We've only done takeout at Migoto so those five stars I'm happily giving them are entirely for their excellent sushi. It's beautifully prepared--generously cut and deeply flavorful with a welcome tinge of creativity. Everything is served in recyclable cardboard boxes instead of plastic, another positive. And they prepare their orders quickly. My wife and I have become regulars, and we've never been disappointed. Quite the opposite! read more

These are the previous owners of I Love Wasabi that was on 12th and Jackson. Nina and John are the best! Super friendly and always treat us as if we were at their own home. I think the fish quality is even better at their new location. The ambience is nice, clean, modern, inviting. We recently had a chirashi bowl (I requested just salmon and yellowtail), a calamari salad, and tempura udon. All were scrumptious! Prices are similar to other sushi spots maybe even a bit more reasonable for what you get. We will definitely continue to be loyal and frequent customers. read more

The best place for sushi! I really love the unagi sushi. The place is also decorated really well and nice. I've gone here on a few occasions and each time its so delicious and amazing. The sushi is very fresh and made with a lot of effort and thought! I also made a special request to have "i love you" written on my plate (last pic) so if you want to do something special (talking to you romantics ) this is a great place. Superb in every way! Fantastic food. Welcoming vibe. Every item we ordered met or exceeded our expectations. We ate at the bar and watched Chef Dave work his magic. He even surprised us with a few tasty treats at no charge. Tina was our server, and I wish all servers could learn from her. She anticipated what we needed, was warm and friendly. Some of our favorite menu items were the calamari salad, the Hula Roll, creamy scallop sushi, and the Lychee Pearl martini. (They do a generous pour of the top shelf liquor, BTW.). We shared a slice of coffee flan at the end of our feast. First time there, definitely will put this little restaurant in heavy rotation. read more

Omg! We were looking for a good, centrally located sushi place for lunch today and I was excited to see the great ratings for Migoto. Our party of 5 was quickly seated - I was glad we arrived early because the place was filling up fast! Our group ordered everything from yakisoba to sashimi, and several rolls. Everyone also got tea and miso soup. Comments like "wow" and "OMG" were heard around the table. The miso soup was absolutely some of the best I have ever had. The rolls were so fresh, and perfectly presented - my fave was the Samurai Roll which featured soft shell crab and spicy tuna. I also ordered the ginormous salmon teriyaki bento box, which included amazingly fresh salmon in a not-to-sweet sauce, which rice, a tasty salad with house-made ginger dressing, a California Roll *and* tempura vegetables! It was almost too much to eat, and at the $12.50 lunch special price it was a steal of a deal. My son's portion of chicken yakisoba was also huge - I'm sure he enjoyed the rest of it for dinner later. My parents, who are vegan, also found plenty to choose from on the very extensive menu, and my daughter raved about her sockeye salmon sashimi. Migoto is a great spot to get sushi and Japanese food at. My friends and I decided to go here after we went to the Space Needle and Glass Garden. We came in to do outdoor dining, but it was too cold outside even though our server set up two heaters for us, so we just decided to order takeout and eat in the car. The lady who helped us was so sweet. She was understanding and decided to give us a $15 gift certificate for the next time we come in. Our food was ready within about 20 minutes considering the fact that there were four of us and only one person working the kitchen and sushi station. I ordered a Salmon Don and the salmon was so fatty, it melted in my mouth. It also came with a side of miso soup, which was perfect for the weather. This is the rare Japanese restaurant open during 2-5pm (as others close during this time). We got the bento box, nabeyaki udon, paradise roll, and royal dragon roll. Both rolls were delicious. My nephew loved the tempura in his bento. I sampled some of his chicken, it was kinda off to me. I didn't taste the udon but it looked beautiful coming out and the small seafood pieces looked really tender. Note: if you come after 2:50pm, the menu automatically becomes dinner (for example, you can't get the smaller, cheaper lunch bento). There's also free parking, which I appreciated. Migoto was great! We enjoyed the Sashimi Dinner, Uni Sashimi and a few rolls. The Rainbow Roll was probably one of the best versions of that roll we've ever eaten. The Mountain roll was another fave and is recommended! All of the sashimi was tasty and the uni(!) was very generous for the price. Service was exceptional. We were going to dine on their patio, but decided to eat indoors. We were there at 6pm on a Tuesday (and Seattle had just started to allowed indoor dining) so we were the only party seated inside. Hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever been to! To me, a good restaurant isn't just about its good food but also has good service, a good environment, and is in a good location and Migoto has it all! Service: The staff is excellent and the service was impeccable! I came with a huge group and they made sure we were satisfied customers from the beginning to the end! They went above and beyond and made sure our drinks were always refilled, constantly checking to see if we needed anything else and if we liked the food. Food: this is a Japanese fusion restaurant so they have a huge variety of food to choose from. We ordered many things from udon, sushi rolls, sashimi, bentos to many stir-fried dishes and even desserts. Everything tasted great! Some of my favorites were the hula roll, the omakase sashimi (chefs choice), the nabeyaki udon and some of the bento items. Everything was so flavorful, the fish was super fresh, the beef ribs from the bentos were super well-flavored. I highly recommend also getting the mango pudding dessert or tempura ice cream! You will not regret ! Environment and location: the restaurant is located in a central location right across from Seattle university. Even though it is in a busy area, the restaurant comes with its own parking which makes it super convenient! The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and has many modern features! The restaurant also serves a variety of tasty cocktails if you and your friends are down for some drinks and good times! I will definitely be returning to Migoto in the future as it will be one of my go-tos now! Generic sushi restaurant, and family owned, I believe. I've been a couple of times and each experience is different, overall the sushi itself was very good, fun and tasty rolls, nothing original though. The service itself is a little lackluster, everyone but the sushi chef and kitchen seem to have a really hard balancing customers and being attentive. I'll give this place another try, simply because it's close to my apartment, and hopefully my next experience will improve my opinion on this place as I'm trying harder to support local business! read more

This was a very yummy place to eat. The GYOZA was soft, warm, and paired well with our entrees (I had the Royal Dragon Roll). I called for same day reservations and we all loved our meals. We can say we were treated kindly by our server, the wait times for food to table was great, and we had drinks filled every time we needed them with no ask. This is my current favorite sushi spot. I have been in a search for a good Nabiyaki udon ever since Sanmi Sushi closed years ago. Through yelp I found good reviews on Migoto's Nabiyake Udon. This is my favorite winter dish in Seattle even though my favorite place is in Honolulu. I've been to Migoto three times and have not tried the Udon yet. On our first visit we saw the owner/sushi chef John and realized we knew him but lost him for over 15 years. He was our favorite at Mikato in the I district. Great to be reacquainted and enjoy amazing sushi. I am a little bit of a sushi snob. Goes without saying that fish has to be fresh and handled properly. Yasss. 4.5 stars. New sushi restaurant in the area. It replaced the previous Vietnamese restaurant that was there, which I never tried before. We decided to try Migoto out and was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was not packed even though it was a Friday night. Probably because it's only the third day of since opening. Ambience: cozy, friendly, and inviting. Space is small, but you can choose to sit at the sushi bar or at a table in the restaurant. Food: Fresh sushi and refreshing. We ordered the chicken karagge, Sushi B combination, Dragon Roll, and hot green tea. The chicken karagge was lightly breaded and tasty. They gave us two dipping sauces, sweet chili sauce and a sriracha mayo type of sauce. Not a fan of the sweet chili sauce, but its available. The sushi B combo was a nice surprise: fresh fish and the california roll was better than expected. Not too much rice on the sushi and the crab was chilled. I love eel, so ordered the dragon roll. I will definitely order the dragon roll again. Nice ratio of shrimp tempura, eel, and sauce on top. Some places drench the roll in sauce, but tonight it was balanced real nice. -0.5 points because even though there was no one there, (like 2 other couples), the food took a while to be served. Decided to check this place out as it's close to our home. I would say it's a typical Japanese-American place. Decently sized with table, bar, and patio seating and we got in quickly for a res for a party of 7. Between all of us we got several sushi rolls (average-good), katsu (really dry even with the sauce), yakisoba (good!), takoyaki (also good), agedashi tofu (average-good). I don't know if I'd go back again but in a pinch might order sushi takeout from here! read more

I went with my boyfriend for dinner since my roommate recommended this place for its good portion and affordable prices. But they have a totally different menu pricing for dinner. It's more expensive yet more portions for dinner. We ordered Nabeyaki udon and Poke Don bowl. The fish pieces were so fresh and melts in your mouth. Udon was freshly made too and filling! Since they had a grand opening, we got to try their delicious homemade mango pudding. The woman who helped us was fairly nice and told us next year they will have happy hours. Came here on a Friday night at 6 and it was pretty empty. We made reservation for 7. We ordered a California Roll and Avacado Roll for starters. The sushi was really tasty and I could tell it was freshly rolled. For the entree I got the Chicken Katsu. It came with a bowl of Miso Soup, which was hot and good. The Chicken Katsu came with a good sized hearty salad with a light ginger dressing, which was delicious. The Chicken Katsu portion was huge, I don't even think I ate half of it, gotta love leftovers. The Katsu was breaded and crispy, it was very good too. All the food was good, but my favorite part was the Banana Spring Roll. It was a fried spring roll with banana filling in one and strawberry in the other topped with chocolate sauce, add in ice cream and whipped cream and it was amazing! The service seemed a little slow and we all ordered our food at the same time but a couple dishes came out at a time and not all at once. Other than the timing, no complaints.
