned the Miami Spice menu--we had to ask. After placing our order, he returned 20 minutes later to say one of the entrées wasn't available. Instead of bringing a menu to offer alternatives, he asked for ours back, leaving us to wait another 10 minutes to reorder. By the time that dish was placed, the rest of us had already finished our appetizers. Service throughout the meal was equally careless--no pre-bussing of plates, staff and even managers walked past our table without noticing. The food itself tasted good, but for the price point, this was easily one of the worst service experiences we've had. Honestly, I've had smoother service grabbing a Cuban sandwich at Sergio's. Try it yourself if you like, but for us, it's highly unlikely we'll ever return. read more

The front door was locked on one side and I told her about that and her response was to use the other side. Wrong answer! Go get a key and unlock the other door. Mika - Coral Gables' Best Kept Italian Secret Absolutely love this place. Mika, originally from New York, is hands-down my favorite Italian restaurant in Miami. Located in Coral Gables, it brings that NYC edge with a laid-back Miami vibe. The food is phenomenal. Their octopus pasta is one of the best dishes I've had anywhere--perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and so unique. The truffle pasta is equally incredible--creamy, aromatic, and just the right amount of indulgent. The ambiance is cool and classy, with a great crowd but not overly loud or pretentious. Best of all? The prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality. The service is spot on. There was a bit of wait to get us our table because the place was packed but we had a drink at the bar. If you're in Coral Gables and love Italian food, Mika is a must. You'll probably end up coming back weekly like I do. read more

I have visited Mika in Coral Gables about three times for both lunch and dinner and every single time I loved it. Because I always had such a great experience, I decided to host my bridal shower here and it was the best decision I could have made. Divin, the amazing coordinator who helped me plan everything, could not have been more wonderful. She was so hands on, so personable, so sweet, and always kept me informed throughout the entire process. Being a bride can be stressful and she is exactly the kind of person you hope to meet during wedding planning. She made everything feel easy and enjoyable and I am so grateful for her. The service was 10 out of 10, the food was 10 out of 10, and the ambiance was 10 out of 10. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, not only for regular dining which has always been exceptional, but also for my private event. We had a Saturday 6PM reservation for three--my husband, our 2-year-old daughter, and myself. I've dined here before, as I work in the plaza building nearby. An hour before our reservation, I called to ask if they had a kids menu since I couldn't find one online. The hostess told me this was a fine dining restaurant and they do not offer a kids menu or make any accommodations for children. I asked if the chef could prepare a variation or anything child-friendly, and she firmly said no. I was taken aback by how dismissive the response was and decided to cancel the reservation. A few weeks later, I walked into Mika downstairs and spoke to the manager at the host stand. While she apologized, she didn't ask for the date or time of the incident--it felt like she wasn't genuinely interested in addressing the concern. It's disappointing and surprising that a restaurant in Coral Gables--an area full of families--would take such a stance against serving children. Fine dining should not mean excluding families. I would highly recommend that the restaurant owner focus on staff training (manager included) and implement checks and balances to ensure families feel welcome and that incidents like this don't happen again. read more

My mom, dad, and I went to Mika to check out their 3-6 PM happy hour. When we walked in we were wowed by the ambience and the decor of the restaurant. My mom had seen online that it was first come first serve at the bar and the lounge. When we got there the bar was completely packed and the lounge was fully reserved for an event. Despite this, the staff jumped in right away and accommodated us with a table near the bar and the lounge. The staff were definitely younger which was so refreshing to see at an upscale restaurant. We got very luck with Charles as our server. He was great! The staff was extremely attentive and even offered us complimentary melon with prosciutto and ice cream cones! My mom and I ordered a lychee martini (delicious) and my father had the $5 beer! We got some fried olives and the hummus platter with the warm pita - my favorite! Mika does it right in every aspect of fine dining. We arrived with a wonderful greeting from the reception desk to the waiters about to start their night. I have reviewed fine dining restaurants where the greeting was offensive and it means so much when it is done right! The restaurant is beautiful in a new section of Coral Gables that is just lovely. We sat at a round table. We started with both of their salads. My favorite was the Caesar and the hamachi. My hubby and I shared the chicken and the rib eye. Both were super tasty. We ended with the budino for dessert which was rich and delicious. The cocktails are awesome and we shared a bottle of wine from Armenia. It was good and truly one of the only bottles under $100.00. She was inviting and explained every dish recommendation with passion. We followed all her suggestions. We started with the wagyu carpaccio which was spectacular. We also had the Wagyu tiradito which was also very good. As our main plate we selected the veal parmigiana and Caesar salad which was enough for two. We found the veal to lack a bit of flavor but it was tender and served hot, which is a must. For desert, Luana pushed us for on the cocounut rice pudding, pointing out that the name didn't do it justice, she was absolutely right. We have enjoyed 3 special diners at Mika's. Each time is exemplary in food and service. The restaurant is beautiful inside (once you find the entry) and being greeted by Ennio is a plus. We have preferred sitting in the bar area with the soft curved benches. Recommendations are beef carpaccio, scampi (langoustines), saffron gnocchetti, ribeye and bistecca fiotentina are both excellent to share. The Assistant General Manager, Nicholas Scarnati, truly elevated the experience. His expertise, warmth, and impeccable hospitality were unmatched--and let's not forget how dapper and funny he is! The portions are generous too. As a huge ginger fan, I couldn't resist the Lemon & Ginger Margarita--and wow. It was perfectly balanced, with real ginger flavor. We couldn't get enough; this will definitely be my go-to drink when I return. They start you off with warm, house-made bread that's so good it sets the tone for the rest of the meal. I am writing to share feedback on our family's experience at MIKA on Mother's Day. Unfortunately, it reflected a fundamental failure in hospitality. We arrived as a party of four, two adults and two young children ages 7 and 8. We were informed at check-in that the restaurant was offering a $125 prix fixe menu. That was expected for a holiday, and we were prepared for it. However, the menu was clearly designed for adults, with dishes such as beef tartare and artichoke hearts. We asked if a simple butter pasta could be prepared for the children. The server confirmed that it could, but that each child would still be charged the full $125. We asked to speak to a manager, assuming this was a policy with some flexibility, particularly for children who would not be consuming anything close to the value of that menu. The manager repeated the pricing policy and made no effort to engage, understand the situation, or offer a solution. He said pricing was per seat and that ownership did not allow exceptions. The rest of the service mirrored that attitude. It was inattentive and disinterested. Basic hospitality was lacking. It was difficult to flag staff, water glasses sat empty, and no one ever checked in on the table. We are Miami locals and frequent many of the city's top restaurants, from Carbone, Bouchon to Ceviche 105, often bringing other local families with us. We understand the concept of a prix fixe menu and the importance of policies, but we also understand when service misses the mark. This was not a matter of cost. It was a matter of poor judgment, inflexibility, and a disregard for the guest experience. Of all days, to treat families this way on Mother's Day, as if it were surprising that mothers might dine with their children, was the mother of all failures. If I was a business owner I would want to know. We will not be returning. read more
