This is a great place for your classic cars. I have a 65 mustang that they went through and fixed all the mechanical problems. They are honest, which is rare today. If something needs replacement, they explain why. They actually talked me out of repairs and upgrades, which I didn't need. Their prices are reasonable but work can take awhile. This is understandable as these are old cars and they have to track down the parts. They can even fabricate parts that aren't made anymore and not available. At times, you may have to wait a week or two to get a part, but then it only takes a day to do the actual work. Recently I decided to jump in to the hobby of classic cars with my daughter who is very passionate about American Muscle Cars. Being new to all of this I made all of the mistakes that you can possibly make. I bought a 1968 Mustang and had it shipped to Phoenix and the car could not have been a bigger disaster. That is when I turned to Vintage Auto Repair to save me from what I had done. I have now been working with Vintage on this project for several months. Dave Grigsby has been fantastic educating me every step of the way. We discuss options and I choose what's right for me with no sales pressure. Every bit of work they have done on the car has been great. They will continue to work on it until they get it right and based on my research they do it at a very fair price. The worst and would not recommend. I spent a low 5 figure number at this shop for a car that broke down after one drive due to their shabby work. The guy whom I worked with is no longer at this shop which was a blessing in disguise. I am still waiting for the owner to call me back. By the way owner, don't bother. First time dealing with them and the staff has blown me away with the top quality service they have providing me with. Thru the entire time my car was being worked on I was communicated on progress and nothing was ever done without me knowing about and approving. They fixed my auto right and where patient in waiting for parts to arrive. Keep in mind they are a few shops that provide this service and get the job done right. This was the perfect place to have my 1964 Thunderbird restored. David was fantastic, and he helped me work through the inspection process and prioritize the needed repairs. They were able to make regular repairs, some tricky fixes including rebuilding parts, and even help me figure out quirks that have frustrated me for years and years. I was impressed with David's detective skills. They also helped me find parts, including vintage looking tires, and ran my car to another shop to have them installed. In the end my car looked great and ran great and I felt more like I had a friend taking care of me than just a car repair shop. read more

This place is a money pit. All they care about is their $90 an hour. After $53,000 in costs engine failed after 799 miles. They charged $2600 for a horrible muffler system. The list goes on and on. If you go to them be prepared to get a schlacking! Your grandmother could do a better job! read more

Poor customer service, poor work quality, high prices. Phone calls seldom returned, all front lug nuts loose, shoddy wiring, nut missing off air cleaner. I would give one star but the owner was nice when i finally got ahold of him and the car eventually did get fixed. That being said, was treated as if the car came with an open check book. Was charged for an inspesction that i was told was free. That was refunded after multiple calls. Nevermind, changing it one star now after reading my own post. read more

Terry (the owner) has been fixing my car for years and has done consistently great work. I completely trust his opinion when he tells me what he thinks is wrong or what the course of action should be. I have seen many of his projects over the years in many different stages of completion and they always look and run superbly. The shop itself is always full of cars from all different decades in for all different types of work, and the reception area is all made up in a tiki-type theme so when you visit you will definitely have something cool to look at while you wait. I would recommend this shop to anyone with an old car that needs fixing, whether that means getting an oil change or having major restoration work done. read more

Terry and the crew at Vintage were able to immediately identify and fix multiple problems on a Vintage truck. Problems that other shops did not diagnose or repair properly. Vintage was more than fair and their service is excellent. Hands down the best repair shop for classic/vintage autos in Arizona. Honest, fair, and great service. Sadly, disappointed. These guys are GREAT at knowing how to fix muscle cars. Their knowledge is superior on what the remedy to your problem should be, and I rate them a 5 on that. I felt very lucky to have found them for my collection of 7 antiques. UNFORTUNATELY, their quality control and attention to detail rates at a 1. Every time I picked up a vehicle - THERE WAS OTHER ISSUES THAT THEY CREATED. I sincerely thought Dave and Terry truly cared about the customer, so I kept giving them the benefit of the doubt, and would return with another car for them to work on. Don't be surprised to find when you pick up your vehicle, that something else popped up. When they fixed the shift lever as requested I was in awe.... But sorely disappointed that they left some wires dangling under the dash without putting them back. And they must have touched something in the fuse box right next to that shift lever because the radio speaker is fried. And I have no green colour on my car.... So where did that can of green spray paint left on the radiator shroud come from? And I was ecstatic that they were able to fix my brakes..... but why is the power steering now sound like it is in pain? The clutch is perfectly smooth, but I am not impressed with the left over hand prints on my white seats, door panels, and white walls. And they were able to install the engine and it looked perfect.... But with (among other things) the spark advance installed upside down, and the fuel line fittings cross threaded, - I still cannot drive it until I take it back for a second visit. I resolved to fixing the fuel line myself because I was so DONE with them and did not trust them to make it right on a 96 year old brass carburetor. The brakes were serviced with new drums, shoes, cylinders...... so why does it sound like rocks in the hubcaps? They said they found nothing. Upon close inspection, I did my own discovery and found that the shoes are too wide for those drums, and the cotter pin is catching on the dust cover with each rotation. Beats me why they could not find that. Someone found the emblem they broke off the door..... but instead of telling me about it, they just picked it up off the floor and layed it on the dash for me to find. Each succeeding time I picked up a vehicle, I cringed more than the last time, waiting to see what would be new problems in the wake of their repairs. Everything was great except for again, missing quality control and attention to any details. read more

I have been taking my '65 mustang there for several years. I found them through another mechanic as I was trying to get my AC to actually blow cold air (novel idea). I have had them do many other things to my car since then, including a full engine rebuild. Here is my review from someone that has been there many times: Cost - It is expensive, but not over the top. But anything for old cars is expensive no matter where you go. Quality - I would say it is par to sub-par sometimes. It seems there are some very basic things the guys fail to remember when working on the car. I have had to bring the car back several times to fix the same issue. This is the reason I cannot give a 5-star review. Warranty - Terry and crew get top marks for this. Anything they have worked on, they have stood behind 100%. I said that I have had to take the car back several times to fix the same issue. Vintage has not charged me for any rework on something that is on them. This is the reason I keep going back; they are true to their word Sometimes it is difficult to deal with a problem not being fixed the first time, but in the end, they have done right by me every time. Have mixed reviews with this garage...sure the owner and staff are very friendly and helpful however paid top dollar for steering and suspension repairs on my 61 Corvair with questionable results. The vehicle only incrementally steers better than when I had them replace with 50 plus year old steering box with a "new" rebuilt unit (lots of understeer and oversteer).
