Cracked cylinders with soot and rust built up everywhere

NEVER USE MIKE OR NEXT GEN. He has been CAUGHT red handed scamming my insurance company, and has cost my family and I OVER 30 THOUSAND DOLLARS in damages on ONE vehicle alone!! We are STILL in the process if discovering all Mike has scammed us on because we made the mistake of trusting him with our 3 vehicles. Mike had us as loyal customers for years even AFTER we caught him in a lie... and how much he took advantage of us is SHOCKING-everyone needs to steer clear of this crook and his ring of shop crooks he is working with. We started going to Mike out of convenience as the shop was within walking distance of work. All we needed was our new headlights wired in and right after bringing the truck in it started having ALL kinds of issues it never had including overheating. Now I am starting to think that this is not a coincidence. He WILL rob your insurance! I picked my truck up after an accident and it didn't even make it out of the parking lot. The brake shroud was smashed into rotor (still) that I was charged for to be replaced but yet it wasn't. If he did the "test drives" he had been charging us for he would have known that the rotor he charged me for should have ended up on the truck but it didn't. When Mike was confronted, he told me to name my price to keep me quiet because he KNOWS he is a crook. He falsifies documents and has no problem lying to your face. He also will report these repairs he does not do to CARFAX. This affects the HISTORY and VALUE of your vehicle!! BEWARE. We paid OVER 8 thousand dollars to have a head gasket and a ton of other engine work done on our truck. The overheating issue was never fixed and after being nickel and dimed more by Mike at Next Gen...we took it elsewhere just to find out none of the work we originally paid for was ever even done. As a result, the motor is blown up. 8k worth of work paid for and not done, 16500 as of now (to start) to replace the damage. This doesn't even cover the repeated charges to diagnose the original problem over and over again or other related costs associated with the loss of this truck. This has been devastating to us financially and to our ranch. Next Gen/Mike's response to the photos and the complaint is that they are just an example of the new shop trying to scam me and we should get back in touch with him so he can explain. Oh yes, and how hurt he is because he thought we were friends and I should be worried about a defamation suit. Another example of his manipulation tactics. As a woman who owned an auto repair shop many years ago I too have seen hundreds of heads and gaskets. His claim of we wouldn't know what we are looking at because we are not mechanics is laughable. I am the one who took the pictures and I was there when the head came off, there is NO way a brand new head gasket would be rusted and welded to the pitted, cracked, rusted block if it was just in fact replaced. It is of utmost importance we spread the word to everyone about our experience with Mike and Next Gen to save as many as we can from this individual and the heartache he caused.

Highly recommended. No BS, quick turn around, and lower prices for the quality provided. Best spot in the valley.

I am extremely hesitant to bring my car to a mechanic shop normally because my dad typically fixes my cars for me. I wanted to give him a break so that is what lead me here. A little over a year ago I brought my car in for a horrible noise it was making. They diagnosed it and over $1,000 later I got the call my car was fixed and ready. As I was driving away, the same very glaring and obvious noise happened even before I left the parking lot. I called and let them know it was still making the noise so they had me bring it back the next day. I went on a drive with one of the mechanics so I could make sure they knew what noise I was talking about. They kept my car, put some oil/lubricant on a few things, and said good to go. Again, my car made the noise as I drove out of the parking lot. I called again to tell them it was still making the noise and I was told, "I don't know what to tell you, your car is old and we could spend years looking for what is causing the noise." And that was it. No offer to try to figure it out and I've now spent the money I barely could afford as a single mom and my car is not fixed. And I don't have the additional funds at the time to take it elsewhere because I spent it with them. Here I am, over a year later and the car is still making the noise because I'm nervous about trying at another mechanic. My friend over the past year has had two very similar experiences where the initial issue was not fixed at first and she has had to go back. She had to pay for the non-fixes and again for the going back to actually get it fixed. I have no doubt the work they did on my car was done properly, however it was not the right work or the fix for my issue. The employee even said he thought what they replaced looked like it had already been replaced before (like it was not the original part). I feel like that should have raised a flag that maybe it wasn't the part that needed replacing. I would use caution when considering going here.

I called them, and only one of the problems was covered, but I didn't have enough miles on the car, so all was denied. Cancelling that--what a rip-off. I wasn't sure of what to do, so I started looking for a second opinion. I looked online for Mercedes-Benz repair and found David Terry, Family Car Care for less! What a blessing. He kept the car overnight, ran tests, and could not find any problems, which is what I thought. At any rate, for a small inspection fee, I feel so much better about the car. The car is perfect, or in very good condition for a 2006. David saved me several thousand dollars and, more importantly, personal peace of mind. I would recommend him 100%!

Instead, over the course of three months, my vehicle was severely disabled by a team unable to perform the level of work they undertook--and those errors were later protected by another team under the same franchise rather than corrected. This matter is now under a formal Better Business Bureau complaint: BBB Case ID #: 24357302 (Filed 01/06/2026) Locations & Management Involved Big O Tires - Cave Creek 5355 E Carefree Hwy, Building C Cave Creek, AZ 85331 Store Manager: Kris Maxie Big O Tires - Phoenix 21029 N Cave Creek Rd Phoenix, AZ 85024 Store Manager: Jeff Hunter General Manager (both locations): Blade Bush Regional Manager: Mike Sharpe Serious Safety, Repair, and Oversight Failures As a woman in my 60s doing the best I can without a mechanical background, I trusted Big O Tires to act competently and ethically. Instead, I experienced repeated misrepresentation of repairs, dismissal of safety concerns, and pressure to accept incomplete or incorrect work. I am deeply concerned this conduct may affect other customers. Documented issues include: * Wrong transmission fluid was used; this was not acknowledged when a new transmission was presented as "necessary," omitting the true cause * Transmission replacement forced me into an extended rental car * Vehicle shudders violently when AC is on, making it feel unsafe * AC compressor was under warranty, yet I was charged for a new one * Compressor replacement was double-billed and immediately followed by severe shaking * Work was performed involving airbag systems * I was later told Big O does not handle airbags due to lack of certification * I was also told airbag work had been performed by a non-certified technician * Warning lights were repeatedly dismissed and later tied to airbags not functioning * Steering components were left unsafe, including screws not replaced and later described as hazardous * Vehicle returned with missing or unsecured hardware, including an engine protection plate left hanging * Horn and cruise control failures were not properly repaired * Multiple return visits were required due to errors from work performed the prior day; many visits were not documented * An incorrect belt was installed, causing the vehicle to break down and require towing * When I requested safety issues be resolved, I was instead offered an oil change * At the Cave Creek location, the manager was frequently not on site, and vehicles appeared to be worked on without direct supervision * I was told management knew errors were occurring but could be fixed--yet they were not * All warning lights remain on * Although verbally stated to be "safe," this is my only transportation and I have lost all trust. I am taking my life on the freeway in a vehicle ablaze with warning lights I was told to "monitor." Lack of Corporate Response * I contacted the Big O consumer complaint line on 11/23 * No one from corporate or regional management contacted me * I was given a $700 check for non-certified airbag work, which felt less like a resolution and more like being told to go away--while my vehicle remained unsafe Financial Impact Between transmission replacement, repeated repairs, towing, rental car costs, and related expenses, the financial impact exceeds $18,000, yet the vehicle remains unresolved and unsafe. Final Statement I trusted this company because I am not a mechanic and relied on their professional expertise. Instead, my car was compromised by work beyond the team's capabilities, and those failures were protected rather than corrected. This is not professionalism. This is not accountability. This is not acceptable. Shame on you.
