I just had my first experience here. I received a coupon in the mail from them saying I could get an oil change and an exterior wash for $39.00. So I called and they asked if I'd like to drop it off or wait with my car. I elected to wait for my car in the shop, I showed up to my appointment early and when we went through the pricing, now a service fee has been charged and it's $55.00. They explained that they do a lot of extras during an oil change and I kind of reluctantly accepted. Then I asked how long the wait was and they said it was at least 1.5 hours! I was kind of shocked because I have never even waited for an hour and this was unexpected. The guy that helped me was nice but I think they could use some help with their advertising. This review was long overdue, but better late than never... Their customer service was PHENOMENAL! I received a coupon for an oil change via AAA, but I also needed them to check my engine since the light came on. Not only did they do a great job on the oil change, but they found some other issues that needed to be taken care of as well. They even fixed the motor in my trunk which prevented my trunk from fully closing. Oh and I forgot to mention they drove me to work after dropping the car off as well and offered to pick me back up to bring me back to the shop. They even let me stay past their closing hours until my wife could come and get me the first day I brought it in and there was a parts mix up. I can go on and on, but overall it was one of the best automotive/mechanical experiences I've ever had. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be back for another oil change. read more

This would initially have been a 2/3 star review had I not had a manager follow up/ ever heard from again. But these people got me to bring my car in TWICE. The first time to be disrespected and the second time, to be lied to and disrespected. Fool me once, fool me twice ‍ Unfortunately not only did an employee turn me off to this place, but the manager as well. Honesty and integrity is NOT the motto or method here. Do NOT spend your money OR time here. I showed up at my appointment on a Thursday with my dog in the car to walk home, I left the car on for her and went inside. I parked next to an employee as they were parking, but had to make sure my dog was good before I went in. The guy seemed nice, asked if I had coupons and checked my in quickly. I went back out to walk my dog home AND had her out of the car ready to go, when a guy pulling in says "can you move your car?" I looked around for "employee parking" or "employee of the month" parking and didn't see it. He then said this is "MY parking space." Another person was waiting behind him and both waited while I lifted my 60lb dog back into the car (already off) and run to the side to ask for my key back and start my car. About 2-3 minutes in all, this guy idled there for me to move my car- AND made another employee wait behind him. In retrospect? I should have told the entitled brat to suck it up, but when we live in a country where a young while boy does whatever and anyone will defend them? Eh. So essentially this employee was late and wanted to park where I parked, but couldn't wait for the car to be brought back for service? If he really had to have that spot, "his" parking spot, why not be on time to get it? The man I dropped my car off with was leaving the building as I got to the front of the business and reassured me that was not his place and said he would handle it. Walking away, i had a gut feeling I couldn't trust my car with these people and walked back to get it. The man was still taking photos, but was super understanding and even offered a complimentary service. Here's the problem, mechanics are notably untrustworthy and so far, this place seemed to have at least one with questionable intentions towards customers. So a complimentary service doesn't do much if a disgruntled employee messes up your car- and offering a free service just means I signed up for the potential of letting them do it. I declined and thought "no, but I won't be telling anyone I know to come here, but I won't bad mouth them either, maybe just a subtle 'poor culture, wouldn't waste my time,' and 2-3 stars." I got home and made another appointment with another shop to have my car in time for work that weekend. My time is valuable to me and while they weren't my first choice, they did a good job once before. The manger from borst called, Tom and explained this employee has had issues previously and they likely would not be working there anymore. He said they were sent home for a few days and when he got back they would talk. I felt bad, but to be honest, my grandpa owned a body shop, service is the bloodline of business in industries that have typically untrustworthy people. In a right to work state, I would have let this employer go on the spot. You can always train a mechanic, you cannot teach respect and kindness. I explained my reasons for picking this shop, it's close and convenient, but also that I made another appointment. I explained I needed my car for work that weekend and for a trip the next Tuesday, but also why I couldn't risk someone tampering with it. I told him I didn't want to show up and have that employee there because I live near, my dog would again be in the car for a brief bit AND my car would be near a questionable person- which is not how I work. The manager explained Borsts services and why they are the best - I I let him know I would call after my next meeting after considering. So I spoke with a friend who owns a shop two hours south, he explained if the business felt they could keep you after that, let them! A good business will always want to rectify your experience and eat a cost, especially since they know you will leave a positive review/ send people and keep coming back, coupon or not. We scheduled for the same time the next day and when I showed up? Guess who is there? Guess who wasn't in "his" parking space? Guess who lied and said they wouldn't be there? Guess who left the second time because they were lied to? The "manager" stood there with his arms crossed, acting like I was being unreasonable. He said he never said the employee would not be here- and I am 100% sure I explained I wouldn't be coming back if he was. I have been using Borst for about a year now and will never use them again. I have an aftermarket radio in my car. In May of 2022 I paid $2300 for an electrical drain. Then in November we replaced the alternator for $900. The battery was still draining. Most recently we learned it was due to the radio. So after spending over $3000 for nothing, I am returning to the radio installer. I will never use them again, have removed their license plate frame and sunshield and must warn anyone to not use them for any electrical repair. What's worse is that when I brought it back most recently, they tried to charge me for labor when nothing was repaired. NEVER AGAIN. I AM TELLING EVERYONE NOT TO USE THEM. LOYAL CUSTOMER LOST! What's worse is the there should have been a costco 15% discount on this and I didn't get it. So ripped off. read more

I've taken my Chevy Equinox (my newest one and last one) to Borst for many years. They are conveniently located down the street but also offer rides to/from if needed. They are in constant communication. I love that I can watch the progress over the link they send you so you know where they're at and what the issue is. They are always so kind spending time explaining to me, and then my husband when I am not sure which questions I should be asking! They charge a fair price and really give you that "your neighborhood repair" shop feeling. I will continue to entrust my vehicles to Borst- they've got a great team and even better service! I recently had my husband drop my car off when I was out of town and was worried I'd miss my scheduled appointment. They quickly diagnosed a battery issue and explained how a bulletin outlining the voltage issue had been put out- giving me even more confidence in their diagnosis. I originally gave them a shot because I felt I was being charged to much at my current mechanics place and I was right. anyway the three times I've been here have been very good. They have great follow up and do a really good inspection on your car with pictures, I've read the bad reviews but that hasn't happened to me. So far they've done very well with my carts. I have stupidly continued to bring my BMW 325i to this location. At first, the front-line employees were very professional; however, new employees have replaced the previous employees and the quality of customer service has also changed. I brought my car in for an oil change, systems check, and tire rotation (part of a package deal they offered). Please keep this part in mind, because it is important to why this review rating is what it is. I have had an issue with my coolant system for over a year. Borst and another mechanic had informed me that I needed to keep an eye on the coolant level until the repairs were made. Before I brought my car in for the deal they offered, I ensured that the coolant was full (as I have been doing for over a year with NO ISSUES) and my car was running fine. After they completed the deal they offered, which included a systems check, I was once again told about the coolant system, but this time I was told that it was leaking. Fast forward a few days and my car was in the process of overheating. Looking at my coolant level, I discovered that not only was it bone dry (dangerous); the cap was now broken. None of these were issues when I brought my car to Borst, so I called them and spoke with Lee, the manager. Lee was unfortunately extremely passive-aggressive. He spoke to me as if I was not telling the truth about my car, and he did not listen to anything I was saying. Lee was more interested in continuously citing the "photographs" they provided during my last visit, regarding my coolant system. I again informed Lee that before bringing my car in, there were no leaks within the coolant system, the coolant was full, and the cap was not broken. Lee further insulted my intelligence by telling me that the issue with my coolant system had "gotten worse", and this was why it was suddenly empty. Again, I questioned Lee's statement because it made no sense. Disappointed and frustrated with the lack of customer service or care by Lee, I discontinued the phone call and called another auto repair shop. I had to have my car towed to this NEW auto repair shop. The NEW auto repair shop informed me that what I was told (by Borst) was "insane" and that "your coolant system appears to have been tampered with." I knew something was seriously wrong with what Lee at Borst was telling me, unfortunately, I had no proof to contradict his (their) statement regarding the supposed leakage or why all of a sudden my coolant was empty and the cap was broken. My car is now being repaired by professionals, who take my safety seriously (not just my money) and not trying to scam me. I WILL NEVER BRING MY CAR INTO BORST EVER AGAIN! read more

My first visit with this company made me feel really confident with them. I had just purchased a used car and asked for a full inspection to find any problems. It had a small power steering leak but that seemed to be the only problem. After $755.72 to replace a power steering hose they said they were impressed with the car and there was nothing else wrong with it. After a couple weeks, the power steering leak became much worse. When we took the car back to complain about the service we were now told the rack and steering was the problem and it will cost $2200 to fix it. It amazes me that this was not a problem when I took it in a few weeks ago. I now have no confidence with this company and don't feel good about taking my other cars there. read more

This review is long over due as I was in on March 6, 2020. I was referred to the Phoenix location by AAA. I received a jump but was sent here for a battery test and replacement, if needed. I called on the drive there because that's what I do. I interacted with both Marc and Stephen and they both provided excellent service. They are polite and professional. My battery was bad and, even though they could not get a AAA authorization, they switched out the battery and promised to complete and send the paperwork. They did and that was an extension of the great service I received while there. I was on my way in no time. The facility is exceptional for an auto repair shop. It's lean and well kept. I went here for a bit of service on my 2017 Ford and was very pleased with the outcome. It was only a simple oil change, but the job was done correctly by a great staff of people. The work was completely explained before they started and after the service was compelled the service writer informed me some issues the car had during their multi-point inspection. I was really hoping this could be my new shop. Took my vehicle in for a engine diagnostic and quoted ~$150. Result was $150 and was told "need a new engine". I asked what did the tech do to determine that? Answer: "Tech started and test drove." I asked was the computer diagnostics done? No. Is it not part of diagnosis? They did end up doing that. I feel ripped off. I knew there was a problem but for the work they did, which may have taken 20-30 minutes, was outlandish! Not my first visit either. read more

My first encounter was with John, who truly listened to my concerns regularly my car and then William, who kept me up-to-date on how my repairs were going, to include sending pictures. The best part was experiencing their integrity, when they made a mistake and fixed it. If they hadn't told me, I would have never known and they could have been dishonest and made me pay for their mistake. Best ever, I am just right around the corner from them and it has been in my radar to check Borst out. Well my car decided it was time for me to check them out. It wouldn't start, so I walked over, and Tom (provided wonderful, above standard customer service) grabbed the jumper box thingy, jumped the car, and proceeded to add excellent service. Tested and replaced the battery, did a complete auto diagnostic testing and did not hassle to get the suggested maintenance done. Will for sure, 100% go to Borst and have the work done. This place is a AAA recommendation I was sadly disappointed by the price they gave me. I most definitely didn't except to be price gauged on a alternator for a rav 4. The at cost price was 214.00 for an alternator and the up charge on the price was going to be 100%. So with my review I would like people to be aware. I gave him a $25 off coupon, he punches it in and my total was 105.67 lmao right. So he called the other guy and he said, ah the coupon wasnt applied, so he fudges his numbers and my new total was 93.45 . Very funny right. We received a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation when our battery was replaced last month. Although this company was over 25 miles away we decided to make an appointment and use the coupon. Wow, are we glad we did. Sitting in their immaculate waiting room, we were offered coffee, soda, cookies and popcorn, if we wanted. While sitting there, we were able to watch and listen to the dealing with their clients. We were so impressed with the way they explained what was being done and giving a list of future maintenance projects their cars may need and the costs so people could plan ahead. We complemented Andrew and told him we would definitely be back, even though it is not close to us. Sometimes, the quality of service trumps convenience. I am not a fan of going to the auto shop, but this place makes it so easy and so pleasant that now I don't mind going back! The staff here is super friendly and honest. I came in a little before 7:30am for my regular oil maintenance and was greeted by Tom, such a nice and friendly guy, explained everything I was getting done and asked me if I had any concerns with my car, and was asked wether I needed a loaner car, or just a drop off, I live close by, so I just walk over, but was thankful that they asked as it's getting hotter outside. I left my car with them and trusted they would do the work, two hours later I was sent a very detailed report with photos and everything, I like this kind of transparency, and when I picked up my car I was helped by Scott, who was also very nice and pleasant. Today finding a reliable company to repair your auto can be a challenging event. Dealership charges/fees are outrageous and most auto repair websites might look impressive but a positive experience is certainly not guaranteed. Females, especially, are concerned about being taken advantage of. I usually feel like I'm considered an easy target because I'm not knowledgeable about automotive repairs and maintenance. Excuse me, but my eight years of post-high school education did not prepare me for understanding what's under the hood of my car and I never hoped it would do so. I rarely (when I say rarely, I mean about once in every five years) respond to customer feedback requests but I had to do so this time because the service was so far above and beyond my expectations. Honest and reliable automotive service. I had been here before for service with positive experience. A time later, my truck died, ended up stranded I had my truck towed here. A dealer would have prolly raked me over the coals, but Borst diagnosed the issue (loose battery ground connection) and got me out the door quickly and honestly. I think I paid $50. Great service. I had an amazing experience with Borst Automotive on Cave Creek Road. I received a coupon for service in the mail a few months back and decided to use it since their Cave Creek location is conveniently close to me. Ashley emailed me a detailed service recommendation that prioritized everything my Jeep needed in a way that I can understand along with pictures. I knew what was urgent and so did they, and I felt confident they can do the work. Finally, when my Jeep was finished, I advised Ashley and Stephen that I had to pay for the service with a Title loan. The Jeep was ready on a Friday, and I only had a time window of 3 hours to get a new Title Loan, fill out the paperwork, have pictures taken by the Title Loan store, and get a check to Stephen by 5:30pm. Well, both Stephen and Ashley had my best interest in mind and Ashley even brought my Jeep to the Title Loan Store where I was finishing up the loan with my signature! Wow, I was amazed and so relieved to have my Jeep for the weekend! I am very grateful for all the hard work Ashley and Stephen did for me, and the mechanic too!
