They indicated my strut was bad and after taking it to the shop right next-door, they confirmed there's nothing wrong with the strut whatsoever. The gentleman running the service counter in the front office was no longer employed when I came back. When they told me the problem- they said the right front strut was bad. I ordered the new part and he had communicated They would install the part. That was a inaccurate and that's an example of why he was not there or employed anymore when I came back. However, the part was not bad he had diagnosed incorrectly as a failing part. It was a completely different problem. It was a valve in my air compressor that was failing and they failed to find or diagnose the actual problem. They wouldn't install the part when I brought it to them after they diagnosed it incorrectly - I ordered the new part because they told me it was bad and it wasn't so I'll be returning the party and getting my money back for that as well. . Basically I came to the conclusion, they did not want to deal with an Air Ride suspension system at all and they didn't have or know how to diagnose the Air Ride failure correctly. To be fair, very few repair shops want to deal with these air ride suspension systems. They're complicated. They will be good for other things, but there are some things, They just can't handle it; it's outside of their realm of speciality. read more

My first experience with Car Tech was with an Oil Change Groupon, Ben at the front desk was nice and accommodating on the phone - even after I changed my appointment twice. (Sorry Ben!) Once I arrived, I signed in and they got to work quickly. Like other shops, they came back with more things wrong that my car needed and I thought.. here we go again! But this place IS different, Ben explained thoroughly what was wrong and why it needed to be fixed, he even took me into the shop to SHOW me. I was given a quote and scheduled an appointment to come back another day for the repairs. Fast forward to repair day: again, greeted quickly and took my car right away. I knew it was going to be a couple of hours so I got comfy in the waiting room. Charlie came out to check on me and even sat down to chat while we waited, asked me if I needed anything and assured me that anyone who comes to Car Tech is treated like family, I 100% believe that. You can really tell they care here, no matter who you are or what you drive. The guys finished sooner than expected and the price was lower than initially quoted. Three months later, I had a weird smell coming from my car. I couldn't tell if it was a burning smell or oil but I wasn't about to leave it like that. I called Ben and he got me in just a couple days later. That day I was in and out in under 30 minutes and Charlie told me there was a small nick in my oil filter which was causing the smell, they replaced it with no questions asked and didn't even charge me a dime! I was fully prepared to pay for something equivalent to an oil change but was so pleasantly surprised when they told me I was good to go. I called car tech first thing on a Monday morning about my son's car window being stuck in the down position. I asked if I could bring it in that morning and they said yes. I spoke to Dennis when I arrived and he was very helpful. He had to take a couple calls as we spoke and even on the calls he was helpful to his customers needs and grateful for their business. He called me within 30 minutes of me dropping it off to explain the issue and told me he could have it done that day once the parts arrived. The price Charlie quoted me was so good, I was a little skeptical of how the price was so much cheaper than other local shops. This was mostly due to a previous bad experience with an unrelated small auto shop. However, Charlie quickly proved me wrong and went above and beyond my expectations. Charlie could tell I was worried about getting screwed over so, he took me back into his shop and showed me the brand name parts fresh out of the box and assured me that this was not "that type of shop" and at this shop "I would be treated like family". I have a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis that needs attention on common well known weak spots: - worn driver door hing pins - lubricating a suspension without grease points - A/C blend door actuator - transmission and power steering fluid attention - multiple unrelated dash warning lights - trunk latch adjustment - non-functional cruise control - overdrive wire rub wear and short circuit - window up/down regulator replacement - weak alternator repair Several times Charlie could have charged me a lot more like most shops would. He always shoots straight with me on my repair options. One time he presented a $950 and $195 option and walked me through the benefits of both approaches. We met after I had two other repair shops 'fix' my multiple dash warning light issues. In 15-minutes his shop isolated the root cause as one weak diode inside my alternator that was passing AC voltage into my DC based electrical system. He explained how this caused signaling havoc with several sensors and that replacing the alternator was less than 1/2 the cost I was charged at the last two shops that only replaced fully functional parts on my car only to have the warnings return later. Charlie has integrity and my trust and my full recommendation to anyone that could use honesty when dealing with the expected issues that come up with their aging car. Called yesterday because i saw an awesome Groupon deal for new brakes, which my dealership in San Diego told me i needed because the front were in the red and the back are in the yellow. Of course, they charge way too much in general so i didn't get anything done but took their recommendations with me. Fast forward to last night and he told me that i shouldn't buy the Groupon quite yet because he has seen people with my same situation who ended up not needing any brakes. So i take it in today, and he was right. My brakes are fine for a while, and he said, "i don't feel comfortable selling you brakes with that much pad left."
