Finally checked out Mifen 101 and they are legit. The Yunnan rice noodles here are solid. I got the signature beef mifen and it didn't disappoint - it was super comforting and exactly what I was looking for. We also tried some of the spicy cold appetizers and they were spot on. On top of the great food, the service was efficient and our bowls were ready in no time. Will be back. Tip: come before 11:30am (they open at 11am) if you don't want to wait in line. The space is tiny so seating is limited.
Came here on a weekday and parking was easy and no line at the restaurant. I would not come to this downtown area on a Friday night or weekend but its perfectly chill on weekday during lunch. We were seated immediately and the table for 6 was near the door so the unfortunate thing is we would get blasted by cold air every time someone opened the door and toward the end when we were finishing its also where people stand to wait for a table to open. Claypot Beef Brisket Mifen: Level 3 spicy, it was quite hot at this level and also paired with a nice sichuan numbing flavor. Portion size is very big and I was not able to finish it, in the future I would definitely split it. We asked the waiter what was the difference between claypot and a normal bowl since it costs more and the soup stays hotter in the claypot. Pork and Shrimp dumplings: Good home made taste and they were extra good dipped in the spicy chili sauce the order came with. Braised pork bun: nice toasty outside completely encapsulates the juicy meat filling. It was great and because it was all sealed it made our 1 extra an easy leftover my friend carried out in his pocket. The reason for the 3 star review is someone was sick working that day. Half the people who ate here that day ended up with pretty bad Influenza that gave us chills and body aches to the point where we had to take sick days.
Stopped by Mifen 101 after strolling along Castro Street following the World Cup Final. It was the perfect place for a comforting late-night meal. The beef noodle soup in clay pot and beef tendon noodle soup were flavorful, satisfying, and exactly what we were craving after all the excitement. Love the Servcie so fast, we wait outside and placed order before sit down. Food came in a few minutes after sat down. So efficient, would love to come back to try more
I've always been curious about Mifen101 whenever I walk by, as it's usually packed. It's a small hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant, and service was quick. I ordered the signature beef mifen in level 3 which was supposedly mala spicy, and an order of the pork chinese cabbage dumplings. Thankfully there was a sichuan peppercorn condiment, as I felt that mine needed more heat. The broth itself is very beefy; there's some pickled veggies in there as well and the beef was cubed. I did enjoy the consistency of the rice noodles which absorbed the broth well. I thought it was decently good, but not anything sensational. The dumplings, however, I deemed were better; the filling was flavorful enough to where it didn't need to be doused in any sauce. It did come with a side of chili oil, but it didn't taste too far off from the one that was already on the table -- I didn't really like it as it was one of those chili crisp tasting ones that didn't taste like anything. Another nitpick is that the water was lukewarm, which didn't pair well with the hot and spicy broth. Overall, the food is priced pretty well for the value. If I were to come back, I'd probably try another type of beef mifen and definitely get the dumplings again.
The sour and spicy fatty mutton mifen is amazing here. My favorite. Super fragrant and flavorful. Noodles are springy. The others are decent. I get takeout here, have never eaten inside.
Mifen101 always hits. I got their mifen101 beef noodle soup medium spice. I love how their broth is not too oily and very soothing for my stomach. They have abundant toppings, including meat, pickles, and noodles. This is probably the best beef noodle soup in the bay area!!! We were seated right away and the service was very quick.
Good portion, good price. We got the signature beef soup, both the clay pot version and the regular version. The difference is that the clay pot comes with additional toppings, like tomato and half an egg. Service was fast, it's a small restaurant but there was no crowd when we went. Parking lot is really close by. I like the texture of noodles, the pickled vegetables add so much flavor, and the medium spiciness is recently spicy. They have pepper powder on the side to add mala spice to your liking! Overall, they give a lot of food, especially their meat portion, for a reasonable price. Seems like a reliable option for some Chinese Beef soup. Will be coming back!
Flavorful beef broth with textured mifen. Generous portion. You get to pick spice level for both noodles and appetizers. Food is on the spicier side. Indoor seating was a bit crowded, service was acceptable. Casual noodles place.
This place is small but the service is super fast. We've been here twice and the food is always so tasty. One of the best Chinese noodles places in the area. Definitely remember to order the golden sour!
Been coming here for a few years. A great little "hole in the wall" Mifen place a little off Castro street. There is minimal space inside but the prices, quality, and portions of the Mifen soups are well worth coming for. Def one of my favorite restaurants on Castro and well worth a visit!
Got here around 6 o'clock and had a few minute wait time. The store is very small and the tables are lowkey very close to each other. The food did have a lot of chili' for mild spicy. I really loved their cucumber salad it was very good. Their brown sugar and the coconut sesame basically tasted the same to me. I wasnt really a fan of their yogurt drink mixed with the purple rice though
Their dry/sauced noodles are better than their soup noodles in my opinion! This place has great noodle texture which is something that I am very picky about when it comes to rice noodles. For Mifen101, I think they do the sauced versions better. The soup version was nothing to write home about but the sauce version hit the spot. Interesting choice of veggies as well. Service was fast and the servers were helpful and attentive. The place is no frills but clean and lines moved quickly! We also got the yogurt drinks (both with purple rice and original) and they are not as good as Yomie's but still good on the go. The fact that there are lines shows that people like the food.
Came here with my mom and ordered the signature beef mifen at the recommended spicy level. The broth smelled divine and the beef was not skimped on. Each bite was very tender. The mifen was quite yummy and has a springy texture. I got the Beijing purple rice yogurt drink because I thought the dairy would cool me down, but it wasn't really good to be honest! The purple rice was way too gummy and clumpy at the bottom and refused to be distributed. The yogurt was also unsweetened, which would've been fine if I was able to eat with the sweetness of the rice. Parking situation can be a tad rough in downtown Mountain View during peak hours- the lots fill up quickly, so I parked in a semi-residential area and walked over.

Had a chance to visit Mifen - which specializes in Chinese Noodle Soups and is quite authentic. This is a small shop located on Castro Street - easy to miss but definitely give it a try. When we walked in around 8ish all the tables were full but thankfully we were quickly seated. Once we sat down I got to try: *Cabbage/Pork dumplings - these were super juicy and flavorful and came with a soy chili oil sauce which was nice. There was also a chili oil on the table which I enjoyed putting on the dumplings and having them. * beef mifen soup - this was a flavorful noodle soup with tons of noodles, chunks of beef and pickled veggies. This was really yummy also! Overall the experience at Mifen was great and would say to give this spot a chance if you are craving traditional Chinese food! read more

Went here yesterday with my sister, and we really enjoyed it. On a cold, tiring day, the soup was just what I needed--adding the hot and sour option for $1 more was a nice touch. The service was quick and polite, and the small shop has a comfortable, cozy vibe. I would definitely come back! read more

Tried their beef soup. The soup flavor was very good. I didn't care for the pieces of beef in the soup though. I'd opt for the vegetable soup in the future. Also tried the pork and cabbage dumplings. There didn't seem to be any cabbage in them. They tasted very good in the dipping sauce. Service was as above average. Ambiance was lively. Small dining area. Popular spot. read more

Super popular spot for noodle soups in downtown Mountain View. My party of 3 came by around 5:45 pm on a Tuesday evening and had to wait a couple minutes for a table, and as we were eating we saw the line get longer. Most of the customers were Chinese; we were one of the two tables speaking English, so you know the food here is legit. The restaurant itself is tiny, with the seating space split into two sides by a wall in the middle. There are 4-5 tables on each side, as well as 2 outdoor tables. The menu is just one page and pretty straightforward. There are a bunch of appetizers and small dishes, like braised dishes and dumplings, and the entrees are various noodle soups with different meats. I had the beef tendon mifen ($14.99) and asked for no cilantro or green onions. It came out very quickly and was piping hot. The remaining toppings other than the meat are raw onions and two types of pickled veggies. I really liked the noodles, which are these silky smooth noodles made from rice. They're great for slurping! The soup had great flavor, and I was really happy they didn't skimp on the beef tendon, which was super tender. Portions were huge as well. I was absolutely stuffed by the end. My one complaint is that I wish they included actual veggies like bokchoy as part of the noodle soup rather than raw onions and pickled vegetables. It was a lot of pickled veggies to the point where I couldn't finish them all. One friend got the signature beef ($13.99) and enjoyed it as well, but my vegetarian friend got the vegetarian mifen soup ($10.99) and absolutely hated it. Said it was super bland and barely had any flavor. It was a bit better after chili oil and vinegar to his soup, but still he didn't like it that much and only finished half. This isn't a place to leisurely eat and chat with friends. Because it's such a small place and there's always a line, you feel the pressure to eat quickly and go. read more

Quick service, there was a small line for lunch at 12pm Sunday. You order before sitting and the food comes out almost immediately. I liked the yogurt and the pork sandwiches. My friend recommended dipping the pork bun into the soup which was also good. I liked the beef mifen noodles more than the lamb spine. Portion sizing is really generous and it was such an affordable meal. read more

Great value: delicious, properly spicy, and very generous portions. Loved the fresh raw onion in the rice noodles. It was busy so we waited a bit outside, but service stayed efficient. Tried their delivery too--same quality and sturdy packaging. Strongly recommend. read more

I love Mifen101! They have the best beef noodle soup in the bay!! This place was on my list of final meals to have in the Bay Area. The staff are always SO NICE, like consistently. The portions are huge and well priced for the area. I would highly recommend the Beef Mifen and the Golden Sour & Spicy Mifen Soup. The ultimate move is going with another person and getting both to share. The braised pork buns are also amazing! It is a lot of food for the value! Whenever I'm in Mountain View I can't stop myself from going here. read more
Food here is good. Also service was very efficient! Space isn't large but its neat and organized. We got the Beef Mifen, Stewed mutton casserole, Cucumber salad and Spicy beef tendon. The Fav was the Beef Mifen, just get it! The rice noodles were chewy and lots of beef pieces. There was vegetables and pickled veggies in it too. The broth is quite clean and yummy. We arrived on a Saturday a few mins after they opened. We got seated right away but the tables were all filled up by 11:30am. As a first timer here, we decided to get the signature beef noodles, with rice noodles. Went on a cold and rainy, and it is absolutely the best suiting food for that weather. We've been here three times, and each time we've been very satisfied. Every visit, we always order the rice noodles. Although the broth varies each time, it's always delicious. The rice noodles are springy and have a great chew. The most highly recommended dish is the braised pork flatbread. The outside is slightly crispy from roasting, while the inside is filled with fragrant pork that's flavorful without being greasy. Each serving comes with four pieces, making it very affordable and great value for money. If you enjoy healthy yogurt, you should also try their purple rice yogurt. Located in Downtown Mountain View, parking is plentiful but may be difficult to get an available spot. The interior is small with limited seating. My friend and I had to wait about 15 minutes, but once we were seated they were ready to take our order as we had looked at the menu while we were waiting. Beef Mifen (4/5): The meat was really tender and super flavorful. The broth was flavorful. The noodles were soft and chewy. Overall, Mifen 101 is a great place for some delicious authentic Chinese noodles. The food is so yummy and the service is quite speedy. I would come back here. read more

The food was also absolutely delicious, I ordered the beef noodles, and also the pickle cucumbers combined with the tofu skin! Ordered the Beef Mifen, Tomato Mifen, Pork Bun, and Cucumber Salad. Service is FAST. Our Pork Buns arrived less than a minute after putting in our order. The buns (4) were larger than I expected (bigger than my palms), so they were very filling. The bread is on the tougher side since Mifen101 does not make these buns fresh, but I still enjoyed them. Nothing about the pork bun really stands out, so you might want to add some vinegar + chili oil. The cucumber salad was good, but nothing noteworthy. Consider adding chili oil here too. Tomato Mifen: - Felt like they threw in extra slices of tomatoes and called it a day - Maximum spice level was soooo good that my date started sweating like crazy... try at your own risk... came here the other night for dinner. it's in a super cute hip part of mountain view, alongside many other great restaurants. the noodles here are super spicy, the numbing spicy type. i regretted adding too much of the chili oil to my noodles, i don't think it really needs it. i was amazed with the cucumber appetizer. it has a unique flavor and i couldn't stop eating it! tangy and a little spicy. wontons were pretty good too and filling! read more

Beef mifen x2. We came around 6 on a weekday and there was no wait, but it definitely picks up. We got the beef mifen and honestly there wasn't anything too special about the beef. One of the best and most authentic noodle shops in Mountain View! The flavors are very traditional and really remind me of home -- every bite brings back memories. What really stands out is how generous they are with the meats, definitely more than most Chinese noodle places I've been to. Everything is legit and absolutely delicious. 4.5 stars Looking for noodle soup around the neighborhood we found this Mifen place with outdoor seating so I can sit with my dog. It's a small place so there were few folks waiting for tables and take out. We got seated right away outside and used the QR code to browse through the menu and they also gave us the paper copy. We ordered the beef noodle mifen, beef hamburger (comes in 4), cucumber salad and plum and yogurt purple rice drink. The servers were very friendly and was very attentive. Even brought my dog water without asking! I enjoyed the beef mifen with the pickled vegetables. It really hit the spot. I got it medium spicy and it was very flavorful. The noodles were chewy and soft. Cucumber salad was seasoned with salt and spices. It was refreshing and went well with the noodle soup. The beef hamburger were the highlight with the chewy dough (like the Korean pancake hottoek but with shredded beef). It had good amount of beef to dough ratio. I would get the yogurt drink without the purple rice. The yogurt is creamy and a bit tart. Good to drink it alone. The plum juice was good, would have been even better chilled. Overall, it was satisfying meal :) I would definitely come back for the beef hamburgers. read more
I understand the hype for this place! The food and the service were on point. Although the restaurant is small they utilize the space very well. I literally order all my favorite dishes along with the beef mifen. If you haven't tried their cumber salad and brown sugar mochi you have to! So good, I'll be back again forsure! read more

Obviously getting beef mifen noodles but if you want something different & special, the Golden Sour and Spicy Soup. Right amount of spice and tart to perfectly compliment their beef noodle soup! I've been craving legit beef noodle soup for the longest time and going to downtown Mountain View, I knew there was bound to be something to eat in this major food hub. Little did I know that in the small streets off of Castro lies a place called Mifen101 that served just this. Being a very small location with moderate long lines and not that many seats in general, it was a slight worry that this wait wasn't going to pay off but luckily in the end, this place exceeded my expectations. Perfectly savory broths and tender pieces of beef, my choice of the day consisted of the Golden Sour and Spicy soup which was a terrific change to your normal beef noodle soup with tart and just the right amount of spice to warm you up but not make you constantly asking for more water. Portion was large and filled you up just right and enough room to add a side appetizer, which we did with the pork and cabbage dumpling with a nice hot oil sauce on the side that you could either dip or pour on top. Freshly made and steaming goodness inside, a perfect compliment to the meal. Staff were very quick on their feet and although assumed we spoke Chinese to expedite the ordering process, that was fine as the moment we sat down, food was out in a few minutes so wait time was very minimal. Not really the end of the world if anything but I wish they had more tables or a larger restaurant to accommodate more people as it felt slightly cramped. In the end, satisfied my craving for the day for Beef Noodle soup and didn't make a mistake choosing Mifen101 as my choice, and potentially my choice of location in Mountain View from here on out. Cool, small restaurant near the bustling, popping food area of Mountain View. The food was decently tasty and the vibes were good. Food: 4/5. We got the signature beef rice noodle soup and the beef flank egg noodle soup. Both types of noodles were very delicious and al dante, just the way I like it! The beef flank was a bit fattier than the signature beef. The soup is very flavorful with a hint of sourness from the preserved vegetable. We also got a purple rice yogurt drink -- the drink is definitely an acquired taste, it was a little too strong for me. Vibes: 4/5. The waiters were very nice and attentive. The restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon, but we were able to get seated quickly. read more
Late post but my dad treated me out for lunch here in January 2024 and we enjoyed our meal! You can tell by how packed the place is that this restaurant is quite popular. Although small, the store is cozy and service is nice. Our entrees and side dishes were delicious. Price wise, I would have to say that the side dishes were pricy and the noodles were decently priced in comparison. read more
Great little hole in the wall place on the side of downtown Mountain View. We've gotten takeout a few times but definitely recommend dining in as the noodles and broth are much better eaten piping hot. If you're like me and not a spice person, I recommend getting the broth non spicy. I felt adventurous and asked for the lowest spice level and was still overwhelmed. They were super nice though and brought me over a bowl of non spicy soup to dip my food in to lessen the spice. There aren't many seats, so I'd recommend coming earlier to avoid the lunch and dinner rush. read more

Their Mifen comes as standard with gluten-free rice noodles. But make sure not to get their egg noodles as those contain gluten and look the same. Or order the soup completely without noodles. Recently I noticed a minor gluten-effect: maybe they use…
Did you have change your noodles? When the place first opened, noodles were thick rice noodles. I just received my order and it looks like thinner, wheat noodles.
I was there a few days ago and I had great rice noodles as always. No change in noodles.
Do you have any plans to offer a vegetarian soup? Right now you only have a few appetizers I can eat, but they look good.
I also would like a vegetarian option!
