I first used Revive Auto Care to replace a control arm on my Infiniti QX60. I found them on Yelp, appreciated their positive reviews, and liked that they communicated over text. That repair went well, so when my AC started blowing hot air, I decided to return. They initially charged me $100 for diagnostics and a refrigerant top-off, then told me I needed a new compressor and quoted approximately $1,200. I dropped the vehicle off on Tuesday. By Wednesday and Thursday, they still had not identified the issue, but they continued replacing parts including the compressor, condenser with receiver drier, premium line kit, secondary rear AC expansion valve, blend door actuator, cabin filter, and recharged the AC system. By Friday, the vehicle was still not repaired, and they ultimately determined that the battery was bad and not providing enough amperage to properly run the AC system. They replaced the battery and told me the issue was fixed, which naturally made me question whether all of the previously replaced parts were actually necessary. The total had also increased to approximately $2,500, and at no point during the process was I contacted for approval on the additional repairs and charges. When I picked up the vehicle Friday evening, the AC was still blowing hot air. In addition, the vehicle was revving abnormally both while driving and while sitting in neutral. It is now Tuesday, and my messages have gone unanswered. On Saturday, I brought the vehicle to Infiniti for another opinion. I was told that the AC system had been overcharged by 1.73 lbs of refrigerant, which they said was causing the issues I experienced after picking the car up. I understand that diagnosing AC problems can be difficult and unexpected issues can happen, but the lack of communication, failure to request approval for major additional repairs, and returning the vehicle in worse condition than when it was dropped off made this a very disappointing experience.

Updated my 1-star review to a 3-star because ultimately they did the right thing and refunded me…read morethe cost of the vehicle inspection. Of course, they did not admit any wrongdoing and refunded me on the premise of "customer satisfaction" (which for legal reasons, I understand). All nice people but their poor vehicle inspection cost me thousands in repairs that were completely missed (so I overpaid for the car I bought). Their arguments were the seller may have cleaned-up the vehicle before the inspection to hide issues and that over 1,000 miles were driven between their inspection and the subsequent car inspection/repairs that occurred 2 months later. The allegation of seller clean-up is possible but not a proven fact in this case; it certainly wasn't pointed out during the inspection. The mileage argument is fair but collectively, neither of these assertions, even IF all true, is not a complete answer. Issues with the vehicle that take years to build up should have been pointed out during the inspection and were completely overlooked; including a bad steering gear box, cracked bushings, cracked right and left lower control arms, loose sway bar worn beyond repair, blown out front shocks, severely unevenly worn tires, which all cost over $5K to replace. I feel those were pretty obvious issues that a qualified auto technician would have easily caught and noted on the inspection report. Based on my experience, my suggestion for people interested in getting a vehicle inspection is you may be better off paying twice the price somewhere else and avoid Half Price Auto. Check the BBB.

As a first-time customer, I was disappointed with my experience. I scheduled an inspection and was…read moretold it would take about "half an hour." I understand that automotive work can sometimes take longer than expected, but after an hour and a half I had to ask for an update because no one had communicated the delay. I noticed on the front desk computer that I was entered into the system as a drop-off, even though I was waiting for my vehicle. I always wait during appointments, and if that impacts how service is prioritized, it should have been confirmed when scheduling. I also noticed there appeared to be either a misunderstanding or scheduling issue with another customer who had an appointment after mine, which raised concerns about how appointments were being managed. When I asked for an update on the timing, the response I received felt dismissive. The employee responded that "nothing is ever a half an hour, not here, not any shop." I understand that estimates can change and that inspections may take longer than expected, but my concern was not that it took longer--it was that I was given an estimate, waited significantly beyond that timeframe, and had to ask for an update myself. The employee told me he would check on the timing and get back to me, but I did not receive an update afterward. Instead, he returned to the office and continued working with vehicles. Another employee also said he would check on the status and where the first employee was at, but I did not receive an update from him either. A simple update or revised timeframe would have gone a long way. The inspection, which was quoted at approximately 30 minutes over the phone, ultimately took about two hours and cost around $100. The findings included recommended back strut replacement, brake fluid service, and a battery replacement, with an estimated total of around $1,760. They also identified a bent rim, but I did not appear to receive a quote for that item despite requesting one. I have no doubt that their technicians have the knowledge and skills to diagnose and repair vehicles, and that expertise has value. However, expertise does not replace the need for clear communication and respect for a customer's time. I was hoping for a shop that values the customer's time as much as their own. Given this experience, along with pricing that appears to be higher than other shops I have compared in the area, I am uncertain whether I will return for future service. I hope the shop improves its scheduling process and communication with customers when delays occur. ******* Edit in response to their Google review commentary: It's worthwhile to note the company response below essentially argues pricing (which was never contested as explained in my above review). The pricing was provided for other individual's knowledge of business pricing and a stated reason for hesitation in repeated business. There was no argument to the state of the car either-- it's at a shop as it needs repair. I went to one other business, not multiple as was stated in person and over the phone-- indicating a lack of clarity again with notation on client accounts more publicly-- and and was quoted half an hour of my time with no updated timeline despite two requests to one staff member as well as the owner, Jesse, who just walked away. The Argumentative and dismissive responses on the stated concerns in the severe lack of timing and communication are what have just ensured I do not return to this establishment and suggest others take a closer look at what shop they choose for the work on their vehicles.

I do have a couple of suggestions that I believe would make the customer experience even better: Wash the car before returning it to the customer, especially after a costly repair. It would be a nice finishing touch and would leave the customer feeling that their vehicle was well cared for. Offer transportation to and from the shop (which I believe they do for a short distance), or consider covering at least half of the Lyft expense when a customer lives a significant distance from the shop. In my case, because I live quite far away, I had to pay for Lyft transportation twice, which added to the overall cost of the repair. Overall, I am very pleased with the service and the results.
